Windows vitual PC / XPM on Satellite L30-105

Hello,
I'm running Windows 7 on my Satellite L30-105. And it's running very well.
Right now I would like to install Windows Virtual PC to run Windows XP Virtual Mode. But the laptophardware does not support
a vitual pc. Is there any solution for this problem?

Sorry mate, I have not good news for you but there is no solution for this problem.
The point is that Virtualization must be supported from the hardware (CPU, mainboard, chipset) and BIOS too. That means you cant something to use Virtualization.
The only option is buying a new notebook. ;)

Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) Windows Vista does not see DVD-ram UJ-850s

I have a Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) with windows Vista. Windows Vista doesn't recognize the DVD-ram any more. The BIOS recognize the DVD-ram. I did try to download the DVD-ram drivers but they are not on the side of Toshiba.
Who can help me to get the right driver or know more? From the problems with the Mat****a DVD-ram uj-850s ATA device and windows Vista.

The CD/DVD drive does not need special drivers!!!
The Vista includes a Microsoft driver which works with all ODDs (CD/DVD drives)
Simply said, the Vista should recognize the drive without any problems.
Some questions; did you get any error messages? What is the device manager status? Do you see any yellow exclamation marks?
There is an old way to fix a similar drive issue. It worked under XP so try it on Vista OS.
Its necessary to update the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
1. Click on the start menu.
2. If this is a Vista machine in the search box type in regedit without the quotation marks.
3. search the registry key mentioned above.
4. In the right panel youll see something along the lines of UpperFilter and LowerFilter you want to click on each filter key and hit delete. Click yes when it asks to confirm if you wish to delete the key.
5. Restart Windows.
6. Let me know if this works.

Trouble with Benq DC C 700 digital camera on Satellite L30 105

I'm having trouble with my digital camera when I connect it to my laptop. Every time I connect the camera the laptop freezes and gives me the blue screen of death, that is, the screen you get when a fatal error occurs, and then my laptop has to be rebooted. So this happens each and every time I connect the two.
I've tried updating the bios and installing the latest drives but nothing seemed to work. I've contacted the support center at Benq and they told me to contact Toshiba as they are pretty sure the problem is not with the camera. So please anyone, if you have any ideas and or suggestions/solutions I'll be glad to hear them out.

First of all if you need the Toshiba support you have to contact the Toshiba authorized service partner in your country. This forum here is only a user-to-user forum and you will not find anyone from Toshiba here.
Secondly;
It seems the Satellite L30-105 was delivered with Vista. Do you use this OS on the L30?
I have read about many issues with the 3rd party devices, software and Windows Vista.
I dont know what the guys told you but possibly the webcam software is not 100% compatible with Vista.
You should know that the BSOD appears if there is a serious software or hardware problem. I dont think that this issue was caused by a hardware problem and therefore there is only one possibility; software compatibility issue.
In you case I would update the Vista to the latest state and would ask the webcam manufacture if its 100% compatible with Vista.

Could anyone give me an idiots guide on how to update a display driver for my Satellite L30-105 ( PSL33E ) PLEASE?

Ok, here is my guide;
Download the graphic driver for your notebook model.
Unzip the package.
Then access the device manager, mark the graphic card, update driver.
Then a new window will open.
There you have to use the second Advanced option.
Then choose the option called Dont search. I will chose the driver (or something like that)
Then point to the place where the driver package has been stored on the HDD and finish the installation.

Ive got a Satellite L30-105 running a 32-bit Vista. And even if i try several different burning softwares (Imageburn, Nero), and with TDK-cds, I get a error from the burning softwares, saying "POwer Callibration Error".
The Satellite L30-105 (Article number PSL33E-02S026N5), uses a cd/dvd burner called MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-850S
I am wondering, can i download and install new drivers for my dvd-drive???
i am also gonna try to buy this "cleaning-cd", to try to clean the lense. cause i bought the laptop in 2007... so its like grandma..
But do u guys have any other what might be wrong?? Is it expensive to get a new cd/dvd-drive for this laptop???

Power calibration error means that the ODD laser lens cannot calibrate in the right position.
Usually this has nothing to do with an drive firmware but with the hardware problem.
In most cases the CD/DVD drive must be replaced.
Im not sure how much an new CD/DVD drive could be but fact is that you cannot use any CD/DVD drive
You need an compatible one and such compatible and supported drive could be ordered from an local ASP.

Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) - BIOS downgrade succesfull

first of all sorry for my english,
I'm the owner of Toshiba Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) bought in Italy. I was not stisfied of Bios update v3.10 and I've searched for older bios version but on european support server, all older bios (2.6 -3.0 etc) was disappeared.
Reading this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=120416 I've read about using the US bios files for downgrading the bios like suggested from user Anhchuong.
A lot of us was sceptic about use US bios on EU laptop.
After a lot of time, and after knowing that US L35-S2366 (PSL33U) have exactly the same spec of mine (except mine have 1024b ram instead of 512), I've decided use v 3.0 bios version for upgrade my bios. ALL WORKED!!!
At this time I'm writing from my lappy and I can confirm that CPU temp is degree 6-7°.

Question about USB Expansion for Satellite L30-105

Hello,
Just ordered a L30-105, but have noticed that it only has 2 USB ports. Is it possible to expand this via an expansion card (or any other solution!)?
Seeing as I have broadband via USB, an optical mouse, 2 printers, an external HD (for music - photos etc) and a photo card reader, looks like i may have wasted a decent amount of money buying the L30-105.

Unfortunately, the only way in which you can add extra USB ports is to use a powered hub of some sort to increase the number of available USB ports. Using a powered hub will ensure that your USB devices all receive sufficient electrical power to function correctly.
You could also consider a PCMCIA adapter card which will provide a further two USB ports but this will obviously prevent you from using your PC slot for any other purpose. I use just such a card on my A30 from time to time.

The notebook L30-105 belongs to the PSL3E series and has been equipped with the ATI graphic chip.
The chipset driver is a part of the graphic driver and therefore you will not find an special chipset driver.
The Toshiba European driver page provides all necessary and needed drivers. Check this page. Other drivers are NOT available and not needed

Satellite L30-105 Losing Time

I have had this laptop for a few weeks now and have noticed it is losing time when it is switched off - I am using Windows Vista.
Is there any way this can be sorted?

Does the time and data is not correctly in the BIOS or what???
Generally such problems are related to the empty RTC (BIOS) battery.
Something similar happens on my notebook if it was not used for a longer period (7-10 days). Then I have to recharge the RTC battery.
You should also try to charge the battery!!! Connect the notebook to the AC adaptor and let it charges for 12 hours.

Satellite L30-105 - tapping Touchpad Vista start menu comes up

Ever since I have had my laptop (PSL33E) when I tap the touchpad to select something sometimes the Vista start menu comes up which is really annoying.
Anyone else had this problem?

I think this is nothing unusual because the touchpad area or corners can be configured randomly.
I recommend checking the touchpad configuration and if you want disable some annoying functions or features.
The touchpad configuration should be found in the control panel -> mouse -> properties or advanced.
I cannot remember the exact way where to find these options.

Can I replace my Intel celeron with a full Intel pentium for my laptop Satellite L30-105? As it's so slow I've only had it since Feb 2007, plus half my hard disk has vanished also?

You can use Pentium M CPU, because the difference between Celeron M and Pentium M is the cache size, and Celeron M doesn't uses SpeedStep technology, but the FSB and the Socket are the same.

Need right Win7 display driver for Satellite L30-10X

Hello,
I just reinstalled Windows 7 in my girlfriends Satellite L30-10x and I cant get the gpu to work, it seems like a driver problem, but even in device manager I cant even see the ati graphic card, all it says is standard VGA graphic card as if windows cant find it.
I know that Toshiba dont support windows 7 for this model, but before it was working perfect.
Please help me, I dont know what to do.

The notebook is really old so I dont think you will find Win 7 drivers on the Toshiba driver page.
The GPU seems to be ATi Radeon Xpress 200 (RC410MD)
It seems the ATI does not provide the Win 7 drivers for this GPU. But I found a solution:
1. open the control panel -> appearance and personalization -> display -> screen resolution
2. click on the advanced settings tab -> adapter tab -> properties -> drivers tab
3. click update driver -> search automatically
4. Windows 7 will find and install a driver for your ATI mobility xpress 200
5. restart computer when prompted

I own a Satellite C870D-105 Partnumber PSCA2E.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to upgrade my Win7 Home Premium to Win 8 Pro via the Windows Upgrade Assistant?
So far I haven't been successful and the part numbe does not appear in the compatibility matrix offered by Toshiba.
Is there any chance that this model will be included?
I bought it with the marketing promise that is possible to upgrade.
Have I been fooled?

First of all you have to install Win 8 system.
Then after Win 8 installation you could use the Toshiba Win 8 Upgrade Assistant to get Toshiba Win 8 drivers.
Toshiba Win 8 upgrade assistant DOESNT install Win 8 system BUT ONLY Win 8 drivers/tools.

2GB RAM
40gb disk space
ATI gfx card (Radeon 200m?)
Intel chipset
Realtek RTL8139/810x family network card

Only the gfx card, sound card and network card need new drivers

I decided windows 7 being new I'd give it a go anyways, so I can go back if I have to. I am going to battle on though I think this is achievable. USB slot of Satellite L30 shuts down Windows when in use

I recently bought a Satellite L30 (psl33E) for my wife, and all seemed to go well. That was until she needed more usb ports for her stuff, and used the port on the left hand side of the machine (as opposed to the one always used, at the back.) As soon as she tried to use this particular port, the box shut dow, and has done so ever since.
Could someone please tell me how to repair this, as it's only a few weeks old, and I'd rather not have to take it back to the store where it was bought.

sounds really like a serious hardware issue. I assume that the USB port cannot deliver enough power when the other ports are in use.
If I were you I would bring the machine back or contact the nearest available service partner in your country and let them fix that problem.
