Windows still won't load

I posted last night, thank you to those who viewed but probably was not specific enough for anyone to reply.
I have now attempted countless times to install Windows without success. I have disconnected all peripherals and pulled the plug for 30 seconds as suggested in other threads still to no avail. I printed the recommended pdf for the Boot Camp Assistant and follow the pertinent instructions but the end result is always the same. The sequence is-
Select 32 gig or less for partition
Insert Windows disc
Windows Set Up is loading files
Windows Set Up is starting Windows
I arrive at the Windows XP Professional Set Up Window and select c:<Boot Camp> Fat32
Win XP Prof Set UP examines disc
Win XP Prof Set Up Copying files to Windows installation folders
brief message regarding configuration and machine restarts
brief flashing cursor then message "press any key to boot from Windows disc" which does nothing
arrive back at Windows Set Up which starts loading files again.
The second time I arrive at the Win Prof Set Up window I select quit and get an error message saying Windows is not set up properly.
Strangely enough the last two attempts I have had I have not encountered the window where one selects the format options for the partition.
I might be really dense and am missing the obvious or I might just be really dense. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it as it would have been cheaper to buy a standalone Windows machine rather than waste the time I have invested thus far.

Thanks for your input.
Yes, each time I have attempted to install Windows I have used Boot Camp Assistant to delete the non working partition. I have torn what little hair I have left out yet had another attempt last night.
It's very strange as it appears to go through install, configure, everything yet I always come back to the original screen "Set up is installing files", when I opt to quit thinking Windows has installed, I get an error message in red saying Windows is not installed and quitting etc...
After switching off and restarting the partition icon shows up in the Finder window as various things. Some times it has been called BOOT CAMP today it is called NO NAME,
Thanks again, I'm about to give up and just go buy a Dell laptop

  • Windows 7 won't load properly / possible HDD failure?

Well I will start off by saying I've been having problems with this since I've bought it.  It used to be under warranty and I had to ship it back twice, and I've had to do countless system recoveries but this time I'm at a loss.  My current problem started about 4 days ago.  I had skype downloaded, and my skype started freezing randomly, but only for 30 seconds to a minute, and then come right back to working.  Then this started happening more frequently, and then it got to the point to where it wasn't just skype that would freeze, it was my computer.  It must have only been explorer.exe that was freezing or something because my mouse still moved, and if I was in a skype call the skype call would work but I couldnt type or click on skype without it saying that it wasn't responding.  Then yesterday that problem upgraded again to nothing working very well.  My computer (again I can only assume it was explorer or something) would start up normally, and then once I got to my desktop the load light would come on my tower and freeze / slow down anything and everything.  Example was I had VLC media player open watching a show and the video would freeze for 2 to 5 minutes, play for 10 seconds, then freeze again.  Beforehand it was only slight lock ups, but then it became full blown lockups.  Once that load light came on it stayed on and never wavered and I would be forced to restart my computer to even give it a chance to run properly for a few minutes before this same problem would occur.  Yesterday however the problem upgraded once again, and my computer wouldn't even let me get to my desktop normally.  I was able to load into safemode with networking to try some solutions but nothing worked.  Then the hangup issue started occuring in safe mode as well, forcing me to restart again.  This is where it just keeps getting worse sadly.  My computer would get to the "Starting Windows" screen, sit there for a couple minutes, then maybe 1 out of 10 attempts it would get to the "Welcome" screen as if it was trying to load my desktop but never would load it, and on the other 9 attempts I didn't make it to the "Welcome" screen it just sat a black screen with the load light going and it would never do anything.  My mouse has never been frozen at any point so it's not a full on freeze situation, but something isn't right.  I did a sytem recovery last night, put it back once again to factory settings and it still locked up a little but nothing compared to how it had been.  I turned my pc off and went to sleep, and then this morning it did the usual not getting past the "starting windows" screen.  Sometimes it wouldn't even recognize my hard drive, giving me the old "insert media and boot from disc" or "No media found", I also got two errors, PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable, and the other message was PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.   Then after receiving those messages my computer would restart and give me the choice to hit a button to load from disk.  Throught the course of this problem I tried startup repairs, smart tests, anti viruses, nothing did anything to help.  So I decided once again it was going to be time for a system recovery, but now when I hit f11 to go into the system recovery options, all of it is blacked out.  I can't even click on system recovery anymore.  So at this point Windows 7 won't load at all, not even in safe mode, and I'm lucky to even be given the OPTION to start it in safe mode.  Half of the time it seems my computer doesnt even recognize my harddrive, and I can't even do a system recovery or repair tools, but the repair tools didn't really do anything anyway.  So I have no way to use that computer, and Im thinking it might be HDD failure but I'm not hearing any noises coming from it and my computer has always been a little slow so it's not like things have slowed down by a lot so I'm not so sure its my HDD but I have no idea what to do or where to start since I've exhausted all my of resources on trying to fix this issue myself.  I know this problem is probably way too vague to try to get an accurate idea of what is wrong, but I will check back now and then and answer any questions to the best of my ability (I'm not tech savy so if you need really fancy PC information you wil most likely need to tell me how to acquire said information).  I mean I guess if I have to I will get a new HDD, but that means I will most likely need to get a new OS, and I love windows 7 with all my heart and I don't want to upgrade at windows 8.  I feel like it's my OS but it could very well be anything at this point.

  • New iTunes update won't open.  First it said Apple Mobil Device failed to start.  So I Stopped then Started Apple Mobil Device.  Now iTunes still won't load.  Tells me MSVCR80.dll was not found.  Wants me to reinstall app.  Will I lose all my music?

Current iTunes update won't load.  Tells me MSVCR80.dll was not found.  Wants me to reboot.  If I reboot, will I lose my music?

    Hi DDay@55,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To resolve this error, I recommend completely removing and reinstalling iTunes and all of its related components using these steps:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
You can find the article with these steps and more information here:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
This process should not affect any music or content on your computer, but you may want to
back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • Satelite Pro A300 - Windows XP won't load

I fear that this may be due to a virus.
I was using the computer and a blue screen flashed up with white writing on it, it then switched intself of and now Windows won't load, not even in safe mode, or any of the other options. When I try to load in safe mode etc... it just comes up to the same page.
I can get in to the Boot section by pressing F12, but although I am computer literate, this is all absolutely new to me and I have no idea what to do next.
Has anyone got any ideas? Unfortunately I am outside of my warenty and would prefer to get the laptop up and running without spending a fortune at a repair shop.
    Thank you!

    Hello
If you have Microsoft Windows XP installation disc boot from it and try to use "Repair option".
I'm not 100% sure it will help but try it.
How to do this you can read on http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/138-how-to-repair-windows-xp/
Please let me know if this will help you.

  • Firefox updated yesterday and now it won't load any webpages. Have reviewed articles on this problem and checked everything. Still won't load. All other browsers work fine.

Have checked firewall and network settings and compared to other computers running firefox. All is ok, but firefox won't load any webpages. This started immediately after it updated yesterday. No error messages.
Have been having problems with updates on serveral of our computers for a month or so. Previous problems have always been that firefox renames a file it needs by adding moz.backup to the file name and I have to search for the file and remove it. This time I'm getting no error messages.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I've tried loading iTunes after restarts and re-installations but for some reason it won't load. I've never had this problem before and can't seem to solve it.
Any help would be much appreciated

    FIXED IT!!!
None of these suggestions worked for me. I've started fresh by re-installing iTunes and then holding the shift button whilst loading it. This enables you to pick a new library and from this, it works!!
A bit of a faf because now i have to get all the info off my phone and in to iTunes but at least it opens now!!
Boom! ha, I came for help from the apple geeks and it turns out I'm the geek!!

  • Firefox just won't start, but IE starts ok ~ I have uninstalled Firefox and downloaded Firefox and reinstalled, but still won't load ~ no error messages show

I have run Firefox with no problems for years, but all of a sudden the last 2 days it just won't load. IE and email works okay. I was able to download Firefox by using IE to get on the internet, but I just can't get Firefix to work. Have rebooted a number of times.

I am running XP/Pro SP3. Last Patch Tuesday I installed the latest Microsoft updates. Yesterday I updated Firefox from 3.6.11 to 3.6.12. Since then I have been unable to start Firefox.
Using the desktop icon, using the start menu icon, double clicking firefox.exe all do nothing - a slight flurry of activity and then nothing.
There are no reports in Event Viewer relating to Firefox.
As reported by another, Internet Explorer works.
I just installed 3.6.11 over top of 3.6.12 and Firefox works again.
Since I would rather have the security updates of 3.6.12, I hope you can get to the bottom of this soon.
    Thanks

  • Windows 7 won't load after installing new Hard Drive and Recovery software

    HP G72 Notebook PC
    xz218UAR
I guess a virus crashed my hard drive so I bought a new one.  I installed the new drive and loaded the recovery disks that I also bought from HP.  Apparently Windows didn't load properly and it keeps telling me to RELOAD WINDOWS.  I've tried starting over from Disk 1 but it's not doing anything different to fix it.
I removed the new hard drive and reinstalled it but it's still doing the same thing.
What am I doing wrong and HOW DO I FIX IT?

    Hi,
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
Assuming that this is just a problem with the Recovery process, there is a straight forward work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you don't have access to a retail disc, you can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers you may need can be found Here.

  • Windows XP won't load on K8N Master2-FAR after BIOS Flash

I downloaded the w9620nms.110 version BIOS from the MSI website and flashed the BIOS.  Since that time, Windows XP Pro will not load successfully.  I re-flashed to go back to the 1.00 version and even tried the 1.26 version I got from this site.  Each time it still didn't work.  I cleared the CMOS and retried.  Still no good.
I reformatted the windows partition on the HDD (nVidia RAID stripe) and reinstalled windows.  The installation seemed to go fine, but when the system tried to load Windows, it failed again.  Just keeps re-booting.
Is there some setting in the BIOS that got changed in the flash that I'm missing that effects this?  A setting that needs changing back (other than the SATA RAID which I've re-set and whish is recognized by windows and the BIOS).
Or, it is possible the RAID stripe was corrupted somehow?
The system worked for several months before the flash.
Any help on this is much appreciated!!

  • Resored envy dv6 notebook and windows 8 won't load i dont have the discs

I bought an HP envy dv6 notebook used with Windows 8.  The person I bought it from did not remove her password or fingerprint scan, I was unable to reach them (i bought it out of state).  I did some research and found the best thing to do was a complete system restore - which i followed the directions and did.  I do not have the original driver disc.
I am now in a contant loop where it comes up with the first password which I successfully changed but would like to remove.  When it starts to load the administrator it goes into a constant loop of Windows did not load properly. Restart the computer.  And I fo around and around,  I have tried everything I have found on here and many other sires and still I am unable to get it to work.
I have a Windows 7 disc but I am afraid to even try it since I was told that the reset to factory settings would work and it doesn't I do not want to do anymore damage.
I did notice that the born on date say 00/00/0000  I am not sure if that is part of the problem or not

  • WINDOWS XP2 WON'T LOAD - THE DREADED 39 MINUTES TO INSTALL THEN SHUTDOWN

I have within the last month purchased 6 identical 20" IMacs for the office all with Tiger OS. Five of them loaded Windows without any problems, but the sixth machine goes through the setup program, then reboots and shows a screen that there are 39 minutes left to install Windows, then it shuts down. I have uninstalled the Windows partition, reinstalled it choosing a different size (but always in NTFS format), reinstalled the operating system, tried a different Windows installation disk, copied the installation disk using the IMac, but still the problem persists. If I remove the CD Windows tells me that it is searching for the ASMS file. I have now just installed Leopard in the hope that it would resolve the issue, but it has not, the problem is still the same. I have seen mention on the Discussion Forum of using MacFuse and NTFS-3g to solve the problem, but my computing skills are not advanced enough to be able to implement these. Can anyone give me any further advice?

I do'nt know whether this help you but I recently installed a new drive in a friend's system.  I primed the drive using seagate's disk wizard; I remember when it had finished preparing drive it said do not insert O/S CD or floppy, wait for seagate logo on screen.  I think I must have ignored it because as soon as I got press any key to boot from CD I did and started lo load windows.  It copied files over to disc fine when it booted from hard drive to continue with installation I got the message you referred to "<root system>/system32/hal.dll is missing or corrupt."
After several attempts it dawned on me what I had done, so I allowed the seagate logo to load, then it prompted me to boot from floppy or CD.  I chose CD and commenced installation of XP, which was flawless after that.
Hope this helps.  If not, someone else might find it useful.
    Good luck Dave.

  • Windows 7 Won't load on MacBook Pro 17"

I am on my second day of trying to load Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of ram. I've tried installing on to an external hard drive and I have tried to install in using boot camp but I get the same error with both, Windows cannot be loaded because of drivers.I have been all over the web looking for intel drivers, chipsets, or any other drivers that might work with no luck. I've even loaded my OS X 10.6 disk in a windows machine and copied the drivers over to an external. I have had Windows XP using Boot Camp and refuse to go to Windows Vista. Any Advice would be great.

You have not provided, for me, anything to go by.
You can't install Windows on a Mac except with Boot Camp Assistant if you want to retain Mac OS.
You cannot install on external drives.
You can install Windows 7 only, take over the entire internal hard drive.
Boot Camp Assistant can fail or refuse to partition if there is not enough free contiguous (unfragmented) free space or if there are files that cannot be moved. In which case you may need to boot from another hard drive and buy iPartition and/or iDefrag; or, use Disk Utility and totally erase and restore from backups.
And most of that is in the Boot Camp PDF:
http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp - tech articles, how to, troubleshooting, and of course, the Guide in PDF format.

  • Windows 7 won't load and keeps restarting on my macbook pro?

So my windows 7 bootcamp works perfectly fine. But I downloaded something on windows 7 and it says it needs to restart. It restarted automatically and then it tries to load w7. The blinking "_" on top left shows and then it restarts itself again and again. And when I hold the option key, it just loads the macintosh partition which works fine.
Please help. Any ideas how to fix this?

  • After Lion upgrade Windows 7 won't load

I upgraded to OSX Lion and now I cannot load Windows 7.
When I press the option key to bring up the different OS's I have Macintosh, Windows, and now a new "Recovery" partition.
When I press on my Windows partition it goes as far as saying "Loading Windows" and then it stalls and goes no further.
The next time when I try to load Windows I will get a option menu asking if I want to try and repair Windows or load normally. If I try to repair Windows it again just stalls there.
Any suggestions?  This is a HUGE inconvenience.

Never a good idea to go for years with the same drive and new OS generations and not reformat to implement new changes in partitioning.
ALWAYS clone your system(s) before an upgrade.
Installing Lion on an external hard drive would have saved you.
Windows is now +1 partition ID.
Windows 8 RC will be out in a couple weeks for public for free.
    Asked on Parallels community....
Do you have latest Lion version of Parallels?
Try editing BCD with Windows DVD/CD.
No it is not an NTFS issue.
Lion added a new recovery partition that bumped Windows from #N to N + 1 is all.
Apple's GPT changed a number of times since 10.5.x too.
Bad sectors that occur on a drive can't be mapped out if they are part of the hidden partitions or without losing data (usually) and Lion uses and insures that features that were 'optional' or "for future use" were implemented and changed.
Windows SP sounds like Windows 7 SP1 or in your case I guess XP SP3 but isn't clear until you get to "upgrade to Wiindows 7" and yes I would upgrade to Windows 8 RC (free) or 7 64-bit System Builder ($99).
