  • It is compatible Obi 11g  with Windows Server  2012 and Sql Server 2012?

    Hi every
    Please help with two questions.
    1. - Obi 11g is supported on Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012?
There a compatibility matrix which mention compatibility with versions 2012?
    2. - is feasible to install Obi 11g in separate server and install weblogic on another server?
    I appreciate the prompt response
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
As of November 2012 Compatibility Matrix released by Oracle for OBI 11.1.1.x Windows 2012 and SQL Server 2012 were not supported. It was supported on 2008 Windows and SQL Server.
We can have weblogic and OBI server's on 2 different machines. The approach is to opt software only install. the link below will give more details:

Let me know if this helped.

  • How to switch between SQL Server Express and SQL Server Evaluation

I have both SQL Server Express and SQL Server Evaluation installed on my laptop.
I am wondering how to start SQL Server Evaluation; when I click All Programs > SQL Server Management Studio, I always get SQL Server Express (which I installed on my laptop a couple years ago).
I just downloaded SQL Server Evaluation (a couple days ago).
Whenever I try to access SQL Server Evaluation, I always seem to get SQL Server Express.
Sorry if this is a trivial thing; I just can’t seem to get it to work (and I Googled for a solution before posting this).
    Thanks everyone!!

Ah!  It worked!!  This is great!!  It seems like I can connect to my version of SQL Server Evaluation, named 'EXCEL-PC\EXCEL'.
Somehow, though, I seem to keep getting errors in my BIDS when I try to run an SSIS project.  See below:
Ah!  It worked!!  This is great!!  It seems like I can connect to my version of SQL Server Evaluation, named 'EXCEL-PC\EXCEL'.
I am getting an error that VS is unable to load a document:
BIDS has to be installed by one of these editions of SQL Server 2008: Standard, Enterprise, Developer, or Evaluation.
To install BIDS, run SQL Server Setup and select Business Intelligence Development Studio.
#1)  I recently downloaded and installed SQL Server Evaluation (specifically for the opportunity to try using BIDS and learn about this technology).
#2)  When I run BIDS > SSIS, I get the error I described above.
#3)  I have had SQL Server Express installed for a couple years on my laptop
So, my question is this: is it possible that BIDS > SSIS is picking up my SQL Server Express, instead of SQL Server Evaluation?
If so, how can I get BIDS to point to SQL Server Evaluation?
You can see in the image above that I have my BIDS Data Connections pointing to EXCEL-PC\EXCEL, which is the name of my SQL Server Evaluation.
Is this correct?  Why doesn’t this work?
I’ve spent some considerable time on this.  I’m close to just uninstalling EVERYTHING pertaining to SLQ Server, and just reinstalling SQL Server Evaluation, but this will take some time, and I don’t necessarily want
to get rid of my SQL Server Express.  However, if that’s the only way to get this working, then that’s what I’ll do.
I’d greatly appreciate any insight into this!!

  • How to add sql server (SQLEXPRESS) AND sql server Agent(SQLEXPRESS) in sql server Configuration Manager

When I had uninstall Sql Server 2008 R2, that time I had uninstalled instances (SQLEXPRESS and MSSQLSERVER) and again installed sql server 2008 r2 setup .
Before uninstalling from control panel >Uninstall program showed two setups
    1) Microsoft sql server  2) Microsoft sql server R2 , I uninstalled both.
As i installed SQL R2 again, it is showing only 1 instance ie "Microsoft sql server R2" but the other instance is some how missing -"Microsoft sql server" and
also sql server (SQLEXPRESS)  AND sql server Agent(SQLEXPRESS)  services from sql server configuration manager are missing
How to retain the missing instance and the above services?
    Plz give replay

    Hi Tushar,
I need to ask you a question here.
Why you require SQL Express edition on your machine, if there is no need you can safely ignore it and continue using SQL Server 2008 R2 edition.
Express edition can also get installed if you happen to have installed Visual Studio 2010 for instance.
If you need it then you must install SQL Server Express edition, It is a freeware and can be download from Microsoft website.

  • Server 2012 and sql server 2008...

I have both running on the same machine, but the ASP pages running on the IIS reaches out through the network returning to the source machine to touch the database.
I cant remember how to set the IIS to reach the database on the same machine.....
    Any ideas guys?

In addition to previous responses you can configure the connection string in your application instead of the user that execute the application (which is what Lydia's solution is doing). In this case you can check this list of connection string and find the
    one that fit your need
    https://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server-2008/
    https://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server-2012/
Using this option you can use any existing user that already have the right permissions in order to connect to the database.
    * This is not recommendation to use this option on any other option, but another option that you should think about. This option have several great advantages but same with the option to control throw the user that execute the application.

  • Windows 8.1 and SQL Server 2012

    Let me set the environment..
I recently upgraded from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1. Pro. Before the upgrade I was able to run a application that we use that has a SQL 2012 database connection.
After the upgrade we are now getting this error "[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied."
I have been checking some of the related errors but everything I've tried so far has not resolved the issue. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I think the upgrade may have broke something in the TCP stack.
Keep in mind that WIndows 8, Windows 7 and previous versions are fine and not having an issue.

  • Weblogic  server10.3.3 (Oracle Weblogic Server 11gR1) and sql server 2008db

Is SQL Server 2008 db supported for use with weblogic server 10.3.3
we use connection pools and XA and weblogic bundled drivers
we are planning an upgrade from 9.2mp3 to 10.3.3 weblogic server
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13196_01/platform/suppconfigs/configs103/103_over/supported_db.html#1179245
seems to indicate that only sqlserver 2005 is supported
Is there a more current version of the suported configurations that I am missing ?
    Appreciate any feedback on this
    Thanks

contact support for official policy. Technically, the drivers do support the DBMS version.
If you use any higher API than JDBC, there might be a question as to whether a
particulare API was certified with the latter DBMS version, but unless the DBMS
changed so it behaved differently than the previous for the same activity, then
    there should be no problem....

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 with remote WSUS on Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012

I am rebuilding my SCCM 2012 lab on Server 2012 R2 x64 OS now.
I have 1 primary site, remote SQL server 2012, and remote WSUS server.
Is the WSUS console still required on my primary site running server 2012? If so are the below the correct steps to get this working?
    Install Console on primary server:
Go to Server Manager à Add Roles and features, Navigate to the features section.
    Remote Server Manager tools
    >Role Administration Tools
--Select Windows Server Update Services Tools Only
Are there any post hotfixes to install?
Intalling WSUS full version on remote server:
Go to Server Manager à Add Roles and features, Server Roles section.
    Windows Server Update Services
Do I need to select this as well on the remote wsus server? >Role Administration Tools -Select Windows Server Update Services Tools Only
Since my SQL server is on a remote server do I select the below only?
Are there any post hotfixes to install?

    Hi,
One Part of the question is already answered. The second part is: If you want to use a remote SQL Server you need to select exactly what you selected in your screenshot.

  • Changing sql server service and sql server agent service startup account in SQL Server hosting SharePoint DB

    Hi
i have a sharepoint deployment with one SQL Server (running on VM) hosting the config DB and another SQL Server (Physical Host because VM was running out of space) to host the huge Content DBs. I need to schedule automatic backups of the Content DBs to a
network share. For that i need to run the SQL Server Service with an account having permissions to the share as suggested in https://support.microsoft.com/kb/207187?wa=wsignin1.0
I tried changing the logon as a service account to a domain
account which has permissions to the Network Share and is also in local Administrators group of SQL Server and has "public and sysadmin" roles in SQL Server but that caused an issue. the SharePoint Web Application started showing a White Screen so
I had to revert back to the default accounts i.e. NT Service\SQLSERVERAGENT and NT Service\MSSQLSERVER. I viewed the event logs . These are the types of error i got after changing the logon as a service account to a domain account

    Hi Aparna,
According to your description, you get the above two errors when scheduling backups of Content DB. Right?
Based on those two error messages, they are related to the service principal name(SPN) for SQL Server service. Please verify the if the SPN is registered successfully. You can view it in ADSI Edit or use command line. Please see:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/psssql/archive/2010/03/09/what-spn-do-i-use-and-how-does-it-get-there.aspx
When installing SQL Server, those two services below should be registered:
            MSSQLSvc/servername:1433
            MSSQLSvc/servername
Please check if those SPNs or duplicated SPNs exist. You can use command to reset SPN or remove duplicated SPN and add new one. See:
    Setspn.
We have also met this issue when this SPN is registered under Administrator. Please try to register it under Computer. You can add it in ADSI Edit.

  • Database between two server (sun and sql server)

    Hi Ioakim
Performing an atomic transaction(ACID) that spans a source system, BizTalk and then a different destination system is not possible. This is due to the nature of distributed transactions - it may not be practical to hold locks on resources(needed for atomic
transactions) that are spread across different networks. Given that there is no guarantee that the resources may be released in a reasonable amount of time, transactions in BizTalk can only be scoped to and from the BizTalk MessageBoxDb. Or in other words,
you can read a record to BizTalk transactionally and on the send side, send a message from BizTalk transactionally.
However, you can simulate/fake atomic transaction characteristics(although tricky) using compensation logic within BizTalk orchestrations. So, lets say you read+delete a record from SystemA into BizTalk, and that record has to be updated in SystemB.
If for some reason the insert to SystemB fails, you would have to write custom logic in a compensation block that then performs the reverse operation in SystemA - i.e., it inserts back the record in SystemA in this case. So, using compensating actions, it
is possible to ensure that all the systems involved are transactionally consistent at the end of the day.
There's an article from C.Young that discusses this in some detail-

To be specific to your question. You can very well attach SQL 2005 database to SQL server 2008 and SQL server 2012.But how your application will respond to New database will be difficult to tell.

  • SQL server 2014 and Sql 2012 installation on VMWare machine

    Hi ,
Please let me know Can we Install SQL Server 2014 RTM version and SQL Server 2012 SP1 On Vmare machine version 9.
Does it Supports on VMware 9 . If yes please give me the links .
    Thanks a lot

    Hello,
You can find that on VMware Web site for their high end products only as you can see in the following URL. For VMware
    9 you won't find it.
    http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/sim/interop_matrix.php
VMware 9 is a PC product that basically allows to install any product that works on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 or earlier. VMware 9 introduces support for Windows 8 and Windows 2012.
So, SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 should install on Windows 8/Windows 2012 RTM with no issues on a VMware 9 virtual machine. Earlier operating systems may require installation of service packs and updates as explained on the following URLs.

  • OraOledb, Linked Servers and SQL Server 2005 issues

Some issues I've come across when using SQL Server 2005 (and SQL Server Express 2005), the OraOLEDB provider (10.2.0.1) and a linked Oracle database (8.1.7.4.0 64-bit)
    1) You must set the OraOledb.Oracle\AllowInProcess value to 1 to allow the OraOledb provider to run in SQL Server's process. Without doing this I receive an 'unspecified error' from the OLE DB provider when attempting to run a query
    2) When running a ' select * ' query across a linked server using the provider, I receive the following error: Msg 9803, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid data for type "numeric". I can, however, select all of the columns by name and the query completes (no error). Sometimes the 'select *' query returns a few rows before the error, sometimes it doesn't. The Microsoft Provider for Oracle does not have this problem

Okay... I've got a Win2K3 Std Ed server (x64) running 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. I've installed the Oracle 10g 10.2.1 full client and admin tools, added two named services via the NetConfig assistant, and successfully set up (and tested) a connection via the ODBC Administrator to an Oracle database.
Now... when I try to create a new connection manager in SQL Server 2005 Integration Services, the OLEDB provider for Oracle can't be found, and when I try to manually add an underlying OLEDB connection to the database, SQL Server reports:
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle.1' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Does anyone know what I need to do to see my ODBC Server data connections in SQL Server 2005 (64 bit)? I don't have this issue on my 32-bit SQL Server 2005 servers.
