Windows RDP: what is the most robust graphics application?

I use RDP to connect to a Windows 7 box on a LAN in order to run QuickBooks.
If I connect from a Windows box using Microsoft RDP, QuickBooks runs as if it was on my desktop. When I connect from my Arch desktop, using Remmia, for example, I must lower the color depth to 16bpp to keep the QuickBooks GUI from blocking and tearing. It functions fine, but it looks nasty.
Has anyone found a RDP application that delivers graphics performance on par with Windows RDP? Thanks in advance for you help!

Thanks. As I mentioned, I'm using Remmina, and FreeRDP is one of its dependencies. I was hoping to find an app that provided better graphics. Since they're both based on RDP released under the Apache license, maybe we're using the best available already.

  • What is the most robust excel app for ipad2?

I know there are apps that allow you to work with excel, like documents to go, but I use formatting and cosmetic design in excel . . .
which app works best with excel sheets on iPad and also allows for more robust formatting, etc?
    Thank you!

I think: Oracle is suitable for enterprise-level DBs, MSSQL for medium or small ones.

  • What Is the Most reliable Cloning Application

I got Personal Back Up X4 and had no problems with Tiger. But since I upgraded my computer and have Mac Pro and iMac, the cloning is no longer working. The application either crashes or gives a bunch of errors. I have heard about CCC and Super Duper. Does anyone can recommend a reliable Application?
    Thanks!

I cloned using CCC and it was much faster then Personal Back Up X4. It took 2,5 hrs. I have tested by changing the start up disc. Some applications went to trial mode. It did not recognize the serial #. Is this normal?
I also received an email from Silverkeeper support, here it is:
"SilverKeeper is compatible with GUID as well as APT, clones can be made with either partition scheme.
Errors during backup are usually caused by permissions errors on the Source drive, or improper setup, or some other issue with the OS. Repair Permissions usually resolves the issue.
The best cloning app, slow but sure, is Apple Disk Utility System Restore; does not update backups however. Always a full complete backup. Everything else, including SilverKeeper has pros and cons.
For the people with problems or questions, have them contact me at this email address. I’ll take a look at the forums to see if I can assist further.

What version of Windows Office will work for my OS X 10.5.8, and also what is the most updated browser available for my system?

Sorry for my typo. Ofice 2008 will continue to run on Leopard and Leopard includes Safari 5.0.6. A G4 s an old machine and you will not get much speed when surfing the internet.
Leopard is no longer avilable from Apple, and costs around $200 on eBay or Amazon.

You don't need to care about graphic driver on Mac OSX. It includes in OSX and run the driver your MacBook need.

the webkit2webprocess.exe has something to do with the sound. Safari works fine for me, except for the occasional time when the webkit2webprocess.exe crashes. Sometimes it crashes Safari altogether but sometimes it just reloads all the tabs I have opened. Either way, it's a huge pain. I hope they fix it with an update soon.

  • Laptop Video Editing: What are the MOST important specs

I've been editing, for a while now, various projects of various lenghts shot on my HV20, on an IMac using Adobe Premiere Pro. Actually, I bought the CS4 Extended Production Suite. It came with OnLocation, which is, I think, a fantastic tool. I really want to be able to record and monitor my future shoots using OnLocation. I've seen how useful monitors and scopes are on set, and the idea of being able to shoot in HD and actually checking the focus on something larger than a few inches is very appealling!
So a laptop is in my future. Now, what are the most important specs?
    I could buy 1) a barely used Macbook pro early 08- 17" HD led display ,4g Ram ddr2 ,nvidia 8600M GT 512 VRAM ,800Mhz BUS, 200G 7200HD
and have enough money left to buy an Apple Display 30" refurb
    OR 2) a new Macbook pro 17, 4 g Ram ddr3, 512 VRAm, 4g Ram ddr3, double procsessors 9400M+9600M GT 512 VRAM, 1066 BUS, 500G 7200HD
and wait for a second display!
Plus, of course, a portable External Scratch Drive on the Express Card. Now, if that fast drive is handling the footage, could'nt I settle for a 5400HD in the laptop,, they seem much less prone to problems-clicking noise, heat-than the 7200, especially in the new unibody model. Is 800 versus 1066 BUS a terrible trade-off? In terms of secondary displays , I've heard less than lukewarm things about the new Apple 24 LED (glossy is no-no for me).
My intentions are to make documentaries and short fictions as well. I make a living as an actor so I don't need to be performing as a director/editor business wise!
I do want to explore that side of the craft, in a professional and enjoyable way though. I know that, in addition to the laptop, I will get a MacPro in a few years.
Thanks a lot for the inputs!

