Windows server 2008 R2: The following fatal alert was generated: 40. The internal error state is 1205.

On my app server which is win2008R2, no IIS installed, I kept getting these errors:
"The following fatal alert was generated: 40. The internal error state is 1205." - Event ID 36888
"An TLS 1.0 connection request was received from a remote client application, but none of the cipher suites supported by the client application are supported by the server. The SSL connection request has failed." - Event ID 36874
I did a few search on google but they mentioned about the SSL.  However, my server has no SSL installed.  We don't have a need to put SSL on the app server.   Any help will very appreciated.
-vecon

Simply ignore the message then.
If you would like to investigate further, you will need to identify the source of the TLS connection. If this is not logged in event viewer then you could give a look to IIS logs or simply use a Network Sniffer like Wireshark to inspect the traffic.

    Hello,
for the first 2 errors you find answers like
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/windowsserver/en-US/091a3222-641b-43a3-ae19-6cc238828950/certificate-services-cant-connect-using-ssl

So assure that used certificates are not broken.
Also it would be great to post the complete error messages and list all installed server roles and applications from that machines with the errors for a better overview.
Are all machines installed with the latest available SPs and updates?

  • Event ID 36888. The following fatal alert was generated: 51. The internal error state is 1306.

I have searched on TechNet as well as googled it. I have not found too much information as to what specifically is the issue here. I do know that Alert 51 has to do with TLS. I have adjusted the registry to enable logging for TLS 1.0 (client and server),
but do not know exactly the version Lync 2010 uses.
I have also removed an old certificate.  This did eliminate an earlier Schannel error message.  Yet, this particular one, 51 internal error state 1306, kept coming back.
Although I can disable the logging, I prefer to know what specifically is going on and what is generating this error message.  Does anyone have any ideas?
    TIA

    Hi Simon
I opened a SEV B case  today.  Appears to directly reflect the amount of load i put through, in terms of data being shipped with our migration tool.  That tool is basically logging into each mailbox using a superuser account and populating
it with mail and calendar data form a source cloud mailbox.  No fancy co-existence or online move requests.
All throttle policies are removed.  Attempting to migrate more than 20 mailboxes at a time results in the System Event log being filled with the Schannel error above.  Reducing the amount below this still shows the errors appearing, but not enough
to stop mailbox data being shipped and the migration tool suffering a stop error.
I will update the thread tomorrow when i speak with the engineer.  Surprised noone has had any input so far.
I have the same problem, here is some data. I have two exchange profiles and the 2nd one stops logging in after this error starts. I have to reset the wireless connection and restart outlook to clear the situation.

I would appreciate if you can help clarify the following questions:
When did this issue begin to occur?
Have you experience any low performance since came across this event error?
Is this a client inside a domain?
    Please refer to this thread,
it seems this issue have something to do with security software or exchange server related client.

  • How to restrict users working on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2

    Dear All,
We are having an infrastructure setup of around 500 client computers managed through group policy.
Recently the domain controllers have been migrated from Windows Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2.
Since this account requires extremely strict environment, we need to figure the solution for restricting the users from access anything locally.
It would be great if you can assist me with the following query.
How to restrict users logged on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and browsing other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2 ?
Can we disable Network Tab on the left hand pane ?
explorer.exe is blocked already, but users are able to enter the Windows Explorer by clicking on the name which is visible on the Start Menu.

You cannot block explorer.exe when you do not replace the shell - the
desktop you see effectively IS explorer.exe...
Your requirement sounds like you need a custom shell:

Please run the cluster validation and post the error or warning information, in normal scenario the “Failed to connect to the service manager” issue often caused by the firewall

  • Getting error after enabling the Transaction in SSIS package in Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard machine

    Hi,
I created a package with "Execute SQL Task and Data Flow Task". I am able to execute successfully in my server having
"Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard" Operating System.
But after enabling the Transaction in my SSIS Package I am not able to execute it. It is giving error. The same package is running in my local machine with Transaction enabled on
    Windows 7 Operation System.
The error which I got in my server after enabling the Transaction is
"The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D025
"The partner transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions.".  End Error "
I search with this error message in google and found some solutions in the following links

But none of the above solution is not working. Kindly help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Sridhar

    Hi Sridhar,
Please compare the DTS settings on the Windows 7 computer and the Windows Server 2008 R2 computer and make sure they are identical.  Make sure the “Allow Inbound” and “Allow Outbound” options are check, and pay attention to the authentication mode as
    well.
Besides, make sure both Distributed Transaction Coordinator (TCP-In) and Distributed Transaction Coordinator (TCP-Out) rules in Firewall are enabled.
If the issue persists and there are any security/anti-virus software, temporarily disable the security/anti-virus software and check the issue again.

  • Running oracle database xe (express edition) on windows server 2008 r2

Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?
Database XE is only supported as 32-bit. Current builds of Windows Server 2008 only come in x64 configurations.
Here are the Database XE system requirements for windows:
The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported.
Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).
    See:
    - [Wikipedia page about windows server 2008 with info on R2|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2008#Windows_Server_2008_R2]
    - [Wikipedia page on "windows 32-bit on windows 64-bit"|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW64]
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hello Matt,
Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?No.
The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported. So this means that only 32bit versions of 2008 will be supported.
Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).Which is probably why 2008 R2 is not supported.
    You can either take the VM approach and install a 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Linux host, or you can queue in the list of persons waiting for a 64 bit Windows release. See the following thread for details (and the queue) for the latter: {thread:id=2277728}

Searching through the forums (and according to KB2484290) it appears that there is no solution to this problem.  We are rolling out thin clients that are using dual monitors exclusively and we were very surprised to find out that we couldn't shadow
sessions with dual monitors (which to us means that we can't shadow ANY sessions).  This now completely changes our approach to managing these devices.
We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Remote Desktop Services installed.  The thin clients are running Windows Embedded Standard 7 with the latest updates / RDP client. All steps have been followed to ensure that the apropriate settings and
permissions have been set up to allow access into the session.
We tested by unchecking the RDP setting “use all my monitors for the remote session”, with that setting disabled shadowing worked
    Questions:
    1. KB2484290 is from Dec 2010 - It's now April 2012, is there a workaround / hotfix for this issue that will allow us to shadow sessions using the native Microsoft tools?
    2. Are there any recommended alternatives (software)?  Free/Paid - doesn't matter we just need something that will work.  I'm sure there are a few options out there but I am looking for suggestions for what people have used in the past that worked
best for them to help us narrow down the choices.

    Hi,
In my experience, so far, the workaround is Remote Assistance, Remote Assistance supports multiple monitors, and is the presently recommended solution if you need this functionality. Remote Assistance is a Windows Server Feature that must be explicitly installed
on Windows Server 2008 R2; it is already installed with the client versions of the operating system.

As far as I know, there are some third-party tools can be used as the solution, such as Teamviewer, ISL Online, etc.

  • Can I install Solution Manager 7.0 in Window Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ed.?

    Hi, SDN experts.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2?
I checked the the software requirement for SAP Solution Manager 7.0, it only mentioned Window Server 2003 and 2008  enterprise edition.
I am trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 in in Window Server 2008 R2 enterprise edition?
When I ran the Solution Manager Master Installer, the Pre-requisite Checker gave a warning message saying that it detected incompatible server version, that the server version is Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (I guess it meant Window Server 2008 R2).
    =======
The following Windows operating system version is supported: Windows Server 2003 (i.e. Version 5.2) and Windows Server 2008 (i.e. Version 6.0).
Current Windows version: Version 6.1, Service Pack 1.0, productive type: Server.
You can check the current version of you operating system by runningu2026u2026..
    ========
Can I actually install Solution Manager 7.0 in Window Server 2008 R2? Will this cause problem during the installation/post-installation if I ignore this message?
    Thanks,
    KC

    Hi,
I think it is not straight forward to install SAP Solution Manager 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2.
I am installing Solution Manager 7.0 , the installation encountered error on Create Java Users step (Phase 31 of 44). When I login to SAP solution Manager system through SAP GUI. I encountered this error:
"OS release Windows NT 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 4x AMD64 Level 6 (Mod 44 Step 2) is not supported with this kernel (700)'
I found that it is because I am installing SAP Solution Manger 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2, which the existing kernel version does not support.
Do you know which kernel I should install?
    I browsed in:
SAP Application Components" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0" Entry by Component" Solution Manager ABAP Stack
    SAP KERNEL 7.00 64-BIT UNICODE --> Windows Server on x64 64bit -->MS SQL SERVER
    I downloaded:
SAPEXEDB_291-20001361.SAR      Kernel Part II (for Basis 7.00)       291
Is this the right Kernel patch I should use?
If it is the right kernel patch file, how do I apply the latest kernel to existing Solution Manager system? Can you give me some guidance on this?
    Thanks,
    KC
