  • Windows Mobile issues re Flash Player

Hi - I am trying to install Windows Mobile on to my PC and it is proving a frustrating experience.  Each time I try to load it states "You need Flash Player 8 or later.  If you already have it this might be corrupt so please re-load" .  I have tried installing FPlayer (v10) many times and am told that this has been successful, however I cannot progress past this same comment "You need..." i.e. cannot load the disk.  I have searched this issue and it seems that there is a known issue regarding MS / Adobe Flash Player - something to do with 'permission' but I am unable to find anywhere that (i) explains this so that I can understand it (ii) suggests a solution in layman's terms (iii) has a link to a solution that works - they all say Error.  I have tried re-booting, closing all apps before uninstalling old Flashj Player etc but no luck. Any suggestions much appreciated !

    Hi Devin,
You would still need the (full) Flash 9 player on your mobile as that is the version of Flash that Xcelsius is generated for. Flash Lite will not work either because that is a cut down version of the flash player...
Maybe Adobe will create Adobe AIR for mobile devices (and support the Flash 9 player), we'll have to wait and see what happens...

  • How to install the JRE that comes with JME 3.0 to a Windows Mobile device

    From Sun's JME download page:
Integration with 3rd party emulators and Windows Mobile devices
The new Java ME Platform SDK architecture allows integration of 3rd party emulators and devices. Java ME Platform SDK comes with Sun's Java runtime environment for Windows Mobile. A user can install this runtime on a Windows Mobile device or a Microsoft device emulator and experience all the on-device features of Java ME Platform SDK.*
My question is, how can I install the Java runtime environment that comes with Java ME Platform SDK 3.0 to a Windows Mobile device. I am a newbie in this device programming and I'm setting up my development environment. So far, I have installed JME in my computer, and have also installed both the Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 emulator. I've been searching the internet for answers, but it always points me to using a third party java runtime such us Mysaifu, etc. I would like to stick with what is packaged with JME if possible.
If anybody assist me or direct me to an online documentation on how to do this. All help is greatly appreciated :-)

I had some success installing on a real Mobile 5 device [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5344195]
There is a link to a doc on the main download page, item 5 under How to Install. [http://java.sun.com/javame/downloads/sdk30ea.jsp] I used this for the real device, Treo 700w. Did not try it with an emulator.
The support looks to be an emulator rather than a JVM per say. But then again I could be wrong on that. I too had poked around looking for a JVM, CrEme, J9, etc..
I do have a commercial app installed on the Treo that uses IBM's J9, which is seems requires a contact with a sales person to get ahold of. I had hoped to find something that might clue me in on how to "hook up" my own J2ME app with the J9 installed by the commercial package. But I've pretty much decided to get a real J2ME handset rather than continue to waste my time hacking up something with WM. Now the question is which one makes a good reference platform?

  • Is there a version of flash player that works on windows mobile 6.5?

    Hi,
Forgive me if this question shows my ignorance but is there a version that can be installed that works with wm6.5?  When I visit web pages on my device that have embedded flash content I am advised that I need to update my version of flash player but the link takes me to an Adobe page that doesn't seem to have a version that will work for my device.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

I've been reading lately about Apple's ongoing battle with Adobe over mobile apps and Flash. What I've gotten from all of it is that Apple wants to develop a mobile format replacement to Flash, and Adobe wants to block it. Apple's contention is that Flash is too bulky and consumptive for mobile apps and content. Apple has barred any mobile apps for iPhone and iPad from containing any Flash code, and Adobe says that has hurt their development of SDKs for people who want to make iPhone apps. It's turned into a regular peeing contest.
I would have to assume that Apple iPhone, DROID, and Windows Mobile all have the same issue with Flash content and software, since they all have to fall within the standards for mobile communications in order to be "universally accessible" by all the companies that make PDAs, tablets, and phones.
I've yet to see a Flash Player download for Windows Mobile, and given the current environment, with HTML 5 coming soon, it's not likely I will.

  • Flash 7 and Windows Mobile 5.0

I have a Windows Mobile 5.0 device (Verizon PPC 6700) and
just bought a small app that requires Flash 6.0. This site talks
about 7.0 being the latest (and being backwards compatible). I
installed the app by placing the .cab file on my device and
clicking on the file...which kicked off an install program on the
device and it seems to have installed correctly. I rebooted the
device but don't see any setting / programs for Flash 7.0 (although
it does show up in add / remove programs). Is this installed
correctly? My purchased app won't run and it's supported on this
device as well....the developer is blaming Flash and telling me
it's not installed. The Flash 7.0 download page indicates
compatibility with Windows Mobile 5.0....any advice?

Can you see this on your device?

If so, then Flash is installed fine. Note, though, that Flash
    content will
only play when viewed in a browser (html file) or when
    embedded in an
application using ActiveX or similar. So if you are tryting
    to play a swf
    file, that won't work.

  • How can I flash my Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM to Firefox OS?

Hello. I am the very last user running Windows Mobile 6.5.3, the old and abandoned operating system by Microsoft. As a Mozilla's enthusiast, I am really interested in using Firefox OS, however I can't find any ways to install such OS into my phone. May I know any guide on how to put Firefox on my Sony Ericsson Aspen?
    Device specifications are as follows:
    - Sony Ericsson Aspen
    - Running Windows Mobile 6.5.3 (Original OEM ROM)
    - Qualcomm MSM7227 CPU
    - ARM11 with the speed of 600MHz
    - 256MB RAM
    - Flash size is 512MB
    - Data Bus 32bits
    - Internal Storage 267.39MB
    - Display is QVGA (320x240)
    - Colors 65536
    - Bluetooth is 2.0 with EDR and A2DP
A very professional ROM flasher is very welcomed to give me guidelines on how to achieve this. Thank you.

You will probably find that Adobe.com is using Flash 8 or 9
    content, hence
the crash. Since most up-to-date web sites will be similar,
    you may find
Flash 7 is largely unusable for web surfing.
    Just speculating.
    I don't know for certain.

"Does anybody have an idea how we can get Flash to get more memory from the system, please?"
We've encountered this problem a year ago.
    There are 2 solutions :
    - compress MP3/FLV at the maximum (in file size) to reduce memory consumption and set a timer of 60 seconds before loading another MP3/FLV to let the garbage collector of Flash Player to free memory.
    - use an external MP3 Player (Windows Media or TCPMP), if you configure the player to launch automatically when double clicking on .mp3 files, you just have to call fscommand("launch", "test.mp3");
The problem is then to hide the MP3 Player.
Using Janus-Flash, you can "Set Top Most" Flash Player so the MP3 Player is hidden.
Using this method we managed to play 15 MB MP3, and switch almost instantly to another big MP3 file.
Check Janus-Flash Forum to find the solution. The exe to set top most is called "Janus Kiosk.exe".
    Best luck.

  • Flash on PDA running Windows Mobile

    hello
i am developing application on PDA platforms. This is the device i am suppose to target.:
    http://fifthmedia.biz/mobile.htm
I have asked them to install flash player 7 for ppc, but they say the swf file does not run even after installing the player. The de
    vice runs windows mobile 6.1
can you please let me know why ? Is flash player not supported on this device ?
They say it runs in browser. But cannot run swf directly. so what do i have to do to create a standalone application ?

Windows Mobile 6.1 can run a flash lite 2.1 content using a standalone flashplayer. You can find it somewhere on the web.
Then you need to compile your SWF in Flash Lite 2.1 format using Flash CS3 or CS4.
Flash Player 7 for pocket pc is different from Flash Lite 2.1 !
Don't use FP7, it sux. It is outdated and old !
    Use Flash Lite 2.1 instead.
To deploy, just send the .swf file to the PDA. somewhere. Doubleclicking it will launch your app. If Flash Lite 2.1 is installed on the PDA of course !

  • Playing Shockwave Flash (.swf) in Windows Mobile 6

We have developed a web application that ultimately presents as a .swf file. This runs on a pc through a browser. I would like to demonstrate the app on a Windows Mobile 6 device (HTC). I am completely confused about whether this is possible and what I need to install to enable this. I have installed Flash Player Lite 2.1 but this does not play the .SWF. Can anybody help, please? The phone as IE & Opera browsers pre-installed but no Flash player.

Thanks for this but the .SWF file is still treated as a download and
does not play in the browser. On another forum  somebody said that this
is because IE for WM6 does not suport ACtiveX which is needed to install
    the plugin.
I have now (partially got round the problem) by using a new
flash-supporting b rowser called SkyFire. This runs the .SWF but does
not present full-screen and does not recognise flash entry fields as
text so does not give access to the virtual keyboard, which is a little
annoying. This is a new product so hopefully later versions will be better.
