Windows ~ sync'ing via iTunes only

iTunes may be the media player of choice for MacOS, but it certainly is not for Windows (... if I had a Mac this would be a different post). IMHO, the fact that Apple has chosen to lock 3rd-party media players out of the iPhone (and iPod Touch) media databases reminds me of Microsoft's past practices ... I would have thought Apple was better than this(?)

  • IPod Touch 5.1.1 no longer sync'ing w/ iTunes 11.1.3(8). . . .Bad Battery ???

Three day ago my iPod began acting up in a major way.  The battery charging symbol within the battery indicator is no longer showing the iPod being charged when plug in to my MacBook Pro 5.1 via one of my two USB ports.  A new Apple iPod cable was purchased thinking it was a bad wire or pin not making the proper contact with this device.  The same conditions are happening with this new cable.  I have several other peripheral devices and those devices are working and are connecting to my MBP's USB port without any issues.  I have noticed for the past six months my iPod Touch 3rd Gen has been showing signs in needing longer charging times and seems to drain quicker than it used too.  The iPod for the past two nights have been charging for more than eight-hours each night and is sporadic as if it deciding "I'm I fully or 30% charged?" Although subtle, It seems to jump within the sliding battery scale when the device is powered off for a while.  Sometime showing 80% charged when used for a few hours to 30% charged when used for ten minutes.  My iPod is now over three-years old and I think it is time for a new battery!
But, in all honesty, not sync'ing with iTunes is it more than just have a new battery professionally installed? Or are there other electronical problems/components going bad with these devices?  What else can be wrong other than a new battery or will a new battery fix all what is mentioned above? Please be very honest and technical if needed, Thanks!

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.

  • New Photos not sync'ing to iTunes

I think this happened before... I noticed that the Photos on Mac is changed. Though I don't really like the interface, I am trying to get used to it... however, once again, the photos are not sync'ing properly to iTunes... I need help... For example: there are more number of photos on my laptop after importing from my phone... Then I grouped them into different Events. However, I am not seeing these being sync back into my phone via the iTunes.
I happened before, and for some reasons, it get fixed by itself. DO you acknowledge these is a problem?

    HI,
Maybe try it this way this is what I did with mine because I did not migrate and didn't know about that either.
and really have the sidebar so because it will help you get the pictures organized
Photos application for Mac Instructions that might help!
On your iPad,iPhone keep the iCloud on in settings for Photos.
if you have not opened the New Photos application yet to have it transfer your photos from iPhoto let it Transfer the Pictures.
once you have all the pictures from iPhoto to Photos then in Photos go to Preferences
there is general and iCloud tab and go to the iCloud and only uncheck the iCloud button that will make it so it doesn't sync with your iPhone and iPad for Photos.
Then in Photos go up to View and press show sidebar because with that view you can move your pictures easier to albums snd delete or move any pictures or make new albums
For Duplicates if you have a big pile in a row and I mean not like every other picture of the same pictures on the keyboard Hold down the shift button. or the other way is to Hold down the Command buttom that is right by the space bar then on the trackpad or mouse click once on the picture you want to delete and do a bunch at a time then on the last picture of that pile either right click the picture and delete or go up to the edit button which is next to file on the top left and click delete in edit.
when you are all done with moving around your pictures or whatever go back to Preferences and turn on iCloud and make sure you have the optimize Mac Storage and then you are done! I hope this makes sense and works for you! here are the 2 pictures I'm talking about in settings.

  • Can I sync contacts via iTunes with Mavericks?

I would like to sync contacts and calendars via iTunes (wifi or not) to/from my iMac and not use iCloud.  Can I do this?  If so, how?
    Thanks in advance,

except this option is currently not available with Mavericks (as the OP asked).

  • IPod Error message when Sync'ing using itunes

Every time I use itunes to sync my music onto my 5th generation iPod it does about... 50 files then i get the error message:
'attempting to copy to the disk "DARROL'S iPOD" failed because the disk could not be read or written to'
A few times i've managed to get all the music onto it but mostly I get that error message. I've done a full restore on the iPod twice but it still happens.
I resorted to using the Winamp plugin to transfer the music and that seems to work a lot better but it doesn't seem to give album art, would like to use iTunes to do it, any help would be good.

  • Can no longer sync photos via itunes

iTunes has quit syncing photos to my devices (iPad, iPhone). First I noticed that some photos were not synced by comparing to original folder contents. I tried removing all photos by deselecting the Sync Photos option and deleting the iTunes Photo Cache. Now when I attempt to sync, I immediately receive an error "xx items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information". Where is this information stored and how do I fix this issue?

    For: itunes 10.6.1.7 (on Win 7), iphone 3gs 5.1 (9B176)
I am having a similar issue but on different hardware.  I attempt to sync photos but it only does about half of them.  I receive the "X items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information."
    - iTunes does not provide more information that I can find.
    - I deselected the sync of photos.
    - I restored my Iphone.
    - I deleted the "Ipod photo cache" folder.
    - Syncing the restored phone removed the photos on my Iphone successfully.
    - Syncing the photos again gives the above message.
    What am I doing wrong?
Why does iTunes promise me more information?

