Windows Update KB2926765 fails with error code 8024200D.
Note: it was recommended that I post this to TechNet. It was originally posted at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_update/vista-update-bug/ed9baacd-edd3-449f-b679-8f71614f3a15?msgId=ca75efe9-beea-41e9-afda-7ffe15f9b0f3.
Windows Update KB2926765 keeps failing to install. The error code is 8024200D.
I've run sfc /scannow with no errors.
I used the System File Checker tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us.
I ran the System Update Readiness tool. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=1540
The update still failed to install.
I've also run the MGADiag tool and the Microsoft FixIt windows update (wu) tool.
I then downloaded the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx
and copied it to the Windows\CheckSUR\packages folder (after creating the "packages" folder) , and ran the Readiness tool again.
The update failed to install.
I ran the readiness tool again. This time the readiness tool found no errors.

The update still fails to install.
I also recently ran the "automatic troubleshooter" MicrosoftFixit.wu.LB.236326420485116200.3.1.Run.exe and still have the problem.
We're using Windows Vista Business SP2 32 bit upgraded from XP. Antivirus - Bitdefender up to date. Previous antivirus - Avira Antivir and AVG. Firewall - Online Armor. The last successful update installation was Security Update for Office 2003 (KB2726929).
It and other updates have installed successfully (after the KB2926765 failure) and KB2926765 keeps failing.

Windows Update / WSUS failing with Error Code 80070005
I have a small network (~40 systems) that I use WSUS to keep up to date. Because of errors I was getting, I elected to rebuild my WSUS server, which is running Windows
2012R2 and WSUS is the only thing running on that server. However, now none of my clients can receive updates from the WSUS server even though they will connect to the Microsoft Update site and download/install without a problem. Any time I try
to install updates from the WSUS server, Windows Update says that it needs to “Install new Windows Update software”. When I click the “Install now” button, it closes and reopens the window and then report error code 80070005, which I know is an access
denied. The WindowsUpdate.log also reports the same error code and also indicates a reboot is required, even after I reboot the client. I’ve run Process Monitor and am not able to see where the access denied is even coming from. WindowsUpdate.log
file information available upon request. Any help would be appreciated.Because of errors I was getting, I elected to rebuild my WSUS server
I suggest we start back at this point.
What errors were you getting, and what exactly did you do to "rebuild" your WSUS server?

Installation failed with error code 1603
Hi all,
while installing the configuration manager clients on a system manually, we came across this ERROR:
installation failed with error code 1603
Do anyone has any idea how can this be resolved. Several posts suggest its a problem related to client push installation method, but since I am installing the configuration manager clients manually, so I mush not be affected by anything related to Client Push Installation. However, be noted that client push installation is well configured on the server, there are certain computers where the client is not getting installed so we are installing the clients MANUALLY to those systems,
Any help and suggestions would be higly appreciated.
Regards,
NaveedI have encountered the Error 1603/1602 while installing the HCKInstall\Client\Setup.exe on several machines. It appears to be generic at first, but it's not. The error code is being passed from the Service back to the MSI. It means that a service failed
to start. The key is that it happens at the very end of the installation and then does the rollback. The solution is to figure out which service failed and then remove it and the directories.
Here is what I did.
I created batch to kick off before I install the client now. It basically checks for installed HCK products and if there uninstalls them. Then checks for the state of each service and if running stops the service before attempting to remove the HCK/WLK leftovers.
Then it removes the sticky directory.

