  • Why is the Windows Support Software taking forever to download in boot camp 4.0?

Hi, everybody! First time in the forums.
I've surfed though hours of content to try and find an answer to my problem. Whenever I try to download the Windows Support Software from Boot Camp 4.0 it gets to about 20% and just lays there. Forever. I've just left it there for hours and nothing. I have a Macbook pro 13" and am using osx 10.7.4. This is my first Macbook and I'm not really familiar with a lot of the great features.
If anyone has gotten around this then please help me out! Thanks in advance!

Only you can decide. I'll wait till the 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 version comes out, thank you very much... What I meant is that huge number of ML downloaders (@ 4.5GB a pop, which is what the installer file takes up) surely must be eating serious bandwith off Apple's servers.
Tech Support will roll their eyes and suggest yet more patience!

  • Windows support software loading forever...

Just bought a macbook pro 13' and installed windows (original home premium) on it via boot camp. Both mac and windows are working, used the option key when rebooting and tested both, everything seems to be perfectly working. Internet and special keys were not working yet on windows though, because I did not install the "windows support software". I don't have any cd's with my mac, it came only with the charger and manual, so I clicked to download it, at the boot camp assist. It's taking ages, seriously, it goes like 0.00001 cm for every 20 min. Is that normal? Anyone had that problem and got it solved? My software is
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
    Thanks for now

Ok, managed to do it! Some guys had the CD pre-made from another boot camp they did, it went well! Before that, I tried with a faster internet, and it worked, had some problem with the cd though...

  • Bootcamp Help: Windows Support Software takes a long time to download

I know download time depends on the internet speed but its weird. I have a mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro and I have tried numerous amount of times to install windows 7. Last night it downloaded within a few minutes, and I have a 3mbps dial-up wifi connection, and my mac died as I forgot to put it on the charger as windows was installing and so I had to remove the windows partition and I let it download the Widnows Support Software over night. It never finished and it still said it was trying to download. It never moved any further. I try and use my iPhone 4S Personal Hot Spot with a 4G plan and it still wouldn't download. And my hotspot is twice as fast as my home wifi network. Is there any way to find where the software is downloading to and then copy it in case this happens again?

    Hi,
This could be also related add-ons.
Add-ons are apps that browsers use to interact with web content like videos and games. Incompatible or out-of-date add-ons might cause Internet Explorer to run slowly, crash, or prevent sites from displaying correctly. You might want to turn off all add-ons,
and then turn them back on only as you need them.
1.Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
2.Tap or click the Tools button Tools button, and then tap or click Manage add-ons.
3.Under Show, tap or click All add-ons, and then select the add-on you want to turn off.
4.Tap or click Disable, and then tap or click Close
If issue persists, let’s try to reset Internet Explorer settings.

  • Why does it hang when downloading windows support software? its been downloading for hours stuck at about 20%. I'm on a current ten macbook air.

takes forever, I honestly don't think its doing anything. I'v already have windows 7 installed on a seperate partition... no help to bootcamp, I just need the drivers. I really don't understand why the only option of obtaining the hardware drivers is on a god-only-knows-how-many-gigabyte file through the bootcamp application... it would be SOO much easier if it just gave us a link on a site where we can download em individually. I'v seen alot of others complain about the download status bar freezing at around 20% aswell. if it is downloading anything, the status bar is broken... and thats annoying. maybe I'm just being ignorant. can someone who knows better please explain a more convinient method of obtaining windows 7 drivers for a  macbook air?

    hehe
it was same for me too but its not stuck at 60%, be patience.
What was i do on that time i keep it for whole night and morning it was done so almost i kept for 12hr.
Try again it will be done.

  • Can't complete downloading windows support software

When i strat downloading windows support software from Bootcamp in my imac 2012 its freez in half and not completed? its look like miss seeding from server or somthing else , any one have same issue plz help

Instead of downloading the Windows support software from Boot Camp Assistant, download it from the Support site to avoid problems. As you have a 2012 iMac, you have to download this support software version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638 Note that this Windows support software only works in 64-bit Windows 7 and 8

  • Boot Camp Assistant stops at 50 % when trying to download Windows support software. Help! : (

    Hello.
I am just trying to install Windows on my late 2011 Macbook Pro. I clicked "Finder" -> Utilities -> Boot Camp Assistant and started downloading Windows support software. Problem is that it is stuck at 50 %. Is this a known problem? How do I solve it? Do I just have to be patient? Is there another way around?
Also, do I need an actual CD to burn or can I use an external hard drive?
I appreciate any help I can get : ) I don't know much about boot camp.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Try downloading the Windows support software from the Support site > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Apple only supports now the external drive as the method to install the Windows support software, but if you download it from Apple Support, you can decompress the file downloaded, right-click the folder with the drivers and burn them into a CD/DVD

