Windows Security Alert - "Java Platform SE binary"

After I updated to Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2, Windows Security Alert shows to block "Java Platform SE binary". Is it vulnarable to virus/adware? Do I need to block or unblock it?  http://community.ca.com/blogs/securityadvisor/archive/2009/02/24/attackers-love-zero-day.a spx suggests to uncheck Enable Acrobat JavaScript.

I think these are two completely unrelated events - your update to 9.3.2 and the security alert.

My system is a MACbook Pro running Windows 7 64-bit via bootcamp (yes, I'm booting into Windows). I have both java 32-bit and java 64-bit installed on my system. The executables are located in all the correct paths (I think) C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files (x86), and C:\Windows\System32. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all java versions multiple times and have tried executing the installer as the Admin (I have full admin rights). I also tried disabling the Symantec Endpoint protection during installation. A few other users in my company are also using the exact same system set up as I am; however, they are not having this problem. We are releasing a Netbeans based development tool to our customers very soon (it's out in Beta form now), so I really need to get this issue resolved. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
    Thank you!!

I have the same problem. I have un installed and installed java jre n jdk 6 and 7 versions multiple times. I am also runing win 7 64bit OS on macbook. I am getting this problem at the time of installation and running of both oracle OBIEE and jasper BI suits. Because of this error I tried installation of these products even after formatting my pc several times with brand new installation of BI products.

  • Trying to download Adobe Master Suite trial version and windows security alert

I am trying to download a trial version of adobe master suite but when I sigin in with my adobe ID a security alert pops up saying " Windowes security alert revocation informaiton for this certificate is not available, do you want to proceed?"
I press yes but notihng happens it keeps popping up.
My computer sits behind a firewall and proxy.  It may be useful to know if your install process accesses any TCP or UDP ports other than 80 and 443?
Also if there is a solution for iths.
    Thanks

Nothing to do with Adobe. Talk to your IT department and how they handle certificates and local security in your intranet. The default port for any HTTP communication is 8080, so yes, if it's globally blocked/ rewired, then there may be issues with downloads. In any case, this is nothing anyone around here can resolve for you.

  • LiveCycle Workbench ES2 - "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working" Error

    Hi,
I am getting this error when I try to create a new process o open an existing process.
"Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working"
The only option is to click on a "Close" button and end the LC Workbench ES2 program.
Also, when I try to open an existing form, it displays 'garbage' - a screenfull of control unrecognizable characters - instead of the form itself.
When this error comes up, I also get a pop-up window with a list of log entries / errors (please see attached: Java Platform SE binary has stopped working.jpg)
    Environment:
Windows Vista Ultimate running on HP Desktop (e9107c Intel CORE 2 Quad Processor withy 8 GB RAM, 750GB HDD)
Downloaded and installed the Trial Version of LiveCycle ES2 package (Windows JBoss version)
The LiveCycle ES2 server is installed properly and is working with the following services. Are there any missing services?
LiveCycle Output ES2, LiveCycle Rights Management ES2, LiveCycle PDF Generator ES2 Evaluation, LiveCycle Process Management ES2, LiveCycle Workspace ES2, Applications and Services, LiveCycle ContentServices ES2, LiveCycle Forms ES2
I already had Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.2 and the associated LiveCycle Designer instaleld prior to installing the Trial of LC ES2.
Basesd on the installation insttructions, I deleted the Designer ES from my Acrobat Pro Extended and instaleld the LC Workbench ES2.
Now I don't see a seprate entry for the LC Designer ES2 anymore on my Start >> Programs.
And th newly installed LC Workbench is not working
Any help in making the workbench 'work' is greatly appreciated.
Are there any tests we can do to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks.

Here is some additional information that may be helpful in identifying the cause for this problem.
Here is the Exact ERROR :
Java (TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Button: "Close Program".
On clicking that button, the error window goes away; the main LC WB ES2 program also closes; but a long error window appears. The full screenshot was attached in my original message. The top few lines are reproduced below.

I am NOT able to create a new process or open existing process using workbench.

