Windows Vista + N95 + Image Store - "Error communi...

I am trying to store images from my N95 using the Image Store application. This worked beautifully in XP, but after upgrading to Vista, all I get is a dialog box telling me "Error communicating with the phone".
This happens for both Bluetooth and USB connection, and it doesn't help that I set the Image Store to XP compatability, or run as admin. I really miss the Image Store functionality, it took the fuss out of storing images from the phone completely.
How can I fix this?

There is another cause and cure I think cause I just "fixed" my problem of this kind over many hours of agonising and trying the suggestions above.   Another internet site tells you :
"This usually happens for the simple reason that Gallery on the S60 device is running and currently holding open one of the files you're trying to backup (and delete). Switch to Gallery on the smartphone, back out of the image or video clip and use 'Exit'. Now try the 'Store images' function again - it should work fine!"
Unfortunately I couldn't obviously see a photo open in the Gallery. I was trying to store 103 images and I noticed it was stopping at one. I had a look at that one, it was not that important so I deleted it and try again. And it worked! It was as if it was evil, and blocking the software at that point. So it backed up about 70 images and jammed again. Found another image which I remember taking with the camera about a week ago and deleted that one, again not too important. Tried again and it went all the way backing up to a photo I took yesterday.
So that's it, something is left half open when the photo is saved and it screws up image store when it reaches it. Actually, I think that last image which I took I screwed up by closing the camera cover before it had finished doing its thing. I think now the moral of the story is that the digital camera in my N82 and it's softwared needs some TLC, it is not that robust, you need to give it a few seconds to do it's thing or it half saves these corrupted images. I could view the stuffed up image perfectly on the camera and Im sure there would be a better technical way of properly closing it in symbian rather than deleting it but yay it is solved!!

iTunes no longer works on my Windows VISTA system.  Get error msg saying an application is attempting to access C runtime library incorrectly... Error 7, Windows error 1114.  Same msg, or one that says unable to install, when trying to update or reinstall iTunes.  iTunes worked well up until about a month ago when this error msg starting appearing.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

    Hello everyone,
I was having the same issue:

If you receive this error also, press Quit and follow these steps:
    1. Start
    2. Control Panel
    3. Administrative tools (in classical view)
    4. Event Viewer
    5. Application
You will see something like this:
Double-Click for error (emphasized by red color). I have an error like this:
"Error 1327.Invalid Drive: E:\" if you have the same or e.g. Drive F:\ ir whatever letter, you should solve this problem extremely easy - just insert USB-flash into computer (it will launch as E\ or whatever disk) and than run installation again. It will work than.
Setup doesnt start if disk is offline.

  • How to split Windows Vista DVD image?

I would like to ask how to split windows vista DVD image into specific size using Windows PE Tools Command Prompt.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
You can try the following method:
    1.   Install UltraISO and Windows AIK.
    Windows AIK:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=94bb6e34-d890-4932-81a5-5b50c657de08&DisplayLang=en
    2.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD and extract install.wim under the Sources folder to the local hard drive, for example: D:\Vista\sources\install.wim.
    3.   Run Windows PE Tools Command Prompt in elevated mode and type the following command:
    imagex /split D:\vista\sources\install.wim D:\temp\install.swm 380
Note: D:\vista\sources\install.wim is the name and location of the file which will be split from. D:\temp\install.swm is the name and location of the target file. 380 is each target file size.
Note: Before doing this, make sure partition D has at least 5GB of free disk space.
    After that, you will get 6 target files named install.swm, install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm in D:\temp.
    4.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD. Delete install.wim under the Sources folder and drag install.swm to this folder. Save the whole disk to the local hard drive and we will get CD1.
    5.   Open UltraISO and create a new folder named Sources. Drag install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm to the Sources folder. Save install2.swm to the local hard drive and we will get CD2. Use the same method to create CD3, CD4, CD5 and CD6.
    6.   Burn the iso files to CDs.
The steps above can be a little complex. I recommend obtaining a DVD drive to install Windows Vista.
    Hope it helps.

  • Windows Vista Installation Failed. Error Restart Loop After Install.

I made it as far as the end of Step 2: Partition for Windows Vista -> Format -> Install -> Restart
Note: Partition size = 45 GB. Apple USB keyboard and mouse worked fine.
    The install process was stuck in a loop at this point. After restart the screen was black for about 5 minutes. Disc made noise off and on but no screen input. Then it finally restarted. Next screen had error info and a choice to continue. After that a "Install Windows" error msg appeared;
+"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer and then restart the installation."+
Clicking "OK" resulted in the same error msg. along with +"Press any key to boot from disc"+. No success attempting to start up from Windows partition. or disc. Restarted to Mac HD. There is a "Untitled" drive on the Desktop. It contains multiple folders (11 GB). I tried to restart from this drive w/o Windows disc and it returned to the previous error msg.
Next I tried restarting w/ Option key, inserting Windows disc, clicking on arrow under disc icon and quickly pressing any key. This brought up +"Windows Boot Manager Window"+. The only choice was; +"Windows set up [EMS Enabled]. To specify an advanced option for this choice, press F8. Tools: Windows memory diagnostic.+" None of the key choices (Enter, Tab, Esc) responded. Disc would not eject.
Booted to Mac HD. Ejected disc w/ mouse. Used Boot Camp to restore partition. After restart screen is black with; +"No bootable device -- insert boot disc and press any key".+ Then I power down/on with Option key. Only Mac HD is displayed. Log into Admin. Mac HD looks fine. Run Disk Utility to verify disk/volume. OK. Also ran TechTool Deluxe. Passed. Open System Preferences, check that Mac HD Startup Disk is highlighted. Restart. OK now.
What is going on? I was quite confident this would install without any problem since I was using the latest OS X 10.5.6 and Windows Vista Business (early version). Could that be the cause? I had no problem installing it under VMware Fusion 2 (downloaded updates), worked flawlessly. If I can't get this to work then I have to go back to a PC for ACAD. HELP!!

Your problem sounds somewhat like mine, although not exactly. In my case it seems as if my CD/DVD drive didn't like the hologram on my Windows XP install CD. I solved this by using Disk Utility to make a disk image of the Windows DVD and then burning the disk image onto a new DVD with an opaque "label". That solved that problem.
A further problem occurred after that. When I got to the screen that told me to hit "Enter" to start the installation process my keyboard was unresponsive. I solved this by buying a cheap Windows keyboard. That solved that problem and I now have Windows XP running just fine.
I think that you'll find that Apple tech support isn't very responsive to these sort of problems. I don't have Apple Care but was willing to pay my $49 for tech support. I ended up talking to a "Boot Camp specialist". He was polite but told me that it was "a windows problem" and that Apple didn't support Windows. I agree that Apple can't support windows but it seemed like my two problems were "Mac problems". Anyway, after tearing my hair out for 4 days I finally got it done. I have to admit that I'm not happy with apple tech support.

  • Windows Vista "Disk is locked" Error

ITunes reports "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk" or "You do not have write permissions for this folder" in Windows Vista.
I know that there is a suggested fix for XP using TweakUI, but I can't find anything to help in Vista.
I've tried removing and reinstalling, but that didn't help.
I'm using a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate.
My iTunes music files and library were previously working in Vista before the computer was reformatted (Adobe CS3 upgraders will know why I had to that).
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

Which error are you getting? Are you getting the "locked disk" or the "cannot be found or created"?

  • Windows Vista ODBC install failure error 126

I'm attempting to set up ODBC connections using Client 10.2.0.3 in Windows Vista 32-bit as administrator, following instructions in MetaLink Note 415166.1. I'm not successful and get error code 126. I've found similar complaints on web searches, but cannot resolve this. Can someone help?
    A pop-up box reads:
    "Errors found:
Could not load the setup or translator library."
In DNS data source list, "Oracle in Oracle10g_Home" shows SQORA32.dll dated 11/16/2006.
In regedit, HKLM\software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Oracle in Oracle10g_Home lists the driver as C:\oracle\10g\SQORA32.dll. I checked, and it's there. Setup is C:\oracle\10g\SQORA32s.dll. It's also there.
The service names exist in net manager, and connection tests work fine. Thanks in advance for any offers of help.

Try to copy in the instantclient's directory mfc71.dll and msvcr71.dll.
I'm not sure if both are required, but it worked for me.I tried your suggestion but got the same result. This time I can provide more details on the message. The dialog box is titled SQORAS32.DLL and the message is "An unsupported operation was attempted."
I had to click the dialog 3 times, then the Oracle ODBC Driver Configuration dialog opened on the workarounds tab. The drop-down box for the TNS service name works. Clicking the tabs for Application, Oracle, or SQL Server Migration all pop up the same SQORA32.DLL error dialog with the vague message.
    Thanks, anyway.

  • Windows vista, sync and restore errors. I give up.

    I have had continuous problems with my 8gb ipod touch, 2nd gen. I just returned one which I had had for 4 months during which it worked, but then I could not get it to restore and now have a new one and have the same problem. When I first got the new one , it would not sync it had a number of errors such as;
    - Attempting to copy to the disk 'X' ipod failed. An error occurred while writing to the device.
-The ipod 'X' iod cannot be synced an error occurred while writing to the device.
    -Required disk cannot be found.
-Also something about Apple Mobile Device
So I uninstalled itunes and all related programs and then reinstalled them.
I managed to get a few songs on to the ipod but they were distorted and the album art became chequered.
I then tried to restore it and have had more errors such as:
-The 'ipod' ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (6).
-The 'ipod' ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (14).
I have done all the things specified such as:
    -Restarting the computer,
    -Reinstalling Itunes,
-Using differnt USB ports on the computer,
    -Removing the firewall, Zone Alarm,
    -Removing everything from itunes.
Is it due to an itunes update possibly around june, that I have started experiencing problems.
Will I be able to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I shall return it and not bother with an ipod again.
    Many Thanks

I have exactly the same problem with my 8gb ipod touch 2nd gen and have tried everything you have with no success (see http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2531624&tstart=0)
It's definitely due to the itunes 9.2 update in June. I get the same itunes restore and sync errors you have on Windows Vista and Windows 7. It only starts restoring and syncing properly on Windows XP. I've tried downgrading to an itunes version that worked for me on Vista before, but Apple have updated the ipod touch firmware so that its not supported anymore by the earlier versions of itunes.
Apple phone support is a waste of time. They want to charge me £25 before they are interested in helping as they say my ipod is out of warranty - but its not the ipod that's broken, its the poorly written ITUNES, so why shouldn't I get free support for itunes even though my IPOD, which is perfectly fine, is out of warranty?!
Truth is, now apple has your money, they don't care...

  • G60-231wm Windows Vista 32-bit Recovery error

I need to order a new Recovery CD for the operating system. Your website does not list any CD for Windows Vista 32-bit OS. How can I Restore this notebook? It has no burned backup CDs and the partition for recovery has an error. It tried everything to no avail.

I looked up your system and it appears to me that you have a vista 64bit system, but the recovery disc's are still not available online. I would try calling tech support at 1-800-474-6836 and ask to order recovery discs. I am fairly confident that you will be able to order then this way. Good Luck

  • Windows Vista 64 bit service error on iCloud

I am running Vista 64 bit and trying to log into iCloud and everytime I do I get this message "You can't sign in because of server error" anyone got any ideas?

Hello, I think I can identify with this error. When I attempt to install or uninstall an update for the JRE, the error message pops up, notifying me that a DLL required for this install could not be run. I have successfully installed the newest JDK on my machine running 64-bit Vista, though.
I had an earlier version of the JRE (11) installed prior to this experience, but I could not find the corresponding folder for that install, whether in the Program Files or Program Files(x86) directory. Therefore I suspected that the uninstall failure could be attributed to Windows not being able to find an uninstall package. However, I am also unable to install a new version of the JRE (14), which is quite irksome as I am trying to develop a desktop application with Java.
If anyone has any solutions, suggestions or workarounds for this issue I would be immensely grateful! I had also tried using System Restore but to no avail.

  • Windows Vista / 7 64 Install Error

Not sure how many people are having this issue in Windows 7 64 / Vista 64, but I've found a fix. The issue is when you try to install iTunes, you get an error like "Could not open Key: UNKNOWN\Components...blah blah blah. Access is denied." What worked for me:
    1. Open regedit (run: regedit)
    2. Navigate to HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Co mponents
    3. Right click "Components" and selec Permissions
    4. Click "Advanced"
    5. Click the "Owner" tab
    6. Under "Change Owner To", select your administrator account (not the "Administrators" account).
    7. Click Ok and exit the registry.
    8. Try to reinstall iTunes.
I can't say this will work for everyone, it's just what ended up working for me. Good luck!

I FIXED MINE!! This is what I did:
    1. Select "Start", "Run", and type "RegEdt32"(for VISTA "regedit"). Click OK.
    2. Select HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    3. In the menu, select "Edit", "Permissions". A dialog will come up.
    4. Check "Allow" for "Read" and for "Full Control", then click OK
    5. Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE and repeat steps 3, 4 for the keys "Software" and "System"
    6. Expand the "Software" key, and repeat steps 3, 4 for "Classes"
    7. Expand the "Classes" key, and repeat steps 3, 4 for "Installer"
    8. If you have made any changes in steps 1 through 7, skip to step 10. If you did not make any changes, continue with step 9.
9.Open the "Classes" key, and click on "Installer" . In the menu, click "Security", "Permissions." Click the button marked "Advanced." Check "Reset Permissions on all child objects.", then click OK
    10. Close the registry editor
    11. Reboot the computer
    then run iTunes install again.

  • SBO Client and Windows Vista in workgroup Licence error

    Hi!
My customer runs B1 2004C. Network structure is workgroup. Client and server are in the same workgroup. XP users connect successfully, but new Vista user gets the licence error: "-2147024891 Access denied". DCOM and other customizations on the licence server are done like in SAP Notes. It doesn't help.
I know Vista is not officially supported by 2004C B1, but i have several Vista users running SBO fine in domain structure. I think the trouble is in the workgroup.
    Thanks a lot!
    David.

    Hi David,
some of the SAP Notes addressing DCOM access denied problem of 2004 releases.
    <b>Note 833798 - After Upgrade W2003 to SP1: Access denied -2147024891</b>
    Symptom
After upgrading Windows 2003 server to SP1 you get the access denied error -2147024891
    Other terms
    license server, error -2147024891
    Reason and Prerequisites
Upgrade to Windows 2003 server changes security settings
    Solution
The problem is caused by SP1 for W2003 Server. You have to change the
default configuration of the DCOM to enable clients to access license
    server again:
    1. go to "Start/run", type in "Dcomcnfg" and the Dcom configuration will open
    2. expand "Component Services"
    3. right click on "my computer", open "Properties"
    4. go to tab "Com Security"
    5. in "launch and activation permission" go to "edit limits" this
    button is new since SP1
    6. tick the boxes "remote launch" and "remote activation" for user
    "everyone"
After that the clients can access the license server again, if all nescessary rights are give in the DCOM as well. When the changes described above did not take effect, please check this additionally:
    1. go to "Start/run", type in "Dcomcnfg" and the Dcom configuration will open
    2. expand "Component Services"
    3. Go to "SBOLicense", open "Properties" by right-clicking the mouse
    4. On register tab "Security" customize all permissions. Add all nescessary User accounts there. If you add i.e. User Group "Everyone" there, you will not have access right problems any longer, as every user belongs by default to this group.
If that change does not take effect immediately, reboot the server.
This note is permanently updated. If you have any comments or proposals tho improve it, please contact the SAP Business One Hotline and let us know.
    <b>Note 824976 - error -2147024891, access denied to license server</b>
    Symptom
error -2147024891 when trying to connect with B1 client to license server on another computer The License mechanism needs a properly set up license server which is available over the network via DCOM interface to client computers. The necessary windows user rights must be assigned to client and server.
    Other terms
Access denied, SAP Business One, License server
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Functionality description
    Solution
    1. Is the license server up and running?
The B1 client on the license server computer should be started and logged into to ensure that there are no problems withs the license server itself. The B1 Server tools should be opened and the settings of the License Manager should be checked so that it is possible to connect by pressing the Connect button.
    2. Is the network connection between client and license server working?
The server should be pinged via its IP-address for a response. Any firewalls should be disabled between client and license server for troubleshooting reasons as they can effectively block data packets which are needed for license mechanism. If a VPN is used between client and license server all ports should be available.
    3. Are necessary windows user rights in the domain given?
We highly recommend to use B1 in a windows domain, as this is the only way to manage user accounts effectively. Domain user accounts have to be configured on the domain controller computer only. For troubleshooting reasons log in at the client with the windows domain administrator account, that should prevent the user from being blocked due to a lack windows user rights. According to our recommendations the users should be Power Users on the local computer.
    4. Are necessary windows user rights in a workgroup given?
If the user is in a windows workgroup, the same user account should be configured with the same password on the license server and on each client computer as well. For troubleshooting reasons a local admin account should be configured on each of these computers. As account information is stored locally on each computer, username and password must be exactly the same on each of the machines. Login with this local administrator account. According to our recommendations the users should be Power Users on the local computer.
    5. Is DCOM installed and configured correctly?
On the license server DCOM interface should to be installed and configured correctly. It is located under Control panel\administrative tools\ component service. Expand and in My Computer you will find DCOM Config\SBO License. Open its Properties and check configurations in Security tab. Add user accounts there, if needed.
DCOM should be enabled on the Client machines and on the server(s). In the Component Services expand to My Computer and right click to open the Properties for My Computer. Go to the Default Properties tab and make sure that 'Enable Distributed COM on this computer' is ticked. If these settings are modifed a restart of the computer is needed for the changes to take effect.
    Br,
    Chris
