Windows Printer Profiles

Please can someone tell me if it's possible to save print profiles on printer drivers shared by SMB?
I have followed several posts/internet how-tos on setting up automatic download of printer drivers to Windows machines from our Xserve and it appears to be working fine.
We have an HP Color LaserJet 4700N using the latest driver from HP. We have set the driver to default to printing in grayscale to save color toner. Some documents we print need to be printed on a specific paper with color so I wanted to save a "Print Task Quick Sets" to allow the user to specify this without having to remember all the options. When I edit the server printer properties it appears to save the "Quick Sets" but after closing the dialog and re-opening, the "Quick Sets" are missing. Is this supposed to work with Samba sharing or am I expecting too much?
If it should be working, is there something I should check/do to fix it?
Thanks,
Richard.

Where do I put the (original-color photometer) EYE1 printer profile in Windows 7?

You could try to put it here:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles
Copying the color folder from your laptop? I don't know - it might work, but I would create a restore point beforehand,
I'm no expert on Windows, so hopefully somebody more knowledgeable might be able to help you.

  • Too many printer profile choices on my macbook print window!

I hit the "print" button on my macbook pro ( OS lion 10.7) to print to my Pixma MX 922.  Suddenly there are about eight choices of MX922 printer profiles available on the drop down menu!
Can anyone tell me, please, which Printer Profile I should choose from the list?  The choices include these (from a screen shot I took.)
    Thanks for any advice!!

    Hi Ynpgal,
The different selections displaying for your printer are related to the media types that you can select to print on from the application you are printing from for optimum print quality; they are not actually several instances of the printer.  The media types associated with the listings are as follows; please select the printer listing for the media type you are printing on:
GL: Photo Paper Plus Glossy II
    PT: Photo Paper Pro Platinum
SG/LU: Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss / Photo Paper Pro Luster
    MP: Matte Photo Paper
    Hope this helps!

  • Unable to install US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 print profile in Windows 7

    Hi There,
I am trying to install the CMYK print profile: US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 to use in Adobe Lightroom 4.
I have downloaded the bundle from the adobe website, extracted the files, right clicked on the file named USWebCoatedSWOP and selected install profile. Yet when I go into lightroom to find the profile it is not there.
I have downloaded fuji print profiles from another site, but these were not from a bundle and downloaded directly from chrome, which I had no problems with.
Is there another way to install this profile?
    Thanks in advance

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense now. Have a nice day.

  • Printing a PDF document from a network printer hosted on Windows Print Server

    Hi
We have a use case where a XFA form needs to be merged with the XML file and later be printed on a printer hosted on Windows Print Server.
While I know the first part of merging the template with the data file, I am stuggling to get my document printed.
Here are the options that I have already tried -
    1) Used the generatePrintedOutput to render a flat PDF and convert it into a PS format.
    2) The output of the above service was input to the "sendToPrinter" service with following configuration settings
Input document     : <Document variable referencing to the output of the GeneratePrintedOutput service>
        Printer Protocol     : DirectIP
Server URI            : \\ <IP address of the Print Server>     NOTE: The Print Server is hosted on a different domain & is a Windows Server
Printer Name        : \\ <IP address of the Print Server>\<name of the printer>
Some more information about our LC servers -
    OS -> Unix
    Application Server -> JBoss
When I used these settings and invoked the process, I got the following exception -
2011-03-07 11:13:39,047 ERROR [com.adobe.livecycle.output.exception.OutputException] ALC-OUT-001-403: Could not connect to the DirectIP Server: \\<IP Address of the Printer Server>.

Therefore I tried to check if I am able to Ping the Printer Server from my Livecycle Server and found that the ping was successful.
Next - I changed the Printer Protocol from DirectIP to SharedPrinter keeping the rest of the settings same. In this case - when I invoke the process, it did not throw any error , but it did not print any document as well.
Any suggestion where I have gone wrong? Pls let me know if you would need more information to help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priyank

    Well I found the answer......
I had to do the two steps below -
    1) Go to Admin UI, "Trust Store Management -> User & Password Credentials" and add a profile for my Printer server with login ID and password which can access the printer.
So in the "User & Password Crendentails" page, I click on "add" and fill the following values
Profile : \\ <IP address of the print server> ....... (It is important that you write the name correctly..for example " \\10.10.234.212"
USername : <user id who has access to the printer>
    Password  : <password for that user Id>
    2) In the sendToPrinter service, I used CIFS as the protocol and I have the proper Server URI as below
      \\10.10.234.212\<printername>
    And it worked ! .....

  • Printer Profiles in Lightroom 4

I have a Mac Mini and Lightroom 4.  I downloaded printer profiles from a local lab but don't know how to get Lightroom to recognize them for soft proofing and printing.

You need to put them in the correct location for the system to pick them up. This is in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ or in ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. After you put the profile there, restart Lightroom and they will show up when you select other in the profile dialogs in Lightroom. Unfortunately in the last versions of Mac OS X, the finder hides these folders by default. Simply go into the Go Menu and select "Go to Folder" or hit Shift-command-G and type the above locations. The drag the profiles in the resulting finder window. If you're the only user on the machine either location is fine.

