Windows Vista home and Netweaver 7.0 installation
Hi Experts,
I am trying to install SAP Netweaver AS trail version downloaded from sdn in my laptop. Laptop(Windows vista home premium OS) is in very good configurtation but unfortunately i have not succeeded with that.
Can some one guide me like step by step procedure for installing this 7.0 trail version and will Vista really supports this installtion?
I guess at 16 step it has thrown error and proceeded further. What actually i needed an help is .....
How can i install other tools? Is it require to install max db and other tools while going to the respective folders and hav to run (OR) is it enough if I start installing with the SAPINST file alone while is in the master folder?

SAP NW can not be installed on MS Vista. Please try to change the OS to MS Server 2000/MS Server 2003.

Howto: Dual-Booting Vista Home and Solaris
Hello.
I searched a lot of forums about this but found nothing. I finally managed to install Solaris on a computer running Windows Vista Home and post my experiences here for people having the same problem.
Known problem: When the MBR of a hard disk is altered (e.g. installing additional operating systems) Windows Vista will not boot any longer.
Reason: Windows Vista uses a checksum of the MBR. If the checksum is not correct it does not boot.
How can you install Solaris anyway?
I did it using the following steps (requires some C programming skills and a C compiler for Windows):
a) Make a copy of the MBR (e.g. by booting the Solaris DVD into the single user shell) onto an USB stick:
dd if=/dev/rdsk/cxtxdxp0 of=/usbdisk/origmbr bs=512 count=1b) Create the Solaris partition and install Solaris
c) Make a copy of the new MBR. This is done the same way as step "a)". Replace "origmbr" by "newmbr".
d) Restore the original MBR. This is done like step "a)" but "if=" and "of=" must be turned around (of=/dev ... if=/usbdisk ...).
(This causes the Solaris partition to be removed; you will not see it in fdisk any more; but do not panic - the data is not deleted)
e) Reboot - Vista will be booted
f) Write the new MBR to the disk. This is where you need a C program. The program must be executed using administrator rights:

}I also took bytes 0...0x1BD from the original MBR and only bytes 0x1BE...0x1FF (actual partition information) from the new MBR because I heared that Vista does not work with foreign MBR boot loaders.
g) Go to the computer administration (right-click of "Computer" in the start menu) and "administration" and go to the volume manager. Press F5 - now the volume manager will see the Solaris partition. Make any partition the active partition and change the active partition back to the Windows partition - now the checksum of the MBR will be re-calculated.
I do not know if this step is necessary because "diskpart.exe" should also re-calculate the checksum.
h) Start diskpart.exe with administrator rights. Make the Solaris partition (containing Grub) the active partition - now the computer boots GRUB and Vista can be booted.
Note:
The boot information in the system control as well as bcdedit.exe will only work if the Windows partition is active. Maybe the system recovery will also not work.

The main problem is not the fact that GRUB does not boot - this could be easiely solved by overwriting the MBR by the original MBR (so changing from Windows to another OS must be done using a bootable CD or disk).
The problem is that creating an additional partition is not possible. I think if Microsoft wanted to "solve" this "problem" (forbid other OSs to be booted) they were not able to do this because many modern BIOSes create a hard disk partition for their data (e.g. hard disk encryption, finger print stuff etc.). Windows would either not be able to boot on such machines (not wanted by Microsoft) or not be able to recognize that another OS is installed (that can be booted at least by using a boot CD).
I think that Microsoft themself have no interest in forbidding other OSs to be booted. There are a lot of machines running Windows only as secondary OS (e.g. in airspace industry). Microsoft is not interested in not being able to sell a newer version of Windows to owners of these machines.

iTunes opens after I click OK on the above message however I cannot do anything within the app its like Windows it preventing it from running.

I tried what the diagnostic told me to do, and repaired the installation. I was able to burn a CD in iTunes, but after I restarted, the drives have disappeared again! Here's the diagnostic info now:

Windows 7 upgrade and existing Windows Vista Home Premium license...?
Hi,
As per Lenovo's scheme, after applying for Windows 7 64 bit upgrade and upon receiving the installer DVD, do I need to compulsorily install it?
Does "upgrade" here really mean that the day when the Windows 7 DVD was issued on my name, my existing Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit license will become Invalid or get expired? Or I can continue using my existing installed Windows Vista on my Laptop and install the received copy of Windows 7 as and when I want or even don't install it on my Laptop, if happy using existing Windows Vista only?

I just found instructions to run "BCDEdit" and the results were the following so it looks like the "Boot Manager" is on S while the "Boot Loader" is on C (Whatever that means)

Windows Vista Home Version and Adobe Flash Player 10.
I use Windows Vista Home Version and I am finding it difficult to download Adobe Flash Player 10.
It appears to have been downloaded but on examining Control Panel, I discovered that its content is empty (no size is aportioned to it).
Most importantly, I am unable to play videos that require adobe flash player.I understand Vista is a 32 bit.
IE 8 is what I have but I would consider IE 9 if that would be necessary.
Just a bit more update. I just tried to download Adobe FP 10 again with the following results, again:
The Adobe Download Manager windows shows:
FP 10.3 Status as 100% "Installation Pending".
FP 10.2 Status as 100% " Instatlling Application"
and that will go one forever but never really actually installs anything and just keeps cycling through the "Add to Download" e.g. "Fanbase", "Times Reader"
and "Adobe Air" (none of which I want added to the download), and the download and installation shows as 100%.

According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted. I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar

what do i do when trying to install itunes to my windows vista home basic computer and a message appears saying

You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:

And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts. -

Sam.In this Forum it appears that Windows 2000 with SP4 will work as well (haven't tried it).
If you've got VISTA you could consider running the trial on a Virtual Machine. Parallels, and vmware offer commercial vm products for generating Virtual machines whilst Microsoft (Virtual Pc2007) and VBOX offer Free virtualisation products. Vmware also provides a FREE vmware server virtualisation product --this works fine as well although no multi-media support. However if you only need the Virtual Machine to run the Netweaver trial then that's no big deal.
As I've posted elsewhere a Win XP pro Virtual Machine using only 512MB of RAM will give quite adequate performance of the ABAP trial. Don't even THINK of the Java edition unless you've got at LEAST 2GB - even on a Virtual Machine.

SAP B1 8.8 installation issue in windows vista home premium

I have installed SAP 8.8 in windows server 2008.and upgraded to patch level 15.
It is working properly.
But one of my client's laptop is having Vista Home premium.
While installing 8.8 client setup in the clients laptop , it is showing error as ' Installation failed. '
Can any body suggest me whether Vista Home premium is suitable to SAP 8.8

I have Turned off the UAC in settings.Also turned off the Windows Firewall.
Then started the Installation by Using run as administrator.
The Installation was succesful.
But when entering the Usercode and password , it is throwing an error as " Internal Error "
ANy suggestions experts.

You haven't mentioned which version of PSE. If it is PSE 13, that requires a minimum of windows 7.

Cannot install itunes 11.1.3 to my windows vista home premium 32-bit. After it finishes the download that it verifies the file I get a message saying "this file cannot be downloaded". Hi there. I have a new PC from HP model T3765.it and I am NOT able to use my iPod nor to install iTunes for more than two months: my PC says "you have to repair iTunes to make it working with Windows Vista". I followed the instructions (Control Panel --> Programs --> iTunes --> repair) but no result. My PC has Windows Vista Home Edition. Does anyone know what to do? Is there a way to sort this out or do I have to wait for a new iTunes release?

Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
We'd better check on that, kris. If you enable iTunes in your Windows firewall, does that help with your connection? See the following document for instructions:
