Windows not recognises content on bootcamp partition

So i start ip my mac in my windows partition and i start it as per usual without safe boot. After the starting up windows screen the screen just goes black and doesn't do anything. The only solution i've found so far is to fully reinstall windows and all my content but i have about 300GB of content now so that wouldn't be helpful.

What version of windows is it? You could try repairing windows from the install disk.

  • Is it safe to upgrade windows 8 to windows 8.1 using a bootcamp partition?

I have installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Pro using bootcamp. But I like to upgrade to Windows 8.1, is it safe to directly upgrade using Windows 8? Is bootcamp still going to work properly?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes. I instaled WIndows 8.1 on my Bootcamp Partition, and it ran fine. Windows 8.1 is simply an "update" for Windows 8.

  • Free space not showing after shrinking BootCamp Partition

I gave a lot of space for the windows 8 bootcamp partition because I thought I am going to install Lots of stuff on it.
After 3 months I found out that my lion partition is almost full!  And I have 100 GB of free (Unused) partition on my bootcamp partition.
So I shrunk my bootcamp partition (in windows) by 60 GB.  I plan to expand my lion partition in OSX so then I restarted my mac.
Next I went to disk Utility and found out that I can't expand my lion partition with the free space.  Until then I realized that lion and windows have different file systems (oops.)  so I decided to expand my windows partition back to normal.
Then I went back in windows and found out that the free space is not showing in disk management!  What should I do next??
The free space is showing on top but when I right-click the windows partition the "Extend volume" option is greyed out.
PS I dont care about the mac partition now.  Did some cleaning with CCleaner and freed 10 GB

you should have asked first to get some ideas? I would have recommended Paragon CampTuneX which is designed to resize those partitions for you.
You want to have 20-30GB free space for any OS. If you were using an SSD, at least that much or even more.
I have no idea if iPartition or gpart can help you now.

  • Hard disk not detected after formatting bootcamp partition

I am using rEFIt (with OSX, Fedora 13, and Windows7) on my MacBook. I formatted the BootCamp partition (Windows7) using DiskUtility because I wanted to revert back to WindowsXP. After reformatting I rebooted my MacBook but I cannot get to see the rEFIt options. I used the Installation DVD that came with the MacBook, opened DiskUtility and I cannot see my hard disk on the available disks. Need help badly... Thanks!

The tests from the Assistant are not as comprehensive or reliable as the full hard drive test in the BIOS....tap F10 as you power up, go in there and find the hard drive test. Run the long form test and see what is says. It is not unusual for hard drive issues to start as intermittent and gradually get more frequent. If your drive passes the long form test you can fairly safely assume it was a one-time gremlin of some sort, but it is still a real good idea to back up. I like the idea of the online backup services and I will name Carbonite only because it is well known and not as an endorsement. There are several more and an external drive is also a good idea.
You cannot put off a reboot forever; you are going to have to confront the issue at some point.

  • Mac Book Pro/iTunes will not recognise content of freshly burned cd

    Hi
So...my drive will recognise bought dvds and burned dvds. It will also recognise the content of shop bought cd. I can also burn cds and dvds. HOWEVER, it will not recognise cds burnt for me from other peoples (apple) machines. It simply says that the cd is blank. This is the same whether the cd is an mp3 cd, an audio cd or a datadisc. I have also tried to open the cd's in Quicktime and VLC but it still will not recognise.
Can anyone help m with this one? Do I just need to get a lens cleaner and if so are lens cleaners that you insert into the machine safe to use ?

    So...
    It would appear that now:
I cant burn dvds using toast or dvd studio pro.I can however play burnt dvds.
I cant play burnt cd's using itunes or quicktime but I can burn cds using iTunes.
Im so puzzled that any help would be brilliant.thank you.

  • Why is Windows not popping up in bootcamp anymore?

I have had bootcamp installed for almost a year now. My college set it up for me and everything has been running fine. For some reason today ( I am not sure if anything changed since the last time I used it) I went to start up my Mac OS X Version 10.6.8, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 MacBook Pro (4GB 1333 MHz DDR3). It naturally opens with windows (usually) but this time time said "Press any key to boot from CD. Disk Error. Press any key to restart." I tired going into my bootcamp assistant but when ever i tired to get anywhere in it it said this " The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. Back up th disk and use disk utility to format it as a single mac os extended (journaled) volume. Restore your informaiton to the disk and try using boot camp assistant again."
Any Ideas? Ive researched it a little bit but I have resorted to forums. If you know how to fix it be as detailed as possible with what im supposed to do and I will try to reply as soon as possible to try and get this fixed ASAP.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    ~Mike

Sounds like your GUID partition table is screwed up. The entire drive will have to be reformatted and all data will be erased, it's the most extereme proceedure unfortunatly.
The first sstep your going to have to do is recover the OS X data off to a external drive, don't use TimeMachine for this, just a storage drive and copy your users folders to it and disconnect.
    Most commonly used backup methods
    Drives, partitions, formatting w/Mac's + PC's
Next your going to have to install Data Rescue ($100) into OS X to read the 1's and 0's of the data in your Windows partition and copy that to another hard drive.
Next your going to need to erase and install 10.6 from the 10.6 disks.
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Next your going to need to set up Windows again (only Windows 7 in bootcamp now)
If your not into 3D gaming or other heavy CPU use of Windows, need to run Vista or XP, you may want to opt for virtual machine software which runs Windows (all versions) in a window on OS X, it's much safer and easier as you can revert to earlier snapshots to avoid problems and malware.
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?
If your not capable of doing all this, hire the services of a local Mac/PC tech.

  • Windows doesn't pick up BOOTCAMP partition

I can create the partition in bootcamp just fine, but when I go to install XP, it only finds my main partition and my external drive, and not the bootcamp drive. Any suggestions?

    hey ch88,
when you say "main partition" do you mean the whole drive or just your OS x install?

    I think this might help!
    1. Go to My Computer
    2. Go to Manage and then Device Manager (if you have Vista just click on System Properties up at the top and then on the left-hand side you should see Device Manager.)
    3. In Device Manager you should see portable devices or something similar and there will be a thing directly under it that says unrecognizable device or once again something similar.
    4. Click on that and you should get an option that tells you you don't have the device driver for the unrecognizable device, and you should get the option to download that.
    5. I just downloaded the driver and my computer automatically found it on the internet, and now it works.

  • Windows Not recognising iPOD Mini ?

My ipod charges when connected to the PC through USB port.
But Itunes does not show the iPOD.
My computers does not show iPOD.
Device manager shows Unknown Device under USB.
I have followed all instructions in the iPOD support and have installed and uninstalled the iTunes many times.
But the status is the same.

Can someone help me figure out how to get my Ipod Mini to be recognized by my computer and Itunes? I plug it into the USB port but nothing happens except the Ipod shows that it is charging. The computer or Itunes doesn't seem to see My Ipod Mini at all. Please Help!!!!

  • Shuffle not recognised as an iPod by Windows + not recognised by iTunes???

    Hi,
My daughter was bought an iPod Shuffle for her birthday by a friend. When I first went to plug it in, it didn't sync with iTunes (which I use successfully with my own iPod Classic) but instead showed up as 'mp3' on my list on My Computer and prompted me to open as if it were jusu a memory stick.
I was able to transfer songs directly across into the folder, but then found that it didn't play m4a's copied from CD, or m4p's bought from the iTunes Store by my daughter!
And then, to top it all off, when I plug it in to charge the green light flashes briefly then goes out, and doesn't seem to charge!
It was bought from a supposedly reputable eBay seller by a friend, but came in a 2 Gb box even though it's only a 1 Gb one, plus didn't have a dock with it, only a USB to phono cable. Now I don't know if it's just the wrong cable or something else wrong, but I've tried everything I can find on these forums and on the Apple website to no avail and it's driving me crazy!
Can anybody help before we try to enter into a dispute with the seller?
    Thanks,
    Andy

IF it plays mp3s that are directly loaded to it without using iTunes to manage it, it's a knock-off clone of the shuffle (eg FAKE)... the other clue that it isn't a shuffle is the USB cable. Shuffles come with a dock with cable attached.
Also, is the on-off switch next to the earphone jack as in this image:
