Windows users: Does you're iPhone show up in "My Computer?"

Hi,
I was wondering why some peoples phones show up under "my computer" in Windows when they plug their phones into their pc's and others don't? For the life of me I can't get my phone to show up under there and I don't know why it doesn't show up. It's the easiest way to transfer video that you shoot from the phone onto your pc because it works like an external hard drive...but I can't get mine to show up therefore I'm unable to get my video that I shoot off of my phone and onto my pc.
Friends of mine who also have the phone have no issue...they plug their phone in and it's listed under "my computer", they insist I have changed a setting on my pc but at the same time, can't tell me what it is that I've changed to where it makes my phone not show up.
I'm running Windows 7
Thanks for any help. If you guys know a program that will let me drag and drop my video from my phone to my pc please let me know cause I'm stumped on this. I don't know why Apple doesn't give us a way to do this from the get go.

I just seemed to solve the problem by reading an article on a Apple fanboy site lol.
As long as you have a photo or vid in the camera roll on the phone, the device will show up under "my computer", if you don't it won't show up and will require 3rd party software to get it to work. So I tested it out and sure enough...
That's the most strangest thing I've ever seen!

• Why does find my iphone show my computer 2 blocks away

So Find My iPhone shows my iphone very close to where it really is, but at the same time it shows my computer 2 blocks away? Is it showing me the internet providers site/tower?

Your computer doesn't have GPS, so it's location is based on the known location of nearby WiFi networks and therefore will not be anywhere near as accurate as the iPhone location.

Did you get a message that the iPad is disabled?

