Windows Vista won't upload

Help. My HP G50 will start but the Windows Vista will not upload. I've pressed the F 10 and F 11 buttons. Memory is good. I've backed up my files using the F 11 back up function. I've tried to go back to an earlier date using system restore, no results. Can I reset the computer to factory defaults, there is function in the F 11 button, and then retrieve my files. Do I need a recovery disc?

Your subject is a tad strange. I believe you may mean that you can start your notebook, but the boot does not get as far as the Windows Vista login screen. Is that accurate?
From the description you have given, I suggest that you will need to use your recovery media to recover your notebok to the state in which  it was delivered to you.
Be aware that a recovery deletes all of the files.
If you want to recover the files then you will need to use the backup funstion of the Recovery manager when it asks you if you want to bakup your files. Backup the files to an external disk connected to the notebook by usb. If you skip that step then your files will be deleted and gone.

  • Windows Vista won't support my M

Sorry - me again. I have a Creative Zen 20mg and Windows Vista won't load the CD. I then looked for various download options online and have been told that they won't work with Vista and Creative have no plans to change this. I need to upload my music to the PC! Is there any way that I can sort this some other way? I've seen from the other threads that there aren't drivers available. ?Many thanks.Message Edited by Ellymoo on 03-02-20080:57 AM

There are several components you would need to install for access to the player. ALL must be installed in Compatabilty mode for XP. In addition to the one you listed The Creative Nomad Jukebox plug-in is one of the components that needs to be installed if you have not. The version number is 2.00.20. http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=9320 The other component after that one is the Creative Nomad Explorer version 3.0.0http://support.creative.com/download...ownloadId=8069

  • Desktop PC with Windows Vista won't boot up

My Acer Aspire 180 Desktop PC  with Windows Vista won't boot up and has a Recovery error message that says it shut down unsuccessfully. Can someone help me with this issue?

If you have Recovery Disk then try to repair install. If you do not have then you have to contact Acer Support for getting them.
Once it is recovered you must update the Graphic Card Driver. Visit the website of the Graphic Card manufacturer to update it.

  • Windows Vista won't install Ipod

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, unfortunately Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Iteune three times and searched the Windows Vista disk, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

  • Windows Vista won't install

Hey i just got a copy of windows vista but it won't install. i tried to install it using bootcamp but it asks me to start installing on a existing windows. i don't have any windows installed on my mac book. Do i have to install windows xp before installing windows vista?

    I'll start doing my homework.
The obvious: Is vista proving stable on the Mac built in drive?
While some might consider me "lucky," I don't believe i luck. I have had no problems with any of my three Macs which now all run Leopard. My two MBPs were updated, not even an archive and install and they both run fine, as does my old G5.
I installed XP-Pro on my 32-bit MBP when I first got it using BootCamp1.0, beta.
I installed Vista Ult 64-bit on his MBP also under a beta version of BC, 1.2, I believe.
All the Leopards are up to date, as are my Winders OSs. I finished updating this MBP to SP1 this morning. I have never had any problem, issue or anything I would consider serious. I did have the problem some have noted with Leopard, that the WiFI modem would turn off when not used, but that was not a Leopard issue, it was a firmware issue with my Westell modem, which works fine now that I upgraded its firmware.
As of now, I have nothing but praise for both Apple and, yes, Microsoft.
I learned long ago, that when you get down the the processor, it's all the same 1's and 0's
I do research things quite well before actually committing myself, but that should be normal for everyone. Even a daredevil driver or stuntman carefully plans what he does, although it looks as if it's spontaneous.
I use computers for business and pleasure and I need them as tools. I do not fool around with strange software or unplanned updates. So far, that has paid off.

  • Windows Vista won't connect after security change

I have an AirPort Extreme base station, to which we connect using an iMac, PowerBook G4 and a Windows Vista laptop. I used to have it set to WEP, but changed it to WPA for the increased security. After the change, my PowerBook and iMac are connecting just fine, but my wife's Vista machine has been nothing but headaches. It will sometimes connect, after a bit of fighting with it, but not reliably or quickly. At the moment, it says that it is connected with local and internet access, but I can't actually access anything on the internet, and diagnosing the problem in Vista reports that a wireless network cannot be found (despite the fact that it simultaneously reports that it is connected to one).
I know squat about Windows -- I'm a Mac guy. Anybody know how to help me fix this?
    Thanks in advance!

No answers, but the problem seems to have disappeared. Man, I'm starting to realize how fortunate I am to have been using Macs for the last 23 years. I think Vista is going to be a very good thing for Apple! There's nothing like actually using Vista to make one want to flee screaming and never look back...

  • Windows Vista Won't Recognize Internet Networks

I just installed Windows Vista Home Basic on my MacBook Pro with Boot Camp. I have Road Runner wireless internet and my Mac side recognizes and connects all the time, but my Windows side doesn't recognize it or any other network. What's the problem and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,
    Sam

Uninstalled and reinstalled the new update. I even ran the setup as admin, but no dice. And there's no Java settings in the control panel either.

  • Windows Vista won't boot in Snow Leopard

    Hi everyone
I tried to boot into my Windows Vista Boot Camp partition today and it wouldn't start. After holding down the option key like usual, it just sat there with a white screen. No Apple logo. No partitions to click on like usual. Then my Mac ran incredibly slow and was glitchy. What happened to Windows? Please help.
    All responses welcome and appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You're very welcome.
I always leave the boot order BIOS setting to boot from the HDD first so as to shave off a few microseconds from the boot time.
When I need to boot from another device such as a DVD in your case, I turn on the PC, at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, I tap the F9 key to get the one-time boot menu.
I select the DVD drive from the list. Then I hit the button on the drive to open the drive, pop the bootable DVD in, close the tray, wait a second or so and then hit the enter key.
After I hit the enter key, watch the sreen for a message that states in substance...attempting to boot from DVD...press any key to boot from DVD...
I press any key and the PC boots from the DVD and off I go...
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Now remember...making that file is pretty easy, but only if you read both my notes and the guy that wrote the procedure's steps carefully.
There have been a few forum members that I have had to coach during the process, because they were following that guy's every step to the letter, and as I pointed out, there is only one mistake on his first screen shot...but that one mistake is all it takes to stop you cold.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that Vista folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
You get past that, and you're home free.
    Good luck!

