Windows Password

Hi Forum Gurus,
I forgot windows password for login purposes in my T400. Was using fingerprint from the very first day. Never ever used windows passowrd in past.
Today I decided to create fresh finger prints & decided to delete my old finger print "without" realizing that it will eventually ask for windows password before creating new finger prints!
Now the current situation is:
1) I deleted my finger prints
2) I don't remember the password
What to do?

Hi Dr Khan!
Before this discussion heads in the wrong direction, I'm going to remind everyone that Community rules forbid discussion of how to defeat passwords (since members and readers use them to protect their valuable information and machines). Discussion about using passwords you know is OK.
Remembering the password is the best way.

This is not what happens.  The screen goes black, no curser or anything, then it comes right back on to the same page I was on when it went out.  It doesn't happen when I login, it happens as I am on a webpage or playing a online game.

  • How do i bypass the windows password without password recovery disk

My sister has passed away & Ive been copying her pictures off of her laptop for the family & I havent finished. It logged off last night & now its asking for password & no one knows the password.. Im almost positive there is a way to go around this password but I cant seem to figure it out on my own! Please Help ASAP THANX

    Here are some common methods.

Method 1: Reset Windows 7, Vista, XP Password Via Another Administrator Account

If you have another user account with admin privileges, including built-in accounts in Windows 7/Vista/XP, you can easily bypass other accounts' password using Lusrmgr.msc and Command Line.

    1. Log on Windows 7/Vista/XP with your administrator account. Click on Start, type lusrmgr.msc in the Search box(Win7/Vista) or Run box(Win7/Vista/XP) and click OK.
    2. When the Local users and Groups dialog appears, open the Users folder. Right-click your user account and select "set password", type a new password and click OK.

Method 2: Reset WIndows 7/Vista/XP password with Windows password reset disk
Here is the steps to reset Windows password with password reset disk, bypassing Windows Vista/XP password is the same as this:

Step 1: Login Windows with a incorrect password, it will show you a link "Reset Password.." under the password box.
Step 2: Insert your password reset disk, click the link, When a password reset wizard appears, click Next.
Step 3: Choose the drive name from the pull-down list, click Next.
Step 4: Type a new password in the new password box, and type it again to confirm it. Click Next→Finish. Then you can login Windows again with the new password.

Method 3: Reset Windows password with Windows password recovery program

In this method, you need to load a recovery program on another computer, then burn it to a CD/USB. Boot your locked computer from CD/USB and reset WIndows password offline. This is a universal password reset method.

  • Re: How to reset / recover forgotten Windows password

Forgetting your Windows administrator login password.
With no way to get into the system, you can't even perform basic maintenance, let alone a thorough tune-up.
Formatting is always an option, but we consider that a last resort. (Plus, guess who's going to have to help reinstall all the programs lost after a wipe?)
But all hope is not lost.
There are a few ways to actually retrieve a lost Windows account password. Read on, and we'll show you the light.
    _1st Method:_
The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.
    _2th Method:_
There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available.
    CIA commander:
This tool only works on NTFS partitions, but it works great! You can even use it to copy data from one place to another. But it is not for free.

    Windows password recovery tool:
but I've found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password.

  • How do I remove Windows password from cmd?

    Hi all,
How do I remove the login password from another operating system on my computer using the command prompt?
I have four operating systems that were recovered  from the installation cd due to me having forgotten my password on the original one and that one has all of my music and stuff on there.
So how do I reset the password on an operating system from another operating system? I tried using command prompt from the recovery cd but that didn't do the trick.

You can reset Windows passwords using these.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the drive, put it in a USB enclosure, and access it from another computer?

  • IE 11 asks for *windows* password?

My new T540p came with IE 11, and from time to time, I get a bar across the top of the big window where it's asking me to type in my *Windows* password. Not for whatever site I'm on, but my WINDOWS password. My year or so older T440 does not do this, nor does my non-Lenovo work IE11. There's a red cirle in the far right of the bar, with a "voice balloon" with 4 Xs.
The machine is virus free, but I have no idea why I'm getting this prompt ONLY in the browser. Thoughts?