CPU, RAM, bus speed, system HD, external HD, graphics - basically in that order
You should think in terms of purchasing for maximum future use. In that regard the new 17" MacBookPro is the way to go. The specs are significantly better than the early '08 MacBook and you will be much happier in the long run with performance, software support and longevity.
If you really need a large display, consider a 24" Dell, HP, NEC, etc. in the $200-$300 price range to stay within your total budget. You will be pleasantly surprised how good they are.
You could start out with the 5400rpm system HD - you can replace it anytime with a 7200rpm drive if necessary for hardly any more $ than it would cost in the first place; and replacing it does NOT void your warranty. But you WILL want/need a good external FW800 or eSATA drive (for eSATA you will need an eSATA expressCard/34 however) no matter what.
One other thought, if your primary use will be with an external display, and you don't actually need eSATA capability (FW800 will do you just fine at this point), then the 15" 2.66GHz or 2.8GHz MacBookPro models will be just fine at a significantly lower cost than the 17" model.

  • What is the most RAM I can put in mac book pro 15 inch 2.16(2006)?

What is the most RAM I can put in mac book pro 15 inch 2.16(2006)?

Depends. There were two version of the MBP that shipped in 2006 with different max RAM. The quickest way to see which is yours is to use System Profiler to get your Mac's "Model Identifier."
Do "About this Mac" from the Apple menu and, in the resulting window, click "More Info..." That launches System Profler for you.
The answer is in the first screen of Profiler that comes up--"Hardware Overview." Note the second line in this example:
If the Model Identifier says "MacBookPro1,X" you are limited to 2G RAM. Period.
If the Model Identifier says "MacBookPro2,X" you can install two, 2G modules for an installed total of 4G RAM, but the logic board can only access 3.2G of it. That becomes your "max RAM.
    Hope this helps,

  • The future of java and what is the most necessary skill to learn

    hi, friends,
This is a serious question, so please answer seriously.
    1. The future of java
Are there any future for java? What I mean are: are there any jobs for java developer in the future? are there any chances for new java company to survive?
    2. What is the most needed skill in so many java technology?
There are so many sections in java technology. so what is the most needed one for one to find a job? what is the most promising section for one to build a company.
    Thank your very much!

    It's a lousy question really.
    1) There are very few companies you'd call a 'java company'. There are companies that use java, but they also by and large use C++, DBMS systems, and a whole host of other technologies. If java died, they'd switch to whatever technology killed it. Any decent programmer is flexible enough to learn a new language in a matter of weeks. It's the ability to work with the theory behind the code rather than the knowledge of syntax that's important.
    2) It depends entirely on what you're doing. Working with a company where databases are key? Then you need Oracle, or SQL. Working with web technology? Perl, JSP, PHP, stuff like that is what you want. Working in high performance application design? You need C++. Graphics? Take a look at OpenGL or Java3d.
The most promising section to build a company? If there was a straight answer to that 1000 companies would have sprung up already and filled the niche.
Basically, if you want a successful career in programming, don't become a java programmer, become a programmer full stop. If you think you'll be working with java when you retire in 40-odd years you're mistaken. You need to grasp the basic concepts of application and algorithm design, and be quick to learn new technologies and evaluate them against what exists already.
It can take 3 years to go from complete newbie to fluent in a single programming language. It can then take less than 3 days to become fluent in another.

  • What are the most important functions you cannot bypass in acrobat?

I would like to know what are the most important functionalities that we can not bypass in Acrobat? What makes Acrobat more worthy than other PDF reader/editor?
Personally, I notice that Acrobat (adobe products in general) takes longtime to install or uninstall. I don't find a striking feautre in Acrobat compared with other software!
Worse, Acrobat doesn't support Multiple document interface! So, I don't know why I should pays for Adobe while other free PDF viewer/reader offer this great feature!
Adobe does like Microsoft was doing long time ago in ignoring people opinions! I don't understand why adobe persists not to include MDI (Multiple Document Interface) at least as optional feature?
    Thanks

The MDI issue is caused by following Windows User Interface Guidelines. Complain to Microsoft. As to what functionality is most important. The most important is creating problem free pdfs. The other things I find important are the form related capabilities, preflight, pdf optimizer and redaction.

  • What's the most recent Mini I can install Leopard On

I need Classic + Rosetta. What is the most recent Mini I can really put Leopard (OS 5.x)  on? Not that it shipps with, but will actually install and work. Or can copy onto from a clone which will run?
    TIA,
    Bill

    Three options:
    1.  Purchase the Late-2005 Mac Mini (PowerMac10,2).  This was the last PowerPC Mac Mini that can run the Classic Environment in Tiger; so it does not need Rosetta.
    2.  Purchase the Mid-2010 Mac Mini (macmini4,1).  This model comes with Snow Leopard, which is the last version of OS X to allow Rosetta.  Rosetta must be optionally installed. For Word 5.1, see below.
    3.  Purchase the Mid-2011 Mac Mini (Macmini5.1).  This model comes with Lion, but if you follow the work of newfoundglory in this thread, you can downgrade (or dual-partition) this model to Snow Leopard (for Word 5.1, see below):
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17829389#17829389
For the younger folk reading this thread, the OP is among the few remaining purists that loved Microsoft Word 5.1 on the Mac.  A little bit of history:
Until the Mac was developed and released, Microsoft was almost exclusively an Operating System and Programming software company (Multiplan being the first and sole applications software exception at that time).
Steve Jobs recruited Bill Gates and Microsoft to set up a programming team to build applications for the Mac, then in development.  Out of the effort came Word 1.0 (yes, Word was originally written exclusively for the Mac).
This program was ultimately refined until version 5.1.  Then  with the release of version 6, Mac users were horrifed as the program had been "window-fied" and it was never as pure a Mac program since...
Now back to our originally program, already in progress:
You can run Word 5.1 on an Intel Mac in a Classic emulator program known as SheepShaver (and its cousin, Chubby Bunny).  I use SheepShaver to run Classic Word Perfect, among other Classic apps.
Here is a recent post I made about this Classic emulator:
With the newer Intel Macs, you have to run a Classic emulator such as SheepShaver, which requires you to extract the Mac ROMs from your older Classic Mac and then install Mac OS 9.
A related program is Chubby Bunny, which comes bundled with all of that included.

  • What is the most efficient way to have full access to the front panel on RT Labview?

I have a RT machine that needs to do its job and also port the front panel to an external machine over the network. What is the most efficient way to do it? Using as little of the RT time as possible but providing full functionality to the RT front panel.
So far I have been using it directly from Labview - running the VI on a remote (RT) and have the front panel on local Labview (WINDOWS). I know I can do it with also through WWW (not very happy with that though).
    LV2009 SP1.
    Thanks

Running a compiled executable on the RT target, rather than running it within the development environment, is probably slightly more efficient but limits you to the web interface.  If you're running within the LabVIEW environment, I doubt there's a noticeable difference in efficiency from the RT perspective between the web server and the LabVIEW front panel, although that's mostly a guess (I would expect the RT system to send identical data in each case, once the front panel is loaded).  Those are your only options in modern LabVIEW versions.  In LabVIEW 7.1 you could build an executable that acted as the front panel for an RT system, but that feature does not exist in recent versions.  However, a quick search turned up this document with code to approximately duplicate that behavior, perhaps it will work for you?

  • What is the most efficient way to post several stories to multiple html pages

What is the most efficient way to post five stories to multiple html pages?
Currently they are all html files saved in DW with some divs sharing content and other divs are unique.
I've experimented with saving stories as library items and dropping into other html but wondered if there is a more efficient or dynamic process.

    Server-Side Includes.

The largest capacity HDD that you can install is the HGST 1.5 TB HDD:

Any 2.5" 9.5mm thick SATA HDD will fit and operate in your MBP, regardless of capacity.
