Windows Vista Basic - 64bit Version

Hi,
My laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Basic - I have upgraded my memory to 4GB, however, due to the fact that I am running 32bit Windows Vista Basic, I cannot access all 4GB of memory (only 3GB). Is there a way to upgrade to 64bit Windows Vista? can I purchase a copy through Lenovo or do I have to purchase a copy off Microsoft (through the retail channels)?

I was not aware home basic came with a 64 bit version. If you are thinking of going 64 bit, I would at least think about upgrading to Business. If Home Premium has 64, then that would be a fine version also. As for obtaining it, contact Lenovo and inquire about upgrading, then contact Microsoft and see who has the better offer. It may be tough to find a 64 bit version in store, but you can most certainly order it from one of the two.

There are still retail packs of LR 4 to be found out there - for example, on EBay. It's just important to be careful whether it's a full version, an upgrade, or a student + teacher version. And to be certain it's genuine, and has a serial number which has never been activated before. The serial number that you get with that, should work with any 4.x version of LR, on either MacOS or Windows. And it will almost certainly be heavily discounted compared with the previous price direct from Adobe.
Of course the other way is to upgrade to Windows 7 SP1, which should also be available discounted, and thus eke out the life of an older PC (I personally would not go to Win8 in such a case). Maybe pick up some RAM also, if that's a problem, provided you can do so cheaply (since that will be simply thrown away in due course, when you get a newer PC),
Using LR4 instead of LR5 you do miss out on a few nice features, as well as potentially the Raw support and lens profiles for more recent camera equipment.
LR 4 is obsolete as far as Adobe is concerned. They will not sell a Serial Number for it.

Installing EBS R12 on Windows Vista Basic

I am trying to install EBS R12 media pack on my computer having Windows Vista Basic.
I could have the installation pass 2 steps out of 5.
But while performing the third step, it is failing with the following error:

XL Reporter with Windows Vista Basic and Excel 2007

Hi there,
I am facing a problem with my SAP Business One edition. I am using XL Reporter with my Windows XP Professional Edition and Microsoft Office 2003 and/or 2007, and it works perfectly, but when i try to connect my laptop, loaded with Windows Vista Basic edition and Microsoft Office 2007, it does not support.
When i try to add IXXLReporter.dll in Excel 07, it does not work, it neither shows me any error or any confirmation message. When i try to run XL Reporter from SAP, it starts process and hangs.
Can anybody tell me perfectly that whether SAP B1 is compatible with Vista Home Edition or not ...???
If it works, what changes i have to make in my SAP or Vista or Excel, please inform me soon. . .

Compatibility of Quicktime and Windows Vista 64 Bit Version

I am currently using Win Vista Home Premium 32 bit. However, I'd like to try the 64 bit version (which I have).
I see the latest version of Itunes is compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit versions. However, that does not appear to be the case with Quicktime. Can anyone confirm this?
If Quicktime is not compatible with Vista 64 bit, is the so called Quicktime Alternative a viable solution?

He recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop that's running Windows Vista Basic. He has a Dell desktop computer at home as well that's running Windows XP. I had him purchase a Linksys WRT54GL router. We want to network the laptop running Windows Vista Basic and the desktop running Windows XP. Is there anything we should be aware of? Anything to know before hand that will help the process go smoother? Will I face any issues being that his new laptop is running Windows Vista Basic and his desktop is running Windows XP? No not very much ... if you are using wired connection then make sure that the IP address on Local Area Connection should be 192.168.1.X ...... try to ping the Gateway address 192.168.1.1 ..... then 4.2.2.2 & at last yahoo.com....

No current Photoshop supports this configuration.
Photoshop CS5 was the last version of Photoshop to support Windows Vista.
Photoshop Elements 12 was the last version of Photoshop Elements to support Vista as well.
We no longer offer Photoshop CS5 or Elements 12.
You might look at Amazon to see if you can get either product listed above. Just be careful when purchasing, make sure you know who you're buying from!

Need help replacing Windows Vista Basic with XP Pro on T500

Okay guys...My vista basic is not sustaining itself much longer so I want to get rid of it and downgrade to XP...but there seem to be a lot of problem/obstacle/issue...
I can't seem to restore my factory content from the hard drive and I don't have enough cd to copy the reserved factory partition...I'm thinking if I don't touch on that partition during the xp install, is there a program I can download to have my xp access that partition afterwards?
I downloaded all the drivers and lenovo software from the website; what I don't have is the SP2 slipstream...instead I have a original XP "gold" but I just can't seem to burn a slipstream into a bootable one so I'm wondering if the original "gold" wil do...?
and since this is XP installation I've been reading the access help article on the the installation and the Matrix storage driver..which doesn't make much sense since it seem to refer to driver file on C: while scrapping Vista will surely wipe it off....
currently i'm living with Vista in safe mode only and have no clue what to do...
can people please guide me through what should I do here...Thanks.

As for Windows to access the factory partition, it is always hidden from Windows, the OS has no way to retrieve it even though it is visible in disk manager. The ability to create RnR discs is only accessible on factory preload so you will have no such privilege on clean install.

OK, you're looking for a webcam.
I admit I don't know what's supported by Vista64, but I have a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and am very happy with it. Since it's USB Video Class (UVC) compliant it may even have drivers built into Vista (not sure of this, I don't run Vista on any of my machines, just XP and Linux.)
Do some research on Logitech models and you should find some with good Vista64 support.

there is a good chance that this can be related to bad contact in USB lead.. e.g not enough power from IPOD to PC so that pc cannot recognise it. Where I work I get alot of USB devices on pc's that are not recognised and most of the time it is the connection to the device that is not good enough because the flat end of the USB adapter has been gradually bent over time just slightly and now contact is not good. It can also be todo with drivers or If you are using it through a USB hub.
so if it is not working through USB hub try direct. also try in back of PC as these Ports or direct access to main board to pc and would be less trouble some if there was a voltage loss from mainboard in pc to front of unit.

Videos unwatchable under Windows Vista and current versions of iTunes/QT

I know this has been brought up before, but all of the previous suggestions do not apply to my situation. Ever since upgrading to iTunes 7.2, no iTunes or QuickTime videos play properly. The audio generally works just fine, but the video is jumpy and extremely sporadic.
I have two hard drives, one is SATA the other is PATA - doesn't matter which one the video file is on. I have tried all of the suggestions in the FAQ such as disabling Direct3D video acceleration and running in Safe Mode (GDI only), but no change in behavior.
This appears to only be affecting newer video files, because I can still play my old Podcast videos without a problem (prior to the problematic iTunes release), but anything downloaded after that gives the video issues. I get the same thing with videos like the new iPhone demo video as well.
I am running Windows Vista Business (32 bit), with the following system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2 GB RAM
ATI X1950XTX w/ 512 MB
160 GB PATA HDD (primary - apps and OS)
200 GB SATA HDD (secondary - data)
Anything useful would be greatly appreciated as this is becoming a very painful ordeal.

This is NVidia's reply indicating that there is no issue with their SATA drivers, and this has been reported back to Apple.
Now, I did find that when I put one of my video podcast files on the PATA drive, it appeared to play ok, but when I tried to play the .mov iPhone video from the PATA drive, it still had the same video issues, which tells me it has nothing to do with PATA vs SATA.

I just instaled firefox 4 on my Acer netbook with Windows Vista Basic. Now the typing is very slow, ie. cannot keep up with my typing speed, which is not fast. Any ideas?

I have an Acer netbook, with 2GB ram and Vista Basic. I installed firefox 4 and now the machine cannot keep up with my typing. The letters are delayed appearing on the screen in all apps, but especially in email, and words just get lost if I type too fast, and I am not a fast typist. Should I remove firefox 4?

Have you tried updating your software? The issue with the keys will either be a software issue or an issue with your hardware, if you're on the newest software try re-installing it. It's very simple to do using the desktop software, if this does not work it seems to be a hardware issue, meaning repair or replacement is needed.
Also, updating/re-installing your software should also resolve any slow/freezing issues and hopefully stop your dialling problem.