  • "security alert" "your computer is infected"...

I don't know what happened. I clicked on a site when I got there I got a window that said the site may not be safe and to go back. I hit the back button. Then some kind of virus scan thingy started. It says something about "windows security alert" What is this? is my computer in trouble? what do I do?

Hi Coryst: No, your computer is not in trouble. It is just a scare tactic used, primarily for Windoze users. If you noticed on the, so called scan, it was most likely showing .EXE and .DLL files. Those are strictly windows files.

  • Java error - Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2010-4476

I have come across this security alert described at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alert-cve-2010-4476-305811.htm l
In summary - Java Runtime Environment hangs when converting "2.2250738585072012e-308" to a binary floating-point number.
    This vulnerability affects:
    Java SE
JDK and JRE 6 Update 23 and earlier for Windows, Solaris, and Linux
JDK 5.0 Update 27 and earlier for Solaris 9
SDK 1.4.2_29 and earlier for Solaris 8
    Java for Business
JDK and JRE 6 Update 23 and earlier for Windows, Solaris and Linux
JDK and JRE 5.0 Update 27 and earlier for Windows, Solaris and Linux
SDK and JRE 1.4.2_29 and earlier for Windows, Solaris and Linux
Java for MacOS X 10.6 update 3 updates Java to SE 6 to version 1.6.0_22.
Is anyone aware of new Java update for Mac that will fix this problem? If one doesn't exist, does anyone know when a new update will be available?
    Thanks.

    Hi Hussein,
have you applied this? Please can you update?
Our environment: 11.5.10.2 (9.2.0.7)running on HP-UX PARISC. We are using Jinitiator. We are not yet migrated to J2SE Plugin.
So, since the sercurity patch is for JRE, is that still required for our environment?
    Please advise?

Looks like you have conflict with your java home and you are running 2 different JREs. Keep the latest and try launching EM console again and post the exception if you get any.

  • Got the error message ("Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working")

    Hello Gurus,
I installed java jdk1.6.0_24 in my laptop. After that i gave the command javac, i got the error message ("Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working"). I willl highly appreciate any help on this.
The OS on my laptop is Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
    Thanks,
    Vish

    Vish,
You may want to try one of the Java forums, as your question is specific to the JDK/JRE, and nothing to do with JDev/ADF. {forum:id=937} might be a good starting place.

  • Firefox 2.0.0.8 = security alert when calling a Java applet method

I have a JavaHelp applet that I launch using a method that I called
from JavaScript when a user clicks on a link.
A problem I found with Firefox 2.0.0.8 and JRE 1.4 is that when I
click on the link it will try to display a security alert window, but
the window appears to freeze up when it is being displayed and hangs
the browser. For example, I cannot see any of the buttons that should
be on the security window. Rather the main window is empty. However,
if my applet exposes a button that the user can directly click, the
security window displays properly and can be dismissed.
With the same JavaHelp applet, the link works fine if I use it Firefox
2.0 and JRE 1.6 or JRE 1.5, and with IE 6.0 and IE 7.0. I uninstalled
and reinstalled Firefox with JRE 1.4, and I couldn't reproduce the
problem. However, I'm concerned that this problem may resurface in
    the future.
Has anyone ever seem a similar problem? And if so, are there any easy
    workarounds?

    >
I have a JavaHelp applet.. >I suggest you launch it using Java Web Start (JWS).
Here is a test of a direct launch of the HelpButton JavaHelp applet.
    <http://www.physci.org/jh/test.html#launch>
It would only take minor changes to the code to make the button entirely redundant, and have the code automatically launch the HelpViewer, once the user clicks the link to the JNLP launch file.
That 'JavaHelp/JWS' page is my test page for launching JavaHelp in a variety of forms.

  • Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working when I install Java

    Hi everyone
I have a computer where I not can uninstall or install Java.
Every time I try to run the Java uninstaller, or the Java installer (the latest version 7 Update 51),
Windows give me the following message:
Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
When I click ok to the message, the uninstaller process continue, and after that, I guess Java is
correct uninstalled, but I am not sure, because I still can find an add-on in Internet Explorer 11 from Java, but the folders etc. from the computer is
    deleted.
Therefore I searched in the Windows registry database, and deleted all keys and sub keys regarding Java.
Before I tried to install Java again, I run a registry cleaning tool and the tool also find many errors that I fixed with the tool.
When I tried to install the latest version of Java again, the installation program give me the same results I describe above.
After the installation I am more confused before I uninstalled the older version, because:
    1. When I start up Internet Explorer 11, I allow that the Java ADD-On must run, but if I try to verify that Java is installed correctly nothing happen
    2. If I try to run Java in the browser Google Chrome, Java run correctly, and I also can verify that Java
    is installed correctly.
    Another error message
Windows give me when I installed Java is that a process in Windows called
    Rundll32.exe is stopped.
When I install / uninstall other programs all working fine.
If you have a solution I can try, or alternative an answer to why the problem come up, I will be
    happy.
The computer is running Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Anders

Have you installed Microsoft Office 2010 on your development machine?
Especially if you have installed Office Groove 2010, this problem will happen.
So, uninstall Groove and try to create a process. If the problem still persists, unstall Office 2010 compeltely and try again.

  • Update JDK:Java Security alerts and CPU patching

what should we do if we already have updated the JDK in various oracle database homes? Should we revert / downgrade to JDK back to the original version or let stay with updated versions per previous Java Security alerts and CPU patch availabiltiy notes? as in MOD doc id:1449674.1

CPU is a quarterly update containing all (security) patches that are important but do not need immediate implementation. Other alert patches are more important and should be immediatly implemented.

  • Failures with windows security requirements and binaries installed

We are in the process of getting our application certified for Windows Server 2012 for Gold certification and running into the following 2 issues:
    1. Failure for "Applications must comply with Windows security requirements".
Looks like the MPR tool is trying to scan some .log files and .xml files when the test is running and these are being used/locked by the application at that time. So these are listed under "Checks that didn't complete". attached is a screenshot
    of this.
    2. Failure for "Were any binaries installed for this Component"
This is the log message for "No binaries were detected as installed". Ours is a Java app and Java binaries are the only executables.

  • Java platform independent.what is a platform?

This question has been haunting me for a long time.
When we say Java is platform independent, what does the term platform
    indicate?
I think it is Processor+Operating System.
But people talk only of Operating System as platform.
A processor has its own instruction set that is different from that of other processors. An executable code on one processor doesn't run on another processor, whatever may be the operating system.
Java code is platform independent because it is just compiled to byte code and that byte code is interpreted and run on a JVM.Here the JVM is different for different platforms.
    My question is:
    consider two platforms:
    Intel Pentium+MS Windows.
    and AMD Athlon+MS Windows.
Is the same JVM used for both these platforms?or not?WHY?
If only Operating System is Considered as platform, what happens to the underlying processor?

<troll style="flamesuit: on;">Java is not plateform inderpendent, java runs on one plateform, the Java Platform.</troll>
The "Intel / AMD + MS Windows" is two forks of one plateform, the x86 / Windows plateform.
You could extends the x86/Windows JVM to include Intel extras in such a way that it would not run on AMD/Windows.
One way you could define a plateform is as a binary format, processor intuction set and public API.
So java == .class format, bytecode and the java.* packages
and Linux x86 == ELF, x86 and POSIX (plus others, such as X)
and FreeBSD x86 == ELF, x86 and POSIX (plus others, such as X)
and Cygwin == ELF, x86 and POSIX (plus others, such as X)
    and Windowsx86 == PE, x86, MFCs
But does that mean Linux, FreeBSD and Cygwin are the same plateform, well kind-of, they are all unix-sqe, and in some cases the binarys are interchangable (a small plug in to FreeBSD will let you run Linux software, the same sort of thing is aviable to Solaris, and some very small (hello world-level) will actually run (I've seen this in the case of a Linux HelloWorld on a BeOS machine).
