Windows Multipoint Server 2012 black screen - screensaver pops up frequently
Hi,
After install WMS 2012 and patch WMS-KB2791647-ENU-x64, all hardware drivers and patches, the system ran well for 2 days, but then the screen
saver pops up frequently with visible mouse pointer.
When
the screen saver pops up and I move
the mouse, the desktop near the mouse appears but soon the screen switches from desktop to screen saver. Please check the video below:

The issue is gone in safe mode.
Disabling screensaver doesn't work.
The graphic card is Nvidia Q600, with latest driver.
Can you provide more information about the setup you have for your server? Specifically whether or not it is domain joined or not and whether there are any specific policies that might have changed to trigger the behavior? Also, the information about the
number of users, types of user (domain/local), the types of station (USB direct connect, thin clients, zero clients, etc.) would be helpful.

I resolved the issue by exiting the Document Folder, doing a CTRL+ALT+DEL, signing out of the WmShell account, and logging back in as Administrator > Local Machine name.
Once in go to Control Panel > User Accounts and delete all references to wm???????
Reboot the server and it should come back into normal client mode. -

I recently bought windows multipoint server 2012 from Microsoft which comes with windows 8. I am having trouble with installing display drivers from my computer's manufacturer. The display device is Intel (R) G45 express chipset. Intel only supports
windows 7 and when I try to troubleshoot it's compatibility, the driver still does not work. I get an error notifying me that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. My computer system is 64 bit and the drivers I download are meant
for 64 bit systems, I am currently using Microsoft basic display adapter and when I try to automatically update the driver it says that the drivers are up to date
why do I get the error that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCEI had the most up-to-date Intel driver installed, as far as Windows can determine (right click Intel display adapter -> update drivers, search automatically). I was also using that exact download you linked me to.
I also tried switching my graphics card to dedicated discrete mode in BIOS, which made my device ID change, but it too was not supported. I have since managed to reinstall the old drivers from 2010.
Is there some place I can go to download a more recent version of the Intel drivers than Windows can find automatically? -
WMS 2012: Black screen to every client
I use Windows Multipoint Server 2012. I have 6 clients per server. Every server has 3 graphic cards with 2 exodus each one (one VGA and one DVI). I also have 6 simple USB hubs, plugged into server (every usb hub has one mouse and one keyboard).
The problem is that many many times when server stats, cannot connect with clients and all i get is a black screen (keyboard and mouse don't work) to the monitor of every client. I have to restart again and again to finally see login screen at clients monitor.
This happens almost every day...
Graphic card's drivers are installed. Windows multipoint server 2012 is updated.
Does anyone know why this happens?
Thank you very much..I'm having same problem. I have a server with 2 GFX cards. It works fine until it goes into low power mode then when yo move the mouse to wake the clients the monitor reacts and the light goes green as if it is waking, then we get a black screen with no
login prompt.

Multipoint Server 2012 - Display Sleep
I have several WMS 2012 boxes with Atrust m300 zero clients. I am having an issue since upgrading from WMS 2011 that my zero clients displays don't sleep. The direct connected ps/2 stations display will sleep, but all other clients won't.

Per this technet article it sounds like I would need to enable the SessionIdleTimeout regkey to disconnect the idle sessions. I have enabled this key, but it does not appear to be doing anything on my multipoint server.
I guess my question is does anyone with USB attached zero clients have display sleep working in some fashion?Windows Multipoint Server is not a supported platform at this time. See http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7006589.

We have installed the Client 2 SP3 (IR2) on Windows Multipoint Server
2012. On startup the error "The domain name is not valid. Please try
again" appears. If we click past this error the windows login screen
appears. If you click on the icon of the most recent user the user name
WmsShell appears along with a populated password field. If you press
enter the WmsShell account logs in without problems and the multipoint
server continues to log in and the Novell login screen appears and users
can log in without any problem.
The issue we are having is that the WmsShell account should be logging
in automatically without any intervention. If we uninstall the client
the Multipoint Server logs in correctly but after installing the client
again it comes back. The only thing I can find is this TID 7008643. A
new release of the client seemed to take care of that issue.

Windows Multipoint Server Station Connection Issue
I'm trying to join our Windows Multipoint Server (2012 Premium) to our domain. After joining the server to our domain and restarting the server, I receive the following message when the primary station begins to load.
The station is attempting to connect to localhost.
Press the ESC key to switch to console mode
The connection failed with the following error:
The remote computer requires Network Level Authentication, which your computer does not support. For assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support.
Error code: 0xB09:0x0.
We have some of the Dell Wyse E02 Zero Client on the way, not sure if these will experience the same issue. I would assume so since its related to Network Level Authentication.
NOTE: Our Domain Controllers are configured as follows within Local Security Setting.
Send NTLMv2 response only. Refuse LM & NTLM
Any insight into possible resolutions is greatly appreciated.

on the Microsoft Product Use Rights(PUR) is mentioned that for using Multipoint Server Premium, you Need MPS CALs+windows Server CALs.
only with this exceptions:
CALs are not required to access server software running a Web or HPC Workload.
CALs not required for access in a Physical OSE used solely for hosting and managing Virtual OSEs.
Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 Connector:
You may install and use the Windows Server 2012
MultiPoint Connector software on any device that is licensed to access Windows Server 2012. You may use this software only to access the MultiPoint Server software.
If you access the server software from this device solely to use the MultiPoint Dashboard you do not need a MultiPoint Server CAL.