  • Color management/print profile setting in LR2

I tried to set a custom print profile in the LR2 Print Module. Specifically, I picked print to JPEG and under "Color Management" I picked "Profile/Other. When I pick other, an empty pick panel pops up. I use Vista 32 and under "\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color" there are lots of ICC profiles available. How do I point LR2 to the location where Vista stores these profiles?
    Franz

    franz:
    >As described in my opening problem description, I would like to print to JPEG and using the new LR2 ICC profile option provided under "Color Management" / "Profile/Other" and pick an ICC profile.
I'm not sure what the solution may be. When I chose to print to a .jpg file I see four profiles show up: sRGB, Adobe RGB, and Pro Photo RGB in addition to my normal printer profile. If I chose 'Other' then I see all of the profiles in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color. If I deselect 'Include Display Profiles' then I only see those profiles associated with my default printer. I know that sRGB and Adobe RGB are installed by the disk that installed my V500 scanner drivers, but those are 'generic' files and may also have been installed by other driver software.
Note, none of the profiles in that folder were copied there by me. All 31 were installed either by a printer driver installation, monitor installation, or installation of my Epson V500 scanner.
Quite possibly some were there after I installed the system but before I installed any drivers--I can't say for sure because I never looked at that folder before installing drivers.

  • Adding printer profiles to Lightroom

I am trying to add custom profiles to the Print Module.  I have never used outside labs before and want to do this now, , but when I enter custom, the pop up windows only gives me my installed printer profiles with no ability to add.  I am using a MAC and the printer that I want to use this time is a Noritsu 311.  I have the profiles, but can't seem to get them in to Lightroom.  Can anyone help me with this?

  • Unable to get lightroom 2.7 to see new printer profile

I installed a new printer profile from ilford into my windows 7 system.  Photoshop cs3 shows it in the profiles, but lightroom only has my canon printer papers.  I am runing 64 bit mode.

    Dorin,
Thanks a lot.  I didn't look in the pane but was jumping into the print itself.  The only thing strange now is that the new profile is not listed unless I check the "include display profiles".  The profile is installed as a ".icc" .  Is this correct?  Anyway I think you have solved my problem which was just me not looking in the right place.  Many thanks.
    Bart
P.S. I should check as problem solved, but wanted you to answer the profile question if you can and didn't know if you would get this otherwise.

  • Missing printing profiles

i have a dell xps system with Vista operating system and Lightroom V1.3.1.
Windows explorer list all my printer profiles however, in Lightroom under color management, profile, other, not all the profiles are shown. How do i get Lightroom to list all the profiles? i did notice that some files are .icc and some .icm???

That is a problem for which there have been no answers yet. There are a couple of threads on it already. My Other lists 4 out of about 75 printer paper profiles--none of the 4 are usable, representing printers/papers I no longer use--that all show up in all my other color managed applications.
Sooner or later someone may solve this--or Adobe may acknowledge it. In any case, I have long ago stopped attempting to use the Print modules--for this and several other reasons, the most important being no soft proofing. I hope you discover the answer.

  • Printer profiles missing

Lightroom 1.4 (and 1.3.1), PC, XP Pro SP2. When in Print mode in Lightroom, I select Color Management/Profile/Other, it only shows me the profiles down as far as Harman - it will not show the profiles for Ilford, or Permajet or any of the others further down the alphabet.
I have tried changing the name of the Ilford profile to "Classic", reinstalled it, restarted Lightroom but still no show. i have rebooted the computer, checked that the profiles are in C:\Windows\System 32\Spool\Drivers\Color. I have uninstalled the profiles and reinstalled them.
This only applies to my desktop - the laptop is fine. The desktop Photoshop installation sees all the profiles; it is just Lightroom which will only show half of them.
Any suggestions as to how I can force Lightroom into showing ALL the profiles?

Hi John - you were right - the FAQs told me where to look, so I deleted the Preferences file (actually renamed it) and let it get on rebuilding. Apart from the irritating lectures on the parts of Lightroom (it had lost track of the fact that I didn't want to see that message) it made no difference to the lack of printer profiles. The list progresses through the Canon profiles, and down to Harman. It just doesn't go on to the rest of the list.
I know the rest of the list exists because CS3 can find all the profiles - just that LR 1.4 cannot

  • CANON PRO-1 PRINTER PROFILE ACCESS PROBLEM

I own a Canon pro-1 printer and I am trying to access my third party profiles from within the printer setup/printer profile window, but I am restricted to selecting from only the  Canon's Pro-1 titled profiles for example, Canon pro-1 <FA> 2/3 fine art paper photo rag .  All of my profiles are located in the same location, Windows/system 32/spool/driver/color.  Where do I go to change my printer's settings so that I may access all of my printer icc profiles?  I noticed that the Canon profiles have an .icm format, while my other profiles read .icc.
    Thank you for your help.
    Mark

All of your printer profiles must be in the folder that you specified.  I just bought a Pro-1 printer and my printer profiles total seventeen for the Pro-1.  Your Hahnemuhle or other paper mfr profiles must be in this same folder for windows to find them. If you think you are missing some, I would re-install the printer driver, which is where the software loads the icc profiles to begin with.  You have to download other paper mfr profiles from their own sites for the Pro-1 model.

  • CS3 printer profiles (icc & icm) have disappeared.

I am running under XP SP3 with Photoshop CS3 version 10.0.1 with an Epson R2400. All of the profiles are present in windows/system32/spool/drivers/color, but are not listed in Photoshop's printer profile list. Everything was working fine as recently as 3-4 weeks ago, and everything is still working fine in CS2 which is also installed on this machine (3.7gig processor with 1gig ram) and several large hard drives).
I noticed the problem after installing SP3 today, but the problem remained after I restored a Ghost image created just prior to the SP3 update. Thus, it seems not to be caused by SP3. I have reinstalled SP3 based on that conclusion.
The only items on the printer profile list look like things that ship with Photoshop such as Apple RGB.

Sorry, but it is NOT a screen resolution problem. As I said, up until a few weeks ago, everything worked fine. Printer profiles are displayed, but, I suspect, ONLY the ones which ship with Photoshop. Other profiles, such as those for the 2400R are NOT displayed even though they exist in the correct location. I can see the entire profile list, and there are no scrolling controls being displayed.
Options were reset before I posted this issue. The reset did not help.
