Windows services' list does'nt contain RAS service

Hi,
I installed Crystal Reports Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) with IIS7, but Crystal Report Application Server service does not appear in Services' list (but exec. program exists: C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\crystalras.exe).
We have .NET web application that uses RAS for open ReportClientDocument.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.
Peter

I can't see even CMC:)
During installation of CRS2008, Tomcat was not installed...I have IIS7, so I choosed Other. I know CMC and InfoView component can't be installed on IIS. May it be problem that I didnt install CMC? I need it for RAS service working?
Thanks for Your replay.

  • Does client container provides JNDI services?

I'm confused in a client side JNDI lookup question. A requirement to me is to obtian ConnectionFactory from JNDI and connect to a EIS via client-side Resource Adapter, but on my client side, the JNDI string is java:comp/env/eis/local/ABC. I'm wondering does client container provides JNDI services? I'm a newbie on this, so any help will be apreciated. Thanks!
    [email protected]

I am just pasting some contents regarding this. This may solve ur doubt
Obtaining the InitialContext Using the Client's Environment
The properties can be initialized in the client's environment, thus avoiding the need to hardcode the values for these properties inside the client's code. To do this, the following environment variables must be set. If any of the properties isn't set, its default value (if any) is assumed:
java.naming.factory.initial? Provides the value for Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY
java.naming.provider.url? Provides the value for Context.PROVIDER_URL
java.naming.security.principal? Provides the value for Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL
java.naming.security.credentials? Provides the value for Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS
These properties may be set in the Java runtime's system properties, or in cases of an applet, in the applet's parameter list.
Another way of setting these properties in the JNDI environment is by the use of resource files. A resource file is a flat file containing key-value pairs that define the JNDI's environment. The keys are the different properties that have been discussed in this section. This file should be named jndi.properties and should be available in the application's class path. In addition to this, JNDI also looks for the jndi.properties file under the lib/ subdirectory under java.home. All the readable resource files are loaded into the application's environment. In most cases, if the same property is defined in different resources, the first value found is used. In a few other cases, where it makes sense, the values found in the different resource files are concatenated.
After these properties have been set, you can initialize the InitialContext simply by invoking its default constructor:
    Context ctx = new InitialContext() ;
You can find this example in ch08/com/wlsunleashed/jndi/Example2.java. This example obtains the InitialContext object from the WebLogic Server and tries to looks up javax.transaction.UserTransaction. To execute this example, start the WebLogic Server instance in your local host, listen in port 7001, and execute the corresponding class. Pass in the different fields discussed in this section as command-line parameters. For example, you can execute the class file using the following command line:
    C:> java -Djava.naming.factory.initial=
    weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory
    -Djava.naming.provider.url=t3://localhost:7001
    com.wlsunleashed.jndi.Example2
Experiment with this example a little more by creating a jndi.properties file and putting it in your classpath. Now execute this class without the command-line arguments. You'll get the same results. Perform the test again, but this time provide the command-line arguments along with the jndi.properties file. Make the port number in the command line incorrect. You'll notice that the value provided in the command line is used, and the class file errors out. It's quite easy to notice that the command line gets precedence over the jndi.properties file.

  • Windows Service (SMB) does not start automatically

I have a client with an Xserve G5 running 10.4.8 with all software updates applied. Recently, the client decided to buy a new Ricoh multi-function printer, copier, fax machine. We've configured a share point on the server that the Ricoh uses to deposit the incoming faxes and scans. It works fine, but the downside is that it only works over SMB or FTP. I went with SMB (Windows Sharing) because of Apple's flakey implementation of FTP over the years.
The problem is that when the server gets rebooted -- due to power outtage, software update, whatever -- the Windows sharing does not turn itself on like all of the services do. I have to go into Server Admin and turn on Windows sharing manually.
Is there any way to get the Windows Sharing to turn on automatically at boot up like all of the other services do?

I had the exact same problem after applying the 10.4.8 combo update. This thread solved my problem:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2962778&#2962778
In short, I had to disable the "Workgroup Master Browser" setting in Server Admin > Windows Service > Settings > Advanced. This is enabled by default, by the way.

  • SAP Web Dispatcher does not start as windows service

    Hi,
I have successfully installed and configured SAP Web Dispatcher. When I start the web dispatcher from command prompt, it works fine. I created a windows service for web dispatcher using the command
    ntscmgr install sapwebdisp -b "c:\program files\sap\sapwebdisp\sapwebdisp.exe"
    -p "service pf=sapwebdisp.pfl -cleanup -auto_restart"
The command successfully created sapwebdisp service. The service also starts fine, but web dispatcher does not get started.
    Any ideas experts?

    Hi,
    Ok. Few suggestions.
    1. Can you review the SAP note:
552286  Troubleshooting for the SAP Web Dispatcher
    2. When you said: "web dispatcher does not get started ", what error you got ? Can you be more details here ?
    3. Please check the trace file dev_webdisp" that generated in the work directory. If the log entries is not abvious, increase the trace level to 2 or 3, and reproduce and re-check the trace file.
    4. What is the output of the command "sapwebdisp -v"
    5. How about sapwebdisp.pfl ? Are those settings correct ?
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows service does not startup an instance

In a number of occasions, a Windows service i.e. OracleServiceXYZ (which is set to automatically start instance XYZ) fails to do so and I have to start it manually. The problem is resolved temporarily with ORADIM (i.e. delete and redefine the Windows service) and it all works well until for some unknown reason, one day we bounce the server and the Oracle service does not start (MEMORY REALM DOES NOT EXIST). Am I the only one who is having problems with this?.

No, you're not the only one.
I'm searching for an explanation for this problem too.
One more detail: in all cases we have tracked down, the same machine had 2 instances to start. From time to time only one of them starts, the other fails.
The most I can tell is that the windows event log shows a connect attempt of / without SYSDBA priviledges at reboot time.
It seems that the windows service is trying to start the instance with the wrong connect string from time to time, and of course it fails.
Even stranger is that if you restart the service (which was configured with auto-start at ORADIM) the instance will start normally... very strange.
Please post any solution or info you get on this subject, I'm thinking of submiting a TAR for this.

  • Weblogic Startup Class does not run as Windows Service

If you know the answer, plase send me an email at [email protected]
I'm running a weblogic startup class that starts a Thread. I need to
run a batch program that should be running as long as WebLogic is
    running (to process new orders).
It works fine when I run WebLogic (5.1 SP8) from a script, but causes
problem when I'm running it as a Windows Service. It calls the
startup class, however, the startup class never spawns the Thread
    class.

  • Windows service Hyperion S9 BI+ 9.3 Core Services does not stop 100%

    Hi there,
we run core and interactive reporting on a win2003 box and run them with windows servcies.
Most of the times when I stop the "Hyperion S9 BI+ 9.3 Core Services" windows service it does not stop completely.
In the windows taskmanager I see java.exe and rmservice8.exe still running.
I have to kill those processes manualy to stop core completely.
Is there a reason or a cause for this behaviour?
And does anyone know -if this behaviour cant be avoided - how I command line driven stop the processes which still run?

Sorry I seem to have posted into the wrong forum.

  • How does windows service start oracle?

    Hi,
I am running 10gR2 on Windows XP SP 2
does anyone know what does actually happen when I go to
Start->Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and
    start OracleServiceORCL ?
    Is it:
    startup nomount ?
    startup mount ?
    startup open ?
    startup force ?
    Thanks

Also check the registry parameter ORA_<SID>_AUTOSTART under HKLM\software\oracle\HomeXX. If set to FALSE, when windows service starts, the instance is NOT started.

  • Does any windows service affects the device driver wake up time?

Is it possible for a windows service running on Win 8.1 (64 bit) to delay the wake up time of any device driver?
One possibility could be where the driver has any dependency on any other driver/service.
In this case, I checked the driver's INF file and there is no dependency section.
The driver start up type is service_demand_start and driver type is kernel driver.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Are you asking if a service can impact when the driver is started or when it is woken up after hibernation?  For a demand start driver they start when they are needed so depending on the driver yes it could only be started after the service does an
action.  You have eliminated the dependency section, but is the driver for actual hardware?  If yes then it is highly unlikely the service can impact it.  If no, then the service could be the starting it with StartService, or forcing its enumeration
    and starting.
If you are talking the hibernation case, no there is impact.

  • Windows Service does not start automatically

    Hi
I have a .NET 4.5 C# windows service, StartType set to automatic. It is running fine in server.
Few days ago, my server has windows update, including security update for .NET framework 4.5.1. Server auto restarted.
However, my service is not started.
By referring to eventlog, it shown as below sequence
    1. Explorer initiated restart - Shutdown type - restart
    2. Sql Server Service is stopped successully
    3. My Service is stopped successully
    -- Server restarted
    4. Sql Server Service is in running state
    5. My Service is stopped successully
Question is, why my service is stopped instead of running/started? I checked event log and my app log, no error at all.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

I was thinking to set "SQL Server", but I am not sure what is the service name for the SQL service name.
Anyway to specify like "SQL Server *" ?
    thank you
The default instance service name is MSSQLSERVER, and MSSQL$[name] for a named instance. If you're not sure what the instance is, you could check the services.msc or the registry value in this registry hive:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\InstalledInstances

  • Weblogic Server does not show managed server started when I used the Windows service to start it.

I created a windows service to start a managed server and the services was created successfully and stated.  WHen I go to the Weblogic Server Admn console, the server is still showing shutdown.  Whenm I try to start it, it returns with error that the the service is not able to start.  Has anyone ran into anything similar.  I am running on Windows Server 2008R2 and running Weblogic Server 10.3.6 and Fusion Middleware 11.1.6.

  • Windows service does not stop when DB is shutdown from SQL*Plus

    I have a 11g XE DB in a Windows 7 machine.
The installation has created a Windows service called OracleServiceXE. It's status is STARTED.
    I then login to SQLPLUS as sysdba and do a shutdown immediate;
    SQL> shutdown immediate
    Database closed.
    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.
Problem is, when I refresh the services, the OracleServiceXE is still showing as STARTED.
If I use the listener control to stop the listener the Windows service OracleXETNSListener changes status to BLANK.
    Why is this?

    tvCa-Oracle wrote:
That service is a prerequisite Windows service to be able to start the database, but it is not the status of the database itself.
When you do start the database, he may or may not start the service automatically (not sure there), but it is a needed service, for each database SID, on Windows.
If you want to know what it is, open Task Manager or Process Explorer, only start the service (not the database), and see which OS process is launched.
AFAIK, this is only on Windows, there's no comparable component on Linux/Unix for this.
The Windows service OracleServiceXE has c:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin\ORACLE.EXE XE as the Parth to executable.
If I click on the Services tab in Task manager, then right-click the OracleServiceXE and click Go to process, it show the oracle.exe in the processes tab.
If stop it, the service, from the Windows service control, the oracle.exe disappears and we cannot login to the DB.
If we start the service from the windows service control, the oradim.exe appears, then a second later the oracle.exe appears. Once the DB status of the Windows service is STARTED, the oradim.exe disappears.
So, I can start and stop the oracle DB with the Windows service. But If I stop the DB from sql*plus the the service is not stopped....
