windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system32\hal.dll.. I purchased system recovery and it did not solve problem. Tried to run recovery disk again and program cycles. please help me find and install missing file

iTunes no longer works on my Windows VISTA system. Get error msg saying an application is attempting to access C runtime library incorrectly... Error 7, Windows error 1114. Same msg, or one that says unable to install, when trying to update or reinstall iTunes. iTunes worked well up until about a month ago when this error msg starting appearing.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Since Re-activation as suggested by the link above is not working for you, Can you please confirm the following:
The OperatorURL is reachable. ( you can find the operatorURL from the acsm file by opening it in notepad,etc)
And Book is still available on the book-store for purchase.
(If any of first two are not available, you might have to talk to distributor for next action item to get the book. Since you will have record of purchasing the book, (in my opinion) they should provide you the new token for downloading the book)
And please confirm this that you used the same userID for downloading that you used when you first fulfilled/downloaded the book.
(If it is the case, then you have to use the correct userID)

Dynamic ARP inspection rate limit issues with Windows Vista Systems

Good Day to everybody.
I had implemented DHCP Snooping & Dynamic ARP inspection feature to mitigate ARP spoofing attacks to one of customer location where we have mix of Windows vista & XP systems. By default DAI feature rate limit ARP packets on un-trusted ports to 15 Packets per second. With this value I was facing some issue to access file shares where port will go in error-disabled state due to ARP broadcast from system was crossing 15 PPS limit of DAI. For the same, I had increased the DAI limit to 64 & after that we had not facing this problem from windows XP systems, but windows vista systems are still giving problem. Also this probem is very random in nature & not all the windows Vista system will face same issue even though they are accessing same file share & are configured with same DAI rate limit.
That's why I am not able to figure out baseline values for DAI rate limits. I had already search microsoft documentation for limiting this ARP broadcast from Windows Vista system, but no luck.
Is there any way to find out correct settings for this DAI packet rate limiting in Windows Vista enviorement ?

Zen Images (Windows Vista - System error: 30)

I am having problem with making an image of Windows vista dell laptop. I was trying to make image from Zen work disk and USB flash drive. It's giving me an error message System error: 30. Please help to resolve this issue so i take image of new computer.
I try with /mnt/usb
mkdir /mnt/usb
mount /des/sdb1 /mnt/usb
img
I like to store this image on Local usb hard disk.

Zenworks imaging was working on USB, for older vostro laptops.
However, it has now stopped working with the new vostro laptops.
Please advise.

A recent drive failure forced a complete re-install of all windows Vista system software I was able to revive old hardisk & I need to recover my bookmarks.

I recently suffered a hard drive failure that managed to take months worth of valuable work when it failed. I replaced the hard disk drive in my laptop and completed a fresh install of Windows Vista and all the programs that were used on that system which included Firefox. After finding an exact match of the drive that failed I managed to get the drive running again by replacing the drives control board and I am now able access the data on the drive.I usually really anal about backing up all of my valuable data but I have been so busy with my current project my usual habits went to the wayside. I need to recover the Firefox bookmarks from the old drive and recover them to the new drive but I haven't been able to find the file that contains the bookmarks from the previous installation of Firefox. Could somebody please help me locate these valuable bookmark files

I am using Windows 7 on my desk top computer. The top area of the desk top is visible at the top of my Mozilla Firefox browser and all web pages. It is opaque

I cannot print custom sized borderless cards with the Windows Vista system.

I use an HP Photosmart 8450 printer on a Windows Vista 64-bit system.
The printer will not recognize custom size paper for borderless printing. I print borderless photos on greeting cards. It worked without a problem on the Windows XP system. I have tried everything! Help.

Where can I find the set of windows vista system recover CD for Thinkpad-X200? TYPE(7454HT1)

My Thinkpad-x200's vista system was not good, So I wanted recovered it using blue button, and then my system breakdown. The service told me that I used tools to rebuild partitioned space. So it was my problem. But I didn't have the system recover CD, So somebody know, how can i do it?

Dv4-1275mx Replaced Hard Drive Windows Vista System Recovery Failure

I have a HP dv4 1275mx laptop and I just replaced the hard drive. I got the Vista 64-bit hp system recovery discs from HP but the recovery has failed 4 times. The hard drive is brand new and has more space than the old one. It's a Western Digital 640 gb scorpio blue sata 5400 rpm. Windows will not complete the download.
On the original hard drive, I upgraded to Windows 7.
Error message:

Want to load calendar and contacts from Tungsten E to Windows Vista system (32 Bit)

I have an "old" Tungsten E and a new Dell with a 32 bit Vista operating system. Obviously my attempt to load the Palm software from my 5-6 year old disk failed.
I see posts about a ver. 6.2 download, and something about a 4.1 desktop... I'm confused at to how to proceed.
Shall I uninstall the old desktop from my new install on the Vista. It seemed to load OK. Does a new version replace it?
How can I win this battle? And get my contacts to the Palm desktop (or should I send to Outlook 2007?) and my calendar from the Tungsten E to Outlook 2007?

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. Obviously the version of palm desktop you are trying to load is not compatible. You need to uninstall what you have already installed then download either 4.1.4e or 4.1.4, both should work fine with vista. Now there are some draw backs that media sync and the installer will not work as your used to. But you will be able to sync your pim items just fine.

Trouble reseting older iPod on Windows Vista system

When trying to reset older iPod (Model M8976LL) from Mac to PC, was told that iPod "software update server could not be contacted". As I was connected to an active network, the only other thing mentioned was for me to check my network settings. What "settings" do I need? I am using a USB power connection cord.

I have requested and accepted the most current Firefox program updates with my windows vista system. They are not registering but I am told they are downloaded. Then I cannot get the printer option to work with any version of firefox. in English

I have taken the firefox updates when offered to 4.4. I have the browser as an aside to Internet Explorer 9 as a backup browser. When I use Firefox I am being told my system is not up to date and I need a newer version. I download the version and keep getting told I am not current with firefox. When Firefox DOES work I cannot get any printer icon or settings to enable and allow the printing of a page. I have to use IE9 to get the printer to work. Using eBay I cannot get the uploading of pictures from my computer to consistently operate even though I use small JPG files under 500KB.