  • BCA  - New macbook pro - can't download windows support software

I've bought one of the new macbook pro retina 13" (with the force touchpad) and I'm trying to get windows 8.1 up and running via bootcamp.
However, i can't get the windows support software. Trying to download it via Boot Camp Assistant results in the message 'can't install the software because it is not currently available from the software update server'.
As a workaround to at least get windows installed (as directed from Apple support via chat) i downloaded the latest manually available software - Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640
this allowed me to install windows. However when windows finally booted i get the message 'this version of bootcamp is not intended for this computer model'. This also happens when i try and run the bootcamp software manaully within windows. i've also tried the support software 5.1.5621 which produces the same result.
Any ideas anyone? I get the impression the Apple server is either down, or they haven't yet put out the support software for the new macbooks.

    Hello Mike,
I've been having the same issue, tried the same steps to resolve but no joy. As of 2am (GMT) I'm happy to report that I've just been able to download the Support Software using the BCA on this rMBP 13, OS X 10.10.2. If you try the process again it should now be working. If not, I can try and upload the package to some repository for you.
Can you post the version in BootCamp.xml? It will look similar to the following...
    <BuildInfo BuildNumber="5621" ProductName="Boot Camp">
            <MsiInfo>
                    <ProductManufacturer>Apple Inc.</ProductManufacturer>
                    <ProductVersion>5.1.5621</ProductVersion>
Just checked the date on the catalog...

  • How long does it normally take to download the windows support software

I am trying to use Boot Camp to install Windows 7 but the system seems to freeze during "Downloading Windows support software..."  Does anyone know how long this process normally should take?

600MB so should, 10 minutes max, real? too long by 8 hrs
this is what "support for Windows on Mac" ever since.it went to a DL service
Compare that to 1000s of people installing Lion, iOS and other updates
and that no change or improvement in months and the yr since it was offered.
This is what lack of having a DVD in part, or not just post forall Mac ownerslike any other motherboard vendor does for customers.ps I have had adl link but it is no longer current latest driver set I've been told.

  • Hi, where can I manually download windows support software for boot camp windows 7 installation, I am trying through boot camp but its like taking forever to download its been 5 hours but boot camp still have't completed the download

can any one give me a link to download them manually

create a Windows support software (drivers) CD or USB storage media

Advanced Network: Proxy Settings, I uncheck "Auto Proxy detection" and make sure you have the interface you use selected and none others.
"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies  Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"
After Unchecking "Auto Proxy Discovery" I also had to Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" and then Restart Boot Camp Assistant.
odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started.  Windows support software is now downloading...  if you're downloading to an external drive make sure there's a least 1 GB of free space because the WindowsSupport folder is around 700 MB and presumably will grow with time.

Also, Change Domain Name Servers to OpenDNS IP address servers - that should be at the router firewall rather than the OS but may be in both for some people. You may be using the defaults your ISP uses, save those if you want, and try these:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Make sure you are not using LittleSnitch or Symantec (probably other 3rd party firewall)

  • I am trying to install windows on my mac via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available.

I am running OSX 10.6.8 Snow lepard I am trying to install windows on my intel imac 20in late 2006  via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available. I bought the Imac secend hand and did not get the install dvd's with it What can I do?

You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation

  • When trying to download Boot Camp Windows Support Software, error says: "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."

I use a Macbook Pro 13" mid 2010 on Mavericks and I've tried using the Boot Camp assistant to download support software for Windows 7. This gives the error "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
Further, I tried to separately download Boot Camp 4 and 5. When I do this and try to install from Windows 7, it says that this version of Boot Camp is not for this computer and doesn't install. The result is that I have Windows 7 working and installed, but am unable to use the trackpad to rightclick, brightness settings, etc.
    Please help!
    Thanks

You need to run Bootcamp Assistant and select only the menu item to download the Windows Support Software. Follow the instructions. The download servers are extremely slow therefore it may take several hours to get the download.

Wait, it can take hours (as much as 4 hours has been reported, 1 is more common)

    Hi Daniel,
It’s possible, that the system is sleeping due to inactivity. Before your next download drivers attempt, click on the system preferences - energy, and select options for power cable that prevent sleeping ever. rerun the download drivers step and let us know.
Screen dimming is ok, hard disk and or system sleeping could be impacting it.
Don’t forget to return settings back to tree hugger mode or we love to not spend money mode when done.
    Regards
    Chuck.
