Windows Users Unable to Access SL Server

I am attempting to have Windows clients access the SL server as AD users. I have AD/OD configured in a Magic Triangle with 10.5 and 10.6 clients being managed properly and accessing everything normally. smb services are enabled, all users and groups appear to have access according to Server Admin but I cannot login to the SL server as an AD user from a W2K machine. I'm probably missing something obvious, so I apologize for any ignorance on my part. Any ideas on how to gain access under Windows are welcome.

Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to access OWA in Exchange 2007, please follow these steps: -
Open
Active Directory users and computers.
Click on the
View, and then click Advanced Features.
Note:
To make the
Security tab available at both the user level and the organizational unit level, You must enable the Advanced features option in Active directory Users & Computers.
This option will be available in the
View tab.
Open the properties for both the user level and the organizational unit level that the users are located in, and then locate the
Security tab.
Click on the
Advanced.
Make sure that the following check box is selected:
Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these
with entries explicitly defined here.
Force Active Directory replication.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.

  • Windows clients unable to access File Sharing since upgrading to Mavericks Server

This summer, I have been tasked to upgrade all the Macs on campus to Mavericks.  Including upgrading to Server 3.1.2.  Previously, we had an Xserve that ran 10.6.8 Server and two Mac mini servers that ran 10.8 Servers.  We have a new Mac mini to replace the Xserve and, initially, everything was pretty smooth.  I built the server from scratch, with the intention of using the 10.6.8 server as reference, only adapting to Profile Manager, instead of using Workgroup Manager.
The only problem I had when I started was that I couldn't get Active Directory to create home folders on my Mac Server "NetUsers" volume when adding a Home Folder path.  After playing around with it, I completely hosed the Server and decided to start over.  Now, after a clean install, I can't get any Windows users to connect to the share on the Mac Server.  It declares: "\\MacServer is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  Account restrictions are preventing this user from signing in.  For example: blank passwords aren't allowed, sign-in times are limited, or a policy restriction has been enforced."  What's more (that I may not have noticed two weeks ago or it just started, I don't know), the 10.8 server that I upgraded to 10.9 also is not accessible and gives the same error.  However, I can access all these file shares from Macs using either smb or afp.
I'm suspicious that this issue is related to SMB1 vs. SMB2 that was implemented differently in Mavericks.
Please, any help on this would be a life-saver.  School starts too soon and I need this running on day one!!!

Had the same issue and spent 4 solid days tracking it down (looking in all the wrong places.)
For us, it turned out to be a problem in DHCP services configuration.
For the subnet under the WINS tab, the NetBIOS Scope had a '1' inserted into the field. Apple's tag when hovering the mouse over the field indicated a domain be insterted.
This prevented the Windows XP machines from successfully registering with SAMBA. Once the field was blanked out and saved, the (one machine) needing to be joined found the PDC and successfully bound to the directory.
Blank out the NetBIOS Scope field in DHCP (assuming a simple LAN environment) and you may be in good shape.

  • My windows user can not access the lion server.

All Mac user is ok.but all of windows user link fail.

I have been on the phone with Apple, done all of the trouble shooting they have recomended. When I attempt to connect it to the internet I get a message reading "your apple tv is connected to your wi-fi but cannot connect to the internet. I have plugged the modem right into the apple tv and it still won't work. This is the second device I've used. (apple gave me a new one after the first didn't work). I just thought there might be someone out there who had the same issue and knows how to resolve it.

  • Windows users lose permission/access

Installed OS X Server about a month ago - we're an all-Mac company except for 2 Windows PC users in accounting/finance. I set up network/file sharing access on the server side and then went to the PCs and set up a new "Network Place" as directed.
Everything worked OK for a couple of days, but then the users lost access. The mount/share points all still show up in their "network places" windows, but access is denied. I think it has something to do with the fact that on a PC, network places are kind of tied to the account (users are not prompted to authenticate each time they access?)...whereas on a Mac, you must authenticate everytime you "connect to server"...
Any ideas? I'm obviously a beginner with this stuff!

