Windows update error message 80242006 on G500 upgraded to 8.1
Hi there I hope someone can herlp me. I have 12 updates showing as needing to be installed in my windows update to go onto my new lenovo G500 but everytime I try and install them I get the error message 80242006. I have googled it and tried the suggestions with no luck although I have yet to spot one that is for windows 8.1 which I have upgraded this laptop to.
The missing updates are KB's 2987107 ,2968296, 2972103, 2979573, 2978041, 2979576, 2977292, 3000061, 3000869, 2989542, 2998174 and 3000988.
Could the problem be because I have upgreded the laptop to windows 8.1 from 8? Thanks for any help, Peter.

To reply to my own message I seem to have fixed it. I went to control panel, trouble shooting, system and security and ran the resolve problems that prevent you from updating windows, restarted and ran windows update manually and have now installed the updates that wouldn't install previously.

I have a Dell PowerEdge T320 that is experiencing this issue: Windows update error Code 80072EF3
I followed instructions in article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/en-usand ran the DISM.exe with the offline source (my DVD drive) to avoid using the windows update component that appears to be damaged. Command completed, but no effect on the error.
Last successful update session was 7/8/2014
Security Update for Windows Server 2012 (KB2922229) cancelled. Tried to install manually. Not applicable.
Update for Windows Server 2012 (KB2811660) Failed. When running the manual download get the message it is already installed. Same for KB2855336
Any help appreciated.

I have been receiving this error trying to install SQL Server 2012. Initially I already had SQL Server 2012 on my machine and attempted to install BIDS 2008. My IT guy stated that there was a conflict in the installation and suggested that I uninstall SQL
Server 2012 and then attempt to install 2008 BIDs again. Fail. I got a similar error as I pasted below. Giving up on having 2008 BIDS I've been trying to reinstall 2012 SQL Server but am getting this message below.

KB article.
I suggest you run the System Update Readiness tool and check if the error still persists.

I needed to update my iTunes since I purchased the iPad2. My Windows Vista machine will not allow me to update the program due to a "Windows Installer" error message. I first attempted to update, then I uninstalled and am unable to reinstall the software."There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run..."
I finally got the program to install/run. I downloaded a third copy and saved it again on the desktop. I selected "Run as Administrator" instead of "Run" It must have been the 10th plus time I tried to install, but this time it completed. I don't know if the "Run as Administrator" was the key since it is Vista, or if I just got lucky. Either way I am relieved.

Thanks for the reply. The deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file is your best opportunity for a resolution. So, let us pursue that.
If you have Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit, the BadDrivers.txt file is there. But....in your attachments, you show
Program Files
Program Files (x86)
and no signs of Program Data where you must start in the path to the BadDrivers.txt file.
a. Could you be using Windows 7 32 bit?
or
b. Are you working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
In Windows 7 64 bit,
Click on Start
In the Search field that appears above Start, type in Folder Options.
Folder Options text will appear at the top of that left column for you to click on.
Clicking on Folder Options will bring up its dialog.
Click on the View Tab of the Folder Options dialog.
Then scroll down the list of options under View until you reach Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives,
and make sure that it is selected.
Program Data should appear in the lineup which includes Program Files and Program Files (x86).
