Windows Server 2012 R2 Will Support for UEFI boot in WDS.

Hi
Currently we had issue in WDS while deploying the image via UEFI boot in the DELL Optiplex 3010. We already deployed the Windows 8 install image and boot image in the Windows Server 2012 R2. After selecting the Network boot its show Start PXE IPV4 and it
will immediately flicker and get back to Network Boot option. Any one please help me out of this.....
But the same is working in Legacy boot and it doesn't activate the Windows 8.

Hi,
As I cannot confirm the exact settings on your side, please see the suggestions provided in following thread:

does windows server 2012 foundation ed. support sharepoint?

Based on the feature set, yeah it would support SharePoint 2010, but I wouldn't recommend it. Server 2012 Foundation must be a Domain Controller or in a Workgroup, neither of which are good scenarios for a SharePoint installation.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 will not install when Server 2012 non-R2 installs fine.

Our company has several Windows Server 2012 servers that installed and work without issues. However, we purchased several Server 2012 R2 licenses to install on the exact same hardware, and at the very beginning of the install process it does not recognize
any of the hard drives, and cannot continue with the install. I have put the drivers that the non-R2 servers use on a flash drive, and tried to use those drivers during the R2 installs, but none work. This is extremely frustrating, and I want to know what
my options are? Is it a signed driver issue? Can I disable signed driver checks before installing R2? Thanks for any help.
P.S. I will even consider downgrading the Server 2012 R2 licenses to standard 2012 if that is even possible? I don't think I can get a refund on the media.

Contact your server vendor to see if they support 2012 R2 on the platform you are working with.  They are the ones who determine what firmware/drivers get released for what versions of the operating system.
"R2 2012 and using them for R2 does not work as it just rejects them or says no new device drivers were found."
Are you trying to load them during the installation process when it gives you the option to load drivers?  I've never seen a 'no new device drivers were found' message at that point because you are specifically telling it which driver to use.
Yes, the license for a retail copy of the operating system contains downgrade rights.  However, activation keys are different.  You may have to contact Microsoft or the vendor from whom you purchased your copy to obtain a 2012 activation key.

  • Windows Server 2012 CA will not allow Windows XP to autoenroll

I have a Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller with an Enterprise root CA installed.  I have created a client authentication certificate template (2003 compatible).  Domain Computers have Read, Enroll and Autoenroll permissions.  I modified
the Domain Policy to enable Certificate autoenrollment.  I have two clients on the same subnet with the domain controller, one Windows 7 Ent SP1 and one Windows XP SP3.  The problem:  Windows 7 reboots, has client auth cert installed in computer's
personal cert store.  The Windows XP machine cannot acquire the certificate.  Event ID 13, source is AutoEnrollment, 0x80094011,The permissions on this certification authority do not allow the current user to enroll for certificates.  Both machines
belong to the domain.  Running gpudate /force on the XP machine generates an info event stating that the computer security policy has be applied successfully, then the autoenrollment error.  I've setup autoenrollment dozens of times without any
problems.  The only thing different in this environment is that the CA is installed on Server 2012.  I could be something else, but the only real difference is Server 2012.  There are no errors on the server.  It is like the client just
cannot talk to the server at all, but it's getting its policy from that server.
    Any ideas?

    What works differently?
    Windows XP clients
will not be compatible with this higher security setting enabled by
default on a Windows Server 2012 CA. If necessary, you can lower the
    security setting as previously described.
    Try run this command:
    certutil -setreg CA\InterfaceFlags +IF_ENFORCEENCRYPTICERTREQUEST
    Restart the certification authority
    net stop certsvc
    net start certsvc
    INFO FROM LINK:
What value does this change add?
    The CA
enforces enhanced security in the requests that are sent to it. This
higher security level requires that the packets requesting a certificate
are encrypted, so they cannot be intercepted and read. Without this
setting enabled, anyone with access to the network can read packets sent
to and from the CA using a network analyzer. This means that
information could be exposed that might be considered a privacy
violation, such as the names of requesting users or machines, the types
of certificates for which they are enrolling, the public keys involved,
and so on. Within a forest or domain, leaking these data may not be a
concern for most organizations. However, if attackers gain access to the
network traffic, internal company structure and activity could be
gleaned, which could be used for more targeted social engineering or
    phishing attacks.

  • Windows Server 2012 The licensing mode for the Remote Desktop Session Host server is not configured

    Hi
I have a standard Windows Server 2012 that is hosted in the cloud by a hosting provider -
This server has been up and running fir 6 months - recently we have been getting a warning
"The licensing mode for the Remote Desktop Session Host server is not configured" - The Remote Desktop Session Host server is within its grace period, but the RD Session Host server has not been configured with any license server.
Yet, we only use this with 2 connections as part of the standard licence agreement and this server is not used as a user's desktop only an ftp and web server- do therefore we do not need to purchase any cal licences (we have another server with the same
hosting company that does not have this issue and has been up for 18months)
Please can someone advise how I resolve this issue, the hosting company states that I must resolve it as they only host and resell the server licence
    Thank-you
    Richard Steele

    Hi Richard,
You need to uninstall Remote desktop session host feature. After removing it, you will default two connections which does not need to purchase RD CALs'.
    Thanks,

  • Get server with Windows Server 2012 R2 or wait for Windows Server "10"?

We are looking to get a new server this year but with Windows 10 coming out shortly/this year, wouldnt it be better to wait until Windows Server "10" is released THEN get the server?
    Thank you

  • Where do I download a Windows Server 2012 R2 .iso from, for use with Hyper-v?

    Hello,
Where do I download a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard .iso from, for use with Hyper-v?
The only official download I can find is the evaluation version from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2012-r2
Is it recommended to use the evaluation version and then license it to make it a full version, or is there a better official download?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Brian,
I don't personally have an MSDN subscription.
So using the evaluation versions is ok?
With a Windows Server 2012 R2 license, you can have two
    Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual
machines, so I assume I can turn evaluation version VMs into full fledged servers?
    Thanks

  • Windows Server 2012 Standard - OS licensing for physical servers

    Hi,
With Windows Server 2012 Standard, I can install the OS on up to two virtual machines.
For physical machines, how many physical servers can I install the OS on if I don't use any VMs?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Just to add, each license covers up to two physical processors. If you have more than two physical processors in a server, you need to assign additional licenses for it.

  • Adobe Reader XI Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS Support

    Hi all
Is the Adobe Reader XI on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Session Host supportet?
    Thanks a lot

I'm assuming that you are looking for the place inside the GUI to start Remote Control of a usersession. On Windows Server 2008 R2 you could just right-click a user inside Task Manager and launch Remote Control. With Windows Server 2012
R2 Remote Control has been moved and is now part of the mstsc.exe. There are two ways to launch a Remote Control, either from the Server Manager GUI or using the commandline. I'm specifically referring to R2 because shadowing was not available
in Windows Server 2012, and got reintroduced (and improved) in Windows Server 2012 R2.
For all the options check out this blog post:

  • Exchange server 2013 Standard will support for Exchange cal Enterprise???

    Hi,
We have Purchased Exchange Server 2013 STD Edition and Exchange server CALs are Enterprise.
    is it compatable for this...
can u give reply for this...

    Hello Sashys,
    Here’s full explanation:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/microsoft-exchange-server-licensing-licensing-overview-FX103746915.aspx. You should have at least standard CAL for each of your users. Enterprise CAL's are an add-on to the standard license, that provides additional
features. Moreover both types of CAL's can be used with either Exchange server 2013 Standard or Exchange server Enterprise.
    Hope it helps,

  • RelayState parameter is full support with ADFS in Windows Server 2012?

We have implement Single Sign-On with ADFS. (Service Provider - salesforce.com , identity provider - ADFS). When we authenticate with ADFS it will
authenticate successfully, but it will redirected to salesforce full site instead of mobile site. Salesforce document mentioned that we need to handle RelayState parameter on ADFS. And I saw some article mentioned that 'RelayState' parameter is not fully support

  • Support for SharePoint Foundation 2010 on Windows Server 2012 R2

I have located an article that states that SharePoint Server
2010 is supported on Windows Server 2012 R2.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2724471
However, I deal with a large number of farms that are based on Foundation.  Honestly, I interpreted this article to mean both Server and Foundation were supported, but I'm receiving some resistance from consumers because there is no definitive statement
of support from Microsoft re: Foundation and the R2 o/s.
Does anyone know definitively whether foundation 2010 is supported on 2012 R2 or not?  And more importantly, is there some article on the subject I can reference? (I've searched without success).
I suppose the conservative approach would be to assume it is NOT supported unless I can find information to the contrary.

I think there need to be other considerations than "because it sounds good" (which is what the 2012 R2 decision almost sounds like it boils down to). Rather, the consideration should be made of what best supports the application, what version of the OS is
widely used and known, what happens when we encounter new issues due to using a newer OS that is less used with this application?
At least, that would be my argument. Same reason I would not deploy SharePoint 2013 to 2012 R2 when support arrives with SP1 -- 2013 with Server 2012 is a well known combination with many resources available for non-paid support.

  • Multi-Hypervisior Manager support for Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
I am attempting to connect to a Windows Server 2012 R2  Hyper-V and am getting the following error message.
"Unable to Connect to host hyper01"
I have tested and can connect to a Windows Server 2012 without issue.  Checking the documentation for support and whilst Windows Server 2012 is not supported I wanted to ensure I wasn't making an error.
If it is indeed not supported at this moment, is there a viable alternative?
    Many Thanks

  • Windows Server 2012 Essentials not listed in EasyStartup 3.8.1d for TS140

Recently purchased a TS140 (70A4 001RUS). Came factory installed RAID 1 with Windows Server 2012 Essentials pre-installed. Needed to reinstall, however:
    - Windows Server 2012 Essentials does not show up in EasyStartup 3.8.1c DVD that came with server
    - Downloaded latest EasyStartup 3.8.1d and created bootable DVD and ran with same result
    - "Windows Server 2012" is listed (but not Essentials). Running this installation, it does not recognize the Windows Server 2012 Essentials External Recovery DVD that came with server. Continually asks to insert "Windows Server 2012" disk.
    - "Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials" is listed (but not 2012 Essentials). Running this installation, it does not recognize the Windows Server 2012 Essentials External Recovery DVD that came with server. Continually asks to insert "Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials" disk.
    - Have booted using UEFI, Legacy and Auto with no difference
    - Ran lastest Firmware Updater v1.8.1013 - no updates listed as required
    - Have updated BIOS to latest 70A
    - Server will also not boot directly from Windows Server 2012 Essentials External Recovery DVD (dvd is set 1st in boot order in bios)
    - Windows Server 2012 Essentials External Recovery DVD is readable on other machines - can copy to bootable USB key and run regular Windows installation on server (this is current workaround)
    - using the above workaround, drivers must be installed manually.
    - EasyStartup 3.8.1d Readme specificly lists Windows Server 2012 Essentials as supported on the TS140 in UEFI and Legacy mode here
As mentioned, the above workaround can work. However, this server may not always be maintained by myself and I would prefer the supplied software to acutally work properly for ease of use by others in the future.

I have several TS140s running WSE 2012 R2.  Like you said, the easystart does not recognize properly the WSE R2 os, so I just did the basic from disc or USB install after I configured the boot drives or RAID1 array.
The main reason to load the easy start is for drivers, however WSE found and recognized all the hardware in the unit.
