Windows not Recognizing my iPhone 4 in dfu mode

I am running Windows 8 (up to date) and iTunes 11.1.0 (most current). When I place my device in dfu mode, windows says that the driver malfunctioned and it cannot recognise my iPhone 4. I looked online for a driver to download manually, but I can't find one anywhere! Thanks so much!

I have a 3gs, and I haven't updated it for a long time because I always have issues when I do. I tried to update the ios today, and it decided to update it to 6.1.3 instead of 7, I didn't think there would be a problem, so I clicked ok. When I came to check on my phone, itunes said there was an error with the update, and my phone was in recovery mode (plug-in sign on the screen). I looked up multiple things to try, I tried putting it in DFU mode, still itunes doesn't see it. The computer also doesn't list it under devices, however when it is plugged in the Apple Mobile Support USB Driver shows up in device manager. No, it is my phone that I've had since 2009. I just hate updating it because every time I do something goes wrong. So I put it off as long as possible. I am getting a new iphone, but I read that to have your backup transfer to the new phone, it must be a backup from the current ios.

I am having several problems. I recently upgraded to ios7 and now my PC (Windows 7) is not recognizing my iphone. 1) I am getting an error message when itunes opens: "Itunes could not connect to the iphone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iphone before it can be used with itunes." How did it get locked and how do I unlock it without losing my data? What do they mean by passcode? I don't have a 4-number code to get into my iphone activated. In fact, I've never had a passcode.
2) I cannot download my photos from my iphone onto my computer because my computer doesn't recognize my iphone. In other words, my iphone does not show up on my computer (no iphone icon, no DCIM folder).
3) This is a separate issue but it is also very confusing: I went online to check my iCloud and I cannot see any data (icloud.com). But I know that I set up iCloud when I upgraded to ios7 and it backs up my data every night. What am I doing wrong, am I unable to see my data and photos?
Why is this happening? It was bad enough that when I upgraded to ios7, I lost my Notes - I have no idea why they didn't return. But now essentially my iphone is not recognized when connected to my computer and this is very frustrating. I have read numerous previous postings regarding downloading photos onto the PC and regarding this passcode error and cannot find a resolution, so I would appreciate any help.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I am not able to restore my iPhone 4 from DFU mode.......

Plug it into your computer and contineously hold the power and home buttons, it will take around 15 seconds, but you will see the Apple logo and your iPhone will be back to normal.

Are they consistent (is it always the same files that work properly and the same ones that don't)?
Do analyze them with GSpot and post the images here. That will also answer Bill's question about audio formats.

try another usb port
try another cable
update itunes to latests
check if iphoto can see it
test with another computer to see if it does detect it you can use a windows pc too
if non of those tests give any success then one should suspect the connector in your iphone is damaged
