While playing games such as Halo 2 or Fallout 3, which the macbook graphically handles exceptionally well for a laptop, the sound crackles and often disappears! To get the sound back I have to reboot my macbook. Help, this is extremely annoying, and apple won't do a thing about it!!! Please help!

Hello there, My problem is that there is no sound coming from the speakers when speaking at the microphone. I can record my voice, but cannot speak and listen simultaneously... As far as I know there should be an option named Monitor Input in the Levels tab of the Speaker Properties in Windows Vista... However - I am missing such option... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Windows Vista game sound fix (readme)

This fix applies to computers experiencing "scratchy", or "glitchy" sound during gameplay in all versions of Windows Vista running creative-made beta drivers (or final drivers I guess). The specs of the system tested are as follows: NVIDIA Geforce 6800GS super AGP 8x, 3.2 GHZ processor (2) SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS (any version won't matter), 430 watt power supply
Now, the first thing too do is update ALL of your drivers: Chipset drivers, Graphics Cards drivers, Sound Card Drivers, and SOMETIMES the motherboard's BIOS. After updating, go into the graphics card control panel (ATI or NVIDIA) and make sure your settings are all correct and in order (meaning don't use any "FORCE" settings, "let the application decide". Now, right click on the audio icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) and select "playback devices". select "speakers" and click on "properties", then click on the "advanced" tab. In the advanced tab un-check "enable audio enhancements" and click "apply",(this is a recommend not a requirement, however the result may vary). After that, close all the open windows. Next, right click on the shortcut of your "problematic" video game and click on "properties". Then click on the "compatability" tab. (By the way, these settings will apply for all games you run, UNTIL future driver releases). In the "compatability" tab check-on the following: "Run this program in compatibility mode for (windows xp service pack 2)" ; "Disable desktop composition" (this will disable aero during game-play) ; and last check-on "Run this program as an administrator". Apply these settings, and close the open windows. WAIT!, all is not done yet, now you will need to open the "creative audio console". In the console, click on the tab "CMSS 3D" Under "CMSS modes" there should be a drag-down box, click on it and select "off" (in other words turn "CMSS 3D" off". Now click "close" at the bottom left of the console.
NOTE!!!: In the game menus, the sound MAY BE scratchy, BUT once you start playing, it shouldn't be at all, or will be for less than a minute, but will then "catch on" for the rest of gameplay. LAST: You will need to only use the "hardware option" in-game sound menus, using "software" WILL MESS IT UP!
    That's All- Start a game

I have a strange problem with my audio in Vista. I have a Creative Audigy 2 and Creative 6700 speakers. My full system specification is below but please note I did not have this issue in my previous Vista build - its only happening since I did a reinstall. Anyway, when I swich on the speakers using the remote control unit for the 6700 speakers the sound comes on but then it turns down. I have to then increase the volume by a large amount for it to start playing sound again and then turn it down to listening volume. This issue is not application specific - it happens in everything: Winamp, WMP, games, etc etc?I'm using [color="#000000"]Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002 and I've tried reinstall several times. Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • Audigy SE & Windows Vista Home Premium - No sound after sl

    Hi Everyone,
I installed an audigy se card in my media center since the onboard audio wasn't supported in Vista anymore. Sound (at least 2.) seems to be all good until I put the machine to sleep while in Media Center. When I wake up the machine, there is no audio in media center, regardless of how much I fiddle with the volume/mute buttons. The only way I can restore audio is if I quit media center and reopen it (for a media center pc, this is sort of a pain).
Has anyone encountered this and what was the solution? Thanks in advance!
    Here are my machine specs:
    - 2.54 GHz P4
    - ASUS P4PE-BP
    - GB RAM
    - Windows Vista Home Premium
    - ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
    - ATI TV Wonder Elite
    - Audigy SE (with latest vista drivers)

I have exactly the same problem, with exactly the same solution (quit and restart Media Center).
Does anyone have any ideas? I have looked at BIOS options as well as power options, driver and audio in Vista.
I find it odd that restarting Media Center fixes the problem. The audio card must have awoke from sleep sucessfully? No reboot or anything else is needed.
    Athlon 64 3000+
    ASUS A8V-VM SE
    GB DDR 3200
    Radeon x550
    Audigy SE
    Netgear WG3T
    Kworld dual tuner 30 PCIe
Only similarity is Media Center and Audigy SE!?!
    Latest drivers for everthing.
Thanks!Message Edited by DarrenGraves on 06-4-200704:06 PM

  • Windows XP hard drive in a Windows Vista computer. No sound n

I bought a brand new computer that had Windows Vista installed on it. I
dont like Vista so I took the hard dri've out and replaced it with a brand
new hard dri've. I then loaded Windows XP Home onto the hard dri've.
Everything went perfectly fine EXCEPT there is no sound. I get an error
that says that I don't have a driver installed and gives me a (CODE 0)
error. Any advice on what to do now?

Ok first note, you should NEVER do what you did. Never take out the hard dri've just to get rid of an Os or program. there are much safer ways of installing Xp. You should have just formatted the HD and installed XP that way. Anyway, what you might be able to do is uninstall the drivers for Everything and reinstall them. The way you did it is flawed because the Hardware is still thinking its running on Vista and you pretty much confused it.

  • No sound on Satellite Pro A120 with Windows Vista

    Hi
I have had to reinstall my Vista operating system and rebuild my A120 Satellite Pro from the revovery disk.
Most things are fine but I cant get any sound from the speakers of headphine jack.
I have checked andit says that the Realtek High Definition Sound Driver is installed and working correctly.
My volume buttons are up high on the mixer and on Windows Media Player.
    The driver is Realtek 6.0.1.5317
    Help would be much appreciatesd

Nothing through the speakers, nothing via the headphone socket. Volume bar goes up and down with the music as it should do when you play an audio file. Tried the Windows Vista built in driver, the Realtek ones from the Toshiba site.
Last thing to try is rebuilding to the XP support disk, making sure the volume is right at the tip and unmuted, and try reinstalling Vista again, which is tonight's job, but I'm not feeling hopeful about it. Like I said before the toshiba unmute tool didn't do anything for me.

  • Windows Vista Boot Camp - No Audio (sound)

    Hi Guys,
I just got my father's Macbook Pro he bought last year for christmas, and I was already excited how I could actually have both Mac and Windows on one laptop (as I need Windows for making music in Fl Studio). Now the problem is, that there is no Sound coming out of the MBP when in Windows, and there is the infamous red light coming out of the Headphones Jack. I'll explain everything I did in steps so that you get the idea. So first of all, I started with the Bootcamp Partition and Installation. Since I lost my Mac OS X (or tbh my father lost it   ) I was happy to see that I could actually download the 'support software a.k.a. Drivers' directly before the installation. Well, guess what, It didn't work because the 'support software was not available'. Anyways, I proceeded with the Installation as if I had the CD and Drivers ready. Everything went fine, after booting to Windows I installed Bootcamp and the drivers (Since I found someone posting the .Iso file of the contents of the MAC OS X CD I lost, so I downloaded it.), I was excited to see that every button on the keyboard worked and also the trackpad worked almost flawlessly. Now after the Installation, I did some Windows updates, and then I wanted to listen to some Music, and suddenly I realized that my Sound isn't working! And the Jack started to Glow Red.
So I went online, in search of the problem. I found various 'fixes' for the problem, such as installing a Cirrus Driver (well that didn't work, as it said that my windows is in Slovak and that's not a supported language... what the ****?), then I tried to install Realtek Drivers - didn't do anything (although I didn't uninstall the old ones, because I wasn't sure how exactly to do that.)... Well I think it might be helpful if I'll just summarize what 'fixes' I tried:
Update to Boot Camp 3.1 - Didn't work
Update to Service Pack 1 or later. - Updating to Service Pack 1 and then 2 got rid of the red light, when there is no sound output, as soon as I try to play something it's back on, glowing like a Christmas Tree
Try to wiggle a toothpick in the headphone jack - amazing fix, isn't it? Well I actually found out that It worked for some people, and since I'm desperate, I tried it... As expected, it didn't work.
Install Realtek Drivers - as mentioned above, didn't work...
Install Cirrus Drivers - Slovak Language not 'supported'... right.
Update Boot Camp to latest update - Didn't Work...
Install a 32 Bit Version of Windows -  I didn't mention this, I had first a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Installed, and the sound didn't work as well. As there was some problem with the Boot Camp installation, I tried to reinstall to 32 Bit, But used Windows Vista instead, because I heard Windows 7 Is 'not yet  supported' or something..
Make sure the Speakers are 'preset' as a default device in the Sounds Control Panel -  It Already was preset -.-
'Rage Plug' the computer and hope for the best...? Yeah.
Can anyone finally tell me how to fix this, I am desperate, tired, angry and all the other negative emotions you can imagine right no, because I spent hours on this, looking up millions of forums, in which there was no answer for me!!
    Please.
    Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have to download the drivers. To download them, press X key while your Mac is starting to start into Mac OS X, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to download them. You will have to burn them onto a DVD or USB drive, so you will be able to install the drivers on Windows. Then, it should work fine.
If you can't download them in Boot Camp Assistant, download the drivers from this website > http://www.cafe-encounter.net/p682/download-bootcamp-drivers The links are from Apple and that's safe to download and install

  • Sound Problems with Windows Vista

    Hey,
Ever since I installed Windows Vista onto my MBP, the sound has not worked properly. Can someone please help me with this, it doesn't recognize my sound card and I do not know what to do. Someone please help me.
    Thanks A Lot,
    Dawn Holubiak

I am interested by your following answer:
All you have to do is reinsert your Mac Windows Drivers CD and open it up (NOT TO INSTALL EVERYTHING AGAIN) but so you can individually choose which items to install. Scroll to SigmaTech Audio and just install that and POOF you have sound!
What do you call the Mac Windows Drivers CD?
I have installed parralell in order to run Vista on my MBP and indeed having some problems with the quality of the sound so happy to learn how to fix it. Thanks for yur help.
