Windows support software in bootcamp

Help! Windows support software is taking hours to download and won't progress. What do I do?

I used a 1GB USB-Stick and about 700MB were used.
Make sure that USB-Stcik uses MBR as partition scheme and FAT32 (MS-DOS in OSX Disk Utility) as file system.

I'm getting a similar but distinct error message in snow leopard: Download could not continue. "The windows support software is not available" and have no original snow leopard instal disc with me.
Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

  • Where i can get the windows support software for bootcamp?

lost my mac os x installation disk and need the windows support software for bootcamp. have a 17" mac book pro bought 08/2010... where i can get it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You'll have to purchase another copy of the OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard' disc, because that disc is the only source of Boot Camp 3.0 drivers.
The Boot Camp 3.1 and Boot Camp 3.2 drivers and some recent machine-specific updates are available online from Apple here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#Boot%20Camp

  • Windows support software for bootcamp 5.1.2

Hey guys, I just finished installing windows 8.1 for my mac (MacBook Pro mid 2012). I realised that keyboards function aren't working (sound, light, etc.) and no wifi. It's because I do not have the driver install. The problem is, I cannot find windows support software for bootcamp 5.1.2 at all. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!

Boot Camp Assistant gives you an option to download support software during initial setup. If you have skipped this step, you can try with this download: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1720?locale=en_GB
If that won't work for you, you might have to remove Boot Camp partition and setup all over again.

  • Can Windows 8 Consumwe Preview run the Windows Support Software from Bootcamp?

    Hi guys,
I was wanting to install Windows for a long time for gaming compatibility (No other need for that rubbish) and I didn't want to buy Windows 7 so I thought maybe I could run the Windows 8 Consumer Preview instead as it is free (and probably a little bit more tolerable). But then I thought can it run the Windows Support Software from Bootcamp?
Please can you answer my question,
    Many Thanks,
    Louis Attfield

You really want to look at other threads. Not knowing what Mac all I can see is most things work the same or better but a few mostly minor won't.
Why not download burn and try and then tell us? one tip: the burn needs to be slowest reduced burn speed.
GPU and audio drivers you have to (Windows 7 also) uninstall Apple's and then install a proper driver.
Rubbish. Usually I just pass when I hear that word.

  • Cant find "windows support software" for bootcamp

I am trying to restart bootcamp. I keep getting stuck by no windows support software.
    any though?

    Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
The OSX Snow Leopard Install DVD that came with your Mac includes the BootCamp Driver for installation after you have installed Windows.
Once installed you can then update the Drivers (versions 3.1 and 3.2) which can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Refer to the BootCamp Install Guide inside the BootCamp Assistant

  • Can not download Windows Support Software on Bootcamp 5.0

    Hi guys,
I'm running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and Bootcamp 5.0.
Recently bought Windows 7 Home Prof. and installed it already via Bootcamp.
All nice and well so far
Only when I'm trying to download the windows support software it starts with the download, but somewhere in the
middle of it stops and comes up with the message that it could not download the file.
I have tested my internet connection and it runs as usual.
    My questions are:
    1. Is there another place I can get windows support software for Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and download it manually?
    2. What's causing my problem?
    3. Is it possible to downgrade to an earlier bootcamp version if that solves the issue?
Thank you & looking forward to your ideas.!

I have the same situation, very frustrating. When I go to download the support software it stalls with the insallation bar at about 20% complete, then nothing, 20 minutes of nothing moving!
I quit after 20 minutes. What's up with "support" software that doesn't work? If support doesn't work doesn't leave much confidence in anything else.
    Read This
    Thanks Bob.
    I finally got it working.
In the end what was needed was a huge amount of patience.
After about 6 attempts downloading the windows support software and burn it
To a CD, I had another 5 attempts downloading and saving the file to an external
    Memory drive.
Sometimes it got stuck at 20%
other times the download bar went to 40-50% and then got stuck with the error message.
During all my attempts I had the same network settings and I always was connected to my broadband Internet via wireless LAN.
Initial time invested was 2-3 days as the waiting always took a lot of time until the error message showed up.
I'm happy that my bootcamp windows finally has the drivers it needs,
But apple should seriously consider to check their download servers as
The next person who has to sit through this process will certainly
Not speak that diplomatic about this experience.
Try again, be patient, 20 mins is nothing.

  • TS3648 'Windows support software' via bootcamp assitant stuck at about 20%

I have tried to download 'Windows support software' several times through the bootcamp assitant - However every time the download appears to get stuck at about 20% to 25% completion...!!! My internet is working fine. Any suggestions?

play around with proxy settings first. there is something that goes wrong there and in Network control panel.

    Boot Camp Assistant 4.0.1 (429)
'Downloading  Windows support software' is very very slow / hanged? left it for 5 hours and the bar is not moving.

  • WINDOWS SUPPORT SOFTWARE FOR MACBOOK AIR 2014

Does anyone know if there is a windows support software for MacBook Air 13 inches 2014 version?
    I do need it desperately

Again, what do you mean by a Windows Support Software?
Bootcamp will allow you to install Windows on a Mac. Beyond that what else do you need?
The instructions don't mention anything about Support Software.
How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support
For All intents and purposes Bootcamp is the software that supports Windows installations.

  • Can't complete downloading windows support software

When i strat downloading windows support software from Bootcamp in my imac 2012 its freez in half and not completed? its look like miss seeding from server or somthing else , any one have same issue plz help

Instead of downloading the Windows support software from Boot Camp Assistant, download it from the Support site to avoid problems. As you have a 2012 iMac, you have to download this support software version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638 Note that this Windows support software only works in 64-bit Windows 7 and 8

  • Windows support software for os x lion help!

Hi i already downloaded the windows support software for bootcamp. but when i switched to my windows and tried to run the setup.exe file it doesnt seem to run. A command prompt-like box seems to appear and disappear in a second and then nothing happens after that. where am i doing it wrong?

When the installer window ask's you what you want to do, Run File or Open Folder, open folder and install the drivers manually.
Try right clicking the file and run as administrator, or right click and run in compatitbility mode.
Or drag the Whole file over to the Windows desktop and try the different ways again.
Try a search and there will be more extensive instructions on how to do it if you don't understand.

  • I am trying to install windows on my mac via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available.

I am running OSX 10.6.8 Snow lepard I am trying to install windows on my intel imac 20in late 2006  via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available. I bought the Imac secend hand and did not get the install dvd's with it What can I do?

You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation

  • I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

Apple only supports Windows on certain hardware.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Apple provides their framework for Windows to run on a Mac, a piece of software called a Hybrid MBR that bridges the gap between how Windows reads the drive partition table (MBR) and EFI/GUID partition table that Mac's use.
It doesn't mean Windows can't run on your Mac, a third party solution called rEFIt will also bridge the gap and allow booting of more that just Windows, Linux as well for a triple booting computer.
Your hardware has to meet the other requirements the second and third operating system needs as as being able to install drivers that will work for your hardware, especially the fans or they will run loud and fast by default.
    http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This above is a advanced procedure which requires knowledge how computers and various operating systems, drive formats and so forth work.
I even admit I don't know everything myself, but I experiment on a separate piece of Mac hardware (out of warranty/AppleCare) designed for this purpose so in case something screws up I'm not taking down my only machine and can use the other to get online and find solutions.
There is a very high potential for losing your data if your using advanced/non-Apple methods to install Windows on your only Mac where Apple doesn't support it. Also one shouldn't be doing this on Mac hardware that is under AppleCare or warranty as it might be voided. Proceed at your own risk and education.

  • Bootcamp Assistant: Downloading Windows support software... STUCK.

I've been trying for 2 days to get Bootcamp Assistant to run on my iMac 5K, and every time I've tried I get to "Downloading Windows support software..."  and it just stalls.   I even left it over night in hopes maybe it would advance some how, but nothing at all, just stuck at maybe 10%,
Anybody else get past this?   I see tons of people having installed Bootcamp already, how the **** did you manage it when you can't get appropriate drivers or software?

Wireless or wired doesn't matter (have tried both).
I've got a 150mbit down connection, which I've routinely run speed tests and other things since setting up the machine.  So I'm going to assume the connection isn't the issue.
Here's a dump of everything from the Console.  Any of it make sense?