Going to sail in the Pacific Ocean. Want to get my contacts and calendar reminders out of Outlook into my iTouch while sailing with no access to G3, cloud or even Wi-Fi technologies. Could I sync using the docking cable via iTunes?

Yes, you can sync with Outlook. Read the chapter on Mail for more information.

  • Are my wi fi passwords for the various wi fi places I go sync'd with itunes?  Will they transfer to my new iphone 4S when I sync that via itunes? ?

Are my wi fi passwords on my ipod touch for the various wi fi places I go sync'd with itunes?  Will they transfer to my new iphone 4S when I sync that with itunes?  Where can i find a list of these passwords associated with wi fi networks on my ipod?

if i recall correctly - if you sync the same iphone it does restore your wifi passwords - but if you sync to a different iphone it does not (for security reasons)

  • How do I make iPod Classic import (sync) photos via iTunes so that the photos stay in order by filename and can then be viewed as a slideshow in the correct order?

I carefully number my iPod bound photos so that they are in a desired order by filename.  When I sync the photos to my iPod Classic they are not in the same order.  A typical filename would be:  001 001 IMG-3489.jpg followed by 001 002 IMG-3478.jpg.  Windows uses the first seven characters to order the files and does not care what follows the first seven so long as the first seven are not duplicated within the folder.  My iPod ignores that convention.  HELP! PLEASE!  I want to view my slideshows in the correct order.
    Thanks

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it  does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
    Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
    Sync your library.
    Good Luck!

  • Synced photos via iTunes..

I have got a new iPhone and wanted all my personal things onto my new iPhone. Plugged them in and backed them up but I have lost everything on my new iPhone. Cause I had backed them up my images were saved on my MacBook although when it came to syncing them onto my new phone it would not allow me to delete them off of my phone and the images are in 3 different albums.. I am very fussy on presentation and this is really getting on my nerves!!
So.. How can all the images be moved into 1 album??
    HELP ME!!

Photos/albums transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are removed from the iPhone in the same way - via the iTunes sync process.
All photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library.
Photos in the albums or folders below include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library so the photos are not duplicated as in taking up double the storage space.
This way you can view the photos in an album only by selecting the album, or you can view all photos in all albums transferred from your computer by selecting Photo Library.
    You cannot change this.

  • Sync contacts via iTunes with no cloud impossible!? *** Apple?

    Hey Apple,
are you serious? You force your customers to upload contact information into the cloud by deleting the option to sync contact information via wire from Mac to iPhone? Well, I don't really know whether you guys do not read any news but this is the very wrong time for that.
Who do you think you are forcing us to spread private information onto your server and the server of your big friends from the NSA?
I am seriously disappointed...Now I either stay away from 10.9 until some guy releases a software that fixes this lack. great. what's next? will you still let me install programs I choose or do I have to get them from the mac app store? oh and yeah, I do buy CDs if you don't mind, I do not want to download them from iTunes, sorry. Would you still let me listen to them on my Mac?
If this is the way we are all going...you can walk that way without me. I have owned a macbook, an iMac, 2 iPads, 3 iPhones and two iPods in the last 6 years...maybe it's time for a change...if that is the only way of showing you that I am a free person.
    think about it.

  • Syncing photos via iTunes - getting new error message" "the iphone could not be synced because the connection to iphone was lost"

I am trying to sync photos in a dedicated file on my desktop with the photo library on my iPhone 4S.  Something I have done many times before.
Since upgrading to iTunes 11 I get this message "the iphone could not be synced because the connection to iphone was lost" midway through the sync.  I do not understand this as I am syncing via the USB lead, so how can the connection be lost?
Bascially I just want to update the photos on my iPhone with new photos I have added to the file I use on my computer.
Any help or ideas would be gratefully received.  Thanks.

    This may help you

  • Syncing Books via iTunes

    Hey,
Lately (actually since I installed iTunes 11.4) whenever I sync my iPhone the books I have are being synced over and over again - every time without even making any changes to anything.
Even though it's not a huge number of books, it's getting rather annoying. Would resetting the phone and starting from scratch (with iOS8 it's even the best time to do so) fix the problem, or is that something totally unrelated? For example an issue with iTunes?
Using iPhone 5(64gb), iTunes 11.4 64bit for Windows, Windows 8.1. Updated to iOS8, but it was happening with 7.1.2 as well.

I had this problem. The steps I took to fix it were:
    1. Enabling the "sync collections" option in the iPad settings (no clue why this was ever switched off)
    2. When I next synced, it prompted me to use a different Apple ID (not the one I use for iBooks). So I used the different one, just to see what would happen.  Still no Collections organised properly.
    3. I stopped syncing iBooks so everything was deleted. Then I restarted which copied everything back again.   Still no Collections organised properly.
    4. I then went back to the iPad settings and changed the iBooks Apple ID back to the correct one that I use for iTunes/iBooks.
Finally it worked.  So all I can suggest is changing your Apple ID to another one, then back to the correct one.  This appears to have given it the nudge it needed.
