Windows stream media player

hey - i'm developing a new joomla based site and i'd like to
have a custom flash media player embedded into the page that uses
the windows media player functions if possible, or easier that way.
my goal is to put a simple player on the page and the real
focus would be a "graphic equalizer" that would match the color
scheme and look like a part of the site. below that simple buttons
that would have start/stop/pause and volume. if i could "detach"
this player from the page that would be an added bonus. if i did
that then i'd also want current song title playing to stream
through as well.
how hard is this to do in flash? i have NO history of flash
development but can figure things out if given some good pointers.
would the EQ part be difficult to bounce to the music? change the
imagry to be other things as well other than the standard bar eq?
if it would be more difficult is there a good place to post
to ask for some dev help on this?
thanks in advance!

I'm wondering if you received a reply. Neither the Windows Media Player in Internet Explorer nor Safari will give me a live feed for more than 30 seconds to 1 minute and will then freeze. "Refreshing" the page doesn't provide a "live" response.

  • Streaming remotely with streaming media player

I have a Sony SMP-N200 Streaming Media Player and was wondering if it is in any way possible to connect it to a remote network/server. I thought it might be a good Christmas gift for someone to get them a media streamer and give them access to my extensive movie library, or simply have the ability to bring it with me when I leave town and conenct to home. I understand that most of these things only connect to home networks, but if it's so easy for PC's and smartphone to play my media anywhere, maybe there's a server software or app to download to the SMP-N200 which will allow this.

    Hi hizzoze,
SMPN200 Network Media Player cannot be setup as DLNA server. It is a DLNA renderer device. Information about DLNA device classes is mentioned on the below page:

I can't get Window's Media Player to "recognize" my new ipod shuffle.  Does anyone have a solution?  When I pull the ipod shuffle up in Devices and Printers, it says it needs Troubleshooting, but the Troubleshooting provides no solution.

Windows Media Player?  As far as I know, that won't work.  You need to install iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
That will install the software you need to use your shuffle with your computer.

I am trying to download window's media player. Hi calibant,
thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Was reading through your post and wondering if you've updated your table with the latest firmware available? You may want to compare firmwares with your friend as see if you have matching firmware. If it found to be same, I believe there maybe something internally causing this and you will have to seek the assistance of our service team.
Another thing I'd like to as if you downloaded another player are you facing the same issue? How about streaming video such as youtube? do you get the same results?
    Hope to hear back.

  • Classic 160 ipod / windows vista media player stops working

After I download itunes and Quiktime along with my ipod classic 160, my windows media player stops playing dvd's & cd's. Any fixes known. I've tried regedit using the register editor 3 times with no luck. Like the ipod but to uninstall itunes everytime I want to watch a dvd / listen to a cd, is a pain in the backside. Thanks for sharing. PS. I've contacted Gateway,Apple,Microsoft with no luck. Statements mostly heard are sorry can't help and to contact the others I previously typed. Pass the buck. wish I had bought the zune.

Try to remove the old (Npdsplay dll in the plugins list) WMP plugin in case that is used.
The embed for Firefox has autostart="1" not not autostart=false (0) like the object for IE.

  • Compatibility issues with 1st Ipod Nano and In Car Windows MP3 media player

I use a mac pro running 10.5.6 leopard. My new car has a Windows formatted media MP3 player with USB connector which doesn't read my 1st generation Ipod nano. I can load the music files onto a flash drive and play them in the car but without any of the functionality of an Ipod.
How can I load music files onto my Ipod and use it in my car without
resorting to loading Windows on my mac and reformatting my Ipod to PC? Is
there a crossover bit of software available? Are more recent nano's formatted for both Mac and PC? I have saved the IPod as a external hard disk and converted all music files to MP3 which is the MP3's accepted format. I'm also sure I have the latest software for the IPod. Any ideas? Cheers.

OK I am confused. You say your car stereo has a Windows formatted MP3 player? What does that mean exactly? That the car stereo can play MP3s off of mass storage devices plugged into its USB port?
I think if the above is what you meant, then you have two problems. One is that your car stereo likely reads FAT32 formatted storage devices (and possibly, but doubtfully, Windows NTFS formatted devices). Your iPod is likely formatted in Mac format which your stereo won't be able to read.
That can be overcome. Simply restore your ipod on a Windows machine to put it into Windows format then plug it back into your Mac and use it that way. Macs can read and sync to Windows formatted iPods just fine.
But the other problem is, your stereo may not be able to actually control an iPod directly. Does the instruction say it can? Therefore it would be looking on the storage of the iPod that shows up as Mass Storage for tracks, not on the hidden area where iTunes stashes music into and your iPod plays music from.

  • Creating a streaming media player to play .WMV

I am new to JMF and indeed Java itself. I've been going over the documentation for JMF and am a bit confused. Can some one please let me know if it is possible to stream Windows Media Videos using a JMF based player (I guess either by extending JMF through a plugin or otherwise)?
Your assistance is very much appreciated,.
    Thanks
    dare001

In my opinion, it's very hard... because, you will not find through web a plugin... (I think)..
I have one example : Me, I try to decode mpeg2 ts incoming stream and to play it... JMF does not support mpeg2 ts in theory (I think I am not wrong !).
I have downloaded codec/plugin so as to be able to decode it... but, I have not succeeded in programming it... But, maybe, my program is wrong, or my codec is not good...
So, I just would like to say that : to extend jmf is not very easy and you have no guarantee by advance that it will be ok.

  • Is there a Window's Media Player download compatible with the INTEL iMacs?

I tried downloading MWP for Mac OSX and the file name was Windows Media.sitx and I couldnt do anything with that. I also tried downloading Windows Media Components for quicktime but it said it wasnt compatible with intel Macs.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    iMac G5 Intel Core Duo, 1.83GHz, 1GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Although Microsoft no longer supports it, WMV9 for OSX works on the intel machine, running under Rosetta. That .sitx file you download can be uncompressed with the free Stuffit Expander for intel:
    http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/universalbeta.html
Or re-download the WM Player as a .bin file from MS directly:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/download/ misc/winmp_osx.xml&secid=80&ssid=8&flgnosysreq=True
Alternatively, you can download the Popwire components for intel Mac, which allow WMV files to play in native Quicktime (7.0.4 and below only) or Flip4Mac, which will do the same, although only by running your Quicktime Player in Rosetta, as F4M has not released a universal version as of yet.

  • I have tried to transfer files from my windows media player to my ipod but it saysthe device has stopped responding or stopped working.this is the first time ive connected nmy ipod to my new pc.any ideas?

I have tried to transfer music from my windows 7 media player to my ipod. This is the first time i have tried to use my ipod on my new computer .In the media player it doesnt give me the option to add to itunes library it just give me the option to send to my ipod and when i do this it says that the device has stopped responding or isnt working.Any ideas? coz i aint got the foggiest where i am going wrong. My ipod keeps telling me to update the software, but then will i lose the music thats already on my ipod?

You should import the music (that is listed in Windows Media Player) into your iTunes Library - on your computer - to add it to your existing iTunes Library. I take it you have moved (or copied) your music from the old computer to the new computer, haven't you?
Then Sync your iPod to that Library.
iPods will not respond to Windows Media Player, they're designed to connect to iTunes.

  • Windows Media Player not selecting custom audio renderer filter on Windows 7 (works with graphedit)

    Hi there,
I have custom directshow audio renderer filter derived from CBaseRenderer base class and implements IBasicAudio interface.
Filter works fine with graphedit and media player classic, I am able to receive audio data. But when I try to play file using Windows Media Player, filter gets callback in completeconnect followed by breakconnect and then its discarded.
Things I have tried so far --
Implement IBasicAudio interface, still fails with WMP
Modify audio renderer filter to connect with video decoder, it works fine with WMP and I can get dump of raw video data
Implement IReferenceClock interface, still fails with WMP
Implement this filter using CBaseFilter as base class, still same outcome, CompleteConnect on receive pin followed by BreakConnect and filter is discarded
It seems that Windows Media Player is looking for some specific interface that I might have not implemented or is picky for audio renderer. I found similar issue at https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/windowsdesktop/en-us/6e5985fb-3ca2-41b3-9a99-7a9b97ae7357/directshow-filter-stopped-working-in-windows-7-media-player.
    But it seems unresolved.
Please help, am stuck on this issue for 3 days without any luck. Any clues on this is appreciated.
    Thank you.
    -- Shobhit

    Thanks for the reply Roman.
Most of QuerryInterface calls received in NonDelegatingQuerryInterface callback inside filter are same as that for greaphedit.
From http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mediasdkstuff/archive/2008/09/19/custom-directshow-audio-renderer-hangs-playback-in-windows-media-player-11.aspx, it seems that WMP on Windows 7 uses preferred list of filters using IAMPluginControl that cannot be modified
    by 3rd party.
There has to be some workaround for this that am trying to figure out. Any clues on this?
    Thanks,
    Shobhit
