Windows Vista Adobe Reader X

Hallo,

Sorry for the long title, first time poster here.

This thread is pretty old, are you still having this issue?

  • How to disable the new logon Window in Adobe Reader 11?

Some times, some corporate guys get an idea - and no one is around to stop them.
For some reason, there's now a logon window in Adobe Reader taking up 1/3 of the screen...and it can't be disabled. Which mor....person...ever thought of something like this?
So my natural question: how does one disable it? And how can this setting be spread out through a Windows domain? Is there any registry setting which can be used to disable it?

Can you post a screenshot of that logon panel?  Never seen that before...

  • Can the folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6 and the files it contains simpley be deleted?

My daughter is running Adobe Reader 9.4.5 and Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X
on a Dell Dimension 4400 system with
Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 Service Pack 3.
During a full system backup using Seagate DiskWizard version 11.0.8326
each time folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6
is accessed the pc freezes with the Blue Screen error
IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL ERROR 0x0000000A
    (0x00000166, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804E5443).
Each time the Adobe Reader 6 folder is opened manually, the system presents a spinning
CD icon superimposed on the cursor and attempts to access the CD drive.
The access ultimately fails since there is no CD loaded because there is no intent to install
    anything at the moment.
Through a manual process of backing up each of the the files in the Adobe Reader 6 folder
individually, one at a time, I strongly suspect the problem file to be instmsiw.exe.
Can the folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6 and the files it contains simpley be deleted?
Are there any registry entries or issues that must be addressed before deleting these files?
What is the best way to free up space on the C drive that is apparently being occupied by
files left over from the install of a prior version of Adobe Reader?
The folder C:\Windows\Cache\Adobe Reader 6 contains the following files:

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and uninstall Adobe Reader 6. That version poses a security risk to your system and should be removed a.s.a.p.
After you remove it, reboot and then delete the "Adobe Reader 6" folder at the location you mentioned above.
Then go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/ and download version 9.4
After that installs, download the latest patch for it by opening the program, then go to Help | Check For Updates.
As a precaution, download the free version of Malwarebytes from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free and then run a full system scan.

  • Windows 8 Adobe Reader will not fully open a pdf compiled with several pdf's into one - why?

Windows 8 Adobe Reader will not fully open a pdf compiled with several pdf's into one - why?

    Hi Michael,
“AdbeRdr11003_en_US.exe” is the download installed on our CEO’s new Windows 8 laptop.  It is a Dell XPS Re: Windows 8 Adobe Reader will not fully open a pdf compiled with several pdf's into one - why? Dell XPS 13" .  It has a full install Windows 8 Professional for its’ Operating System.
I’ll attempt to attach the file in question.  The file opens fine on our Windows 7, and XP computers (with  the proper Adobe Reader on each).
Our CEO says there is a message that comes up saying he needs Adobe Flash.  I’m attempting to find out whether or not he is trying to open it the ‘Metro’ view, or the ‘Desktop’ view – no answer yet.
If your system strips the attachment, let me know, and I’ll upload the file to an ftp site {if necessary}.

  • Windows 7 / Adobe Reader

The file size exceeds the limit allowed and cannot be saved.

We were using XI and then went back to 9.5 to try to fix the problem.  We are just trying to open the file in Reader for viewing.  The file sizes are about 200mb.  It used to work on our older computers.

  • Windows Vista cannot read the file in my ipod touch

I am using windows vista and I have 2 separate problems with my ipod touch:
    1. Itune recognizes my ipod and all the songs that are on it but not the photos.
    2. Windows cannot display the files that are on the device. When I go to my computer the ipod is not listed as one of the available drive.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Garry296,
I'm happy to assist you today, with your problem! Let's take it step by step...

So you mean you can sync music, but not photos? How are you doing it? See if this articles helps you: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/7.5/en/789x.html

That's not a problem. It is just like that! iPod Touch and iPhone cannot be used as a Storage drive. Apple removed this feature from this devices.
    Hope this helps!

  • Windows XP; Adobe Reader XI; Google Chrome

I have an old PC running on Windows XP with Adobe Reader XI installed and my browser is Google Chrome. No problems up until recently when (I don't know how) my PC was 'invaded' by a 'browser hijacker' called VOSTERAN which, according to all the websites I visited, is a VERY bad thing. After a lot of trouble, I eventually got rid of Vosteran but this involved uninstalling and then re-installing Chrome. So I got Chrome back but then found I had a problem with PDF documents (which I hadn't had before).
I was trying to print off a page from a particular website (which I'd successfully done previously) but found that, when I clicked on the Print icon, it was immediately replaced by a Save icon - in the form of a PDF document. So I saved the page (because I could no longer just print it) to my PC but then found that I could neither open nor print it. I just got an error message from 'Adobe Reader' which said "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience".
I tried all sorts of other options such as "Open With" etc. but still nothing.
Then I found that I could no longer open (or print) any PDF document which I'd previously saved on my PC! So I uninstalled and then re-installed Adobe Reader (several times) but still without success. I also searched online for possible answers (for a long time) but nothing I've tried has worked.
So .... is this a problem with my PC? Or with Adobe Reader? Or is there something in Google Chrome 'interfering' with my being able to open and print PDF documents - which it didn't do before (I've tried all the troubleshooting tips on Chrome).
Please help as this is driving me nuts!

Try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
P.S. note that Chrome uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.

  • How to print when using Windows 8 Adobe Reader

How does one print a simple .pdf document using Adobe Reader in Windows 8.  With the document open, the print button is visible on the tool bar but clinking on that only brings up the screen asking where do I want to save the document.  It is already saved...I just want to print it!  Clicking on file and then selecting print results in the same.  I've never had this problem before.  I have been a long time Adobe user but always WIndows 7 or Windows XP.  This Windows 8 is killing me.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

This sounds like you have 'Print to File' set; uncheck it (Advanced button on the Print panel).

  • Windows 8 & Adobe Reader question

I am new to Windows 8 and would like to view my .pdf's (like I could in Windows XP) on a window I can shrink so I can open
additional software and shrink so both pages are open next to each other on the window.
I am very frustrated at this point with Windows Reader and Adobe Reader because I can't figure out how to do this. It was a major function for my .pdf reader to do this. Help please!

On Windows 8 Pro/RT, there are two different types of apps that you can install and run.
    (a) Windows Store apps with "Modern" UI
Examples: Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8, Windows Reader by Microsoft
The application window of a Windows Store app occupies the entire/full screen by default. (This is the UI design decision made by Microsoft.) However, it does not mean that you are stuck with the full screen mode.  You can optionally snap a second Windows Store app to the left/right side of the screen to view the two apps simultaneously.
See Get to know Windows - Snap an app: Use two apps at the same time.
However, the limitation is that you cannot have more than two Windows Store apps displayed at the same time on the screen.
    (b) Desktop apps with classic UI
Examples: Adobe Reader XI, Microsoft Office 2013
If your PC/laptop/tablet is running Windows 8 Pro (as opposed to Windows RT), you can install the traditional desktop apps that are compatible with Windows 8.  From the Windows 8 Start screen, you can tap/click the Desktop tile and switch to the Windows 8 desktop, which looks almost identical to the Windows 7 desktop. In the desktop environment, you can install and launch as many desktop apps as you want and arrange the app windows anyway you want.
However, if you have a tablet with an ARM-based processor running Windows RT (e.g. Microsoft Surface RT), there are no compatible desktop apps available other than pre-installed Microsoft apps like Office (as far as I know as of February, 2013). So Adobe Reader XI will not run on Surface RT.

  • Windows 7- Adobe Reader X 10.1.4- "An Internal Error Occurred"-"Fatal Error, Adobe Failed to connect

I downloaded Adobe Reader X 10.1.4  lately and I could not open any pdf file I have and gave a message, "An Internal Error Occurred. I tried to change it under the Program Features for updates and fixes  and re-started my computer. Then I tried to open again a pdf file and a message " Fatal Error", Adobe failed to connect to DDE Server. What do I need to do to fix this up? Is Adobe even aware of this?

If all things fail and you are not getting a resolution to this. Delete the Windows 7 User profile.   C:\Windows\Users\<user name>
Reboot, then recreate the user profile by logging on as the User.   You are not done yet.
Logoff and log back as Administrator and go to Regedit and manually delete the user profile from the Registry.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\[SID]    look for the User name.bak
Delete it.   Then reboot and go back and log on as the user.  That should fix it.
If you get lost with those instructions on how to delete user profile.  Go to this link:

  • Windows 7, adobe reader crashing, uninstall, reinstall, crashes opening (error #150210) help?

I have installed and uninstalled adobe reader several times now, it crashed when opening a PDF file.  The error code is #150210, and I have followed some of the messages online with no luck.  Actually I did do one, and it lasted for one day but when I returned, it crashed again.  I really need to open the PDF files.  Anyone have any suggestions.

Not sure if this will help; but these are some things that help preventing Adobe Reader from crashing...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Negative Value Fields Not Displaying on Windows XP / Adobe Reader 10+

    Hi,
We have some PDF forms for invoices.  At the bottom of the forms, there is a table with various totals (items total, discount total, restocking fee, etc).
This is a pretty strange one to me.  Here is what I am seeing:
If the dollar amount is negative in those totals, the dollar value will not show up.  It's only negative values, but it's consistent across all fields in this totals table.  I've confirmed this by manipulating values in the debugger.  So we would expect the table to look like this:
    Items Total: 10.00 USD
    Discount:    -1.00 USD
    Amount Due:   9.00 USD
    Instead we see:
    Items Total: 10.00 USD
    Discount:          USD
    Amount Due:   9.00 USD
Even stranger, this only happens in our quality and production environments, not in our development environment.  It only happens when the user chooses to print preview, not if the output is triggered in the background.
To further add to the confusion, it does not happen on Adobe Reader 9 or lower.  It does not happen on Windows 7.  This problem is reproducible only if the user is running Adobe Reader 10 and Windows XP.
I'm reasonably confident this has something to do with ADS, but I don't even know where to start looking.
    Thanks
    Bryan

The amount field in the interface is CURR 15.
On the form, the amount field is a decimal field BUT this field is hidden.  The display field is defined as:
    Thanks,
    Bryan

  • Windows 7, Adobe reader starts but closes right away?

Is there a sulotion for this, i am not able to view any of the saved files I have on my computer. When i click on the acrobat file it starts to open but closes right away. I am running windows 7 and can't find any help online. It was working just fine before and i had no troubles up to this point, But i went to open a file today and started having this problem.

The End User License Agreement (eula) tends to "hang" in Windows 7 and it doesn't open as it should. This keeps Reader from opening after an update.
Go to: C/Program Files/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader    (it may be in Program Files (X86) if your OS is 64 bit)
Double click the eula.exe file and accept the license agreement. Reader should open after that.
