Windows VOD or MPEG2 conversion to Quick Time

I need help figuring out how to get a VOD or MPEG2 converted so that QT folks can enjoy the video and audio for my products.
I create DVD videos and I use Nero to create them. I can use Nero to export the videos to MPEG2, but when I pull them into QT 7 Pro with component package, they do not accept the MUX situation.
How can I solve this problem? I have QT clients that would like to see the videos online via net, but I cannot get audio incorporated.

Are the DVD's you use not "encrypted" (CSS)?
Windows users should use MPEG Streamclip (free) and the Apple MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20) to convert from MPEG-2 (VOB) to QuickTime formats.

If after you download the movie, you navigate away and do something else with your Apple TV the content you have downloaded will be overwritten and you'll need to download it again. It's a pain in the neck for many who have slow downloads but it's something that comes with using volatile memory rather than a hard drive for storage.
Perhaps you're not doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Will it significantly reduce the file size ?
Suppose we have a QT movie file of size 3MB , when it is

Hi Anil.
Yes, you can. You can import QT movies into Flash and embed
the movie and then
export an swf version of it. You can also convert teh video
to a FLV (Flash
video) and have a swf that provides the controls and player
for it.

File size probably will go down but that depnds on what
compression the orginal
QT has and what compression you use when importing to Flash.
I'd say start with
a high quality QT, then try various compression levels when
importing to get
the best size to quality balance.

You'll have to play the swf through Flash. Why would you wnat
to play it
through QT?
What's the output for - CD/web? I'd suggest FLVs ratehr than
an embedded vidoe
into a swf as you can get better quality control and
playback.

.mov file has no video - playing it in Quick Time 7 on Windows XP. Help!

I work for a law firm and we received a CD which contains a .mov file. When we try to play it in Quick Time, it plays the audio, but NO video. We are trying to play it is Quick Time (version 7.7.1) on a Windows XP Pro PC. When Quick Time first opened, it gave a message saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quick Time Components page." I clicked Continue and it took me to the Components page, but it lists like 10 different components and I have no idea what we need. Can anyone provide any input as to what might be missing? Is it a CODEC? I have tried converting it to a different format usinig two different softwares and have gotten errors.

That explains it all. It also raises another question, what is the most universal codec which would maintain the quality? Apparently is is Motion Jpeg. But how can I convert my HDV video to QT compressed with Motion Jpeg? I had tried to find settings in Compressor, but I couldn't find any Motion Jpeg settings..I have only find Photo Jpeg??
But let's say, that I will take that HDV video from my HDV 1080 i 60 timeline and
export it USING QUICK TIME CONVERSION:
Format QUICK TIME MOVIE and in OPTIONS I go to:
VIDEO SETTINGS and choose Photo Jpeg as my COMPRESSION TYPE
Now, what will the resulting file be? Photo Jpeg Quick Time?

Yes, the file would be a QuickTime movie using the Photo JPEG codec.
Photo JPEG is almost the same as Motion JPEG, and it's a good choice
for disk playback performance. For example, if you are editing
several video streams for a multicam edit, and want to do an offline version,
FCP will make Photo JPEGS.

Quick Time Version 7.1.3 issues

When I try to open iTunes on my computer, a window pops up with the message "Quick Time version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quick Time version 7.1.3 or later. Please re-install iTunes"
I went on the Quick Time portion of the Apple web page and tried downloading version 7.1.3, and at the very end it said something to the effect that I already had an updated version of Quick time on my computer.
Is this not the problem then? Do I just need to delete the whole iTunes program off my computer and re-install it from scratch? If I do that, all of my songs will be gone, right? I still have all of my songs on my iPod, so if I re-install the iTunes program, then re-connect my iPod to my computer after I do that, then will it transfer all of the songs back onto my computer?

No image, just sound - also for Quick Time questions

Hey everybody!!
I am editing a movie on Final Cut Pro, and I use Quick Time Pro to capture the clips and source them to FCP. The type of recorder I am using is an HDV, and up to a couple of days ago, things ran smoothly.
Then I started having problems with my Mac, of a different kind, and I had a friend of mine RESTORE my system. After that, I can't work on my film anymore, cause the Quick Time files from Capture Scratch only play sound, and have a blank screen. Every time I try to open them a window box appears, telling me that Quick Time is missing some components, and cannot play the clips properly. I tried downloading most of these programms, like Divx and On2, but the clips still can't play. I also tried erasing and re-installing Quick Time, but this doesn't seem to work either.
I must have edited and delivered this video by tommorow, so what do I do??

First, you should NOT be capturing your clips via QT Player - use FCP itself to capture. Otherwise you have no logging information. This is bound to create problems for you, and today's issue could be a byproduct of this workflow.
Second, once your system was restored and updated, the system and FCP software versions are almost certainly different. Different versions of software produce different results, and one possible outcome is that you cannot view clips, as the codecs have changed. So - what version of OSX and FCP were you using before the restore, and what versions are you using now?

Final Cut Express Quits when exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2

I'm new Mac user and I'm trying to compress a movie from Final Cut Express HD when exporting using Quick Time conversion to MPEG2 format when I do that Final Cut application quits.

I'm not sure how you can get to that point: I cannot even find MPEG2 in my list of compression types while exporting with QuickTime Conversion... (I have 31 of them, and QT 7 Pro installed).
In any case, if you want to make a DVD and have iDVD installed, you have simply to Export/QuickTime Movie (without conversion): iDVD will take care of compressing your movie for you before burning the DVD.

my work flow is: 300 images shot on a 5d mark II medium jpegs opened in Light Room cropped to 16:9 then exported and opened in quick time i can save a .mov H264 giving me files sizes of 14 mb for a 16 second time lapse, mp4 9 mb. the only way i can get large files is saving as a self contained movie then i get 300mb files.
i need to save my files 1920 x 1080 photo jpeg codec as i want HD quality.
i am sure there is a simple way round this?

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?

I can't uninstall quick time on Windows XP

I really messed this whole thing up...I'm trying to run Avid Free DV and it requires an old version of Quick Time so I got the old version and tried to uninstall the version I had but it said that the current QT was on a network that wasn't available to me and it wouldn't let me uninstall it so I got rid of the whole folder (which really messed things up) so now I'm screwed, blued and tatooed (excuse my french) PLEASE SAVE ME!!!

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another install. Does it go through properly this time?

10.5.2 iTunes on Windows 7 x64 bit laptop - Quick Time will play videos but not iTunes

I'm hoping you can help, I've looked for a solution to this for a while now.
I store my itunes library on an external hard drive. I completed a clean install of x64 bit Windows 7 on my laptop - all went perfectly. Downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of 10.5.2 iTunes and located my library...the music plays fine but no videos. I opened iTunes in safe mode and it said that I needed the up to date version of Quick Time. Downloaded and installed that...no problems. Now my vidoes will play in the Quick Player but still not in iTunes! They apprear in the "Now Playing" pane but the timer doesn't move - even after pressing pause and play. Can anyone help me please? Do I need to open iTunes in 32 bit mode? If so, how do I do that in Windows 7? i can only find solutions for Mac's....

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.

Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.

How do I play videos on my new mac that wont show in Quick Time? windows media player

I just got a new imca - switching from a pc. When I receive attachments etc that are not formatted for Quick Time, I can not open and play the video. You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs. In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them), particularly any DivX extension to Safari. However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac/player

Quick Time Pro in Windows 7

I have quick time pro 7 but use it in Windows not Mac. I can't find a way to play a .wma file in quick time pro. All I can see online is codec software to allow wma files to play in quick time if you have a mac. This doesn't help if you are trying to use quick time pro with windows.
I have a movie I created in windows live movie maker and want to play it in quick time pro or more specifically import it so I can export it to a m4v file to upload the video on my iphone 4s. The video orginated from my iphone 4 as mov but I found it much easier to edit in movie maker over quick time pro but now can't save the file as mpeg4 or m4v in movie maker so I need to be able to open the save wma in quicktime pro.

The Windows version of QuickTime Player can't open Windows Media Player formats.
The only reason the Mac version uses QuickTime for WMP files is because of additional third party software.

I CAN'T GET RID OF QUICK TIME 6.5 ON A WINDOWS XP/HOME COMPUTER

I have a Mac at work with a T-4 trunk line so I sometimes use QT. But, since my genealogy program only works with Windows, I have a Win XP/Home at home using dial-up. As soon as I bought this computer, I downloaded QT 6.5 not realizing that I couldn't use it. I understand there are security flaws and I want to remove it.
Under Add or Remove Programs, there is no mention of Quick Time or Apple. I downloaded Windows Install Clean Up and neither QT nor Apple is listed. When I go to Start>All Programs>Quick Time, there are 4 options: 1). QT Player, 2). QT Read Me, 3). QT Updater and 4). Picture Viewer. The only place I can find Quick Time is in my Control Panel between Program Updates and Regional Language Options. There is the QT icon.
I can't believe that Apple would not include an un-installer. Rather than spend 4+ hours downloading a newer update (and not sure if it would un-install the older version) and not being able to use it anyway, I just want to get QT 6.5 off my Windows computer.