RemoteFX issue when running Multipoint Server 2012 Premium as VM on Hyper-V
I have a server setup running Hyper-V 2012. I made a Multipoint 2012 Premium VM and added RemoteFX. After installing I went to Device Manager on the VM and noticed that the display adapter was showing as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and
there was an unknown device which I assume is the RemoteFX 3D adapter. I updated the integration services and ran Windows Updates, but still cannot get RemoteFX to show up properly in the VM.
Does Windows Multipoint Server 2012 not support RemoteFX when running as a VM? I can't really run this on bare metal since I am looking at supporting more than 20 stations and therefore would need to run multiple instances virtualized on
the same server running Hyper-V.The server I have setup for this test is a Dell R720 and the video card is an AMD FirePro S7000. I am using the latest stable AMD FirePro driver (ver. 13.352.1006.1001).
I also went ahead and setup a Dell OptiPlex 7010 with an AMD Radeon 5450 (which is DirectX11). I setup Server 2012 Hyper-V and again with Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V. Both times I was unable to add the RemoteFX 3D adapter. I am beginning to
think that it is not possible.
Are you running Multipoint 2012 server virtualized on top of Hyper-V with RemoteFX enabled in the virtualized server (and showing so in Device Manager)? -

I am using Windows Multipoint Server 2012 Premium evaluation version. How can I work on a station, with integrated touch feature, without a keyboard?

Windows Server 2008 black screen with mouse *PLEASE HELP*
Hello fellow techs,
I have been tearing my hair out for the past 12hrs on this issue.
About 3 weeks ago, one of our clients reported that they were experiencing
issues on the network so one of the staff went into the server room and noticed
the screen was black with only the cursor. As they couldn't reboot, they
decided to hold the power button to power it off. When they powered it back
up, it went passed the windows loading
splash screen, and again the screen is black with
the mouse pointer in the center of the screen.
I am diagnosing the server and find that at the black screen, I’m able to move
the cursor and beyond that nothing happened. I started in safe mode with the
exact same results.
I have been trying many different solutions from posts that I have found in
Google but no change.
From other machines you can type \\servername in
the run box and see the shared folders, as well as ping it.
This is a very urgent request as I need to have the Server back up and running
by tomorrow.
I am quiet willing to pay for phone support with anyone that can assist as soon
as possible. I am happy to transfer founds via Paypal.<o:p></o:p>

Before going further, would you please let me know whether there were any changes on the affected server? Has windows update or any new device been added? Please also check your shadow copies.

Unable to assign Wyse E02 Zero Client in Microsoft Multipoint Server 2012

I am implementing and lab classroom for 20 client to be connected on 2 HP Z230 workstation with Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD. It will be 10 clients on each workstation.
Everything is connected to a HP switch.
I have sucesfull installed the Muitipoint Server 2012 and it is fully updated with latest Microsoft updates.
I have also installed the Wyse E02 driver on the server so that I can view the station on Multipoint manager.
On the "Network stations" tab, I checked the box from the specific client and click on "Assign to this server". While processing I get the following error:
Client Name: Network Zero Client
IP: x.x.x.x
MAC: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
The network is busy. Please try again later.

Muhammad A. IsmailSo, my Wyse E02 eventually showed up in Multipoint Manager and I was able to assign it to the sever but it appears to constantly connect and disconnect. Most of the time now the client just shows the black screen stating "Waiting for assigned host.
Ensure the assigned PC is running Windows Multipoint Server in station mode." Then I will see it disconnect and the screen will go to sleep and then will come back a few seconds later when MP Manager shows it reconnect.
My Hyper-V server (which Multipoint Server is running on as a guest VM) is in the datacenter and my thin client is in my office for testing purposes. I have them in the same vlan. Is this not a supported configuration? For a quick
test I setup the Multipoint Server trial on a standalone OptiPlex and connected the Wyse terminal to the same 5 port Linksys switch and everything worked fine.

PavelI found an issue with Multipoint Dashboard that when student select to signout and then select "Cancel" to signout to go back to the session, the Multipoint Dashboard filtering is no longer applied to the session.
here is the scenario -
- Student login to the Multipoint server using the end point device as an standard user.
- The Multipoint Dashboard has the configuration to "limit the website to all desktop". "cnn.com" only
- The student session, limits the use of the web browser to only to cnn.com - this is working.
- Studen open an app like notepad - click save --> prompted him to where to save the file.
do not save the file. leave the "Save as" windows open.
- Click Start (left bottom corner)
- Click the account’s name on the top right corner, Click Sign Out
- It will prompt you with a warning that there is a file open and needs to be saved
- "Signout anyway" or "Cancel"
- student select to "Cancel"
- He is now back to the session
This will allow the student/account logged in to bypass the web filtering
