Windows safari search greyed out

Windows Safari (latest version as at 28th March 2014). No ominbox, search bar at far right does not allow to be typed in for google, bing or yahoo.
Anyone else?

If only you knew how much pain Apple has caused my life int he past two weeks.
I have spent more than 20+ hrous on the phone with senior engineers troubleshooting my Macbook since the recent updates eg: iTunes - wasn't having any issues sycning devices, now it is crashing my computer and freezing iPhoto amoung other things.
I've been using Chrome on Mac/PC for abotu 4 years and thought it was time to change recenlty when my Chrome browser stopped syncing between my home Macbook and PC. I've just twigged that it actually isn't Chrome, it is now my Macbook!
Thanks for the help Dominic. I truely wish Apple weren't such giants and they listened to the needs of their users.

  • Design window - all panels greyed out (CC)

    Hi.
Just using the trial version of DW CC, and liking it so far!
I'm using Split, and when I go to make a link in Design, the Properties box below is greyed out (as is the Insert panel). The only option left is to actually highlight the text in the Code panel and insert a link.
I've seen tuts where people are able to highlight in Design and place a link, etc. What gives?

Do you have Live View active?
You can't edit from the Live View window, if you turn it off, you should have access to those panels again.

  • Photoshop CC Window- Extensions Menu Greyed Out

    This is Windows 8.1
In Photoshop CC the Window->Extensions Menu is greyed out. I have installed Adobe Extension Manager CC and installed Adobe Exchange 1.1.0.
When running photoshop CS6 the Windows->Extensions Menu is visible.
Also in Mac OSX 10.9 Photoshop CC the Windows-Extensions Menu is visible.

This seemed to work, as there were missing files:
I checked the folder CEPServiceManager4 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4) and CEPServiceManager.exe was missing along with libcurl.dll, libeay32.dll, ssleay32.dll. These dlls are used for network access.
Uninstall  all the Adobe CC products using Prorams and Features
Go to C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Adobe and delete the OOBE folder.
Go to C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Temp and delete all the files/folders, you will not be able to delete some so ignore these.
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Plug-ins and copy out any or your own plugins.
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins and copy out any or your own plugins.
Use the the Creative Cloud cleaner tool http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html.
    Reinstall the CC apps.
Start Photoshop CC and if it asks to copy the Photoshop CS6 settings do this. It may not be necessary.
    Exit Photoshop CC
Copy back our own plugins into  C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Plug-ins and C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins.
This seems to have solved the problem.

  • Window Intune Center greyed out

Hello We are currently trialling Windows Intune and Kaspersky (as Windows Intune does not work on servers) and I have 2 issues.
    1. When right clicking on the Intune agent icon in in taskbar the Windows Intune Center option is greyed out this means users will have to go to Start - All Programs - Windows Intune Center to be able to install applications, request support etc.
    2. Since installing Kaspersky Windows Intune portal says that my laptop has not contacted it in "nDays" I have checked Kaspersky settings etc and cannot see anything wrong. I've even tried disabling Kaspersky and seeing if that makes a difference
but it doesn't. Has anyone got any experience using Intune and Kaspersky or another AV solution?

I know this is old but I’m trying to clean up old posts. Did you ever solve this? If so it would be good if you could post the solution to assist others. If not, at this stage,
as nobody has answered, I would recommend that you call Intune support.
You will find your local Intune support number here

Any quick easy solution for this? Thanks. Ken

Quit all applications. Click on an empty spot on the desktop to activate Finder.
Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select “Library” from the drop down.
      Look for this file.
      Library > Preferences >  com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Right click it and select  "Move  to Trash".  Close Finder window.
      Restart.   Launch Safari.
Hope  you do not have MacKeeper installed.

  • Reopened last closed window is greyed out

    Hi there,
I recently bought my first Apple notebook - a 15 inch Macbook Pro running OS-X Mavericks. I am running Safari 7.0.2 and am new to Safari. I find that the "Reopened Last Closed Window" option is greyed out. I have searched online communities and deleted plists and rebooted my machine; nothing gives unfortunately.
    Please could you help?
    Thanks,
    Vinayak

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • Restore Session no longer works properly, the window shows as blank, and the restore button is greyed out. On the history tab, the three associated links are also greyed out and unusable. How do I restore functionality?

Just as the question says, I get a restore session tab whenever I open Firefox, but it no longer shows my tabs, and the Restore button is greyed out. If I open and then close a side, it no longer shows up in the "recently closed tabs" in the History menu. "restore previous session" and "Recently closed windows" are also greyed out.
I'd like this function to work correctly again.

Make sure that you do not use Clear History to clear the <i>Browsing History</i> when you close Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.
    * Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Keychain access greyed out in icloud preferences panel

    Safari also greyed out
And unable to access account details on my macbook.
Running Mavericks on a 2007 MBP.
    Any ideas appreciated.