  • Windows Vista won't boot changing from IDE to AHCI in BIOS

Hi, I've spent a lot of time looking up this problem online. I can find lots of google search results and they seem to say go into the REGEDIT and change the 'msahci' start setting to 0 and even the 'pciide', or 'iaStorV' start settings to 0. But that doesn't work for me. The Windows load screen with the green load bar just keeps going across and Windows never starts up. I have Windows Vista Home Basic.
I saw someone in this forum with a similar problem but they upgraded to Win7 on a fresh install to fix the problem, they were switching from RAID to AHCI. I contacted Intel tech support and they said to try HP or the motherboard manufacturer. I contacted Intel because I installed an Intel 520 series Solid State Drive and wanted to know if they had a driver to get the benefit of AHCI rather than IDE. I know lots of people recommend a fresh install of Windows but I did not get a cd of Windows with this computer

I tried installing this Microsoft fix too. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976
I'm wondering if there is an AHCI driver I can install or anything I can do to get AHCI working?
Thanks to anyone who can help!

  • Transfered music files from windows XP to windows vista won't play

I recently bought a new Dell XPS 410 running Windows Vista Premium. I used a jump drive to transfer all my music from itunes to the new computer. The songs show up in my library, however when I click on it to play it comes up with a message that says "The song 'xxxx' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" This happens with songs that I purchased from itunes as well as songs that I downloaded from CDs. I have enabled the new computer to play purchased songs but this did not help. HELP!!! I know, I should have purchased an Apple.

Please read the appropriate support articles from http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/.
There is a procedure you need to follow for the iTunes library to be accessible from the external drive.
Get back here to report how you get on.

  • Windows Vista won't start or install - firmware or EFI problem?

I am running Snow Leopard on a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, late 08 - early 09 model. I have been using boot camp to run Vista for the past year with no problem. This morning, I tried to start up Vista and it wasn't working. I got the option key screen to choose between OSX and Vista, but after choosing vista, the cursor blinks once and I get a black screen. The computer is quiet and nothing seems to be running.
At first I thought it was a boot camp problem. So I went into OSX, de-partitioned the drive, and repartitioned it. I then stuck the Vista install disk in, and clicked through the boot camp assistant to reinstall. The computer restarted to begin the reinstall process, but instead of starting the install disk, it did the same thing - a single blip of cursor, and then a black screen.
I'm not technically savvy, but that seems like it's not a Windows problem, but a firmware or EFI problem. The computer will run OSX, but it won't run boot camp and it won't start from a CD-ROM. The only other steps I've taken are to run Software Update and the Disk Utility from Safari. Neither helped. I'm out of warranty and would love to be able to fix it without spending tons of money. Any help is appreciated.

open terminal, run the following command:
    sudo gpt -r show -l /dev/disk0
(press return, enter admin password, press return again)
output should look something like this:
    Betsy7:~ kj$ sudo gpt -r show -l /dev/disk0
    Password:
gpt show: /dev/disk0: Suspicious MBR at sector 0
    start size index contents
    0 1 MBR
    1 1 Pri GPT header
    2 32 Pri GPT table
    34 6
    40 409600 1 GPT part - "EFI System Partition"
    409640 316879664 2 GPT part - "RAPTOR"
    317289304 262144
    317551448 200889128 3 GPT part - "RAPTOR2"
    518440576 262144
    518702720 67287033 4 GPT part - "XP"
    585989753 82582
    586072335 32 Sec GPT table
    586072367 1 Sec GPT header
    The first line:
"gpt show: /dev/disk0: Suspicious MBR at sector 0"
should be identical to mine. If the "Suspicious MBR"
line is missing, then it is a GPT problem, which indicates
that the MBR information is missing or more likely corrupt.
also the second and third lines will read:
    start size index contents
    0 1 PMBR
    instead of:
    start size index contents
    0 1 MBR
If the MBR info in the GPT partition is corrupt or missing,
then (obviously) Windows won't be bootable.
The only tool reliably capable (that I know of) of repairing (rebuilding) the GPT/EFI
without wiping off all partitions and repartitioning the drive
    is iPartition:
    http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iPartition.php
The command line program "gpt" is incomplete, so use
    it at your own risk:
    BUGS
The development of the gpt utility is still work in progress. Many necessary features
are missing or partially implemented. In practice this means that the manual page,
supposed to describe these features, is farther removed from being complete or useful.
As such, missing functionality is not even documented as missing. However, it is believed
that the currently present functionality is reliable and stable enough that this tool can be used
without bullet-proof footware if one thinks one does not make mistakes.

  • Windows Vista won't find my Lumia Icon

I'm trying to move some music to my new Lumia Icon, but when I plug the phone in to the PC nothing happens. The PC doesn't know anything is plugged in, and all the phone does is recharge the battery when plugged in. How can I get my music on to my new phone?

Not much to try with Vista.  Desktop - use USB ports on back
Use the USB cable that came with the phone.
Connect the phone to the PC.  Turn it all the way off, hold power button and slide the screen down. The phone will turn back on and it will be detected, drivers should load.
You should see it in windows explorer. It should install in 'portable devices' in the device manager.
