2007 pc vista w1907 desk top compputer will not start up.

I CAME HERE TO HOPEFULY GET HELP. BUT I GUESS I CAN GIVE SOME TOO. MY VISTA 64 IS FEEZING AND DUMPING TOO. THE WAY I GET IT TO RE-START IS...HOLD THE POWER BUTTON DOWN FOR 10 SECONDS. IT WILL POWER DOWN. UN-PLUG IT FOR A FEW SECONDS. PUG BACK IN. THE LIGHTS SHOULD BE OFF. IF NOT. YOU NEED TO UNPLUG AND LET REST FOR AWHILE.MAYBE 1 HOUR. IF THE LIGHT IS OUT.PUSH IT TO START UP. IF IT DON'T START.HOLD DOWN FOR TEN SECONDS AGAIN.DON'T UN-PLUG IT.PUSH TO START AGAIN. DOS START-UP SCREEN WILL COME ON.USE KEYBOARD TO SELECT SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKS.CLICK ENTER. IT SHOULD START WITH LIMITED SOFTWARE TO RUN AND TROUBLE SHOOT. I JUST DID ALL THAT TO GET HERE TO THIS FORUM. DOESN'T SOLVE MY PROBLEM. BUT AT LEAST FOR NOW I AM TO SEARCH FOR MORE SOLUTIONS. LAST WEEK I DOWNLOADED A UPDATE FOR NIVDIA DRIVERS. SEAMED TO SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS FOR ABOUT A WEEK. UNTIL YESTERDAY..I LOVE THIS VISTA 64. BUT EVERYONE HAS PROBLEMS WITH IT. NOW, I SEE THERE ARE ALREADY PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS 8. (**bleep**). I'M THINKING ABOUT BLOWING UP THIS POS AND SWITCHING TO A MAC

Resetting of PMU yielded no success.
Here is what I have tried so far.
* First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
no icon located on desktop
* If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.

* Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.

If you hear the start up sound try a PRAM reset and a static discharge.
First unplug your Mac from power.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Release.
Press the power button 5 times.
Plug back in to power.
Turn it on, and hold CMD OPT P R on your keyboard until you hear the Start Up Chime a second time.

I am running windows 7 on a 64 bit computer. Itunes will not start unless I restart my computer and then sometimes it doesn't want to start. I need some help.

I am running itunes on a 64 bit computer with Windows 7 installed. The only way I can get itunes to open is to restart my computer. Restarting doesn't always work but that is the only option I have. I can find no problems with my system except this one. All my other programs seem to run and open OK. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am running the latest version of itunes. This issue is on my desktop. I also own an Acer Laptop that is also beginning to act up in the same way.

Have you checked to see whether the App Store appis hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'on' ?

Just downloaded new Lightroom CC (2015) (i.e. Lightroom 6), and it will not start

OK just downloaded Lightroom CC (2015) (aka Lightroom 6), Windows 7 laptop, and the program will not start. I have Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5.x, etc, and all run a-okay, no need for admin start, etc.
Side note - as is typical for Adobe installations on my systems, program installs do not place an icon on my desktop, requiring I go to the Adobe folder off Programs to find the EXE file, and "send to" desktop as a shortcut.
That issue aside, I located the Lightroom EXE file in the "Lightroom" folder (note it is not labeled Lightroom CC or Lightroom 6), and tried to start by double clicking - no response. Then tried right clicking, run as admin, no response. Uninstalled, reinstalled, tried same startup procedures, no response. Rebooting does nothing to help either.
Note Lightroom 5.7.1 starts up as normal.
Help.....? I leave tomorrow on a photo trip and would like to use the new LR version.

thanks for your reply. i'm not quiting the adobe cloud, i'm signing off then back in entering my email and my password.... tried to reboot, reinstall, sign off from the app and from the web also ... and did not fix the problem. this is very frustrating because i have no splash screen, no error message. There's some log files somewhere ?
anyways the 5.7.1 is working fine, and i can work. thanks god, the CC thingy did not removed the old one and i can work and deliver the pictures tomorrow

Oracle 11g database instance will not start

I have an oracle 11g instance running on 64bit windows server 2008. The instance will not start:

After that, the oracle service for the instance stops.
It will startup with nomount and I can mount it with no issue, but as soon as I try: alter database open; it fails.
I ran a validate in rman, and no error were found.
How do I troubleshoot this?

AC connection is good. When I push the start button lights flash but nothing happens, computer will not start. Quick play and DVD cause the same effect.

Then proceed to repair your Quicktime:
Win7/Vista - Start / Control Panel / Programs n Features.
WinXP - Start / Control Panel / Add n Remove Programs
Highlight QUICKTIME and click CHANGE then REPAIR

Firefox version 3.5.16 will not start under Windows Vista and Windows 7 32bit

I have a Windows Vista computer that will not start any newer version of Firefox than 3.5.16. The process will run (as seen in the Task Manager) but do nothing.
I have since updated Windows to version 7 and the problem persists.
I have tried uninstalling Firefox and all Addons (flash-player, pdf-reader) and deleting all files (even user-specific ones).
Firefox can't be started in Profilemanger or safe-mode either.
Is there anything short of reinstalling windows I can try?

Solved it!
It was a dodgy version of Firebug (1.6.2) running, which would kill the disable/update process. It was killing something on the first run that would corrupt my Firefox.
How I fixed it:
* Download the latest Firefox
* Install Firefox 4 (as Standard) in-place upgrade
* Before finishing, un-tick the "Run Firefox Now" button
* Hit Finish
* Find Firefox in the Start Menu and hold Shift and click the executable (safe mode)
* Leave everything disabled
* You should now have a working Firefox!
Remove/update your add-ons as needed. I only had to upgrade Firebug in safe mode to get it working.
Odd how the check for updates completely broke this Firefox, wonder what was so bad about Firebug.
Hope this helps at least one other person! The "Run in Safe Mode" option is so hard to discover now when your browser is broken!

What exactly happens ? Can you see the processes running in Task-manager?
