Windows Vista Authorization Problem

I have a problem with Authorization - I recently upgraded my OS to Windows Vista, and when I next went into iTunes it said I needed to authorize my PC which I duly did. Even after successfully authorizing, it won't play my songs. When I try it just asks me to authorize again, which I do - it then tells me I've used 1 out of 5 authorizations (which is right), and then it doesn't play. When I click play, I go through the whole cycle again - it prompts me to authorize, I do, it tells me I've used 1 out of 5, and it doesn't play.
Is anyone able to help me?
Many thanks,
Chris

Same problem here. Upgraded to Vista Business. Opened iTunes. Clicked a song that I had purchased previously. It said I needed to authorize the computer. I did. Authorization successful (and my number of auth'd computers went up by one). Clicked the song again. Same dialog box came up, telling me to authorize the computer. I repeated the process to no avail.
It just won't recognize that it is authorized... songs won't play.

You may select how and whether Firefox updates, although like most software it may be sensible to keep it up-to-date, it is more likely to remain secure and compatible with other software whilst up to date.

  • Upgraded Window Vista-Itune Problem

    Please help!!!
I upgraded my OS to Windows Vista and now I cannot access Itunes. I get the following error message "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder"
Can someone please tell me how to correct this error? I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but not luck.
    Thanks
    Tonya

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Wrt54g3g windows vista DHCP problem

    Hi All,
I bought a wrt54g3g router to share my 3G internet at home. All is fine except that I just bought a Windows Vista Laptop, and it cannot obtain IP from the linksys DHCP server. I had no problems with XP at all.
I've tried to change registry entries and all sorts of things available on the net, but no luck.
At the begging not even the wired port was able to get an IP, but after disabling the "DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag" in the registry and setting up "DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle" to value 1 I've succeeded at least to get the wired link up. Is there something I missing in the settings of the router, or this one is just not compatible with Vista?
Any suggestions, ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Miro.

If that's the case, something may need to be setup in the Vista machine. No need to configure anything in the router for that to work.

  • Windows Vista Quicktime problems

    HI,
i have newest quicktime, and i have just bought Windows Vista for my PC. The problem is the picture, usually the HD trailers have amaizng picture when i ran them in quicktime on XP, but when i run the trailers on Vista, the picture is no way near as good as breaks up alot, anyone else have the same problem, or know how to fix it?

It's possible that Vista includes updated video card drivers.
Try using the same Control Panel to update yours.
Apple has already made a small "patch" for iTunes and Vista. Seems like there will many more from thousands of applications in the next few months.

  • Ati 9700 Windows Vista Driver Problem on a P10-792

I tried Windows Vista beta 5308 in my Toshiba P10-792 and i was unable to get graphics accelartion with Windows Vista graphics Driver for Ati 9700 , which is is built in P10-792.
    It reports error code 43.
After some research i found http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=268378&SiteID=1
Some people suggested to get the latest bios update for the laptop. I updated to the latest bios, but the problem still persists, is anyone experiencing the same problem ?
    Any help would be valuable.
    Thanks

    Hi
Usually you should use the Toshiba graphic drivers on the Toshiba notebooks.
I have found the description of the Error 34 on this Microsoft site:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310123#XSLTH3439121122120121120120
Error-Code 34: Windows cannot determine the settings for this device
Solution:: The device requires manual configuration
Well, the fact is that the Windows Vista is not official on the market and there are many test needed. Furthermore Toshiba doesnt proffer the graphic driver for Windows Vista at this time. In my opinion you have to wait for Toshiba graphic driver. Im sure that original Toshiba graphic drivers will work in the future.

  • Windows Vista Business problem download & install Adobe Reader 8.1

I tried to download Adobe Reader 8.1 for Windows Vista. The first time I left the check on the photoshop elements pkg. For some reason during the process I got a message Execution of Download failed "pase320_en_US.exe". I went back through and uncecked the download photoshop elements and I got through the whole download session - My Windows Vista security feature asked me several times to press "continue" if I wanted to really do this and I always said yes. It appeared to download fine - I watched the process and then it just seemed to disappear- no message at all. I can't find where the program ever go to my hard drive. Any ideas????????

it is probably downloading it to the Virtualized folder. I could waste alot of time explaining but just download and use Firefox to download and save it to your desktop. You should be able to install from there. Firefox is a better browser than IE anyway.
    Good Luck!

  • C6 Bluetooth to Windows Vista driver problems

While trying to connect my C6 to PC for the first time, Windows Vista starts asking for a driver  for a Bluetooth Peripheral Device.
Windows recognizes 4 such devices in total that need a driver.  As no installation CD is provided with the C6 phone and an online search yields no results, the installation can't be finalized and altough there is a Bluetooth connection established, no drivers means no services available that can use it.
Where can I find the drivers I need?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After a long nigth of tinkering with, I got Bluetooth working.
I first changed the standard microsoft bluetooth stack for Broadcom, but connecting to the C6  failed again. I then installed Bluesoleil. That got the bluetooth connection between PC en C6 working, but only from within the Bluesoleil software. I then removed Bluesoleil and when I tried to reconnect my C6 over Bluetooth, installation went  without a hitch.
@jakke: Connecting from within Ovi Suite failed too.

  • Windows Vista install problem

I own a copy of Windows XP from Virtual PC. I therefore qualify to purchase an upgrade copy of Vista, which I did. Since I am a Mac person I assumed that I would simply be asked, upon installation, to provide my old product ID. In the Microsoft world this does not happen. The install disc looks for the previous version. When it can't find one the install essentially stops. I was able to install Vista by ignoring the request for the product ID but then I could not Activate the copy. It works fine but it will cease to work in 30 days. Has anyone had experience with this type of thing? There should be some way around this type of thing. Reading Microsoft user posts it appears that clean installs can only be done from non-upgrade copies. I cannot install my copy of xp first since it does not have SP2 as part of it. I know that I can theoretically slipstream a copy but that seems like a lot of hassle.

    Hi,
Thanks for posting your solution. I had everything working beautifully in Boot Camp partition using VMware Fusion, but felt I needed VM's future tech support. In forum discussion and email support w/VM tech supp. learned that VM doesn't support Vista Home because MS doesn't support it through 3rd party, so I used Home's upgrade advisor and found that the only easly instll was upgrading to Ultimate. Tried to install Ultimate upgrade and got message that partition was too small. Long story short, had to erase Macbk Pro's HD and reinstall from Time Machine, which worked great. Boot Camp finally allowed new partition and I used your solution to install. However, I had to load the Home because Boot Camp couldn't find drivers on the Ultimate upgrade. Still, your work around helped. Problems I'm now encountering is that VM can't find the Boot Camp Partition as it did previously. Any ideas there? I can find the Boot Camp drive, but the "open" button stays grayed out. When I go to VM's HD it says 0 GG which doesn't make sense. I'll post a new topic, but I did appreciate your posting.

  • Vista Authorization Problem...revisited

I am having trouble playing the music that i bought on the iTunes Store.
Every tim I try to play my music, it asks me to authorize it, and, even after I've authorized it, it asks me again!
Yes, I DID read the Vista compatibility issues bit, AND I downloaded the repair tool (didn't work), I reinstalled iTunes (that ALSO didn't work), then I ran the repair tool AGAIN (still didn't work).
The tool gets to the Software License Agreement, and after I accept, something (windows or tool, not sure which) gives me a notification that tells me that the tool will fix authorization errors for iTunes. After I clock "OK", nothing happens. The notification disappears, and...absolutely nothing happens.

I think you're gonna have to wait for the new version of iTunes, mate. I'm having some minor issues, too, like video that won't play properly, or the **** thing crashing every 10 minutes.
I just want to know when this alleged new version is going to come out. Apple hasn't said a peep in many weeks, since they said one was coming "in a few weeks". An update would be nice.

  • Windows Vista Networking Problem

I have a wireless network at home and I have never experienced problems to transfer files from my iMac to PC´s running Windows XP and viceversa.
Now I have added a note book running Vista Home Premium and since then I have problems to transfer files from my iMac to that notebook. The rest of the network continues working fine.
Sometimes it looks like a problem of the size of the file to be transfered, sometimes the message indicate that Vista could not read part of the file.
From the Vista notebook to the iMac there is not problem at all.
    Any advice??
iMac PPC   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hello Nescom. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'm afraid I really don't have an answer for you but I can offer my experiences with large files transfer with Vista. My current home network is a combination of Windows PC, Windows Servers, and Macs. Large file transfers between most of them have relatively the same performance, except when transferring large files from the Vista PC to any other OS. It is demonstrably slower. Interestingly, transfers between Vista machines does not appear to be a problem. I understand that this is a known problem by Microsoft and was supposed to be fixed with Vista SP1.
So the problem might not be your network, but Vista itself. I'm curious if you have this problem when transferring large files to another Vista device?

  • Installing "Update for Windows Vista (KB936824)" Problems

If anyone can help me out with this, I'd be so grateful.
Last week I installed 7.3 on my computer without a problem. It worked great, until last night, when I got a popup saying that I needed to install a plugin type thing for my Vista computer so my iPod wouldn't crash if I unplugged it. Okay, fine. I follow the instructions, restarted the system and then went back into iTunes. Only it wouldn't play any music.
The program itself isn't frozen, I can access menus, help, etc. just fine. When I go to play a song, it just stays at 0.00. It's not my soundcard as sound works fine in other programs, so it's just itunes. I even ejected my iPod and the iPod seems to be okay.
I uninstalled the plugin, recent Windows updates, and iTunes 7.3 and installed 7.2 instead and the same thing happens. So what did I do wrong?

Nicely done! I hadn't thought to check how that control panel was working in Vista yet. (Sorry about that.)
However, when I shut down all iTunes related programs (Quicktime included) and restarted, it worked!
Shutting down QuickTime may have been the trick here. It handles audio playback for itunes, so the changes you made might not have been registering for QuickTime until it restarted QuickTime. (QuickTime can be a bit like that on XP at least.)

  • Windows vista and problem with association .swf files

I have win vista 32bit. Downloaded and install adobe flash player from adobe site. I have some file with .swf extension but can not get to work with adobe flash player 10.1r52. Ii can asociated ths type of file with adobe flash player. Where is the adobe flash player after installation_in which folder? Confused. Help.

Hi, The Flash files are at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
Also, if you used IE to Install Flash Player, then in Tools, Manage add ons you also need the Shockwave Flash Object,
the ActiveX Control and it must be Enabled. This is Installed when Flash Player is Installed.
If you are using Firefox or another non-IE browser, then in the plugins, there will be a SWF (version number of Flash Player) and it must be Enabled.
    Hope this helps,
