Windows Vista - iPod Nano charges, setup wizard will not start

Help!
I have a new PC, and it's Windows Vista.
I have connected my iPod, and it has charged up, but the setup wizard has not come on?
How do I save music to my iPod? My PC recognises it as an iPOD, and I can drag and drop things into it as though it is a storage device. However, my iPod does not recognise this music or photo's when I turn it on and try to play stuff? There are no instructions in the box. It's brand new from argos! Never had one before, so don't know what to do.
Please help.

Make sure that you have an official copy of Firefox. Do a clean install BUT make sure you do not use any offer to remove personal data or you will destroy bookmarks and settings. If you have problems try to give the exact error messages so paste them into your reply of attach screen shots.

- After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod? If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
- If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:

Windows Vista iPod Nano Issues

I just bought an iPod Nano 8GB today and when I tried to connect it to my Windows Vista System after installing iTunes, I get an "Add new Hardware" wizard asking me to install the driver for the iPod which obviously doesn't work.
Of course, I've tried the 5Rs several times and none of them work. Asking here is my last resort.
I know there are currently issues with Vista but clearly this isn't one of those listed under the article on the site. So I was wondering if this is only specific to my PC.

Windows Vista Ipod Nano drivers??

When I connect my iPod nano 4gb to my new laptop, with iTunes 7 installed, it tells me it needs to install drivers and insert CD...but I dont have the CD!
Can anyone give me a link for these drivers at all, or give me adivice on how to get around this?
I've previously read a suggestion to manually search for drivers by specifying 2 distinct folders - System32 I think, and also going through Control Panel, Devices, Ipod, then selecting different options for updating drivers.
Nothing works yet!!!

Something is going on with your Nano if Vista doesn't see it anymore. Did you use device manager and try to uninstall your Nano? Perhaps this will work. Once uninstalled, the next time you plug it in, Vista will see the Nano as a new device and install the proper USB drivers.

Well its surprising to know that! But even have an ipod shuffle 3rd gen n dint face any problem like that. FYI no cd comes with the ipod jus take ur ipod to an apple exoert n he will solve ur problem .

Have you doubled check for this Artist's songs from under the Songs category on your iPod? If you can find them there, the Artist's tracks are probably marked as "part of a compilation" from under the Info tab of the *Get Info* window in iTunes. Double check that setting and if you make any changes, re-sync your iPod to apply the changes and see if that helps.

Itunes will open upon startup of windows vista 64, but if closed, it will not open and i must restart my computer.

I have backed up all itune media files, i have uninstalled and reinstalled all apple products needed to operate I tunes according to apple, any suggestions of help would be appreciated. Thank you! 1. Check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
2. Go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
3. Rename file "APSDaemon.exe' into "APSDaemon1.exe" from this location:
32bit Windows C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
64bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
(Take note that this is a temporary fix which will also disable the capability of WIFI SYNC)

Windows Vista Issue: iTunes auto-updated, now will not open

I was running a version of iTunes that I recently downloaded after installing Windows Vista Ultimate. Yesterday, Apple Updater updated my iTunes install to version 7.1.3.1 and now iTunes will not open.
I have tried uninstalling, registry cleaners, running as administrator, using compatibility mode, etc. I have tried virtually everything listed on these forums and nothing has worked.
iTunes.exe will run under Processes in Task Manager, but will never open.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is Apple planning on fixing this apparant bug in future releases?

This problem is evidently extremely common, as there are many posts saying essentially the same thing about 7.3.1. I installed it and ran into a number of problems immediately, the least of which was that iTunes does not run. The UI appears, but never gets focus so does not respond to any mouse or KB events. There is no error message of any kind. Deleting the preferences files does nothing. Deep removal of all things iTunes (folders, leftover registry keys, etc.) followed by a clean reinstall does not change the situation.
Worse, 7.3.1 uses lots of CPU power (both cores >50% for seconds at a time) while doing exactly nothing. While I appreciate that Apple and Microsoft are dedicated to ensuring that no CPU is left unhammered, this is a bit much.
I have the same version as a clean (first time ever) iTunes install on an XP laptop, and that, so far, is benign.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

i have a ipod nano 5th generation. use to work fine now will not sync. have done the 5rs several times all that got me was no songs on my ipod at all. have latest version of itunes. when run diognostics test on itunes pass all but says no ipod touch found. whay is it saying no touch when its a nano? Although you used the new USB 3.0 port, the actual connection speed is still USB2.0, as the iPod Dock connector, does not have the 10 times faster USB3.0 signal pins, the connection speed is still 480Mbits/s
I assumed that you have tried the other USB 2.0 port to no success..
Can you do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.

Does this video play okay in iTunes? Have you tried resetting your Nano? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If it plays okay in iTunes, try removing the video from the iPod and resyncing it.