    Hello.
This is the ThinkVantage Password Manager. If you don't use a Password Manager you can safely uninstall it through Control Panel - Programs and Features - ThinkVantage Password Manager.
If you however want to use it, just right click the icon in the Notification Area, select Settings and adjust what you want it to monitor, which browser etc.

  • Managed ODP provider work with global or windows passwords

I'm trying out the new Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll release 12.1.0.1.0.  When I use a traditional oracle managed user name and password it works fine.  However when I test with a password that is set as "global" in the dba_users view and is set to be linked with my windows password it doesn't work.  I simply get an invalid user/password error message.  Is this supposed to work with this version of the managed provider or will it be made available in a future release?  Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to utilize all the goodness of the managed provider until support for this is added.

  • Recovering Windows password from fingerprint reader

I have used fingerprint reader for a long time and forgotten my windows password. However, I need it now.
I'm running Windows 8 on Lenovo E530 with Fingerprint reader 6.0.200.75.
Is it possible to reveal your windows password in the same way than website passwords? And if it is, how?

    Thank you for assistance.

When requesting help you should always include the make/model of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.
Here is a guide that will help you logon automatically using Win 7.  If you are using another OS, you can search for a guide for it.  This works great if you are the only user.  I use this method everytime that I reinstall my OS.

  • Fingerprint Reader not working after windows password reset

    Hi There
I was using windows login (single admin user) and fingerprint reader to login to my Thinkpad T510. Yesterday night I changed windows password and I didn't update finger print. Unfortunately I am not able to login when I tried to login using windows login today, I forgot the password and when I tried finger print reader it is just throwing error.
Why finger print is not working after windows password reset? What should I do to login?
    Help would be appreciated!!

I just called the tech support just now? I just asked the 'why the finger print reader not recognizing the finger print after changing windows password?', and he gave the following answers
    1. You should change fingerprint while changing windows password.  I don't understand the reason behind it, btw is this true?
    2. We can't do anything for this issue.

    Hey @bujawe99 ,
I see you're having issues with HP SimplePass not accepting your Windows password.
Can you tell me if you are using the preinstalled Windows 7 or if you have upgraded to Windows 8 or 8.1?
I would also suggest updating the SimplePass software as 6.0 is fairly outdated at this point. You should be using at least 8.0.
You can download a more recent version (8.01.11) here: HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software. This download works for all versions of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
Let me know if updating helps, and which OS you are using.

  • Change Windows Password at VPN Login

Our users connect to our PIX 515e using the Cisco VPN client. I recently enabled RADIUS on a Windows domain controller to provide user authentication. However users now have a problem if their Windows password expires.
When logging into a Windows machine you will be presented with a warning to change your password when it has expired. But through the VPN this is treated simply as an expired password, and you can't login.
I know there is a way to do this. I saw it at a friend's company.

I do not think this feature is available in 6.3, you might want to check the release notes for 7.2 to see if it is available there.

  • Need a way to check Windows password ?

    Dear All,
Is there any way to find the windows password or
Is there any way to check the entered text in forms against windows password.
This is more of single sign on concept. I want to authenticate with the windows user along with my application user.
Can any body did such a requirement.
    Please share your views..
    Thanks
    Balaji

    Hi Balaji,
You can not get the windows password from operating system , once you logged in. This is going to be a security issue if at all allowed.
    Your options,
    1. Use webutil to get the client host username.
2 compare the host username with the user accounts in the database and login automatically/ show the userid in the login screen. Then the user can enter the password for the forms which is different.
I dont think that OS authentication will work for forms, howver it will work for database.

    Hi,
    You're welcome
The 8 digit code you refer will be related to a power on password - ( if set, this will appear almost immediately after the power button is pressed and required before the operating system will even begin to load ) - it is not applicable for a Windows log-on password.
