Windows Server 2008 - Now F11 Recovery doesn't work

Greetings all--
I decided to experiment with my TouchSmart 504 and installed Windows Server 2008 (32 bit). However, since 2008 doesn't seem to like the onboard NIC, I wanted to go back to Vista 64, but now the F11 option to go into system recovery doesn't work. No matter how many times I press it, it just goes back into W2K8. Being something less than smart, I didn't make any recovery disks (couldn't find where to do so). I've ordered the recovery media, but is there anything I can do in the meantime?

You did the right thing - use recovery discs. To see if the recovery data is still on the HD, go in and see if you still have the recovery partition on the hard drive.

Windows Server 2008 R2 System Recovery Options - No disks!

Hi,
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM running on CITRIX XenCentre v5.6 SP2.
The XenCentre host is a HP ProLiant DL 580 G7.
The VM's C:/ is hosted on a SAN which is controlled by DataCore SANSymphony-V PSP2.
I need to perform some work to resolve an underlying issue with the 2008 VM which requires me to perform a 'System Recovery'. When I do this however I am presented with the attached screen shot which lists no drives to repair.
Looks like 'Load Drivers' is the way to go but what drivers am I supposed to load? Xen drivers? DataCore drivers? Generic drivers? anyone know?

Windows itunes 10.7 update break itunes (windows server 2008 x64) older version of itunes works fine

I just update itunes 10.7 to my (windows server 2008 R2) PC.
After update it stops to work...
Itunes just closes when tryning to start.
I did try repairn installation but status is same.
Old version was workin fine, how i can fix this?

Windows Server 2008 R2 AD recovery

I have a 2008 R2 Domain Controller that was running Exchange 2010 that I recently ran windows updates on (4 months worth) and afterword it would no longer boot. It would get to the point were you could see the cursor and then just restart. I
tried everything I could think of but I could not get it to work. Now I have reinstalled 2008 R2 on that server and I am trying to recover Active Directory and Exchange 2010. The databases for both of these were installed on a separate SSD drive
on the server. Is there is some way to recover them?
Unfortunately I do not have a backup that will help at all. The portable USB drive I used is also DOA.
The active directory information is fairly small and I wouldn't mind recreating it, however the exchange database is critical.
I can't just copy over the old exchange data files from the backup I made of the server after it wouldn't boot can I? Is there any way to recover any data from the files on the SSD?
Any help at all would be appreciated.

To be able to restore Active Directory, both AD database (NTDS and SYSVOL) and Operating System volume need to be reserved.

Tx2525nr upgraded to windows 7 and now f11 recovery to vista does not work

im new here and i hope to get any answers from my problem on this laptop. i owned a hptx2525nr and recently upgraded to windows 7, now i wanted to go back to vista but upon pressing f11 (the original recovery on hard drive), nothing happens. "f11 system recovery" is listed on the lower left but thats it. it continues to load windows 7. I hope people around here can help me.

Web Service Client(Console App) not working on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition

I am trying to consume an ASMX Web Service in a console app, its working fine in Windows 7,Windows Server 2012 Standard,Windows Server 2008 R2 DataCenter,Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, But its not working in Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition which
is the deployment server.
I tried consuming the ASMX web service using Web Reference and Service Reference as well but its not helping. Its throwing up the following error,
Message:There is an error in XML document (1, 331491).
Inner Exception : System.Xml.XmlException: '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 331491.
The scenario is that i call the web service and it returns me an XML i am not able to receive the XML on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition.
Please provide suggestions on this I need to resolve this ASAP.

Windows Server 2008 xml sync not working

Windows Server 2008 message - xml sync has stopped working. this is preventing me from having my documents automatically upload to a client website for their viewing. these file are uploaded with FTP automatically when
printed form the computer. I will also get an error that SBS Console has stopped working and restart. The console will then work after clicking restart. These are probably related issues. Appreciate any step by step instructions to
get the XML Sync issue resolved so hopefully documents will upload again.

I will also get an error that SBS Console has stopped working and restart.
For the SBS console issue, please follow the path:
C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs and check Console log file if find more relevant clues.

Unable to join Mac OS X 10.7.4 to windows server 2008 Standard SP2 Domain

Hi everyone,
I have an issue regarding the above, i have to connect several MBK pro using OS X 10.7.4 to a Windows Server 2008 Standard Service Pack 2.
I tried joining it using Static IP configurations, and using Domain names but it returns an error as Unable to connect to server and an error code 5302.
Please does anybody have a hint to this issue.....your help will be most appreciated.

