Windows Message"No Disk in Drive" appears @ itunes startup & w every click

When itunes starts up I get this message box "There is no disk in drive. Please insert disk into drive." I can click on continue or cancel to close box but it reappears whenever I click on a song. It sometimes won't close even if I do insert a disk. I am just learning itunes. Does anyone have advise?

Are you sure it's iTunes, and not quicktime? Because with quicktime, you can get that message if you play a movie from a CD, and it keeps looking for it.
If that's the case, open QuickTime and choose File, then Open Recent, and then Clear Menu.

Error Message:    Insert disk into drive   \Device\Harddisk1\DR1

With Premier 11, when I use the Instant Movie "Outdoor Adventure", after it is created I receive the following error message, locking up the program:
                   (NO problem with some other Instant Movies)
            Insert disk into drive   \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.
What does the error message mean and how do I fix it?

Error message -"No disk please insert" appears when accessing itunes

This error message only goes away when making dozens of attempts to closes or cancel via task manager. Once it goes away I have full access to itunes. The message appears only when starting iTunes and then again when connecting the iPod (when the iPod accesses iTunes)
to try to correct this problems I have
1. searched for viruses
2. updated my CD/DVD-rom audio driver
3. uploaded and installed the 1.2 version of iPod
4. uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of iTunes
5. reset my iPod to factory setting
Any other suggestions. Very frustrated. Just getting hooked on the iPod, but with this error message- I cannot even charge the iPod as it blocks the whole process.

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't work at first. Then I shut down and restarted the computer and the error message did not occur, but just accessed itunes and the error message popped up again. This is really annoying. Any other suggestions?

7th gen nano not recognized by windows 8.1 as a drive OR itunes

When i plug in (USB) my 7th gen nano, my PC (Windows 8.1) doesn't recognize it as a drive (it pops up as a drive for about 2 seconds then goes away) and itunes says its detected but cant be identified properly. My 4th gen nano connects just fine.

Disk password icon appears at startup

When i startup my Mac Air:
my hard drive icon appears along with a Disk Password icon? I recently crashed my computer but was able to off load everything onto an external HD then
reload onto my Mac.

One thing to try is starting up and immediately pressing and holding down the option (alt) key to invoke the Startup Manager.

Itunes startup config every time?

every time i start up itunes i get asked to configure it which is wierd and i tried making a shortcut from the root folder but no luck!
also i heard i may have something to do with hd write access? im dual booting between vista and xp but i use itunes on vista and never had problems before

I have this same problem, everytime I open iTunes it asks me to configure it as if it's a new install. Any new music imported stays, but any changes to the setting I have made are not saved. I hope someone has an answer as this is seriously annoying

The funniest part of the whole situation, Apple Care explained it to me as some kind of feature. The told me how to adjust the time when my computer sleeps and recommend I don't shut it down, let it sleep and "instant wake". I would bet if you called them about your Macbook, they would suggest you just close the lid and let it sleep rather than shutting it down.
Basically shutdown and restart have a problem and the solution is to not shutdown is how they explained it to me. They kept saying buzz words like "instant on" and "fast wakeup". My computer already could sleep and wakeup fast, but now shutdown and restart don't work right. I called them 3 times about it, but since they use these buzzwords, sounds like Lion is meant for a Macbook Air or a Mac with an SSD. If you have a normal hard disk, some of the saving/versions/resume features take too long to be written to the disk on shutdown. And when you start again, it takes a long time to reload the system to it's previous point.
Even if I uncheck the box to reopen windows on next start, it reopens them anyways.
If they can't give me a better explaination or some kind of fix, I will have to go back to Snow Leopard. I use my Mac in a production environment and depend on stability. They assured me before I upgraded that it would be stable and all the new saving and versions features could help my productivity. So far it's not helping me and downright annoying. You need to close all your windows before you close the program... if you have 5 windows open in terminal or textedit... every time you launch, they will launch all those windows. I just really want versions, not resume it seems.
But I can deal with it opening a million windows, just can't take it getting stuck on booting or not shutting down properly. This is a "feature" that should be fixed. LOL

What causes CD's played in combo drive through iTunes to skip?

When I play an audio CD in my eMac combo drive through iTunes, just about every disc I play skips? When I play them on my home stereo CD player or my DVD player in audio mode they all play fine. What could be causing this?

Some of my CD's have slight surface flaws, but the oversampling by the combo drive should take care of that. It does in my video DVD-in-audio-mode player and in my home stereo CD player which does 4x oversampling.
Songs in iTunes do not skip. The skipping is also not the "Max Headroom" type of digital stuh-tuh-tuh-tuttering. It is more like the audio intermittently cutting in and out.
I did some more troubleshooting and discovered that part of the problem was a loose connector. The 3.5mm plug from my external speaker system was not making good contact with the audio out port on my Mac.
The other part of the problem I discovered was that in one of the CD's I was listening to the recording has a sampled vinyl LP in it. The original LP had slightly audible surface scratches on it, and the original analog tape studio recording had dropouts in it. It just sounds real different when played on my Mac through my Klipsch speakers. Here's to that old audio engineering trick where the recording studio mixdown is done through Yamaha studio monitors with the idea that if the engineer can make Yamaha studio monitors sound good, the recording will sound good on everything else. The audio engineer on the Cinematic Orchestra CD titled Every Day apparently didn't use Yamaha nearfield studio monitors
After jiggling the audio connector, Genesis' Selling England by the Pound sounds fantastic once again. Thanks for your input, it helped point me in the right direction. I'll also try cleaning the contacts on my Mac's audio out port with some contact cleaner.

ITunes takes over EVERY shortcut

Have installed iTunes four times on my new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. Each time iTunes takes over every shortcut/icon. Press anything and iTunes opens. Removing iTunes returns all to normal. This can't go on. To whomever can solve this, I will appoint you the Smartest Person in the Universe. Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same problem, which is quite furious since I cant use my iPhone nor my Classic.

No disk in Drive Message

When I run Itunes I get the message "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \device\Harddisk\DR5" .
It appears over the itunes screen but it won't let me do anything and I have to exit through Task Manager.. Any Advice how to solve problem. I have all the current versions of Windows 7, itunes etc. I had a similar problem a while ago and had to uninstall Itunes and reinstall. This just started about two days ago. Thanks

I tried fixing the same problem today and could not seem to find the correct file to delete. I reinstalled several times, trashed the pref files, trashed the temp folder items, even used the Windows Clean Uninstall Utility and no dice.

Error Message...Invalid Drive E when loading ITunes

I have tried to download ITunes for 3 days straight, I keep getting an error message that I have an invalid Drive E. I have done disk clean up, defrag, cleaned out cookies and temp files, what else can I do? Does anyone else get this message? I am dying to use my new phone but I can not unlock or register it.

I have received this error in the past and it is usually caused by Windows automatically changing your external drive letters when you install. There are two ways around it; first, follow the directions provided by b noir. Second, within iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced
Under the advanced options you'll see a recessed section called "iTunes Media folder location". Although you may have set this in the past it, if Windows changed your drive letters it will no longer be valid. Default is usually "C:\blah\blah\mymusic"
Changing it just a matter of clicking "change" and finding your music folder again or change your drive letter back (if it changed at all).
If Windows is changing your drive letters, it is best to set them yourself so that everytime you plug in the devices they use the letter you assigned. Here is a link for that process:
