Windows Recognizes but wont install ipod

Ive Just recently had my ipod replaced as it wouldnt hold its charge anymore when i got the "new" one back windows didnt recognise the ipod and tried to install it the add hardware bit that pops up when you plug in new usb devices.
It recognises that its an ipod but cannont find the drivers.
if i check in device manager it is listed as another device with an exclamation mark next to it.
I have tried to restore the ipod but when i bring it up im just get a message that i need to connect an ipod to the computer.
I have tried the force disk mode but tis does not work either.
Any Ideas its driving me mad .
With Thanks for any future help.

i also have the same exact problem and i was told by some apple person to take the ipod back to where i bought it and have them fix it which i'll be doin this week but other than that i think that apple needs to make a version of itunes compativle for vista
Actually they do. The latest version of iTunes is Vista compatible.
A lot of people have had problems with the iPod Shuffle and Vista. It is not an iPod problem, but rather a problem with Vista recognizing some flash based drives (of which the Nano and Shuffle are examples).
A couple of solutions to the Vista problem I have seen are as follows:
1) The first solution is that Vista sometimes does not look for drivers in the correct place. When the wizard asks you to provide a location for the drivers type in C:\WINDOWS\System32 and see if it properly locates and detects the iPod and loads the drivers.
2) Have a look in the hardware device list inside Control Pane. You may see you iPod listed (it should appear under the other devices heading) with a yellow triangle next to it. If it appears here then right click it select properties. Next click update device driver. Do not do the automatic find, rather click "I will choose the device from a list." Click on "storage device." With any luck VISTA now finds a USB mass storage device and install it properly.

Because iPods will only work with iTunes. Your computer only sees an iPod Touch as a digital camera. What are you trying to do with your iPod?

  • Windows Vista wont install Ipod drivers

    OK I NEED HELP....
I have Windows Vista and I am trying to install my iPod Nano, but everytime I plug my iPod in it ask me to insert the CD that came with it. As I don't have a CD I just click to install drivers automatically. Than it gives me an error saying 'unable to install drivers'. The divers do show up in the device manger under- other devices but there is a little warning sign next to it. So I right click on it and update driver, which it then tells me that it can't update driver. I have the latest version on iTunes and Quicktime, and I have also done a restore on my pc. Spoken to Apple 4 times!!! got no where with them. My iPod works fine on Windows XP machine, but not my Windows Vista. Has anyone else had any troubles with Vista??

I'm not sure my problem with Vista is the same. New computer with Vista, and I'm trying to transfer my library from old computer to new one. I loaded latest version of iTunes. When I put in my apple ID, my acct balance and items in my shopping cart appeared. When I connect my iPod, it is recognized.
I found an article that gave two options for copying library to new computer. One was to use backup discs to RESTORE, and the other was to use the iPod as a hard drive. It says that it will ask if I want to restore when I insert backup disc, but it does not ask. I tried Import, but tht didn't work either. When I connect my iPod, it doesn't copy the contents from there either. It only gives me the option of erasing iPod and loading what is on new library (which is only about 12 songs). I get a msg that I am synced to another library and can only be synced to one. I still got that msg after I deauthorized the old one.
Any suggestions on how to load music onto new library?
    Thanks in advance!

A bit of a shot in the dark, but this appears to be an issue with pulling down the update from the Windows Store.  I have not run into this issue directly, but this thread has a lot of information.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_store/windows-8-apps-are-pending-...
The one tidbit that might help here from that thread is:
"finally I found a solution. go to troubleshooting (press win+w >then type troubleshooting). now a window opens in desktop. click "fix problems with windows updates". now click next. windows will search for solutions, but it wont find anything. then windows will ask if u want to try in administrator mode. click yes. windows will find and solve the problem. that's it."
    I work for HP.

  • Windows Vista won't install Ipod

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, unfortunately Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Iteune three times and searched the Windows Vista disk, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

  • Trying to install iTunes 10.5 but wont install and it just seems to hang for several hours and do nothing.  Need help cos otherwise I cant update to iOS5 on my Iphone 4.  Thx

I have tried many times today to install iTunes 10.5 in order to update to iOS5 on my Iphone 4 however it just wont work.  I have a MacBook Pro and when I use the software update it says that I have already downloaded iTunes 10.5 but when I go to install it and it says it is writing the files and the bluw bar is working its way across the page and then becomes very very slow and and at the last millimetre it seems to just hang there and do nothing.  I even left if like this for several hours and nothing progressed.  I have since tried to update via the iTunes program and the same problem happens.  Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Rick,
by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.
    Success,
    Peter

  • Trying to install the new itunes/borjour for windows 64 but neither install

I downloaded the current version of itunes for windows 64.  I received a message to install Bonjour and did so.
I have 2 Bonjour items in Programs and tried to uninstall the one dated 2010 but received the message that this program is for 32bit and to go get the download/bonjourforwindows. html, which I did when itunes was downloaded and this version will not 'uninstall'.
I tried to open the Bonjour Printer Wizard and received a message "Bonjour service is not available".
Also, itunes is still version 9.1.1.12.

You might as well not even ask for help if that is all the detail you can or will provide... that statement is completely useless.
Would you take your car to a mechanic and simply say "it just doesn't work"?

  • I erased everything on my internal HD and ONLY have disk utilities, terminal, and install OS X MAVERICKS but wont install because no recovery system can be created

    Help me,ANYONE!
I was a fool thinking downloading OS X MAVERICKS offline would be easy if I cleared my WHOLE HD, WELL the past 2 days ive been trying to figure it out in disk utilities and in terminal to run os x mavericks installer but nothing will work, it also says OS X cant be installed because a recovery system cant be crested.... plzz... someone help.. idk, ive been pretty **** emotional about this and about to throw laptop out the window..
    Macbook pro
Specs are mid 2010 15" screen.

This might depend on how you made your installer. If it is a flash pen installer that you made yourself, depending on how you made it, it has consequences on what is installed.
I am assuming that you have made an installer?
If you have and you did it manually, without using the Terminal command then it is a know caveat that a recovery partition is not installed as part of that procedure. The second method to create a bootable installer, using Terminal, will allow and install a recovery partition.
See here (without Terminal): http://www.macworld.com/article/2151706/create-a-bootable-mavericks-install-driv e-for-newer-macs.html
    & here (with Terminal): http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html
Alternatively, have you zapped the PRAM and SMC, prior to trying to install?
See here: About NVRAM and PRAM
Some of these might help or even answer your query...
    Good luck.

  • My firmware has downloaded but wont install the update.

I recently bought an older macbook, and I went to install updates on it. All but one of them inatstalled. The frimware for some reason will not install. The macbook was purchased in 2009, and is running off of mac os x 10.6.8. im not sure if any of this information is helpful?

Please enter your Mac's serial number on this page. Please do NOT post it here. You can get your Mac's serial number by clicking on the apple logo at the top left and choosing, About This Mac. Where it says what version of OS X you're running (10.6.8 in your case), click on that. It will rotate between the OS version, the build number of the OS, and your serial number.
Once you have entered your serial number on that site, then please link to the resulting page here so we can see exactly what model Mac you have.
Or, hold down the Option key and click on the apple. With the Option key held down, the first choice will instead be System Information. Copy/paste only the top five lines, and the Boot ROM version of the resulting window. Do not include the serial numbers or UUID. This is all we should see here, such as for my Mac:
    Model Name:  Mac Pro
    Model Identifier:  MacPro5,1
    Processor Name:  6-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed:  3.33 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MP51.007F.B03
That's enough info for users here to see what model Mac you have. The ROM version is your current firmware level. From there, we can look to see what, if any firmware updates are supposed to be available for your Mac. I ask because the update you're being told to apply my be in error and there really is nothing to apply.

  • Microsoft Windows Media Component wont install, No...

So far my 5800 has been nothing but problems.  XpressMusic seens like rather a misnomer.
I run the installer disk and the Windows Media Component fails to install for no given reason (which is itself an indicator of shoddy software) and Nokia Music likewise fails, though a broken shortcut for it appears on my desktop.
I've tried using Ovi Suite to transfer my music, but when it (eventually, since the program is inexcusably slow and has a terrible interface) indicates that all transfers have been completed none if it is to be found on the phone.

    Hey,
Download the Microsoft Windows Media component from Microsoft, i doubt urs is Windows 7 pc.  Once you install above component and then try to install nokia ovi player(earlier it was Nokia Music)