I tried re-installing RoboHelp 10, followed by a reboot of the machine. Several attempts to run the 10.0.1 updater gave me exactly the same error. No applications were running when the installation was attempted.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Windows 10 Upgrade Failed with error code 80004005
OK, I have downloaded Windows 10 Upgrade and it all goes well until the computer restarts. Once it boots up again, the upgrade does not continue and I just go back to Windows 8.1. I then see error code # 80004005 for the upgrade in the Windows Update history. I do not know what is going on. I read on HP's Notebook upgrade page I found the following:For computers with available storage of 128 GB or less, the upgrade might require you to provide a USB hard drive (32 GB or larger). HP does not recommend using an SD card.If your computer has less than 128 GB of free hard drive space you will be prompted to connect a USB hard drive to continue with the installation. Use a blank USB hard drive 32 GB or larger. When the installation is complete, Windows 10 Upgrade will copy the windows.old file to the USB hard drive. Keep this file on the USB hard drive. It will be required to Go Back to the previous operating system if necessary. My computer definately fits in that criteria since it is equiped with a 128GB SSD. When I start the upgrade, I do not get prompted for an external hard drive. I have also tried the Media Creation Tool and ISO/USB and get the "Windows 10 Installation has Failed" error.
The system reserved partition serves a purpose. If it is deleted, then the OS will not boot back up. In which case you are toast.ON THIS PAGE, it tells what the partition is used for.-The Boot Manager and Boot Configuration Data : When your computer boots, the Windows Boot Manager starts up and reads the boot data from the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Store. Your computer boots the boot loader off the System Reserved partition, and it boots Windows from your system drive. I advise that you not do what CanhThanh is instructing

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Best regards.
Wilfred van der HeijdenHello Wilfred,
thank you for bringing your concerns to us.
The error code 2155348040 indicates BLB_E_BACKUP_TARGET_SPACE_NOT_ENOUGH which happens if the target volume size is not
sufficient to create a backup. In your case the total used space of source volume(s) could be greater than the space on the target volume.
So please check the free and used space on the source volumes and retry the backup with the target volume space greater than that total
space. We recommend the target volume size to be 1.5 times of the total size of all the source volumes for scheduled backups so that you
can have sufficient number of backup versions stored.
If you are using Block Level Backup then one other possiblity could be that your source volume is fragmented causing the backup size to be
more than expected. If that is the case then retry the backup after defragmenting the source volume.
Thanks,
Bikash Agrawala [MSFT]

Update KB3033929 fails with error code 80004005
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3033929)
Installation date: 3/11/2015 8:57 AM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80004005
Update type: Important
A security update. . .
I can't find any info on this error. Tried the update twice and both times it failed.OK, I ran it again.. and I think this is the relevant part of the +200M log. It does seem to have something to do with the boot manager or knowing which drive is the 'globalroot', perhaps.

Windows 7 backup fails with Error Code 0x80070002
I am trying to back up my computer to 32 GB USB flashdrive and I get the error 0x80070002; the system cannot find the file specified.
I've checked the event logs and I see the error: Event 14, volsnap "The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because of an IO failure on volume C:."
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64x.As it is a Windows 7 related question, it is recommended to post on Windows 7 forum instead of Windows Server forum:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/home?category=w7itpro
In the meantime a check disk is worth to have a try. Also try to run the backup in off-time to free the system resource.

SCCM software installation failed with error for 1603
Dear all
I was trying to deploy Open Office 4.1.0 using SCCM.
As per many threads the issue might be with the MSI. but I could not figure out.
Please help me.
install fails with error code 1603
-sumeetis this application failure or client installation failure ? with just one error code, difficult to find the exact issue. 1603 is generic error that refers to Fatal error during installation. Are you sure that the command line what you have used is correct
and is working manually ?
Check the logs for additional information that might help to trace the problem.

any ideas why its failing?Hi,
I've seen the same error on a customer where we had Windows Intune Client (SCCM) installed previously. Did you try it on a newly deployed computer? If you had Intune or another CCM client on it previously make sure you clean it up. Here is a well formulated
instruction:
http://douwevanderuit.wordpress.com/2014/01/30/removing-windows-intune-client/
Usually when deploying to many clients we use a startup script, there is a great one that Jason Sandys made in the link below.
http://blog.configmgrftw.com/configmgr-client-startup-script/
There should be no problems deploying SCCM 2012 R2 clients on Windows 8.1 unless there is something wrong with either the setup or the client computer.
