Windows Vista Aero theme - incompatible with iTunes?

Whenever I boot up my laptop I get an error saying iTunes is stopping my Vista Aero theme from showing. When I go to task manager and end the ituneshelper.exe module process, the Aero theme is then accessible.
I know the ituneshelper.exe is an important module to allow to run, but I really don't want it interfering with my Vista theme. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Help would be so much appreciated.

OK I figured out the problem:
I had installed Quicktime Alternative which screwed up iTunes since it requires the very newest version of Quicktime to be installed.
Moral of this story: Don't install Quicktime Alternative

That's the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?

I don't understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can't execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.
By the way when you view a page from the internet, image files are already downloaded in the temp folder of your computer but only the browser uses them unless you open them from there and use in another program. So if you have a virus protection the images are already scanned.

Windows Vista 64 bit not running itunes!

After 2 hours last night and an hour this morning - I GIVE UP!!!! I am running Windows Vista and I have downloaded itunes for Vista 64 bit, and it STILL DOESN'T WORK!! Help - I spent £200 on the iphone 4 only to actually end up with no phone that actually works HELLLLP!!

If you want the shuffle to be always visible in Windows (outside of iTunes), you need to Enable disk use.
Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, select the Summary tab. You should see a checkbox that says Enable disk use. Check it and click Apply.
NOTE: If disk use is enabled, you have to Eject the shuffle in iTunes, BEFORE you physically disconnect it. If disk use is NOT enabled, you can disconnect the shuffle at any time, as long as iTunes is not doing something with it at that moment (such as syncing); the shuffle's light will then be blinking (to indicate DO NOT DISCONNECT).
So, unless you want to use the shuffle like a USB flash drive (carry random files on it), you may want to NOT Enable disk use.

Videos unwatchable under Windows Vista and current versions of iTunes/QT

I know this has been brought up before, but all of the previous suggestions do not apply to my situation. Ever since upgrading to iTunes 7.2, no iTunes or QuickTime videos play properly. The audio generally works just fine, but the video is jumpy and extremely sporadic.
I have two hard drives, one is SATA the other is PATA - doesn't matter which one the video file is on. I have tried all of the suggestions in the FAQ such as disabling Direct3D video acceleration and running in Safe Mode (GDI only), but no change in behavior.
This appears to only be affecting newer video files, because I can still play my old Podcast videos without a problem (prior to the problematic iTunes release), but anything downloaded after that gives the video issues. I get the same thing with videos like the new iPhone demo video as well.
I am running Windows Vista Business (32 bit), with the following system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2 GB RAM
ATI X1950XTX w/ 512 MB
160 GB PATA HDD (primary - apps and OS)
200 GB SATA HDD (secondary - data)
Anything useful would be greatly appreciated as this is becoming a very painful ordeal.

This is NVidia's reply indicating that there is no issue with their SATA drivers, and this has been reported back to Apple.
Now, I did find that when I put one of my video podcast files on the PATA drive, it appeared to play ok, but when I tried to play the .mov iPhone video from the PATA drive, it still had the same video issues, which tells me it has nothing to do with PATA vs SATA.

I just bought a new Dell XPS w/ Windows Vista. I cannot load iTunes. I've deleted and reinstalled several times, but each time, when I try to open iTunes, it tells me that "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." Help?!

While playing with the pre-release versions of Vista I had numerous iTunes problems though I could get it to run. Just not reliably. Since Vista was just released, and that just for businesses officially, we'll just have to wait for an update. Remember, Zune software doesn't work on Vista either.

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

Lost windows vista cd that came with laptop

i own a t500 and i have lost my windows vista cd that came with it. I had planned to reformat my computer. What are my options to get a new copy of this cd? and lets say i wanted to upgrade to windows xp or 7, then which version would I need?

You probably made your own recovery discs for the laptop using the Rescue and Recovery restore disc creation wizard, which only allows you to make one copy of the discs (unless you made additional copies afterwards).
You can buy restore discs from Lenovo for Vista, but I would personally just go up to Windows 7; it's significantly better than Vista. If you were to upgrade to 7, you COULD get a set of Vista restore discs + a Windows 7 upgrade disc, or you could just go straight for a retail, full Windows 7 disc. (There are ways of getting an upgrade disc to work without having Vista installed; you'd need the OEM CD-Key on the sticker under your laptop, assuming it hasn't been worn away).
If you want to go back to XP, you could go for Vista/7 Professional with XP downgrade, which is more roundabout than the Vista+7 update, so you're better off getting some sort of XP restore discs or a retail copy of XP.

I've mostly seen that show up on XP systems to date.
Some systems aren't liking the 4.0.0.3207 version of the dll that comes with Apple Application Support version 1.5. One workaround has been to swap out the dll for the version 4.0.0.3205 that came with Apple Application Support version 1.4.1.
Ona Vista system, we might be able to find a shadow copy of the relevant version of the dll and revert to that.
*If you have any version of Vista other than Home Premium:*
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
Open the "Program Files" folder.
Open the "Common Files" folder.
Open the "Apple" folder.
Open the "Apple Application Support" folder.
Right-click on the icuuc40.dll file and select "Properties".
Go into the "Previous versions" tab. Wait for it to search for previous versions.
Is there a version 4.0.0.3205 available? If so, revert to that. With the 4.0.0.3205 in place, can you launch itunes now?
*If you have Vista Home Premium:*
Although Vista Home Premium takes shadow copies of files, it doesn't include a user interface for accessing them. So we can't use the previous versions tab method to get access to them. However, you could use a utility like ShadowExplorer to look for a version 4.0.0.3205 of the dll and replace the dll using that.

Windows vista is not compatible with itunes64bit install

I have downloaded the itunes 64bit setup and it does not work with my windows vista pc. I just bought a new pc and haveing compatibility problems with the vista and itunes and quicktime. does anyone know how to fix this?

This 'should' be a link to a picture that is being talked about. It's happening on my copy of 64 bit vista as well, using the most up to date installer for 8.1.1 itunes. Incase this link doesn't workin on these forums (my 1st post) here is what it says word for word.
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
Since I'm pretty sure Vista doesn't default to safe mode EVERY time you log in, I'd say my problem is of the later type. Any assistance would be nice, but if nobody replys shortly I do plan on calling support and bugging them for as many hours as it may take to get the problem fixed.
Edit: I just realized that we are both running gateways. Though he/she said gateway said it was an apple problem. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that note out there.

Windows Vista / Aero on my Equium M70

Hi. I have just downloaded Windows Vista RC1 for my M70 that I only bought a couple of months ago from Curry's. It has the Vista capable sticker on it and the salesperson confirmed that Vista will run properly with the 3D enhancements.
Of course I want to have the full experiance of Windows Vista. Yet Windows Aero will not work on my machine because of the graphics card: Mobile Intel(R) 82915GM/GMS/910GML. I have not bothered installing the basic version yet. I have done some research for the past few hours. The hardware meets Vista's requirements yet it is the Intel driver that needs to be updated and Intel have not released the driver as yet. I have e-mailed them regarding this and they said that it is not their policy to release information regarding software that may or may not be in the works. They also pointed out that Vista has not officially been released yet.
All I want to know is, will Intel release a driver to make my machine/chipset compatible with Windows Aero, even after Vista has been oficially released? It has seriously got on my nerves that my notebook I have spent so much on may not be up to scratch.

I have found this info on one of the Toshiba European websites about Vista.
The "Windows Vista Capable" designation is given to Windows Vista Capable Toshiba notebooks that fulfill the minimum requirements below. Toshiba notebooks with the Vista Capable logo can be upgraded to support the Windows Vista operating system.
A Windows Vista Capable notebook includes at least:
- A modern CPU
- 512 MB or more of system memory
- A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable
All Windows Vista Capable notebooks will be able to run at least the core experiences of Windows Vista. To enjoy the complete Windows Vista experience, including the Windows Aero user experience, ask for a Windows Vista Capable notebook that is designated Premium Ready.

As mentioned the Vista is not official on the market and if you need any drivers for Vista you have to wait until the Vista will be official released

Windows Vista + nVidia i680 MB + RAID5 + iTunes 7.3.2 = RAID array trouble

Dunno if any of you can help out with this but I'm at witt's end over this issue.
I have a Windows Vista box running an Abit In9-32MAX motherboard (nVidia i680 chipset), four drives in a RAID 5 array and using iTunes 7.3.2
Drivers for the motherboard are the most recent ones from the nVidia site. BIOS for motherboard is also current.
Practically ANY time I import any audio or video file over 50 MB into iTunes the entire RAID array will degrade. I'm also having issues transcoding video into Quicktime using Videora which seems to be related to this issue. The video simply refuses to play.
For what it's worth the video/audio content is legit. I own the DVD's that I'm transcoding so I can watch them when I travel.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc appreciated. I'd love to go a whole week without iTunes/Quicktime forcing me to rebuild the RAID array.

Well, whatever Itunes/quicktime does, it's definitely causing some sort of RAID compatibility. I've had this problem since I got my new rig a month ago. Nvidia 680i SLI board with a RAID 1, and I have it working fine (I've done 3 system restores now) and then I install itunes, and kablooie, there goes the RAID. I can also tell you that even if you disable the mediashield program (NVRAID.exe), it will still happen (this was my last experiment in trying to make it work) and the raid will show up degraded in the BIOS.
Basically, Apple and Nvidia need to exchange a freaking phone call and try and figure out what is causing it to go bad. from reading around, it's not just apple (though they are the biggest culprit). I've seen people mention bittorrent and some other program whose name escapes me at the moment cause this as well (digital imaging program I think).

Music skips on Windows 8.1 64-bit with iTunes 12.1

Okay, this is probably going to sound strange, but its true.....
When I am listening to music in iTunes 12.1 and I have Google Chrome opened, the music skips. I can open any other application and not have that problem, just only when Chrome is opened. Needless to say, I switched to Firefox and now the music does not skip. Has anyone else experienced this?
My PC specs:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
AMD A6-3620 (4 CPUs) ~ 2.2GHz
NVidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti (4GB memory) Dedicated Graphics Card
8GB RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy Fx Dedicated Sound Card

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The section Install missing components may allow you to install Apple Application Support.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