I have verified every required settings closely and had it cross checked over and over again with the network administrator himself, every settings was in place but when i tried to bind with the domain it returns server not found.
I also ping the server and it works....i verified the RJ45 cable...all is fine.
i tried updating from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but the problem persists.
Infact originally i had to bind the Mac OS X 10.7.3 and 10.7.4 to a Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2, it didn't worked then afterwards i tried to bind them to a Windows Server 2008 R2....it worked on 2 but on the third it didn't.
So does anybody have an idea or can anyone confirm me if Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7.4???

Cisco Wireless AP with windows server 2008 r2

I am using Cisco Aironet 2600 ap's (cisco ios 15.2) with Microsoft windows server 2008 r2 NPS. The authentication works perfectly for the client (android phone) and I am able to access the network (ie. I can open the switch admin page or the AP
access page from the client.) however I am unable to connect to the internet from the client connected through the AP. The internet is working fine on the server and all other wired clients. Not sure if there is a setting or I need to put a policy
into the windows firewall to allow access or I should set up a VPN connection through the AP to allow internet only access on the network so to not expose my network to the internet.

If you are not able to access internet, you might need to check your routes and if there is any router or firewall that is dropping the traffic.

Task manager on windows server 2008 doesn't show the memory from newly installed 2nd CPU

We have a dual processor dell power edge t410 running windows server 2008 (64-bit), standard edition. I have recently added a 2nd xeon x5560 quad-core processor (first one is also x5560 with 32GB (4x8) memory) and 16GB ram (4x4). Seems like the new CPU is
recognized in BIOS, Dell's server admin app and task manager shows 16 vertical boxes (hyper threading is on both cpus) under Performance->CPU Usage History and these boxes show processor load spread relatively evenly across all threads. On the other hand
the additional memory for this CPU is visible in the BIOS, Dell server admin but not in the task manager, which still shows the 32gb under performance->physical memory. Rammap also shows only 32GB.. Currently running proprietary processes that along with
the metafile and windows own ring up nearly 30GB, which in turn causes system latency for GUI and apps, as if the additional 16GB are not there...
So the questions are these:
1) does anybody know why the added memory doesn't show up in the task manager / rammap?
2) if the new memory doesn't show up, does this mean that Windows does not use it (which should be impossible if the CPU is utilized, unless I am wrong about windows using the cpu..)?

Unfortunately this solution is inapplicable to my version of the OS as it is 64-bit and not 32-bit. Do you have any other ideas?

Yes, PAE((Physical Address Extension) is supported only on 32-bit versions of the

In Programs and Features, you can have more options by right click on the tabbed window showing Name, Publisher and Installed on. May be you can check that once otherwise try to reinstall the features using Turn Windows features on /off.

Windows server 2008 recovery to server 2012

I am currently running a 2008 windows server and have ran a backup of the whole server. I backed it up because I just bought a 2012 server because my 2008 server is not performing optimally anymore. I updated the 2012 to the latest update and transferred
my backup from the old server to a partition on the new server. First it gave me an error about not being able to find the catalogs not being found. I then retransferred the whole save including those files and tried to run the recovery again, this time it
gave me an error about not being able to find a recovery. My question is this, is it possible to use my recovery from windows server 2008 and recover all my work on my new 2012 server or do I have to start all over?

I don't think you can 'recover' a 2008 system to a 2012 system. If you want to retain the installed programs, the way to accomplish that is to perform an inplace upgrade from 2008 to 2012. The upgrade process will properly adjust settings.
A 'restore' is trying to dump things back without any knowledge that a completely new operating system is sitting underneath it.
Your best solution is to perform a clean installation of the operating system and a clean installation of the applications and then restore the data to the application. Performing inplace upgrades always leaves the possibility of something not quite
coming across correctly and can lead to support issues in the future.

I am not trying to restore the system from 2008 to 2012 just all my applications and settings that I currently have on the server. I am trying to not have to basically build my whole server again on the new one I bought, I am just trying to transfer all programs
and data over to my new 2012 server. Could I just take my new 2012 server and downgrade it down to a 8008 server?

But if exe is launched as standalone, then interface IExtractImage --> Extract, gives Bitmap to generate thumbnail of PDF document.
Above problem occurs only for PDF documents, if we tried same with other software like CAD -CATIA it works without any problem.
Is there any security concerns form PDF side, which doesn't allow to generate Bitmaps, if exe to generate it is launched form Windows service.

It might be deliberate, Acrobat and Reader software is not intended to run in a service environment.
