Windows Partition Installed - Questions ??

OK, can't believe how easy that was. I been dreading that for two days. Boot Camp is a lovely tool and the Apple software was smoooooooth.
OK, here's some questions:
1. How do I get right click on the touch pad? Two fingers aren't getting it or is there a touchpad icon somewhere? I tried the mouse under Control Panel and not luck.
2. How do I get tap click enabled? Again wasn't an option under my mouse options under Control Panel.
So far, that's it. I am sooooooooo pleased and looking forward to working the Apple side for my audio and video work and for now my other editing suite on the Windows side. I'm sooooooooo glad I took those two PC's back and got the Mac. Now I can retire my old dying Toshiba that I'm typing this one while Windows Update is busy updating :o)

drdimento,
Hey again! You were in the right place to change those preferences (for 2-finger clicking and tap-clicking). You must have been using Windows for too long, man :-D You want to change a preference for the trackpad, right? Well, look in the trackpad tab! (right next to the mouse tab)

  • Windows 7 Install questions, warnings?

Bought Windows 7 Home Premium (Full) cost ~$260 Cad to replace free Windows 7 Ultimate RC 7100 Build. This was necessary because the RC was not recieving critical updates. After install of 32 & 64 Bit OSs, pleased to see update Windows 6.1-KB978207-x86.msu got done. Tester beware.
Two things I've noticed since Saturday install that are different between Ultimate & Home P. where no fine print documentation suggests basic differences. Buyer beware?
    1) Task Manager in 1 graph per CPU shows 8 in Ultimate, 4 in Home P. Though Windows Experience Index is the same in Home P. vs. Ult., I am wondering why they see my ealry 2008 Mac Pro differently? Install was done after rebootcamp in Snow leopard and 1st installed Home P. x64 formatting. I ran Snow Leopard disk for Boot camp install, not my original Leopard disk. I doubt that Home P. will ever see the computer as Ultimate does and so wonder if performance is less accordingly?
    2) In Disk Management the "Offline" function ( Right click Disk 0 icon) is not available in Home Premium. This makes the drive invisible to Windows, rather than doing a Disable in Device Manager.

  • After Installing Lion how do i get the windows partition back?

The Windows Partition is not showing up after installing Lion.
I only get the option of booting Mac or Recovery
How do I get it back.

    Hi!
I had the similar problem, where my windows option went missing after installing Lion. I gave up trying to resolve it and did a clean installation on windows again by re-configuring my Windows partition & install Windows 7 on it. It seems to work well for now...
Apple should have warned us that the Windows partition will be unreadable when u install Lion. Hence, allowing users to back their files up on Windows environment before installing Lion.
Thank god I did not have any important files save in Windows.

  • Cannot use Airport with my Windows partition

I have an Airport that I use with my iMac and never had problems.
But I cannot get Airport to work with my Windows partition installed with Bootcamp (Windows XP SP2).
My wireless network appears in the window among others, but when I choose it, I cannot connect. And the Airport utility also cannot detect my wireless network.
    How do I fix this?

Kindle works just fine on my AirPort Extreme.
You do not have an apostrophe or other type of thing like this in the name of your wireless network, do you?
Is the name of your wireless network a single word or phrase comprised of letters and/or numbers with no spaces?

  • Bootcamp and Windows XP/7 Install Questions

I got an iMac a few months back and want to set up BootCamp for a Windows install.
I have a Windows XP Full install disk w/the product key.
I also have a Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
From what I have read, the newest version of Bootcamp will not install XP, which I could then upgrade to W7 (I assume this is correct).
Can I then install from the Windows 7 Upgrade disk and at some point indicate the XP Product Code?
Secondary question - assuming I get Windows installed and running properly, if I boot to the Mac OS, can it see/access the Windows partition?
    Thanks,
    Steve

If the Windows 7 Upgrade is a full install. What you would do is install, then reinstall over itself. And only then will it activate.
There are upgrades that are to go from Home Premium to Pro and that isn't a full install.
Windows 8 CP is free and works.
Windows 7 System Builder are $99 for Home Premium 64-bit

  • Am I able to install OSX update within a windows partition?

Earlier today, I restarted my computer but unfortunately, I got the circle with a slash through it. I did a bunch of research on the matter and tried everything. I tried booting to recovery and booting to safe mode to repair my permissions but nothing worked.
I also looked into recovering some of my files that I hadn't gotten the chance to back up which included a variety of options that didn't seem to work either.
Then out of pure curiosity, i booted to my windows partition and lo and behold, I got in. I was also able to access all my data from the mac partition. So i went ahead and backed up everything that needed to be.
I have a friend that's been helping me with this and he said that it may be because the OSX partition header is bad rather than the harddrive header. He then asked if there was a recent update that may have something to do with this? Either way i have no idea. So my question is; If there was an update that i didnt get that perhaps caused this, am I able to install it through the windows partition?
    Thanks-

Did your computer come with installer discs? Or, do you have a retail Snow Leopard DVD? If so, then:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Will downloading and installing on an existing Windows partition work?

Thanks to a computer information systems class I have, I'm able to get a downloadable copy of Vista (I can get 7 as well, but I hear that Apple doesn't officially support 7 at this time, not to mention the horror stories of drivers not working properly). I have 2 questions regarding this:
    1. Can I download and install Vista on my Windows partition?
    2. Did Snow Leopard improve the Boot Camp drivers so I won't be seeing things like BSDs or having the fan turning on full blast after a few minutes?
Any and all answers/input is appreciated! Thanks!

    Don't forget about me! :O

  • Bootcamp Win7 - won't boot from Windows partition or even from the Win7 install DVD

    Late 2011 Mac Mini / Lion / Win 7 64-bit Home Premium.
Incumbent Windows partition has happily run for heavy gaming (World of Warcraft) for some eight months.  Now it stops on boot-up before the Windows logo is displayed, with a very dark blue blank screen.  Attempts to boot from the Windows Install DVD yield the same result, portending that there is more than a corrupt MBR at work here.  I have reset PRAM and SMC, just for good measure.  There have been no recent changes to hardware / peripherals.
Rebuilding the Windows partition with Bootcamp stops at same Dark Blue Screen of Death.  Will start Windows sometimes from first switch-on / dead cold Mini, but then not again in the same day.  OS X Lion mode runs perfectly, booting up as usual with no quirks or delays.
Hardware?  Seems unlikely, except for that suspicion of starting from the dead-cold start.

Do not use a USB3 flash drive. Only USB2 flash drives are supported by Windows installers. Depending on whether your Mac came with a built-in Optical drive or not, you may also need a physical DVD.

  • Windows 7 instal: MBR or GPT format, 100MB Reserve Partition or not?

I have some questions pertaining to installing Windows 7 pro 64 bit on an Asus P9X79 motherboard with an Intel i7 3930k cpu.
My boot drive and additional drives are all Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSDs.
I am building this system to run Adobe CS6.
Should I configure my C: drive using the MBR format or using the GPT format?
If using the MBR format, should I install Windows 7 with the 100MB Reserve Partition or without the 100MB Reserve Partition?
With 32GB of Ram what size should my static page file be?  What about with 64GB of Ram?
In this four drive all SSDs system should I leave the page file on the C: drive or place it on one of the other drives?
Should my source media and my project files be on the same disk or on separate disks?
I have found the following guide by Sean Webster to be somewhat helpful:
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdd shttp://
Are there any other Windows 7 install guides that you fell would be helpful?
Thanks much for any guidance you can give me,
    Wylin Tjoelker

You really don't need GPT until you use drives with more than 2TB of storage.  Plus you can only boot to a GPT drive with a UEFI mobo, so I say just leave it at MBR.
    Don't partition any drives.
You also don't need to worry about the page file.  Let Windows handle it.
I prefer to put project and media files on separate drives.

  • Windows Partition Question

    Hi!
I recently purchased a Mac mini (OS X 10.4.7) with Windows XP Pro pre-installed in a partition. I was able to start up the Mac with the Windows XP operating system. However as I am new to Macs I did not know how to get the system to boot with Mac OS X again... and as I was fiddling with settings I probably messed up my Windows partition. I was eventually able to boot Mac OS X again... but now I can no longer boot the Windows XP because I suspect I messed up the Windows partition... can anybody help?
    Thanks!

Thanks for pointing me to the right discussion.

I have recently upgraded my MacBook to OSX Lion. Now I cannot get access to my windows-partition. I cannot choose booting from OSX Lion or Windows. Who can help???

I believe that Lion and Mountian Lion use BootCamp 4.0 and earlier versions used 3.0. I don't use BootCamp but from reading The link below you need to get new drivers, burn a cd and install. Check out #20 on this page.

  • Installing Windows 7 on my bootcamp partition (mid-2009 mac book pro with mountain lion) My computer won't boot from the Windows 7 Install DVD.

    Hello,
I have been trying to install Windows 7 on my macbook pro (mid 2009, MBP53). I have successfully created a bootcamp partition using the assistant. When the computer tries to boot from the windows 7 install dvd, the screen is just black. The dvd spins for a bit, then stops and the computer is just black (no blinking cursor).
Any advice would be very appreciated.
    Thanks.

What kind of an install DVD are you using for Windows?
You can use any DVDs that are hardware specific. Only the full non-hardware soecific DVDs work on the Mac.

  • Bootcamp Windows 7 install issues...can't pick a partition and drivers problem

    I have two issues actually.
    1. When I attempt to install Windows the setup begins but then it says that some required drivers aren't available. It tells me that I can eject the installation CD for this portion and put in a disc that has the drivers, but I can't eject the Windows 7 install disc. The eject key doesn't work and there's no manual eject pinhole on an iMac.
    2. At the beginning of the setup, I'm not getting a prompt that tells me to select the partition to install it on. I don't know if that's supposed to come later but I don't want to install Windows over my Mac OS X partition.
    What am I missing here?

I have this exact same problem with a 2010 iMac. I miraculously installed windows 7 back in 2010, but somehow in 2011 I'm getting this problem.. Please help!
I've tried reformatting my whole HDD, fresh installing snow leopard and then boot camp, and the same exact problem occurs. I am using a retail copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. It is an OEM version - is yours also OEM?
I have also using the windows 7 dvd to usb tool, and connected a usb stick with windows in it, but this doesn't help. I have NO IDEA what drivers windows is asking for on this dialogue box, as this is not specified. The only thing I can think of is drivers to read / write from the hard disk itself?
    I greatly appreciate anyones ideas!
