Windows Scheduled Maintenance Task

I want to disable or delete the Windows Scheduled Maintenance Task in windows 7 by GPO in my domain 2012, because it delete old shortcuts in desktop users, but this task isn't in the c:\windows\tasks path, and I can't found it in the registry. Any idea?

in a startup script.

  • Windows Services vs Task Scheduler

    We have a number of desktop apps written by a staff member who has left. These sit on the desktop and all of them poll a directory and process files in certain ways.
    Obviously, this is inefficient and I want to rewrite them.
    What would be best in this scenario? Windows Services or Task Scheduler?

  • Maintenance Windows - Scheduled Reboot Sleep/Hibernate

    Given an appropriately scheduled maintenance window and a properly configured set of client settings (computer restart), what is the expected behavior for a client computer that enters standby/hibernate during the countdown and doesn't resume until after
    it has ended?
    I have been running a few tests in my environment and I'm finding that clients resuming from standby/hibernate are being forced to reboot immediately. Sometimes before I am able to hit ctrl+alt+delete and login.
    Is this expected?

    Is this expected?
    I think this is expected. More details from Rebootcoordinator.log would be helpful.

  • Scheduling a Task in Windows

    All,
    Can you please let me know if it is possible to schedule a task on a windows machine using a Signed Java Applet. If it is possible, can you please give me some pointers to the same and some code snippets? Thanks in advance! Have a great day!

    Hello Everyone,
    Succeeded !!!!!!!
    Even i was struggling with this same Problem to execute a batch via Window scheduler and set the setting to "Run whether the user is logged in or not".
    I tried many time but the batch runs with " Run
    whether user is logged on" and not with "Run
    whether user is logged on or not".
    what i discovered is that there was one mapped drive
    path in my batch file which was not the complete path like y:/AR.qvw actually what i did i changed that map path to the complete path like \\servnamename\d$\AR.qvw and the batch executed successfully with the setting "Run
    whether user is logged on or not"
    The
    conclusion is that check the dependency of the script on external resources because when you check this option "Run
    whether user is logged on or not" It actually conflicts. This my discovery.
    If
    you have any question write me on [email protected]
    Thanks

  • DPC spike at Windows automatic maintenance startup. Can not leave the computer alone processing real-time streams.

    This is what happens when I leave the computer idle for a while and the Windows automatic maintenance starts:
    Driver file      Description               ISR count  DPC count  Highest execution (ms)  Total execution (ms)
    ntoskrnl.exe  NT Kernel & System   0              50764        0,235854
     332,950426
    A DPC spike is generated by ntoskrnl.exe causing drop outs in real-time streams.

    Hi Fjtorsol,
    We hope your issue has been resolved, if you've found solution by yourself. you could share with us and we will mark it as answer.
    This high Deferred Procedure Call (DPC) latencies are usually caused by certain drivers, if it is caused by automatic maintenance, please re-check your task schedule which is marked as “when computer is idle”. As what has been suggested by MVP ZigZag, please
    use the Microsoft Windows Performance Analyzer from the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) to identify the cause of any DPC latency spikes.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=39982
    DPC CPU Usage Summary Table will open containing a list of drivers/program. This list is already correctly sorted (by the Actual Duration column). The process on the very top of the list is therefore likely to be the cause of your problem.

  • How to schedule a java application via Windows Scheduler

    I can't figure out how to schedule a java application using the Windows Scheduler. Do I schedule the java application with the .class file as a parameter? How do I pass arguments to it?
    To execute FileCopy.class, my best guess was:
    Start | Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | Scheduled
    Tasks | Add Scheduled Task | Browse | Program Files | Java |
    jre1.5.0_06 | ... Advanced Properties
    Under the Task tab:
    Run: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\java.exe"
    Start In: "MyDocuments\Eclipse_Workspace\Java_File_Copy
    FileCopy"
    This does not work. How do I schedule the FileCopy.class java application, and how can I pass arguments to it? Can this be done without specifying a password?
    TIA,
    John

    Suppose that your class is FileCopy (has no package name) and is located under MyDocuments\Eclipse_Workspace\Java_File_Copy folder, then you should have:
    Run: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\java.exe" FileCopy
    Start In: "MyDocuments\Eclipse_Workspace\Java_File_Copy"
    And yes you must provide a user password to execute the task.
    Best way to do this is to create a special user (with password) for executing this task.

  • EXECUTE permission denied on sp_sqlagent_log_jobhistory when running a maintenance task or sql job

    Hi folks,
    I have a scheduled maintenance plan and associated jobs in SQL Server 2008 SP2 that have been working but stopped about two months ago. When I run a maintenance task or sql job using any account (sa, sysadmin-priveleged domain account, etc) I get the following
    entries in the SQL Server Agent log (see below). I've tried changing the SQL Server Agent account, applied the latest hotfixes (CU2 for 2008 SP2) and set permissions manually so that the service accounts have dbo access to the msdb database. Anyone got other
    ideas? I've avoided recreating the msdb database, but that may be my only option.

    And just to add to the confusion - I created a SQL login called sql-maintjobs and have it sysadmin priveleges. I then logged in to SQL using this account on the instance that is failing and ran the following:
    declare
    @backupjobid uniqueidentifier
    select
    @backupjobid=CONVERT(uniqueidentifier,
    '2C4974D4-53BE-4E38-8EC0-8F5398CADE88')
    exec
    sp_sqlagent_log_jobhistory
    @job_id = @backupjobid,

    @sql_message_id

    @retries_attempted
    =0,
    @server
    =
    NULL,
    @session_id
    = 0
    This sql worked fine - no permission errors at all. That would suggest the account does have permission to EXECUTE that stored procedure... very confusing!

  • How to run automated maintenance task on a logical standby database ?

    Hi
    I realize that i do not see any job runs for automated maintenance tasks on my logical standby database.
    Which are the conditions that must be fulfilled for automated maintenance tasks to run?
    Thanks
    Christoph

    Hi,
    In an Oracle Data Guard environment, the Scheduler includes additional support for two database roles: primary and logical standby. You can configure a job to run only when the database is in the primary role or only when the database is in the logical standby role. To do so, you set the database_role attribute. This example explains how to enable a job to run in both database roles. The method used is to create two copies of the job and assign a different database_role attribute to each.
    By default, a job runs when the database is in the role that it was in when the job was created. You can run the same job in both roles using the following steps:
    Copy the job
    Enable the new job
    Change the database_role attribute of the new job to the required role
    The example starts by creating a job called primary_job on the primary database. It then makes a copy of this job and sets its database_role attribute to 'LOGICAL STANDBY'. If the primary database then becomes a logical standby, the job continues to run according to its schedule.

  • Configuring Windows Scheduler from Java Class

    Hi Frnds ,
    Is it possible to configure or create a task in Windows Scheduler from a Java program .
    If so ,please let me know how we can do so .
    Thanks ,
    Rajesh Reddy

    Without claimimng any hands-on experience with this, google for "windows scheduler command line".
    You will see lots of information from Microsoft about command line utilities that manage the scheduler.
    If those utilities are able to do what you need, calling them from Java is just a matter of using the
    Runtime or, better, ProcessBuilder classes (Runtime.exec() or ProcessBuilder.start()).

  • How to stop maintenance tasks starting after mac is shut down?

    Even when my iMac is shut down, it starts up in the early morning to perform maintenance tasks, then sleeps. When I have a guest staying in the room with the iMac it wakes them up so I would like to stop it (other than uplugging the power).
    The startup initiation message is like the following:
    22/12/2013 5:55:12.000 am bootlog[0]: BOOT_TIME 1387662912 0
    Is there a way to inhibit this background maintenance operation so that it does not occur when the mac is shut down?
    PS It also did this under 10.7 and 10.8 so is not actually a problem specific to Mavericks.

    Thanks for the responses.
    1. The iMac is actually shut down.
    2. There is no wake or startup set in the Energy Saver Schedule.
    I've been using Macs since 1985 so I know my way around them pretty well, but I can't figure out this one ...

  • Event 805 - Maintenance Task is "behind deadline"

    I have noticed several instances of Event 805 - Maintenance Task taskname is behind deadline in the Microsoft-Windows-TaskScheduler/Maintenance log.  Can anyone explain what this means, and what triggers such events?
    For example, shortly after Windows setup completes, about 16 instances of Event 805 appear -Maintenance Task "\Microsoft\Windows\ApplicationData\CleanupTemporaryState" is behind deadline.  Maintenance Task "\Microsoft\Windows\Application
    Experience\ProgramDataUpdater" is behind deadline, and so on.
    This seems strange since the system at that point has only been active for a few minutes.  How could any task be "behind deadline" so soon?
    My guess is that this is just noise and can/should be ignored, but it would be interesting to know the logic behind this.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting.
    But now, there isn’t relating information in MS website about Event ID 805 in Windows 8.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Server 2008 R2: Setting up a custom schedule with task scheduler

    I am trying to schedule a task using Server 2008 R2 Task Scheduler
    I've been googling and searching for an answer on how to do this. I could easily do it on Server 2003.
    I need to run a program (custom) that updates some tables in a database.
    I need to run it Monday thru Saturday at 20 minutes after the hour from 7:20 am through 5:20pm. Not on Sunday and not at night (only normal business hours)
    These are the steps I am following: I create task, General, I enter the description, Then triggers, new, select weekly, select start date and time, select the days I want (every day except sunday), repeat the task every hour, for a duration of (all I can
    choose is 12 hours).. This is where I am stuck. I guess I could choose 12 hours but I need it to stop at 5:20 pm not 7:20pm. Has anybody done something similar to this?

    Go ahead and choose something appropriate in dropdowns on Edit Trigger then over-type them with whatever you want.

  • Schedule a task for a given period of time

    Hi,
    any body has an idea how to schedule a task for a specified period of time. e.g A program keeps on asking for your name to be input for an hour and then start doing something else?
    /bob

    hi friend,
    Why don't you try using a TIMER. Try using this code
    Timer timer = new Timer((TIMER), new ActionListener()
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae)
    // perform your task here...
    timer.setInitialDelay(TIMER);
    timer.setRepeats(true);
    timer.start();
    I think this will work fine.
    Bye,
    Ravi.