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
 Cheers, Tom
• In the About Firefox Help window what does, "You are currently on the default update channel" mean?
Firefox cannot perform an automatic update when running as a normal user on my system (it just spins when connecting to the update server) so normally when it notifies me of an update I run the application as root, open the About Firefox dialog and select update Firefox.
I was recently notified of an update to Firefox 7.0.1 (or 7.1 not positive) so I ran Firefox as root and opened the About Firefox box.
This time instead of showing me "An update is available. Click here to update." it displayed "You are currently on the '''default''' update channel".
What does this mean?
Thanks,
Adam.
Mine says "the '''release''' update channel" on Windows. I believe this helps you know whether Firefox is checking for new official releases or new beta test releases. I don't know what '''default''' update channel indicates.
A web search indicates that '''default''' means no updates. To change your update channel, check out this article:
• Windows & iTunes Does Not Recognize iPhone 4 But It Charges?
I have an iPhone 4 16 GB Factory Unlocked. Yesterday it was fully working. I don't know why, today, my PC doesn't recognize it, even as an camera. I don't see Apple Mobile Device USB Driver listed in the device manager. Tried several programs concerned with iPhone, but no luck.
Uninstalled everything related Apple like iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Application Support etc., and used a program called "ByeTunes". Reinstalled iTunes but it does not work. I tried plugging it to my laptop, still doesn't work.
Also, I'm using Windows 7 x64, and re-installed Apple Mobile Device Support for 64-bit several times. It didn't work.
However my phone charges, does not beep that plugging sound or show charging indicator but the battery level increases, when I plug it to my computer. But when I try to charge with firewire it works.
And last, my PC can recognize my phone in DFU mode, fortunately. But I'm afraid of being stucked at restoring process.
What should I do?
Thanks.
I am facing the same issue. Tried everything like, Reinstall Itunes, Tries the sync on 3 diffrent laptops with windoes 7, XP and vista, Connecting in restore mode, DFU, Apple mobile devices restarted..nothing has worked. I am not sure if i do "erase all setting and content" will help because if the i tunes cant recognise the i phone now, then after erasing everything will it recognise to restore??
Can any 1 help if i do " erase all setting and content" will help and will itunes recognise the iphone then?
• Windows user does not recognize my reply as a reply but as new message
I am emailing a lot back and forth with a person whose company is on a windows platform and they are getting frustrated with my replies as the reply does not come back as a response to an email that they sent me but as a new message. It is important for them to have it flagged as a response to their original email. Is there anything I can do on my end, perhaps somewhere in my settings? I am using Mail 2.0.7 . I hope I am articulating this problem correctly. Thanks in advance fro any help.
Walter, I see what you mean now but can't help further here. Try the windows compatibility forum if someone knows the answer to that one.
• Windows 7 does not recognize Iphone as Camera
Hi,
i recently installed Windows 7 RC (Build 7100) on my PC and syncing my Iphone (OS 3.0) with Itunes 9 works fine. BUT the Iphone is not recognized as a Digital Camera anymore, so no Dialog pops up when i connect it and i am not able to import Photos to my Computer. Device Manager only displays it as "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver". Is there anything i can do to fix this Problem? Thanks in Advance!
Not sure if there is anything you can do since I don't believe Windows 7 is supported with the iPhone, which hasn't been officially released.
• Does iMessage on iPhone show up on phone bill?
I Just bought the iphone 5s and I was wondering if I send messages through iMessage will they show up on my verizon bill?
There will be no line item on your Verizon bill for iMessages. iMessages (blue) will use your data allowance. However, your data usage is not broken out by app. You will simply get a total. iMessages are not SMS and will not use up any SMS allowance.
• ITunes V12.1.2.27 on Windows 8 does not detect iPhone 6 with IOS v8.3
Hello there,
It all began when I installed the latest IOS 8.3 and iTunes V12.1.2.27. iTunes simply does not detect my iPhone 6 any longer, but it does detect my old iPod mini. Everything used to be working just fine until the software update was done.
I've run thru all the steps on the Apple support page and spent over an hour on the phone with customer support. Checked the Apple mobile device driver, deinstalled iTunes, reinstalled iTunes, changed connecting cables etc etc. Nothing works!!
Help!
LES
exact same issue. And I can be TOTALLY sure it is related to the update since I was at the birthday party of my little nephew taking photo and everything were just fine. Then my brother asked me if I had already updated my iPhone. I said no and then I updated it while I was still there. From the moment the phone ended the update, I ended taking photos... The update screwed the camera focus mechanism somehow. I'm trying to downgrade to 8.1.3 and see if it will be back to normal. In this case it is a software issue, otherwise it will be a hardware failure caused by the update. I'm dowloading 8.1.3 ipsw right now.
Iphone not detected by iTunes or Windows 7. Seem to have tried everything on offer on all the support sites, both Apple and Microsoft:
Updated drivers, uninstalled iTunes (and all it's components), then re-installed itunes.
Deleted and re-intalled USB.
• What exactly does the iTunes iPhone 5S "back-up to computer" back-up?
I got a new iPhone that I want to restore from a back-up of my old iPhone. I was wondering exactly what things are "backed-up" with the iTunes back-up to the computer?
Does it back-up contacts, pictures, videos, game saved-data, app settings, and iPhone settings? Everything maybe?
Essentially everything other than media and the apps themselves. See Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support for details.
• Outlook clients unable to connect to Exchange / Windows user profile
Exchange 2010
Outlook 2010/2013
I've seen a dozen or so computers in the last few weeks with this problem. The user suddenly cannot connect to the Exchange server in Outlook. (Sorry, I don't have specific error messages for this part.)
If I try a repair on the Email account or try to create a new Mail profile, I get this error:
"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
I have verified all Exchange and mail security settings. Outlook configuration is not the problem.
I tried deleting %appdata%\microsoft\outlook and %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook.
I tried a repair on Microsoft Office.
I tried creating a new Mail profile for a different email account.
The only thing that has fixed this problem is a completely new Windows user profile, which tells me there is something else broken in the user profile. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?
Hi,
Please try to access Exchange via OWA.
This issue may occur when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders registry key does not contain all of the required data. Specifically, these problems occur if the AppData string value is missing from this
registry key.
To resolve this issue, import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile.
Steps to perform on a working computer
Start Registry Editor. Click Start , type regedit in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter.
Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
On the File menu, click Export.
Specify the name of the .reg file and then click Save.
Copy the .reg file to the computer exibiting this problem.
Close Registry Editor.
Steps to perform on the computer displaying the above error(s)
Start Registry Editor.
On the File menu click Import.
Locate and select the .reg file exported from the working computer.
Click Open.
Close Registry Editor.
Best Regards.
