Windows on mac -Parallels vs. BootCamp?  Any advice?

I need to put Windows on my MacBook Pro 2008.  For medical reasons, I can no longer carry two laptops to and from work but one of my jobs uses govt. regulated programing not compatible w/Macs or anything above Windows 7.
I have purchased Win Pro 7 and was fully intending on installin using BootCamp.  Having thought about it, it would be better if I keep most of what I do, open in my Mac side while that one program and Outlook is open in Windows.  I have Word and all the office programs for Mac, so I don't really think I'd need much more happening on the Windows side.
I'm a little afraid about how slow my machine might be if I use them both through parallels as compared to using Boot Camp. On the other hand, maybe the time shutting down and restarting in Mac or Windows might be just as much an interruption?
I'm not sure how to choose!  Has anyone been in this situation?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Stalled and Confused....

Thank you!  I have done so much reading on this that my head is swimming a bit.  It seems that both in these forums and else where, people tend to feel best about recommending installing in Boot Camp, trying w/the free 14 day Parrallels trial and then deciding which feels better personally.
I feel like that's perfect for the indecisive like myself but I have no idea how much space I should assign when partitioning.  I was going to go w/50GB but will that be enough?  too much?  How is the average, non-techy, supposed to come up with a number? :/

The error that pops up is:

Please anyone could suggest what the solution could be?
    Thanks.

But my 1 tb hdd is already formatted via ex fat which can work on both mac and Windows no limitation of file size also like if we use ntfs or fat it has a restriction of 4gb file size.

  • Changing to a different operating system was rejected by Adobe (...there is no option available to swap the platform from windows to MAC). Is there any solution?

Although this possibility still existed and Adobe here (Order product | Platform, language swap) states that one can. Was rejected. Any advice?

Platform swaps are limited to the most recent released version only.

  • Windows 7 OEM parallels and Bootcamp, installation sequence?

So ive got a 2013 macbook air and planning on using the OEM licence to firstly create a bootcamp partition, and the having parallels run off the bootcamp partition. Now I understand I might have to go through the whole phone activation the second time. My question is ...what sequence should I use to activate.Should I activate parallels first after the installation of parallel tools or can I just activate bootcamp first????

Ok wow that's cleared a lot up ....I've been researching this for the last few days , and getting mixed views with some saying windows will count the virtual machine as a separate computer and they have all sorts if activation problems .But for the second activation , in parallels , the long digit phone activation should be sufficient ?? Because I really don't look forward to explaining everything to a Microsoft Representative
    Over the phon haha!
This is why I originally suggested that you read the activation directions on the Parallels and Fusion sites. They address the issue of Windows thinking that the VM installation is a second installation of Windows when in fact it is not. This is because you are not installing Windows in Parallels you are only pointing to your single Bootcamp installation of Windows. This is an issue that has been addressed by the VM manufacturers.

  • HT1926 windows error messages when updating itunes - any advice to fix?

I am running Windows 7 home, but when I try to update my itunes I keep getting an error message # R6034 attempt to C runtime library
incorrectly, and then error 7 , windows 1114, microsoft visual C++ runtime library.  All of this is so greek to me, !!  I would appreciate help.
    Thanks

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

    Post relates to: Zire 72

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
You haven't given us enough information, so if you have not already done so, I suggest you go through the Hotsync Troubleshooting support article from Palm, linked below. It covers the causes of, and the and solutions to the vast majority of Hotsync issues.
    http://tinyurl.com/g5jkh
If that article does not help, please post back with exactly what happens when you try to Hotsync, and what you have done to try to get it working again.

  • Overly Excited New User Needs Advice on Windows for Mac

As of Christmas day, I am a proud owner of a new MBP 17" beautiful piece of machinery! I'm coming from a PC so you can imagine my excitement when I opened this gift from my parents. Also, I'm 33 years old so getting a gift this amazing from your parents is pretty huge!
Anyway, the point is I have to use a program for work that is only available for Windows and I just need some advice on whether to use Parallels or VM or just use the free boot camp. I don't want to use Windows for anything other than this program. Is there a way around having to buy the whole Windows OS? Also, is iWork any better than Office? Not sure which of those to buy either. I hate that I even have to have Windows on my new Mac! Thanks for any advice.

