Windows To Go on a Macbook Air

I am testing the Windows To Go.  I am trying to make it run on a Macbook Air.
This seems to work okay when I run it on my MBA connected to a Thunderbolt Monitor.  But I am unable to get it to work on wireless.  I am unable to get it connected to the network.  I know that Microsoft does not support Win2Go on a Mac.  But I am trying anyway.
I am using the Kingston Workspace Traveler.  I just read that SYSRUS has Mac support in their solution.  I was just curious anyone's experience with either of these two products?

In your PC, you accessed to your Google Mail account using your browser. In Mac, the process is the same, but as your Mac is new, first you have to log in Google with your Google account.
If you want, instead of having to open Safari every time you want to check mail, you can use the Mail application included in OS X. Open System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars, and add all your mail accounts. They will be automatically set up to be used in Mail, so just open the app.
Then, after opening Mail, the process of deleting more than one mail is as simple as choosing the ones you want to delete pressing the Command key, and then, press the trash button in the toolbar

    Hi
I need to install Windows and Bootcamp on my macbook Air, due to a software tool a customer needs that only runs on windows.

  • How can I get Windows Internet explorer on my MacBook air?

I have several websites that I need to use for my new job that have not been tested for Mac. I don't want to have to buy a PC laptop, so I was wondering if there is a tried and true way to get windows Internet explorer on my MacBook air.

Or install Parallels 7 and then you can run IE just like any other app from within OS X itself. That costs around $50 plus the Windows license though.
Personally I have created an IE9 RDP (remote) App on my terminal server at work and just run that. Looks like it is running on my Mac natively.

  • What is the best way to transfer my music library from my windows pc to my new macbook air?

what is the best way to transfer my large iTunes library from my windows pc to my new macbook air?  Not all purchased, many from CDs I owned

Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • Why can't my Windows 7 machine see my MacBook Air?

I have a Windows 7 desktop  and a MacBook Air. In the wireless network we have. I've set everything up so it should see each other. Windows 7 is new for us - we had it working before with XP... We have an XP laptop, a Windows 7 desktop and a MacBook air. XP and Windows 7 see each other and MacBook Air sees Win 7. But Win 7 doesn't see my MacBook Air... I saw a solution to take Win 7 off the homegroup - but I had already disabled homegroup because I read several problems with it. So that didn't solve my problem... HELP

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • How do I install Windows 7 on my new MacBook Air?

Hey everyone, I just purchased a MacBook Air (4GB ram & 256 SSD) with Lion OS... I have been a PC user for forever & a day... I am going to be installing Windows 7 on it because Wellview is not a mac friendly program aswell as other programs. I am trying to learn the difference between Parallels, Boot Camp, etc... I understand a partition & how it works on a PC & have been reading forums in Mac rumours to try & figure it out on this system... But, what would be the easiest way to install W7? I will have to download Windows 7 OS & it sounds like Parallel but it looks like this MBA has Boot Camp already installed on it. Also, would it be better to have the thunderbolt connected to a hard drive & keep everything off of the the MBA HD? Is there a way to upgrade the RAM in the MBA? I know, that's a lot of questions... But, I would rather ask them here & figure it out rather than asking someone on the phone... Yes, I am male... LOL... One other question I have is how will the touch pad work in windows, how do you hit the typically right mouse button when this laptop doesn't even have one? I know you use the different fingers for different actions as I have been experimenting with... Just wondering on that one... I'm sure it works somehow... LOL...

OMG Morgan, you are an inquisitor .
But I will try and answer all your questions:
1+2: it depends on your demands: if you use both OS's often, and have a "normal" HDD you want to avoid restarting all the time and use a Virtualizer. With a MBA restarting is superquick. If you use Mac apps at the same time with Windows you better use the Virtualizer. But if you are having "bootcam windows" and decide to install a virtualizer later, this Virtualizer can make the VM of the bootcamp partition...
3: you can not install Windows without a disk.
    4. The X stands for 10: Snow Leopard is 10.6... Leopard is 10.5... Lion is 10.7... They are all OSX. Befrore that there was OS9.
    5. The Bootcamp install is very good guided: Bootcamp makes the partition on your SSD and after that it will ask for the W7 install disk (in case of a CD you need the Apple superdrive). This partition will be about 60GB for W7.
    6. If you use Parallels, there is Kaspersky antivirus included (half a year), it will only install when you say yes on the install question (say no for W7) but as I said before: only use an antivirus in W7 and NOT in OSX, if you do not pay very good attention Parallels will install it also in OSX. Better use Avast, AVG, they are free, simple, fast, and good. NEVER use norton. But you can use the one you know form your PC life....
    7. delete button: same as backspace, if you hold the "Fn" key at the same time it deletes forward.
    8. When a new OS comes available (this not the same as update), make sure before you install it, that all your apps have compatibilty: you can read a lot of posts here of people who did not check before upgrading to Lion!
(same goes for Windows 8, when it comes).
No I don't know where W7 is the cheapest.
    9. 32-bit or 64 bit: both are good, it does not make much difference either will run a 32 bit app. I use XP which is 32 bit on a 64-bit Mac OSX, and 64-bit W7. Thus: it depends what you want to run. My old Bankapps are all 32-bit and will not run on W7.
I hope I informed you enough to make your decisions now.
    have fun.

  • Cannot install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on MacBook Air 11" (Late 2010)

Hi, I'm trying to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my MacBook Air 11" (Late 2010 model) via Boot Camp assistant. I've hacked the Info.plist of the Boot Camp Assistant to allow it to create a bootable USB installer drive. After successfully creating the USB, the laptop proceeds to reboot itself but it never loads up the Windows installer. However, if I restart it while holding Option, and selecting EFI boot, the installer loads up. However, once it loads, I cannot install Windows 8 Consumer Preview to the Boot Camp partition because of this error: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks. Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. WIndows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
Can anyone guide me through steps that would hopefully resolve this problem? Thank you in advance

    @minxinglee
even i am getting same errors I hope you found out solution by now ! plz... can u share it ! i need it urgently

  • Installing Windows 7 from USB flash (Macbook Air mid 2012)

    Hello,
I read some famous instructions, but they are not for Macbook air mid 2012 as there are some missing options in their Bootcamp Assistant and this on macbook air 2012.
Btw, they suggested some rEFIt program which supports installing windows from usb which is made in 2010 but it has not been updated since then. I tried it but it doesn't work like it is described in instructions.
I have my USB and Windows 7 on it, but i don't know how to install it on the Macbook Air 2012.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Kind Regards,

    Hello,
Thank you for the explanation that helped me to understand Windows 7 installation process!
Unfortunately i need more additional information as Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide is very poor with information that i need.
To explain you better what i mean on, i will quote Boot Camp Guide parts with underlined sentences that have been confusing me. Some sentences that have been confusing me more than other ones will be additionally bolded. I will explain you why i don't understand it after every part.
    1. "Introduction"
"You can install Windows with an installation disc you provide or, on some Mac computers, with a USB flash drive that contains a Windows ISO images downloaded from Microsoft. Boot Camp Assistant helps you burn the image to the flash drive."
-But i already have my iso image on the USB flash drive. There is no need to be burned again?
    2."What you need"
"Boot Camp Assistant erases the flash drive, and copies to it the Windows 7 ISO image and software drivers that let Windows work with your Mac hardware."
-Erasing the flash drive? Does it mean that it will delete my WIndows 7 which is already on my flash drive?
-Copying Windows 7 ISO image and software drivers to my flash drive? Why? I already have Windows on my flash drive! Software drivers? How do i get them and where shall i place them?
    3."Prepare your mac for Windows"
"If you want to install Windows from a USB flash drive and you have a Windows 7 ISO image, select option to copy the image to a USB flash drive."
Why shall i select the option to copy Windows 7 ISO image?
1.I already have it on my flash drive.
    2. I don't have it on my Macbook so there is no place in a ssd where Boot Camp will find Windows 7 ISO image.
    Here is the overview:
Guide is telling me to select the option to copy image to a USB drive which will first erase my USB flash drive and then copy Windows 7 and it's software drivers to my USB flash.
-But only thing that i need is Windows support software and i don't know whether to download it to desktop, or to USB flash drive.
    Kind Regards,

  • HT5634 HOW WOULD I DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 7 BCA FOR MY MACBOOK AIR. I HAVE PARALLELS 7 FOR MAC AND WANT TO RUN QUICKEN FOR WINDOWS

Which systems of Windows 7 do I download for my MacBook Air?  I have OS 10.8,5  I installed Parallels 7 for Mac and would like to run Quicken for Windows.

