Windows sees the Shuffle, iTunes and the Updater do not
This is a problem on my computer, but just my computer. I know because I connected it to my fiancee's computer and was able to update it just fine.
I have followed all the steps Here, and even went through and cleaned out the registry and iTunes and the updater still don't see it. I've been getting the "Can't Mount iPod" error in the Updater, and the updater even freezes when I first plug in the Shuffle.
It worked fine on my computer the last time I had used it, which was a couple months ago, but hasn't since. I have reinstalled Windows, up to Service Pack 4, in the meantime. I've seen some mention of that here as a potential problem, but haven't found a solution.

I'm currently having the same exact issue with my Shuffle. Have you found out a solution to this problem. If so please let me know. I'm going Nuts tryin to figure this out. I'll be sure to repost if i get any type of solution.

With iTunes open connect iPhone to the PC. In the Top Menu of iTunes at the end select Help, scroll down to near bottom, select "Run Diagnositics..." Perform all the simple tests and follow the help.

Can't download the latest iTunes. A window pops up... The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.
Now, iTunes won't launch and can't be updated. Please help.
If I have lost my music collection I will be switching platforms ASAP. It is insane that Apple has updates seemingly every day for their products.I was in your same situation with 14 downloads and 14 attempts.
You have to make sure that your Mac is booting into 64 bit mode. You can make sure of this by going into System Preferences and scrolling down to 'Software' and making sure that you are booding with 64 bit Kexts.
If not, restart while holding the 6 and 4 keys down until you see the spinning gear wheel and try installng again.
BUT, what I also did was to go into Applications, click on the Lion installer, Get Info, and give yourself custom priviliges to Read And Write.
I did this simultaneously, and I don't know what function did it, but it worked for me, with no further downloads of the installer.

I received an ITunes and Quicktime update notice on my Windows 7 PC, from Apple this morning. During the update installation, RealPlayer installed. What gives? Why is Realplayer installing with the Apple software.
Thanks for the reply. I went back to check if there was a history in windows (Event Viewer) but could not locate it in Win7. The only updates that were in the Apple Updater window were the Quicktime and ITunes. Had I let the Realplayer continue on its own, it would have installed the Google Chrome and other apps. I let it finish installing and then removed the entire program. I do not remember checking or seeing anything saying that realplayer was being downloaded until after a reboot was requested from the ITunes Update Installer.
I just thought it was strange since I do not use Realplayer and have not downloaded any software for it.
I am on a corporate PC with a pretty thick firewall, but something may have slipped through.

I was updating my ipad2 to iOS.5 version, and somehow the iPad turned of and the update was not finished. When i turned on the iPad the computer nor iTunes could recognize the iPad. I have windows xp. How can I solve this issue?

Hi . Ever since I downloaded the last itunes and quicktime update ( a week or so ago), I can't access any movies or video podcasts i have store in itunes on my pc (vista). iTunes crashes and my error reports tell me it is a quicktime error. Today, 01/23/2014, I tried updating iTunes, as I got a messsage that update was available. The update did not download correctly I got the message to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it. After the uninstall and reinstall I got an error message, that stated: The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program fo fix. then I got the message, iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (windows error 126) I have had iTunes since I purchased the iphone in 2012. I have only updated the product since then until today when I did the uninstall ans reinstall as stated in above directions. I am not sure what is different now. please help
I had this problem as well but found the soultion on another post from turingtest2 - it worked for me:
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selectingRun as Administrator.

i got a new lenovo desktop windows 8.1,installed itunes and synced my iphone 4 no problems. then i imported a cd of songs which showed up in recently added but not in main library ,therefore it did not sync to the iphone. how can i get new songs to appear in the main library and sync properly

johnCheck the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

try doing the update would not download. So like a dummy I did what I went and downloaded the new itunes so it would update itunes did it before and it worked at first it would tell me that I was missing MSVCR80.dll so I downloaded it again and reinstalled it and now it won't work at all
Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

I did the itunes and ios updates and it came up with something about apple recovery mode.
The phone will not work and its not being recognised in iTunes.
What do I do? I think I may have made it worse because I've tried to reinstall the previous version of itunes as was suggested elsewhere.

Try switching off your seurity software and restore the device http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
NB: using that article will erase everything so make sure you have a backup
try restoring on another computer if this fails, and if that doesn't work either, the device needs hardware repair. -
When I click on Firefox the first time it says "Foxfire is installing your updates and will start in a few moments…. (with a green bar)" then it says "Software Update Failed (in blue) with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle)

If I open another Firefox window with the previous one still running, it doesn't give me any of these messages, it just opens normally.

Every time Firefox openedIf you can't install on top of the current installation then you need to delete or rename the current Firefox program folder to do a clean install.
It is possible that your security software is using or locking files, so you can try to temporarily disable that software during the installation. -
Windows Server 2008 R2: "The update is not applicable to your computer"

I'm trying to install a "Windows Update Standalone Installer" file (Windows6.1-KB3032323-x64.msu) along with other .msu files and I keep getting the same message: "The update is not applicable to your computer". The server is a
virtual machine and is also the vCenter server for the system, so I REALLY don't want to mess this installation up and break the system but the installation is needed and mandatory. How can I go about installing these .msu files.
*Note* The system is located in a classified environment so it doesn't have a connection to the outside (unclassified) world. But I'm able to have the .msu files placed on the system at any time.

When I try to install security patch KB2525694 and KB978542 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, I get the message "The Update is Not Applicable To Your Computer". I am using the following files:
