Windows Millennium OS Runs Adobe Reader 6.0.1

Original Adobe Reader included on Sony Pcv-Rx450 Computer, Aug 2001.
Cannot Upgrade 'Public Domain' Reader to Version 6.0.2 and 6.0.3.
Use Adobe Reader to access Federal Websites to download PDF Files for
Social Security and Internal Revenue Svc Forms.
Apparently my legacy Windows Me OS is No Longer Supported by Adobe.
PC runs with 40 Gbyte Hard Drive, 112 MByte DRAM, and 1GHz AMD Athlon
CPU.

To respondents Mike Kazlow and Pat Willener, thanks for answering my
trouble report of Tuesday 08/19/2008 from Katy, Texas.
I'm aware that Microsoft stopped supporting Windows Me in July 2007.
My intention was to Update my 'Freely Supported' copy of Adobe's
Acrobat Reader up to Version 6.0.6 to minimize User Warnings when
accessing Federal Websites for IRS and Social Security PDF Forms.
On 08/19/2008 I initiated the roughly 6MB Download (approx 18 min at
45K Bps) via my MSN 9.0 Internet Dial-Up subscription. After about
10 minutes of download, the process CRASHED with a 'Corrupted File'
Error Message. I've done similar size Security Downloads from
Microsoft for Windows Me and Internet Explorer 6.0 without failure.
So, I 'drilled down' the Adobe road to Restart the Download, but
the OS Drop-Down Box Did Not Include Windows 98 or Windows Me.
So, I concluded in my Brief Report that Adobe Reader for Windows Me
is No Longer Supported.

  • Authorisations to run Adobe Reader under Windows 8

Under windows 8 with adobe reader 11, I have not been able to launch the program. Each time the system says I don't have the authorisations required (even when I follow instructions to get additional authorisations which I seem unable to obtain despite using the normal sequence of "properties" , "security" " advanced  etc. and in this case I get the following message in the "target" slot"
The name "c:\program files\adobe\READER 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" is not valid. Verify that the routing (?) and the name of the file are correct
when I click on  the Security tag although the location of the programes of Adobe Reader 11 are in fact in the location detailed above. It would seem that windows 8 has a security system that I don't seem to be able to adjust. (I have used Acrobat under Vista and under XP without these problems) . At the moment and after three days of efforts I am still incapable of getting Reader 11 to run..

    (a) After installation of Reader 11.0, the following text appears on the
screen after either double clic on the screen icone or clic on c: directory
    (c:\programmes\adobe\Reader 11.0 :-
    Title: Reader 11.0
Vous ne disposez pas des autorisations requises pour acceder à ce dossier
(Translation (not on screen): You don't have the authorisations required to
    accede to this file)
(There are two tabs ("Continue" and "Cancel")
If one clics on "Continuer" the screen reads:
    Reader 11.0
L'acces à ce dossier vous a été refusé. Pour acceder à ce dossier vous
devez utiliser l'onglet de securité :
Translation: Acces to this file for you has been denied. To acces this
file  you should use the "Security" tab.
    One tab: "Fermer" (Close)
If one then does a right clic on the Reader 11.0 screen icone, and then
clic on "properties" then clic on "Security", I get a listing of "groupes or
users"  which for this computer gives the following : "System", "John
    Willis([email protected]"), "Administrateur (rulepar\Administrateur),
"Administrateurs (rulepar\Administrateurs), "Interactif". Each of these has a  check
    mark against "Controle Totale",
"Modification", "Lecture et execution", lecture", "Ecriture" and the three
"rulepar" entries each have a check mark against "Autorisations  spéciales".
If one clics on the tab "Avancé" then
on the "Autorisations tab  'john willis ([email protected]_
    (mailto:[email protected]) ), 'Administrateur  (rulepar\Administrateur), "INTERACTIF",
"Administrateurs  (rulepar\administrateurs), "Systeme"  all have "Controle Totale"
,  "Interactif" has "Lecture et Execution"  and "Administrateyr
(rulepar\Administrateur) and "john willis ([email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) )
    have "Special"
on the "Partage" (share?) tab there are two entries (Type = Autoriser"
Principal for "Administrateurs (rulepar\Administrateurs) and "Tout le monde

  • Print from Windows Explorer Right Click (Adobe Reader X, WinXP)

When I right click on a batch of PDF files in Windows Exploer (WinXP) and click "Print" Reader used to print them all to
my default printer.  With Reader X windows waits patiently for me to close Reader before printing each file.

    Take a look at: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/797804?tstart=0

Subject: Print from Windows Explorer Right Click (Adobe Reader X, WinXP)
I am also getting exactly the same problem, highlighting multiple pdf files right clicking and choosing "print" prints the first document, fails to close the adobe x window and sits there patiently untill it's manualy closed and then the next document prints  - repeat - loop.
Have this happening on just about every windows xp machine in the office that I try it on and any and all versions of "Adobe X" that I care to install.
would love a fix for this, reinstalling 9 manually on every PC would waste a day of my life.

I am using Adobe Reader X on a laptop with Windows Vista OS and Adobe Reader XI on an older laptop with Windows XP OS.  While filling out the same form on each computer, I have found that I can save info on the older laptop, but not on the newer one.  This is a big problem.  I must be able to save on the newer computer.  Do I need to buy a new computer with a more up-to-date OS?  Please help.

Adobe Reader X can only save reader-enabled forms. Adobe Reader XI can save all forms.

    Hi Ahmet,
Are you facing the issue with all the pdfs or any specific pdf?
Was it working fine for you before?
Try repairing Reader from the 'hlep' menu and check if that works.

    manager.
Can someone help me launch it from cmd.exe or powershell_ise to display a pdf file?
I just downloaded and installed the Adobe PDF reader and I cannot execute the reader c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe. I get no error messages and no GUI display. What is going on?

    Hi,
As far as I know, that Windows 8 has a reader by default, it seems like it is Microsoft Reader. It could used to read PDF file. And I have not ever use powershell to manage to use it.
The  PDF reader is a Modern UI app; we cannot run Modern UI apps on the desktop. So I don't think powershell could manage it.
