Windows partition inexplicably full - please help!

I just created a 16GB partition on a MacBookPro for Boot Camp to play Star Trek Online. The system requirements for the game was 10GB, but after the install of Windows XP (plus all the updates to date) and then the game, I am getting a low HD space error! No way XP takes up 6GB...? I was under the impression XP only took up about 2GB. I have installed nothing other than XP and the game (and the latest Boot Camp 3.1 drivers).
There is currently 102MB free on the drive.
I would have created a larger partition, but I was unable to do so because I kept getting an "unable to move files" error. I read somewhere that it could be because of disk fragmentation (there is actually 47GB free on the entire MacBookHD), so I ran a defrag app. But I still got the error until I dropped the partition to down to 16GB. Maybe this has something to do with the unaccounted for space on the Boot Camp partition? Just a guess.
Anyway, what do I do at this point? The process of installing XP and the game took several hours and Im not looking forward to doing it again! Is there any way I can salvage the situation?

It's my brother's MacBook Pro and its the only computer he has.
I thought XP took 2GB (I actually read this online somewhere--I didnt pull the # out of a hat) so I did double what I thought and allowed for 4GB, leaving me 2GB for temp files and STOL patches. Unfortunately the info I found was incorrect.
Well anyway, what you say is not necessarily true because I have XP Home with all the updates (including SP3) and it only took up just about 6GB. Add the 10GB of STOL and the remaining for XP maxes out my 16GB partition.
Hopefully it takes up less and I can clean up around 1GB worth of temp files from all the XP upgrades and STOL installation. I just dont know where or how to clean those out--if there even are any.

Windows - No Disk Error - Please help!
    Hi,
I have the following set up:
    * Lenovo T-61p
    * Windows XP Pro, SP 3
    * HP Photosmart 8250 printer (with nothing plugged into the various card readers, and USB slot in the printer)
I am getting the following error:
    Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x75CE023C
    0x84C40C84 0x75CE023C
I have done a lof experimenting and thru process of  elimination, and believe I have determined that this only happens when the HP Photosmart 8250 printer is plugged in to the USB slot of the computer.
I can stop it from happening by safely removing hardware, and removing the drive that the 8250 creates on your computer when you plug it in.  In my case, this is drive E.  I'm guessing if there was something in the the various card readers, and USB slot in the printer, that's what those would be, but I don't those use those functions of the printer.
I understand there is more at work than simply the printer, because I did not used to get this error, so some software changed as well, that is scanning all ports, and finding a drive that has no disk, and producing the error.
A simple google search finds a lot people all over the world having this problem, and are solving it in different ways, because the suspected source is different: Norton, HP, etc.
I have tried everything I have read, and the only thing that works was my own idea, of manually safely removing the drive the printer creates each time I plug in the printer.
Anyone every any better, more permanent solutions?  Or know what the real root of the problem is?  What is scanning all the drives and being showing an error message because it found an empty drive?
    Thanks and Happy Holidays/New Year!

I've been getting the same error on my 4G nano for the past week. I've had my nano for about a month and the first few weeks were fine. Tried it on 2 different computers (Vista and XP) and same problem. Tried it on a 3rd (XP) and it started ok. Problem started coming back after a day.
I was able to find a quick fix though. I noticed that sometimes the message says something like "iexplore.exe... no disk..." even if I don't even use IE. What I do is end iexplore.exe on task manager before running iTunes and syncing my nano. I don't get the error whenever I do this, but one drawback is that the contents of my nano suddenly pops up in a window - even when disk use is not enabled.
I've reset/restored my nano dozens and dozens of times to make sure it's clean. Leads me to believe it's a driver issue. Either that or I have a friggin malware problem I can't seem to find.
I'll be posting updates every now and then. I'm no expert so I'm hoping an Apple expert also steps in to give some input.

Collect the PDFs you want to link to in your site. Then link to them in
the Inspector palette just like you'd link to other pages. If you want
the PDF to open in a new window use target _blank as before.
What actually happens on a visitors computer however depends on whether
they have the PDF viewer plugin installed. In that case the PDF will
display in the browser window. If they don't have it installed, the PDF
will download to their computer and they'll need to open it manually.

  • Windows 7 needs repair, please help !

Hello. I'm a desktop PC user of Windows 7 Professional with service pack 1 on 32 bits. I've tried to resize my partitions using Aomei and Paragon partition managers. I would take away some space (10Gb) from non-system drives, and then try to extend my C
drive, since it's gotten nearly full. Yet Disk Management in Windows never let me to extend C with an unallocated space I took from D. So I used these programs. Now, I had done it once before, successfully. Such programs require restart, to perform a PreOS
actions. Okay, I let it, and when it finished, it came up on the boot with a message:
'Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
    1) Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer,
    2) Choose your language settings, and then click ''Next'',
    3) Click ''Repair your computer''.
Now, since I did not possess such CD/DVD, and since I'm a student of Electronics in Belgrade, I have a privilege to download Microsoft products for free, for studying purposes. I used my mom's laptop and burned a downloaded Windows 7 Professional with SP1
32bit (.iso) successfully. The DVD is correct. Then I insert the DVD into my desktop computer and nothing happens, not even when I restart my computer. And I've restarted it quite a few times. What am I supposed to do now ? Please help me. (:

    Hi,
How's everything going? Have you taken Rick's questions into consideration?
Have you tried to use Last Known Good Configuration as mentioned in the this link, it will bring your system to a state when most recent system settings worked correctly.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/using-last-known-good-configuration#1TC=windows-7
Regarding to the iso (burned to DVD), make sure to boot your PC from DVD (by press a button like F8, it depends on your PC model, you can refer to the PC user manual).

  • Cookies problems on T61 Window's XP Pro,please help....liamo

Hello Forum.....I have deleeted some cookies (only 1kb trpes) individualy.... but cant delete them all, and the one's with 2,3,& 5kb's  no chance.......Ive tried many ways & times but cant get there...please help....thanking you, yours sincerely, Liamo

    Hi,
allright , lets talking about small workspace... instead of small cookies
even when your Windows XP works fine ,but should have enough room to breath...i.e. my install of XP with all needed programs
    is 8 GB ..
double the workspace is the best . for temporary data... so the minimum of partition should be around 16GB
enought to hibernate (size depends on your installed memory) that could be 1-4GB Harddrive room.
Windows itself swap (if you dont set this of) every time from memory to harddrive...
Windows save from time to time (also if didnt set this off) the actual condition .needs room to save...
    and many more...
So If something goes wrong...if you leave only 399MB on HDD free...
..you didnt leave enough space to save, you got broken data...if windows try to save ...
and restore isnt possible, caused by data loss, could be in bad case more that you want to loss...
    I would prefer
    save your personal data (docs,pics,music,video,sheets..)
to external harddrive or usb device.. to prevent of data loss.
Or buy a new larger harddrive ..if u use the default drive .. dont know your size of HDD,
my original was a small 60 /80 GB HDD not enough for me ... all my Thinkpads are equipped with 320GB HDD exept one with SSD 120GB...
all devided in 2 parts for Windows Part & Data storage..
Partition C: 30GB enough room for any actual system leaves 22 GB left XP uses 8GB ...
...second part D: for all of my data... and backup of system part ..
and have more than one external HDD for backup ...
Use CCleaner after daily work is done to keep the system small and fast and do a systembackup one time a week,
with Acronis Trueimage done in 5-10 Minutes.. from time to time i copy this datafile to the external drive..
so that i have a rescue backup in a few minutes...
iam on the save side ...
so what about yours ... do you think your Thinkpad will save ?

  • Windows vista Error response-PLEASE HELP

Recently purchased a new computer w/Vista. Problem is that I couldn't transfer my songs from my old computer, so decided to use IGADGET to transfer from my IPOD. Error:retrieving the COM CLASS FACTORY for component w/CLSID. Please help if you have any idea how I can fix the error. I've installed Itunes 7.11 and reinstalled and it keeps happening.

I don't know about the originator, but I still require assistance. The help link didn't solve my issue, so further help would be welcomed.
I have Vista Ultimate (came with new computer), with the UAC turned off (it was interfering with Microsoft Money). I get the same popup error as noted before, and I've done the regsvr32 on vbscript.dll multiple times. I'm on an admin account, I've used an admin command window, and I've even tried running the iTunes setup as admin, as well as in compatibility mode as XP SP2.
I thought maybe my existing iTunes 7.0 install was interfering, so I tried to remove it via Control Panel, and I got the exact same error. So I can't remove what I have and I can't install the upgrade.
The only good news is that my iPod Photo finally started synching with the computer, if only in manual mode. I can't burn CDs however.
    Assistance appreciated. Thanks.

  • My WiFi name and password has changed. Did someone hack my WiFi? My computer can connect but not my iPhone 5s, and the connection for my computer is full, please help.

Hello, this is my first post.
Well lately I've been experiencing some connection issues with my iPhone 5s. I was on my iPhone just watching Youtube when my iPhone 5s disconnected, I tried to connect again by going to settings> Wi-FI> and then select my network as usual, but the weird thing is that my Wi-Fi network has changed it's name to Wireless, it used to be Wireless710. Also the password has been changed.
My computer can easily connect due to the fact that it is hardwired to the Wireless Cable Modem Gateway.
    Extra Info:
    Carrier is Sprint.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.
My Wireless Cable Modem Gateway is Netgear.
And now I am confused because when I open the small tab with the computer and a plug on the bottom right corner next to the speaker icon it says I'm not connected :/?! Here is a picture of it:
Note that I can not connect to it but am connected on my computer. It just disappeared on my phone and computer, I even unplugged my router waited for 20 seconds and connected it back in. Did it wok? for my computer yes again because it is hardwired, but my phone? No. Wireless 710 still won't show up. Is this a possible hack? Please help me as much as you all can, thank you very much.

Log in to the router's console with a web browser from your computer. What kind of encryption did you have on the router? If it was WEP that's about as secure as no encryption. It should be WPA or WPA2. There has been an exploit reported in Netgear and Linksys routers that allows someone connected to the router if Remote Access to the console is enabled to take it over and install spyware on it.
Is it your router, or the cable providers? If it is yours it has been hacked. If it belongs to the cable provider they may have changed it to make it more secure. Call them.
And if it has been hacked and is yours the best thing to do is to throw it away and get a new, more secure router. Or you can try reflashing the firmware by going to Netgear's site and downloading a clean copy.

Upgraded my itunes yesterday and it failed.  Tried reinstalling and failed again.  Now tried to install several earlier versions and coming up with  windows error 126. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix this?  Please help.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

    Please help me.

I also have the Mcaffe security centre so on the face of it we have very similar situations and I had not problems.
You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.
