Windows Server 2012 R2 will not install when Server 2012 non-R2 installs fine.

Our company has several Windows Server 2012 servers that installed and work without issues. However, we purchased several Server 2012 R2 licenses to install on the exact same hardware, and at the very beginning of the install process it does not recognize
any of the hard drives, and cannot continue with the install. I have put the drivers that the non-R2 servers use on a flash drive, and tried to use those drivers during the R2 installs, but none work. This is extremely frustrating, and I want to know what
my options are? Is it a signed driver issue? Can I disable signed driver checks before installing R2? Thanks for any help.
P.S. I will even consider downgrading the Server 2012 R2 licenses to standard 2012 if that is even possible? I don't think I can get a refund on the media.

Contact your server vendor to see if they support 2012 R2 on the platform you are working with.  They are the ones who determine what firmware/drivers get released for what versions of the operating system.
"R2 2012 and using them for R2 does not work as it just rejects them or says no new device drivers were found."
Are you trying to load them during the installation process when it gives you the option to load drivers?  I've never seen a 'no new device drivers were found' message at that point because you are specifically telling it which driver to use.
Yes, the license for a retail copy of the operating system contains downgrade rights.  However, activation keys are different.  You may have to contact Microsoft or the vendor from whom you purchased your copy to obtain a 2012 activation key.

    Hi Tamekia,
I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.
Level-three uninstall, and register the Windows Installer Service
Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.
    Hope this helps.

  • MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000 -- will not install on Windows 7

MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000 -- will not install on Windows 7  in compatibility mode or any other way. I receive error " can not open \device\memory" and then " This program can not run on his hardware.
Thinkcenter E series 8291-ETU --- upgraded from XP to Windows 7 yesterday.
Any ideas on how to get this product installed in Windows 7 ?

I recently did a clean install of Win7 Ult on my X61 7676A24, and this is the only Lenovo software that I could not find a Win 7 solution for. However,
    1. I was able to load WinDVD8 upgrade (from Lenovo's Win7 information page) after first loading the WinDVD5 version that was the last good release for Vista.
    2. The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is basically Roxio's suite for writing cd/dvd's, drag to disc and so on.
Since I could not load this anyway, I was forced to try out Win7's inbuilt cd/dvd writing - it works perfectly well.  Even better, Win7 natively supports an excellent ISO burning tool. So, I think if you explore these inbuilt tools, you can probably live without the Mul Cent for Think Off.

  • Why is it that directory server and IAS will not install through a remote Terminal Services session??

    Hi,
I think this can be done in Unix, using telnet, you may log into the

  • Operating system. We have Premier Pro CS6 and 32-bit Windows 7. It will not install

    Dell Laptop Latitude 6420
    Windows 7 Professional
    8GB Ram
A user in Public Relations needs to use Adobe Premier Pro CS6. However when we tried to install it the program is grayed out and has a caution icon. If I hover over it there is a message that says it prefers 64-bit. Prefers does not mean will not work in my opinion. However it will not install.
I read that Premier Pro is 64-bit only on another web site. Is this true? There has to be a solution.
On the Adobe site I saw that installing CS4 Premier was the work around but you have to purchase a license key. We have already purchased Premier Pro and do not have money in the budget to purchase an older product when this one should work.
Please help. I am under a lot of pressure to resolve this

Premiere Pro CS6 is 64 bit software and will only install on a 64 bit computer. There is no way around that.

  • Apps will not install or update after ios 8 installation

Apps will not install or update after ios8 installation

The solution that worked for me was to identify the apps that were stuck updating, and then find them on my iPhone.  (You can't search for them, you have to find their icon on your iPhone's desktop.)  Then I deleted those apps.  Then I went back to the App store, and they downloaded/updated like normal.  I did the same thing for the same problem on my iPad, and that also worked.
    Best of luck to everyone.

  • Security Update 2012-001 Will Not Install

When I try runnng Software Update to install Security Update 2012-001 I get "An unexpected error has occured." at the end of the installation process.  I tried downloading the standalone installer but that fails too.

I tried an re-install of 10.6 from my system disk and upgrading that.  The combo update fails too.
I tried wiping the partition and doing a complete restore from a Time Machine backup.  Still same error.
When I have time I could try wiping the parition, reinstalling 10.6 and using Migration Assistant instead of a straight restore.
One more thing.  I installed a Boot Camp partition about a month ago.  Could that have something to do with this?
    Thanks.
Possible some  corruption occured to the MBR section of your GPT,  boot sector virus on Windows?
Bad Bootcamp updated the GPT wrong perhaps?
Could be OS X on TM is hosed too, can't trust that then.
Fresh install it is then, cures all ills. Follow on.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, use Disk Utility there to select your entire internal drive on the far left (you got backups right? because all is going bye bye including Windows)
Next chose Erase and Security option Zero All Data, come back after lunch. this will check the drive really good for bad bits/sectors, takes a bit of time though.
Next chose Partiton and Option: GUID, format OS X Extended (J) and give it the same name, click apply. This will rebuilt the GPT in case it was corrupted.
Install 10.6, reboot and update to 10.6.8., c boot off the 10.6 disk and Repair Disk just in case.
Prefereably you should clone your pristine 10.6.8 install first to a blank external drive, you can always option boot off of it.
    http://www.bombich.com/get_ready_for_lion.html
You can then  try restore from TM or just go ahead and install programs from fresh sources and just use Migration Assistant to bring your user back.
If your problems continue after migration assistant, then option boot and reverse clone. how to cherry pick your files off a corrupt TM drive is no easy matter, may need DataRescue $99.
Far as cloning Windows bootcamp later when you reinstall it, you need the free WinClone on Macupdate.com.
you should be fully armed now.
    Good Luck.

  • Server 2008 SP2 will not install Windows Updates

    I receive this error:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8000ffff: Security Update for Windows Server 2008 (KB2653956).
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8000ffff: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Server 2008 (KB2675157).
These are two separate attempts to install the two updates listed.  The first time it failed on the IE9 update so I unselected it and tried the other with the error above.  This has been going on for quite some time.  At first it would install
some updates and not others and now it won't install anything.
I have Symantec Endpoint Protection installed, version 11, and the definition files are up to date.  I ran Malwarebytes and it found nothing.
I read a post about a hotfix called System Updates Readiness Tool but my error (0x8000ffff) was not listed as one of the errors and I hesitate to install it.
I am way behind on updates and really need to get this fixed, obviously.  If anyone has ideas, I would like to hear them.  I have not found anything online that is specific to my situation.
    thanks

KB2675157 (MS12-023) is a superseded and EXPIRED update and isn't going to install anywhere at anytime. It's been superseded -18- times since it's original release. You should have KB2809289 (MS14-012 -- released this month) approved/installed for IE9
    on WS2008 systems.
KB2653956 (MS12-024) is from April, 2012, and should have been installed EONS ago (but it has been revised a couple of times, so make sure that you have Revision 103 approved and not an earlier revision).
If the CURRENT updates are failing, then YES, you should download and run the current version of the System Update Readiness Tool from the Microsoft Download Center and implement any remediations recommended by that tool.

    nmuleski,
Your running into driver issues on this virtual machine because SignalExpress is basically just a GUI for the hardware drivers. Your users wouldn't be able to get SignalExpress to work on a Virtual Machine because the hardware layer communication can't be passed through. If your users need to use SignalExpress they will have to install it locally on their machines.

  • CCMSetup.exe - Will not install the ConfigMgr 2012 R2 CU3 Client Agent. Logs Listed.

I have been diagnosing a few ConfigMgr logs and I discovered a few things that sparked my interest like "Reseting the WMI Repository", "Checking the WMI Namespace", and "CCMClean.exe Tool and Re-run CCMSetup.exe".
None of the above had any effect on the client's workstation. So, I figured that if I can't figure it out, I will find a MVP or ConfigMgr Admin who has remediated this issue.

If you can help me solve this issue, you would be much appreciated. :)

The FSP error is showing because our "ConfigMgr Engineers" said we didn't need it enabled. So we have our clients looking for a FSP that isn't even enabled on the ConfigMgr server.
Yes, that's not the point though. ccmsetup will try to send a message to the FSP after a failure and the thing that happens, as mentioned, right before it tried to send a message is to update the security on the ccmsetup folder which implies something went
wrong when it tried to do this.
Have you disabled your AV or other local products that may interfere with local security?

  • Windows 8.1 64bit will not install on Bootcamp partion

Hey guys so i use bootcamp to install and partion the hard and then get onto the windows 8.1 installer. Everything goes well till i get to the hard drive point were i format the BOOTCAMP hard drive. it still has the error at the bottom saying
" Windows Cannont be instaled onto this disk. The Selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systeams, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. Windows cannon be installed to this disk.
The computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOS menu."