The Windows equivalent of Go > Connect to Server is Start > Run. There you can type the address to your server using the following URL syntax:
    \\server
Replace "server" with the IP address of your server, its DNS name, or its Windows NetBios/IP name, as defined in Server Admin/Windows. Note the backslashes - not forward slashes (/)!
A window appears showing share points that are available. Right-click the desired share point and choose Map Network Drive. In the Map wizard, assign the share point a drive letter and click the "Connect using a different name..." link, where you'll supply the name and password. Check the box to remember the password, if it's available. Complete the wizard. From now on, the share point will be available at the chosen drive letter in My Computer.
You can also use \\server\share, replacing "share" with the share point name.
Windows XP Home and Pro can prompt you for a password to connect to the server, but only Pro can remember that password for future use. XP Home cannot be bound to the server's directory domain, either, for user authentication. You'll need XP Pro for that.

Need to know  how can i troubleshoot this further?
    Regards
    Mahesh

I would do the troubleshooting in  following sequence.
    1. Put a wired PC on to the vlan allocated for WLAN1
    2. Check whether wired PC gets an IP & can browse internet
    3. If that works, then we know no issue of DHCP & not issue with L3/NAT routing to access internet
    4. If step2, does not work then your issue is not within wireless, you have to change the focus of your troubleshoot.
    5. If step2 works, then test a wireless client with OPEN Authentication (No ACS involvment). If this does not work, then it means wireless client does not get proper IP connectivity. Check dynamic interface configuration for this WLAN & make sure gateway addresses correctly configured. Also VLANs are trunk across to WLC from switch.
    6. If step5 works, then try your client with ACS & see the client get successfully authenticated. If not it may be WLC to ACS issue. Troubleshoot that in that case.
Do some troubleshooting like this & let us know the outcome. I am sure you will abe to find out the issue easily in this way.

  • Windows users can't access shared folder - only see Library folder.

I created users folders with the same name as the user's login name. (Note: this is NOT a home folder. I have Home Folders shut off). When the Windows user logs in to access their folder, they don't see their files but instead a folder that says "Library".
When I log in with that user's account on my Mac, I can see the correct contents of their folder, but there is also a folder named "99". I found this "99" folder at the root of the server hard drive but every time I delete it, OS X recreates it again.
    I don't understand what's going on.

    Hi,
Whether you can able to ping the server when the server share is unresponsive?
Check for the events on the server for a clue. Try disabling the AV program for some time and check whether the problem is repeating.

  • SSRS 2005 why some users can't access report server.

There is one user who can't access report server by clicking a link to a report. A window will pop up asking for login. Even he enters login, the window will keep coming back. I have set the user for that report and assigned the 'Browser' role to the user.
Other users don't have this problem. E.g. for another user I also set him up for the report and assigned 'Browser' role but he can access the same report no problem.

    Hi thotwielder,
As per my understanding, I think this issue can be caused by the following two reasons:
The report server can be blocked by Firewall. If Windows Firewall is turned on, the port that the report server is configured to use is most likely closed. Indications that a port might be closed are the appearance of a blank Web page after requesting a
report, or a blank page when you attempt to open Report Manager from a remote client computer. In this scenario, we can try to open port 80 in Windows Firewall on both report server and client computers.
The report server can be blocked by browser. We should ass the report server URL to trusted site in the browser.
We can also grant the user access to site-wide operations with system-level row in report manager to check the issue again.
Please double-check we have been grand the user the browser role on the report. We can navigate to Security property of the report to check the issue.
    Reference:
Configure a Firewall for Report Server Access
Configure a Native Mode Report Server for Local Administration (SSRS)
Grant User Access to a Report Server (Report Manager)

  • Unable to Access SQL Server 2005 Remotedly

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this...
After going through lot of old posts in various forums and changing lot of settings, i'm still not able to access my Server remotely.
This is Windows 2003 Server machine with Sonicwall Firewall, i have allowed Port 1433 in both Firewall and ISA and call is getting through but i'm getting following error msg :-
    {"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)"}
This machine is also having Sql Server 2000, and the SQL Server 2005 is installed with named instance.
    My connection string is :-
    "Data Source=192.168.0.1\MYSERVER;Initial Catalog=MyDatabase;Integrated Security=True"
In example above, i'm showing dummy values but actual string is having the actual live IP address and correct named instance and database.
If i use a local address like 192.168.0.1 then i'm able to connect.
My TCP/IP Address in Sql configuration is having my Live IP Address and the port 1433.
Any help will be highly appreciable..

i'm still checking on this. i have changed the port now to 1434 and changed in all places.
my connection string is also changed now, so now i'm using :- MYIP\MYSERVER,1434
now i'm getting a different error msg
    {"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)"}
this can also be due to firewall or something else is blocking it, i will rechk n post back final answer.