Have had some success with multiple computers running Windows 7, Vista, and Windows Server 2008 doing the following with iCloud Control Panel 3.1 (combination of several different remedies posted in forum):
Sign out of iCloud Control Panel
Open Task Manager and End all Apple iCloud and Photostream processes
Delete the files from the Directory C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Mediastream
Open iCloud Control Panel and sign in with apple ID
If Photo option is still greyed out, sign out and sign back in with iCloud email address and password.
This has worked for seven users that I support across several different windows hardware platforms.  Good luck!

  • Extensions Panel greyed out in Photoshop CC on a Mac. Can't open Mini Bridge

I've just (yesterday) joined the Adobe Cloud, with full access to all the Adobe programs.
Opening Photoshop, I also wanted Mini Bridge open but the 'Extensions' item on the 'Window' menu is greyed out and can't be selected.
I've tried opening Bridge first, the Photoshop and vice versa, either way, the problem is the same. I've checked the Photoshop Preferences under 'Plug Ins' and made sure 'Load Extensions Panel' was ticked (which it was originally)
So, basically, no matter what I try, the Extensions Panel seems to remain greyed out.
Can any of you good people come up with the reason why this is happening and how I can solve i please?
    Many thanks in advance
    Steve

My main plug-in (resize 8) is not yet compatible, and so PS thinks there are no extensions, hence it's greyed out. but it took several days of troubleshooting to find this out.
If your resize 8 plug-in is from onOne then you need to install version 8.5.1 for the plug-ins to be available through extensions.  Even before the 8.5.1 update to the suite the resize 8 plug-in was available via the File->Automate... menu item after a re-install of the suite so it detected CC 2014.

  • Why is Preview selection greyed out in Font Book?

I have a problem with Font Book — not the first.
All my fonts seem to be listed fine, but when I go to the Preview menu, which is currently on the default selection of 'Sample', I cannot select either of the other two options. They are both greyed out. As is 'Show Font Info'. And the related buttons on the menu bar of the Font Book window are also greyed out.
Anyone any idea what the problem might be. Do I have to bin the prefs and start building my font collections yet again?
    Grrrr.

You need to have either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat installed to use the Preview PDF feautre. Additionally, the preview pdf feature uses the Internet Explorer plugin, so make sure that is installed and functioning properly.

  • Almost all iChat menu options greyed out; can't use iChat this way

iChat was working just fine until a few days ago. Now it only shows the following menu items:
iChat--> My Status, Accounts, Services, Hide iChat, Hide others, Quit iChat
    File--> Open, Recent items
Edit--> Find, Spelling, Insert Smiley, Special Characters
View--> Buddy names, Sort buddies, Messages
Buddies --> (None not greyed out)
    Audio-->(None not greyed out)
    Format-->Show fonts, show colors
    Window-->(None not greyed out)
I have looked at others' advice to this poster and tried deleting the .plist files, but this didn't seem to help at all. Does anyone have any other ideas as to where to start?
I suspect the trouble may have started after I installed the latest system updates.

If you have no access to the Preferences in iChat and the Accounts do not show in the iChat Menu > Accounts or in the Window Menu for the KeyStrokes they the answer is to redo the FAQ stuff particularly the Deletion of the .plists nad the Force Quitting of iChatAgent.
If you have Preferences Access and No Buddies in the Buddy List (or they are greyed out if you show Off Line Buddies) go to the iChat menu > Preferences > Accounts > Security tab and check the Block list is Not Active with all your Buddies in the list.

  • HT1688 On my iphone 4 below the search window, I have three greyed out safari icons with different web links attached

I have a iPhone 4 8GB. I have three greyed out safari icons that doesn't say safari but a web link. It's like a bookmark to your homepage but not in your homepage.   I noticed it when I deleted all my web pages and on that one web page where it says "search or type in a address" right below it where it's just all white, there's three grey looking safari icons with each one with a different web site that's attached to it. When I tap on it it goes to a specific website. For ex one if them says www.longchamp.com, the other macys.com. There's no way to delete it. The wired thing is each one in color it like three shades of grey . Light, med and darker grey icons. When I hold down the icon you can move it around but can't delete, nothing just nothing. It's been there for the longest time I can remember. Do you know what this is? I took a pic of it. I don't know how to attach it to this discussion. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I seem to have fixed it by putting <div  class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

  • Safari Reopen All Windows from last session greyed out

    Hi there,
I am using Safari 7.0.6 version. I have a Macbook Pro OS X  10.9.4  I have made sure that under my Safari Preferences/General/ the Close all windows .... is UNCHECKED but I still can't get the "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" to be activated.  I can't even do it manually as it is greyed out.
    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately no, but there is a free Safari extension that offers this feature.
    Glims for Safari | www.MacHangout.com
Once Glims is installed, you can access the settings in Safari > Preferences > Extensions then select the General tab then toggle: Restore Tabs and Launch on.
    Other handy features as well.
And you can have Glims check for updates automatically.
