1. Make sure the printer is recognised by the base station.
2. Select 'Add a new printer' in Windows
3. Select 'Local Printer' in the dialog box (auto detect and install
should be off), click next.
4. Choose 'Create a new port' and "Standard TCP/IP Port'. Click next.
5. For the printer IP address, enter the address of the base station 10.0.1.1. The port name will be filled automatically. Click next.
6. For the device type, choose 'Hewlet Packard Jet Direct', then click Finish.
Choose your printer from the list and follow the rest of the prompts to install and configure the driver

Windows Vista can't find the Firefox.exe program on my machine but it is right there in program files. Windows won't run it. After clicking on the short cut icon and after a delay I get an error message saying that windows can't find it. What can I do to fix this problem?

    Hey merodi,
I dont fully understand your problem here,
    1. Did your computer shut down or 'die' or did you save and then you cant find it?
    2. Have you tried looking in spotlight (little magnifying glass up the corner)
    3. Have you tried opening the program again? In word and pages, if the program exited forcefully, opening it again will restore the document.

  • Can't Print from Windows Vista Notebook to Printer installed in Mac Mini

I have a home network that is connected to the internet by DSL. My Printer Xerox Phaser 3115 is installed to the Mac Mini.
From my Vista Notebook, I can see the printer shared by my Macmini. However, I can't print coz the printer says "access denied". I installed this Bonjour for Windows in order to print but it says "No Bonjour Printers are available".
    Please help me! Thanks!

On Windows, after either method of setup, change the driver (on PC) to Apple Color LaserWriter. Apple print queues expect postscript as input.
If this is unsatisfactory, you can create a RAW queue on the Mac (only for sharing the printer, because it will have no driver associated):

  • HELP! I NEED TO CONNECT WINDOWS VISTA AND MY MAC TO AIRPORT EXTREME !!!!!!!

    *Im getting frustrated !*
    Specs:
I just bought an airport extreme (802.11n)
    Mac os X 10.5.4 & Windows Vista
I want to connect the airport wirelessly to my mac and some other wireless devices but also connect it through my D-link DSL-302G internet modem. So what i exactly want to do is airport via ethernet cable to DSL modem then DSL modem via USB to my windows vista PC.
Problem: There is only one ethernet plug on both DSL modem and airport extreme. On my windows vista i can't figure out how to use the internet using the USB cable.
By the way, my windows PC DOES not have a wireless card.
Since this also associates with windows --> So if you cant help me with the windows side of things, at least give me a link .. :D:D:D:D:D

Sounds like you've got an Airport Express, not an Airport Extreme!
The Extreme has 4 ethernet ports, and would do exactly what you want - not sure about the Express, as I've never used one.
Try posting a new thread, asking about sharing an internet connection using an Airport Express.

  • Connecting a hard-wired Windows Vista machine locks up my Airport Extreme N

I just installed a new Airport Extreme 802.11n.
    I have 3 computers...
    1. Hard-wired Mac Pro
    2. Wifi connected Powerbook
    3. Windows Vista machine--works with Wifi, but I can't plug it in without locking up the modem
I'm using DHCP with a comcast connection.
Everything works great until I plug in the Windows Vista machine. This immediately locks up the router and prevents internet access on all hardwired machines (wifi still works). It disappears from the Airport Utility and needs to be unplugged and reset to reappear.
Obviously this has something to do with the IP address assignment and DHCP.
What settings need to be changed so that I can have both my Mac Pro and Windows Vista machine hard-wired?

Hello LeeMI. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Just to make sure, your network configuration, with the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), should look something like the following:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > /[WAN port] AEBS /[LAN port] > (Ethernet cable) > /[Ethernet port] Main computer ... is this correct?

  • Windows Vista Home Premium Computer Doesn't Connect to Airport Extreme's Hard Drive

I have a hard drive connected to an Airport Extreme.  The hard drive is recognized by the Windows computer; that is a dialog box appears that states 'The Airport Disk became available'.  But when I attempt to supply a password it tells me "Could not connect to the disk.  Make sure netBIOS is enabled and try again (53)."
The hard drive connected to the Airport Extreme is 500Gb and formatted as FAT32.  The hard drive has its own power source.  There are no spaces in the hard drive's name or in the Airpot Extreme's name.  I've assigned WORKGROUP as the workgroup on both the Airport Extreme and the Windows Vista comptuer.  I've enabled netBIOS for the TCP/IPv4 connection.
The vista computer is connected to the Airport Extreme via an ethernet cable; the cable is connected to a LAN slot of the Airport Extreme.
    All help is appreciated.

Sounds like you are on the right track but I will have to say that I am very sorry but I am out of ideas - you are getting way out of my experience level - and I have to apologize about my previous post - I spelled Tesserax name wrong - you need help from one of the high level participants - I answered your orignal post because I have had sharing issues with Vista and thought that I could help - having said all that, I just thought of a last resort suggestion - make sure that your hard drive works when connected directly to your computer and then reset your Extreme and start from scratch - if that doesn't work then you might just have an incompatible setup - also if you wait a while and reword your question with your new findings, maybe a more experienced participant will respond - good luck.

  • Error 2330, Windows Vista - Can't uninstall or Reinstall ITunes

Itunes was working fine for quite awhile, but now when I access the store to download another song the store shows up but almost immediately blanks out to a white screen with only header info on it, no details.
When Itunes starts up, I get a message saying that there is a problem with the installation and CD downloads will not work.
I have tried reinstalling Itunes and Quicktime from the apple website. Also, uninstalling both from the Windows control settings. QT gets uninstalled and reinstalled fine. I get error 2330 with no other information when trying to reinstall or uninstall Itunes.
Have tried clearing out the TEMP folder and also doing selective startup as directed on the apple help tips. Still no luck.
Does anyone have suggestions how to resolve the 2330 error and why I am getting it?
    THANK YOU !!

I had this same issue with the iTunes store loading then going to a blank white screen straight after. I then checked for updates, installed everything it told me to (Safari, Quicktime, iTunes). However after everything installed it cut my internet connection. I was able to browse the internet for about a minute before I completely lost my internet connection.
I called my router manufacturer, they could not resolve my issue as the other PC's could access the internet so I knew it was iTunes/Safari/Quicktime. I did a system restore (I am using Windows Vista), that did not work. I searched on the other PC for help and found somewhere to uninstall network adaptors under the device manager. That just took away all my applications that pointed towards the internet so I did another system restore to bring them back, but this however fixed my issue. I did have to re-access my router from my computer by prompting it to reconnect to my ISP and then I got my internet back.
But, I can't access my iTunes or listen to my music.

  • P1005 Windows 7 can't print from remote PC

    Very strange issue.
Windows 7 computers. All HP compaqs. Printer P1005. Driver just downloaded (version 20090918).
No problem to print from the host PC
From the remote PC. Windows 7 Pro with 3 local account.  After lot of issues I'm now able to print on using the administrator account. However the 2 others accounts can't print.  Everytime the print dialog should come on the screen Windows 7 report an error and application crash (even printing a test page).   In an application if I default another shared printer (deskjet 5940), the print dialog come on, then I select the P1005 in the dropdown and got the error again.  Deskjet have no issue on all accounts.
To install on the admin account I did the following:
       - deinstall the P1005
       - decompressed the install app on the HD
      - Add a printer, select a local printer on USB, and manual selection of the drivers. printed without problem (with printer connected locally)
     - added a printer, selected the network one, added it and printed without issue (yes I switch back the printer to be on the shared one)
I tried the same tricks on the others accounts but still crashing when printing
I tried to upgrade the 2 others account to Admin role, no luck same issue.
I have exhausted. sounds this printer is not very compatible with Windows 7.
PS. my windows xP remote PC is able to print through the Windows 7 host without issue.

If it is not wireless it is USB connected.  So you need to choose USB connected and let the program do it's thing.   Are you trying to share the printer from the desktop to the laptop?  If yes, just go to Add Printer and follow the instruction.  Make sure File and Print Sharing is enabled on the desktop.

  • Windows XP can't see my Airport Extreme

Was given an airport extreme to replace my old d-link wireless router, which stereotypically died.
I have a D-Link Airplus G+ wireless card, and cannot fathom how to make my computer see the airport.
Airport is plugged into broadband, it's green light is glowing happily. Airport utility comes up blank. Do I need to adjust the settings for my wireless card, which also scans and finds no networks?

  • Deskjet 5550, Windows Vista, and borderless printing

I tried searching for this issue regarding my printer, but did not find it.  I apologize in advance if it has already been solved.
I own/use a Deskjet 5550 to print my digital photos.  Unfortunately, I am unable to get borderless prints.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, Service Pack 2
I am printing onto HP's Premium Photo Paper, glossy, 4 x 6.5 inches (has the tab on one side)
Under Control Panel I click on printers, highlight the 5550, right-click properties, and under the About tab it displays: "hp deskjet 5550 series (HPA) (61.53.25.9)"  Then it lists about 27 files in the Driver Files window.
    Method 1:
    1) From My Computer I go to the folder where the picture is located.
    2) I double-click the picture and click Print, Print...
    3) In the following window I choose Printer: hp deskjet 5550 series (HPA), Paper size: Photo 4x6in. (tab), and Paper Type: HP Premium Photo Paper, Glossy
    4) I next click on Options, then Printer Properties to verify these settings, as well as to adjust the Print quality, if necessary.
    Method 2:
I've also tried using HP Photosmart Essentials 3.5, but that hasn't worked either.  In fact, when I choose a picture to print and click on the Printer Settings tab, I find an option for Borderless printing, and the user can click on either Yes or No.  Yes is greyed out for me, meaning I cannot click on it, and it is instead stuck on No.
Using either method, I still end up with a white border around three sides of the picture.
I was able to do borderless printing when I was running Windows XP, so I am kind of stumped as to why it isn't doing it anymore.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

There are a few things to check:
Print a self test page as shown here.  You should have patterns of black, cyan (blue), magenta and yellow.  If cyan does not print fine in this page then move to step 2, otherwise skip to step 3.
If cyan does not print in the above test then gently blot the nozzles of the color cartridge on a damp tissue.  There should be a stripe of cyan, magenta and yellow.  If cyan is missing here then the cartrdige is defective.  If the cartridge is new and a genuine HP (not a refill) check the warranty expiration as shown here.  If the cartrdige is in warranty then contact HP for a replacement.  If the cartrdige is beyond its two year warranty then replace it with a fresh cartrdige.  When buying new cartridges look for the "isntall by" date on the package.  I would look for a package with at least six months of remaining time before the :install by" date, which would have a year of remaining warranty.
If cyan printed OK in the test page but not when printing from the computer then it is probably a driver issue.  In this case I would disconnect the printer, delete the 5550 from the printers folder and then download and install the driver from HP's site here.

  • My pc on windows vista can not install driver for my Iphone 4s on 6.0.1

I can do everything in itunes but the windows driver can not be installed.

I too have experienced the Logitech s715i error message stating something like, the accessory is not a supported device of the iPhone. The speakers will charge my phone but will not "connect" to play music. I have an iPhone 4S running version 6.1 (10B142).
I too have contacted Logitech for support and am awaiting a reply.
Can we get some help over here?

  • Windows XP can't print to MacMini OSX 10.4.9 Tiger shared HP printer

    Hello All,
I have a MacMini running OS X 10.4.9 with an HP Office Pro L7780 All-in-one installed via wireless. I can print from the Mini but I can not print from my Windows XP laptop. I do have sharing enabled, the printer is installed on the Windowx XP laptop, etc. everything looks fine.
When I try to print from the Windows laptop it thinks it's printer, but nothing happens on the actual printer. If I look at the print queue on the Mini I never see the print job in the 'active' window, but I do see the print job in the 'completed' window.
    Any ideas? I'm stumped.
Oh and I did try resetting the printing system, I deleted and added the printer on the Mini and Windows XP a few times, I rebooted both machines.

On the XP laptop, try using a generic PostScript driver instead of the L7780 Windows driver. If there is no generic option, try using the HP LJ5000PS.

  • Can anyone explain why airport connects but no Net connection?

greetings all, i have a small and what i hope is an easy problem to solve..
my parents have wi-fi as well as my brother in his home, all i do on my macbook pro is turn airport on and it connects seemlessly..and i'm on google in 2 sec's...
but WHEN i go to my brothers house.. airport finds the network and jumps on it instantly and i have full service strenght. but no matter what i can't connect to any web pages,, they time out and i get a msg stating that i'm not connected to the internet... i eve tried my email prgram and nothing..all other net app's fail too..
how can this be if airport is finding the network? neither my parents nor brother have their network protected i.e. no WAP or WEP ect... so what is the deal?
even tho i'm connected on airport its like i'm not.. my brother has linksy's router and his sony viao jumps on it wit no problem at all!
anyone have any ideas or what i can do?
    oNe
p.s. at my home which is an apartment there are several "open" networks and again the macbook finds them and jumps on them wit no problem... but i stick to my plug in net connection for security reasons...can't trust open networks.. sides my parents and brother i guess..
macbook pro 17" pimp ish   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   it came stock..

I wish that was the answer, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I have a Linksys wireless router in my office with no other users and no security provisions installed. Most days, I can bring my Laptop in and connect right away. Other days, like today, it simply will not connect, despite having a full four bars showing. If I go into Internet Connect, it confirms that I am connected to Linksys. However, when it fails to open any Internet page, I get the terrible message "You Are Not Connected to the Internet." I am then prompted to open "Network Diagnostics" to solve the problem, which it never does. Obviously, someone needs to introduce "Internet Connect" to "Network Diagnostics" since they clearly have never met.
I have experienced this situation in other locations, so it clearly is not limited to the one router. While I am ordinarily a big Mac fan, this problem drives me stark raving mad. Being a simple person, I just cannot fathom how a computer can be connected to the Internet, but...not...connected...to...the...Internet. Since I don't own any firearms, shooting my computer is out of the question and I don't really want to hurl it into the ocean. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

How in blazings did you install Vista on your MBP?
Did you use BootCamp? Paralells? Something else? I
heard that it cannot be installed with any of these...
I used bootCamp, but I had a problem after full installation
( windows vista was complaining about a missing file), then I read in some post that if I deleted the 200 MB partion (that shows up at the begining of the vista istallation) I would be able to dual boot, so I did that. Then after booting a second time and using the recovery option on windows vista. It worked. There is a downside to doing that though( boot camp won't be able to make your hard drive one partion any more). If you want to make your hard drive one partion you would have to use the disk utility and reinstall tiger( may be there is some other solution. Don't know)
Some of the Mac drivers that I burnt using boot camp worked but not all of them, but over all I had no problems after installation ( wireless worked from the first time)
I still don't have the eject button working yet( but I don't really need it)

  • Windows Vista can't log onto wifi network with Airport Extreme

Several problems with our network. 1. My sister's new Gateway laptop sees the network I set up from my Mac using my airport extreme, but cannot log on to it even when I removed password/encryption - even when I entered 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 in my DNS server fields. 2. the reason I even did the above is because although my Mac (Titanium G4 Powerbook previously running 10.2.8) could get on the network through the airport, I could not get to any site Google related until I read about the DNS entries as a work around. Yes the work around works but what's the real problem/fix? Regarding probem 1., some advice I'd gotten was to update the firmware on my base station as it might be a compatability issue with that and Vista. I begrudgingly upgraded to Tiger 10.4.6 then downloaded the patch to 10.4.10 (where I am now) which did lead me to an upgrade for my airport (5.3 to 5.6 now). Still, Windows cannot get on to the unsecure network!! What the heck do I need to do?!

I hope I may have found how to make the vista machines get to your Time Capsule. On the vista system go to network and sharing center. Then click on status, then you will see a window pop up with wireless network info. Click on Wireless properties and then click the advance tab at the bottom, a box without a check mark needs to be checked which says "connect if not broadcasting". I hope I got that right...try it, it's seemed to help for today at least.