  • Users can't access iCal Server without adminstrator privileges

I have just installed Apple's Snow Leopard Server, Version 10.6.8. Everything installed just great and with one exception works fine.
ICal is running on the server. When a client attempts to  access the server he is denied unless he has administrator privileges. For example:
I open iCal and select "Accounts". I click the + button and for the account type I select "CalDav".  I enter a User Name and Password.  Then the server address.   An error message comes back that states “No CalDav servers were found for [our server address]"
However, I can then open the Workgroup Manager and give that same user administrator access by checking the check box that states "User Can Administer This Server" and repeat the above process and everything works fine.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

Same here.  My 9900 will not connect to my cameras on port 81.  However when I tether my Playbook to my 9900 and try to connect using the Playbook browsr it connects.  Is it that the 9900 browser does not like port 81?

  • User unable to access Leave Request in Portal

    Hello guys,
A user can't access the leave request via Enterprise Portal 7.0 - the view works perfectly with the other users thus the issue seems to be isolated to this particular user. IE version being used is IE 6.0 - so that shouldn't be the cause of the problem. Also, the roles have been cross-checked and synchronized with the other users who are able to access the Leave Request function. Yet, it appears the roles are correctly assigned
Could it be possible that this is a problem with the user's data? Which component should I also look into?
    Thank you in advance!
    Regards,
    Jan

As for the IE patch problem, we're conducting an http-trace to check with this. But I see this as very unlikely, since the user also tried accessing it via a different workstation but the problem persists.
The 'resolution' for similar cases was to recreate a user account - even just a direct copy of the same user works. This could be an SAP application bug perhaps? The target is for a long term fix to the problem.
    Thanks!

    Hi Rohan,
Are you saying to replace "nat (any, any)" with "nat (inside, outside)"? I was wondering about this because I'd always done "nat (inside, outside)" but a colleague had performed the initial configuration which already contained "nat (any, any)" statement and I was not sure if this was just something new in 8.3.1. I also noticed the "global" command is no longer available.
I will give this a try. Thanks.

  • Unable to access the server with its domain name.

                       Hi ,
I have configured the site VPN between to cisco ASA and everything is working fine, but if i access the server in url with ip address http://10.XX.XX.XX:123 i am able to connect the server but if i m trying with server name i.e DNS name it doesnt work for eg : http://abcdef:123  .
what could be the issue kindly let me know

The issue is likely dns.  Check the dns settings on the device you're trying to access the server's url with.  Can you succerssfully do an nslookup on the server's domain name?  You'll need the machine to have at least one dns server defined in its dns settings that can resolve the web server's domain name to an ip address.  Hope that points you in the right direction.

  • Windows machines unable to access smb shares

I know many people are having problems with smb on osx server, but my issues seems very basic, so I will try to ask for help here.
Basically, I have set up a single folder for sharing on a Mac Mini running OSX Mountain Lion Server. Directory services are provided by a WIndows 2003 server, and I have joined OSX Server to that, and am able to see all AD users and groups correctly. I have checked the boxes specifying I wish to share as afp, smb and webdav and also made shares accessible to guests.
Now, if I use a mac client, I can correctly browse the afp and smb shares, and the latter work via finder and smbutil as expected, including access via AD users, connection and file transfer.
If, instead, I use a windows client (I tried both Win7Pro and WinXP), while being able to ping the osx server machine, if I try to "explore" (entering \\hostname in explorer) the shares I get a "Network error: impossible to access ..." (approximate translation, sorry ). I tried both using the hostname and the ip address, always getting the same result.
If I try via prompt with "net view \\hostname" I get a System Error 53 (Unable to find network path).
Does anyone know if I am doing anything wrong?
    Thanks
    Christian

I have done some further testing, and I can report that occasionally, I am able to connect from a windows 7 professional machine by issuing the following command:
    net use z:\\hostname\share /user:DOMAIN\username
mostly this command returns a 53 system error, but sometimes I am asked for the user's password and am then able to access the shared folder for a brief time.