Hi eightezsteps, welcome to Apple Discussions!
What program do you need? Often PC programs have equivalents on the Mac platform, or even Mac versions that many people are not aware of. There are very few file formats that Macs cannot deal with.
The choice of Parallels, VMWare, or Boot Camp will also depend on whether you require 3D graphics support with that application. So, we'll need to know what it is!
is iWork any better than Office?
I prefer it to Office now after using it for a year. However, it is different, and there is a slight learning curve to it. Once you discover the differences from Office, you'll be as productive if not moreso. You should be aware that some of the more advanced features of Office are sometimes not included in iWork though. So if you require advanced formulas and macros in Excel (for example) to be cross-platform compatible then you'll need Office. If your work is slightly less hardcore than that, you'll be just fine with iWork once you get used to it.
I do some pretty extensive academic writing (scientific) using Pages and Numbers and I have never ran into anything it could not do for me. That includes formulae and scientific notation.

  • How to move windows 8.1 from parallels to bootcamp?

I just bought a Macbook Pro Retina (late 2013) a few days ago, and installed a windows 8.1 into it using parallels. Now I want to bootcamp my mac because I realize bootcamp play games better than parallels. So I want to ask is there a way to move my windows 8 from parallels to bootcamp

if you need the stuff from the parallels install then use a window backup program and make a backup and store it somewhere external
install windows in bootcamp and restore the backup you took of the parallels virtual machine

  • Elements 11: switched from Windows to Mac   need help w/ serial

My friend upgraded, and no longer uses her Elements 11. She wants to give it to me. However she uses Windows, and I have a Mac. After I downloaded the program and it prompted me to enter the Serial Number, it says "This serial number is not valid for this product" - after some google research I believe it is because the serial number for Windows isn't compatible for Mac.
My question is, is it possible to find the serial number on this product that's compatible for Mac (like, do these products come with two different serial numbers; one for Windows and one for Macs)? Or is it just not going to work on a Mac at all? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

mrjayd, I switched from a PC to a G5 about 6 weeks ago & had the same problem. I used iPodRip which you can find at versiontracker.com. It worked like a charm, recovered playlists, playcounts, everything. Good Luck!

  • 2-way Trust Relationship between Windows and Mac Domain

Hi guys I hope someone can help me.
Just a quick explanation of what I am trying to do.
I have an Xserve running OSX 10.5.8 server, which is the OD Master. On that server I’m running Kerio mail server. I have a Microsoft 2003 server running AD.
The problem is I need to run BlackBerry Enterprise on the Windows server as the BlackBerry need active directory to work.
Since I have both system already running, I do not want to destroy my open directory just to get the BlackBerry working.
So what I have tried to do is create a 2-way Trust Relationship between the 2 domains, so the BlackBerry server will talk to the Kerio mail server.
The trust relationship appears to create fine from the Windows server side, but I’m not able to retrieve LDAP information from the open directory server.
The creation from the OSX server starts fine automated but then I had to finish it manually.
Has anyone else here created a 2-way trust relationship between Windows and Mac’s before? Any help on how you did it would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked on when the computer last checked in and changed the computer account password with the domain?  When a computer changes it's password, Active Directory will store only the current password and it does not expire.  The workstation
will store both the current password and the previous password.  This for cases when you may restore Active Directory to a point before the computer password change.
To handle this, the workstation will try it's current password, then it's previous.
If you're restoring the workstation to a previous point in time, you may be rolling the stored passwords back too far for Active Directory to accept.  I would only imagine this to be the case a handful of times if you're going back 1-2 days.
    Are you experiencing 100% failure?

How to install iDVD from the internet
Download and install Pacifist from here ($20 shareware):
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Pacifist is a install package extractor.
Download an iDVD upgrade package from here (free!):

    Do the following:
Use Pacifist to extract the iDVD.app file from the upgrade package to your Applications folder.
If you try to use iDVD now it will complain about missing themes.
First install some free themes from here: http://www.dvdthemepak.com/
If you open iDVD now you will see some gray themes below those you installed. Click on one. iDVD will update itself. Afterwards click on one of the gray themes again. iDVD will download those themes. (> 500 MB)

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse
