Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2

Does anyone know when we can expect Service Pack 2 to be released? The latest info I can find here is from 2012 and still no Service Pack 2 for this version of Windows Server.

Need solution for solving TIME_WAIT in TCP/IP ports in Windows Server 2008 Standard Service Pack 2

In one of our windows machine( OS : Windows Server 2008 Standard (Service Pack 2)-32bit), we are facing TIME_WAIT in all the TCP/IP ports and it is not getting closed.
On analyzing the issue, we found solution for this from the below link,

In this page, we are able to get the hotfix for Windows Server2008 R2 SP1 but i can't able to get for Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2(32bit). If we try to apply the hotfix vailable for SP1, it is showing "The update does not apply to your System".
Kindly provide us the solution for solving TIME_WAIT issue in the machine.

Problem installing Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Multilingual User Interface Language Packs

I downloaded Windows6.1-KB2483139-x64-en-US.exe but when I ran it on my Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (as Administrator) it does not run properly. I noticed it created a new cabinet file named "lp" briefly, then deleted it. Nothing else
appears on the screen.
My goal is to install Chinese display fonts on my server. Please help.

First of all, if you want Chinese display language, you need to choose chinese in the drop down list on the download page. Here's a direct link in case you need it.

Windows6.1-KB2483139-x64-zh-CN.exe is the file name for the Chinese simplified language pack.
1. The exefile extracts the file cabinet lp.cab which is the file you need to import the language pack.
2. Start lpksetup.exe and Point out the cab-file you just extracted.
If you want to do it with cmdline, you can do it with dism in an elevated command prompt as well:
Dism /online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\test\lp.cab
Note that you still need to create a policy or change default language in some way for your users.

As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.

According to your description, when you install SQL Server 2008 R2 service pack 1, we need to verify if
you must have administrative rights on the computer.
There are multiple files available for the download, you will be prompted to select the files you need. We need to verify if you run the SQLServer2008R2SP1-KB2528583-x64-ENU.exe. Or you can install SQL server updates from the command
prompt and check if it can install successfully.
You can prepare an installation of database engine instance to include product update:
setup.exe /q /IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms /ACTION=PrepareImage /UpdateEnabled=True /UpdateEnabled=True /UpdateSource=<path where the update is downloaded> /INSTANCEID=<Instance ID> /FEATURES=SQLEngine

CF 7.02 won't install ond Windows Server Enterprise 2003, Service Pack 1, IIS 6.0

CF 7.02 won't install on Windows Server Enterprise 2003,
Service Pack 1, IIS 6.0. When I run the Administrator the message
indicates that MX has been installed but when I open the page with
the web browser the message is Service Unavailable.

I get the message when I open try to load ColdFusion
Administrator page or the index page on the cold fusion web site

Security Update for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 (KB2977320)

So i have been trying to install this update on one of our servers since it is showing up on our MBSA scans but it has been failing on one of our machines with the error code: 0x80070643
I downloaded the update and tired to install it manually. The installer returned: There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer. If that was true then why is SCCM still pushing the update to the machine and why
is the MBSA showing that it needs the update? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Based on my understanding, the error code: 0x80070643 was thrown out when you install KB2977320 with MBSA. And installation also failed when you download and install update manually.
Regarding the error code: 0x80070643, it can be caused if the MSI software update registration has become corrupted, or if the .NET Framework installation on the computer has become corrupted. To fix this issue, we can follow these methods:
Fix MSI software update registration corruption issues
Repair the .Net Framework
Uninstall and reinstall the .Net Framework

SAPRouter on Windows Server 2008 R2 / Service definition

I installed SAPRouter on a Windows Server 2008 R2 and i have troubles registering saprouter as a service...
The installation directory is: C:\usr\sap\saprouter. There are these files:
niping.exe
sapcar.exe
ntscmgr.exesaprouter.exe
I am able to start the router from the command line.

If you don't want to run the service then just stop the service from services file.

About to deploy sp1 and try this hotfix for the dns server that stops responding. Are there any known major issues to look for with service pack 1 on server 2008 sp1? I have exchange 2010 running on it also and its the domain controller... "i know

You should install SP1 and also missing Windows Updates that were released after SP1. This is mandatory to keep your systems secure and avoid unnecessary problems.
Environments I manage are up-to-date and I am not aware about issues that could cause instability of the systems you are running. Of course, it is always recommended to test updates in a test environment before pushing them to production.

I need to install Service Pack 3 for SQL Server 2008 R2, but have a doubt , Do I need install service pack in each Rol Server or just install over Data Base Engine Server ?

SP3 for SQL server 2008 r2 is not there I guess you are talking about SQL server 2008.When you install Service pack and reach to 'Select Features ' page please select all the features. You can see SSIS ,SSRS and SSAS listed there as well with database engine
and client tools.
After selecting all features SP will be installed for all and all features will be patched

If you want the session to use the default keyboard layout stored in the user profile instead of the layout provided by the Terminal Server client after the user logs on to the Terminal Server computer, you can set the IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout registry value

1. On the terminal server, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry information:
Value name: IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 1
4. Quit Registry Editor.

What's the benefit of upgrading my SQL Server 2008R2 with the service packs that are available for it?

In large software applications such as office suites, operating systems, database software, or network management, it is not uncommon to have a service pack issued within the first year or two of a product's release. Installing a service pack is easier and
less error-prone than installing many individual patches, even more so when updating multiple computers over a network, where service packs are common.

I got a question about the installation of oracle 10g release2.
Is there any issues installing oracle 10g release2 on a windows server 2008 with Service pack 2?