You can run Windows 7 in Parallels. You do not need to run Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows if using Parallels. Visit the Parallels site for instructions regarding running Windows in Parallels.

  • Running windows xp applications on a macbook air

I need to run some legacy windows xp applications in my new macbook air.  What version of windows 7 I need to use?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, check that those applications are supported. Then, if you have to run apps that don't need all the performance of the Mac, just download Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows on a virtual machine. In this case, you can choose the Windows version and edition you want to install, but I recommend Windows 7.
If you have to run apps that requires the maximum performance, you have to use Boot Camp. In this case, you can only install Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate (it's better to run a 64-bit edition). To install Windows on Boot Camp, just open "Boot Camp Assistant" and follow these steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
If you are going to use Boot Camp, please follow carefully the steps, because you can delete OS X by mistake and lose everything. Apart from that, you need an external optical drive to install Windows. Any will work with the MacBook

  • Airport Express not visible to Windows XP laptops - works with MacBook Air

Frustration. I've been searching these Discussion boards and none of the proposed solutions seem to work for my problem.
I am trying to set up a brand new Airport Express to stream iTunes wirelessly to my home entertainment system. The majority of my music resides on a Dell laptop running Windows XP Pro(SP3). I have a home WPA2-PSK WiFi network using the modem provided my local internet provider (Qwest). I've been trying to set up the AEX as a client on my existing network. I have turned off my laptop's firewall and virus protection.
I used the Airport Utility to configure the AEX (setting the AEX name to something without spaces, setting a password, choosing join an existing network, selecting the correct network type (WPA/WPA2 Personal), entering my network's password, and enabling AirTunes). This seems to go well. After the restart, the orange light turns to a solid green light, but I get the familiar "Airport Utility was unable to find your Airport wireless device after restarting." I can get the Utility to retrieve the above group of configuration settings by entering the IP address and password via the Configure Other on the File pulldown. Despite the correct settings seemingly being saved to the AEX and the green light, the AEX is not available to my iTunes.
At this point, I'm about 8hrs into this setup process. I have been through all of the recommended permutations of AEX hard reset (paperclip in the AEX reset button while plugging it back in and waiting for the rapidly flashing orange light), laptop reboot, linking my laptop to AEX via ethernet cable for setup, hook AEX to wireless modem via ethernet cable for setup, hook AEX and wireless modem to laptop via ethernet cable for setup, etc. Each time, the AEX settles out to green, but it is not seen by Airport Utility on the Windows XP laptop. I've now tried with a second Dell Windows XP laptop (also shut off the firewall and virus protection) with precisely the same results.
Today I brought home my office MacBook Air. I reset the AEX and re-installed it as a client on my network and it was immediately recognized by the MacBook Air, and went on to stream iTunes wirelessly to my entertainment system (proof of concept). When I switch back to the Windows XP laptops, the AEX still cannot be found by the non-Mac laptops. They can find the AEX temporarily when I enter the IP address to the configure other, but cannot find the AEX after the reboot. The AEX is only available to the XP machines when the AEX is hardwired to either of the laptops via an ethernet cable.
I still just want to be able to stream iTunes wirelessly from my primary Windows XP Dell laptop to my entertainment system. Please help. Thank you.

    WPA2-PSK (AES) = Apple WPA2 Personal
    WPA-PSK (TKIP) = Apple WPA/WPA2 Personal
See if you can change the setting on your wireless router to read WPA-PSK (TKIP).

  • How can I make my Windows side recognize my external Macbook Air Superdrive

So I updated my Mac to Snow Leopard but I'm having a slight problem. Previously my Windows side did not have problems recognizing the Macbook Air Superdrive but now, each time that I switch to the PC side, the drive stops functioning completely. Is there a way that I can somehow format the drive/make it run on the PC side?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

im not sure if this is what you mean, but this program here will allow you full access to all Mac partitions:
