Windows Vista and ipod

I heard on the radio that ipod is not yet compatible with windows vista so I haven't synced my ipod nano with my library since I got my new computer. Is this true and if it is what can I do about it?

Well, although iTunes 7.1.0.59 (and now 7.1.1.5) cleared up some problems with running/installing iTunes software on it, Vista isn't really officially compatible at the moment.
What exactly is happening when installing the iTunes/iPod software?
If you are getting any error messages, please quote what ehey say, and/or when the problem occurs.
Be sure that you've upgraded to the latest iTunes version (7.1.1.5). Here is the download page for it:

  • Problem with  Windows Vista and Ipod!!!!

I tried a couple of times to import my music from my computer and cds to my ipod nano .
The thing is that I know I have transfered some songs and photos properly cause I can see the files are in the ipod memory but as soon as I unplug it from the USB and try to find them in the nano menu it's empty , no music , no photos , nothing...
    What can I do?
Can somebody help me or give me some advice?
    thanks a lot

if you were on an XP or 2000 box, my first thought would be to check for a Windows drive letter confusion, as per:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
i don't have a Vista box at this stage, so i'm not quite sure where Vista keeps its "Drive Management" analogue ... but if you can find that, try changing the drive letter to see if that helps.

iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server

    Try this:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I use Windows Vista and Microsoft Outlook. After migrating to iCloud, the calendar of iCloud tranferred only part of my past Calendar items to the folder iCloud Calendar in my Outlook. How can I transfer all the entries? In iCloud's site all are there.

If the calendar is on iCoud.com, all you would need to do to get it on your phone is go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign into your iCoud account and turn Calendars on.  The iCloud calendars will then download to your phone.

  • Windows vista and 10g2

    hi everyone!
i have oracle 10g 2 and i would like to install it in windows vista.
    however i take an error.
is anything i can do in order to install this version in windows vista?
    Thank you!

Software packages are different for 10g, you need
    Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 2008
You can download and use the software in accordance with these terms:
Free to download, free to learn, unlimited evaluation
All software downloads are free, and each comes with a Development License that allows you to use full versions of the products at no charge while developing and prototyping your applications (or for strictly self-educational purposes). In some cases, certain downloads (such as Beta releases) have licenses with slightly different terms. You can buy products with full-use licenses at any time from the online Store or from your sales representative.

What version of Vista do you have? 32bit or 64bit? I have a 32bit Vista Ultimate and PC Suite works fine.

  • Windows Vista and Outlook

    Hi to everyone,
I'm new to Windows Vista and I tried to transfer music to my mobile phone. I was told that I couldn't synchronise with my phone cos outlook hadn't been installed correctly. Am I being a plank?

I don't think that we can synchronize music with Outlook or Windows Mail (Vista). So far, we can synchronize music with Windows Media Player or other players that support for it.
What is your phone model? At least, there should be a Vista compatible software for your phone to be used in PC. Check your phone's website.
I sync my phone with Windows Mail because the updated software support for it (Vista). I can see Windows Mail (Contacts) in the updated software.

  • Windows Vista and Airport Express

I can connect my Airport Express to my wireless router via an ethernet cable and get up the configuration page - easy!
    Now for the difficult bit!
I cannot get Airport Admin Utility to recognise the Airport Express (base station in Apple Speak!) when I disconnect from the router.
Airport Express really sounds a great way to connect ITUNES to remote speakers etc but it is necessary to get it working with Windows Vista and get the wireless function working.Anybody sucessfully done it? Please only respond if you have managed to do this personally!

William - I am in a similar place.... I have an airport express running as an extension to my home wireless network. I have a TC that I use as my router. My macs can connect to my network (of course) but the windows vista laptop (sony vaio) does not...... HELP! Have you been able to get any answers??

  • Windows Vista and iTunes downloads

I have a new computer with Windows Vista and downloaded iTunes on it. My previous music iTunes library works fine, but when I try to play a recently downloaded song, I get a message that I am not authorized to play it on this computer. What does that mean? I already tried reinstalling everything and it did not help. Any other ideas?
    Thanks!

I suggest you post your message in the "iTunes for Windows" forum found at <http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=150>. It's a more appropriate place to find answers to your question.
    Good luck! bill

  • Windows Vista and FME

Seen some interesting behavior with Windows Vista and FME.
When watching the connection status of a live broadcast I get lots
    of empty full buffer dumps.
    #NSManager# (doLiveOnStatus:NetStream.Buffer.Full)
    #NSManager# (doLiveOnStatus:NetStream.Buffer.Empty)
I have seen this happen when using the On2 Flix encoder with
2.0.479 but not typically with FME. The only different variable is
Vista and the client is running it on his laptop.

Thanks for the reply. I actually got first hand use with it
on the clients machine. The problem is that FME gets cranky when
you drop packets and the client is using a wireless card to
    transmit the data.

  • Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only Boots to a black screen with a mouse cursor

Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only Boots to  a black screen with a mouse cursor after I installed Mcafee Internet Security.
Hi I installed 1of 3 McAfee Internet Security protections on my HP laptop a few weeks ago with no issues. I Have a Dell XPS 420 desk top with Windows Vista operating
system, it’s never had any issues, until 2 nights ago I installed McAfee Internet Security (detected incompatible files and will remove) pc now only boots up to a black screen with a mouse cursor, it will show the windows logo and a hash symbol floating around
the screen. Now 2 weeks ago I installed the same program on my Dell all in one desk top with Windows 7, the same issue happen but that pc has no screen activity, I tried a back to factory reboot on this one, still black screen.

    Hi,
Please install the compatible version of McAfee Internet Security:
    http://home.mcafee.com/store/internet-security
if you have startup issue, you can boot into Safe Mode to uninstall the problematic software to go back into Windows.
