Windows won't load or install, K7N2G

Running an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ on a K7N2G, just got it. Won't load windows or install from the CD, usually it either locks up or bluescreens, other times it will make it into the install/repair process before it crashes.
Using Corsaire CMX512-3200C2PT 1x512MB memory.
Boots to bios just fine, memory check is clean...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Windows won't load! Help!

I have a Toshiba C655-S5132.  In the middle of doing a Windows upgrade, we lost power and now Windows won't load.  I have removed power cord, taken out the battery and turned back on (several times).
    I get
"Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause."
I have tried "Launch Startup Repair" and "Start Windows Normally" both several times.  Each time it says "Windows is loading files" and then goes to a black screen with only an arrow.
I don't know what to do next.
    Please help.

  • Windows 7 won't load after installing new Hard Drive and Recovery software

    HP G72 Notebook PC
    xz218UAR
I guess a virus crashed my hard drive so I bought a new one.  I installed the new drive and loaded the recovery disks that I also bought from HP.  Apparently Windows didn't load properly and it keeps telling me to RELOAD WINDOWS.  I've tried starting over from Disk 1 but it's not doing anything different to fix it.
I removed the new hard drive and reinstalled it but it's still doing the same thing.
What am I doing wrong and HOW DO I FIX IT?

    Hi,
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
Assuming that this is just a problem with the Recovery process, there is a straight forward work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you don't have access to a retail disc, you can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

  • What can I do If Windows won't load??

What is the system repair disc??
If Windows 7 won't start or starts with significant problems, you may need to use the System Repair Disc to fix problems with Windows 7. The System Repair Disc is designed to let you boot up Windows — even if nothing else works — and provides you with several options for repairing your failing system.
You need to create the system repair disc. If you don’t create one, you limit your recovery options. The system repair disc is not the same thing as the recovery disc that came with your computer. It won’t reinstall Windows 7 and it won’t reformat your computer. It's simply a gateway to Windows' built-in recovery tools.
So I wake up today and my OS won't load. What can I do?? Well , what I'm going to do is find the system repair disc that I made and see if I can boot with it. If it boots, it will give me several options to try and fix my problem. If I was smart enough to have created a back up image of my OS on a external USB, then I will be able to select that option and hopefully if the other options didn't help, I will be able to restore my PC back like it was the day I made that back up. If it will not boot with the system repair disc, then I probably have some major hardware problem. This is not rocket science and it totally amazes me that smart people ignore this tool. If this theory is wrong or needs to be amended, please feel free to do so. I have never tried this way, but I don't see any reason it won't work as stated in this message
    Dokie!!
Ps if this doesn't work then go here. This is a excellent tutorial written by Peter. Step number 9 will tell you how to make a linux CD that you can boot to if your hardware is good and you have data on your HD that you can't live without. Step number 10 after that.

  • Windows won't load

i have a year old e-machines computer and it won't load windows. sometimes you can unplug it for awhile and it will work, sometimes it won't. sometimes you can relaunch windows and it will work, sometimes not. have tiied windows restore with no luck.  any suggestions?

Very true indeed. Limewire is the source of about 30% of our "virus removal" business. Honestly it is.
For hardened computer geeks, it's less potentially harmful, but for the average user, it's pretty much an open door for all sorts of nasty things.
To "recover" your computer, you will need "recovery discs" that you hopefully made, or came with the computer.

  • Installed new HD, but Windows won't load

    Hello,
My uncle has a HP Pavilion G7-1329WM.  The hard drive crashed, so I installed a new one.  When I try to install Windows with the the Windows 7 dvd, I get the following message "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok."  There is a box that pops up on the screen before this message, that the hard drive should appear on.  However, the list is empty.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Windows will not load or install, PLEASE HELP SOON

I turned on my computer today and it said:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
I restarted and it worked fine.
I then turned it on again later, and got the same message.
After re-seating the cables, cutting the power, trying to start in safe mode, etc, etc, I decided to try a repair.
The repair just got stuck when I pushed '1' for C:\WINDOWS. It just did nothing after that.
I tried to reformat. I put in the Windows XP disc and it loads up and I push F8 and it says "Searching for previous installations of Windows...". It did that for about ten minutes with no HDD activity until I finally shut it off.
Could ANYONE help me with this??? I am in college, and need to use this VERY SOON. It is 8:42pm RIGHT NOW and I need help BADLY. If at all possible, I would like to re-install Windows rather than reformat as there are some very important files that I need to back up before I can do a full reformat.

You haven't said anything about your system configuration, or whether it has had previous problems. This information would be helpful.
Make sure that the boot drive is correctly indicated in the bios. If you have more than 1 hard drive, I would temporarily remove the second one (assuming the OS is on the first drive). I've noticed that Windows Repair install seems to easily get confused by the disk configuration with the Neo Platinum.  This would also help if your power supply is marginal (if you diconnect the power as well).
A helpful thing to have would be a Knoppix cdrom. this is a cd bootable version of Linux that can be used to inspect your hard disk contents, and key files such as the boot.ini file etc. Also, if Knoppix runs, you can have some confidence that key system components are functional.

  • My MySpace Band Player won't load after installing Flash Player 10

Not so long ago, MySpace required members to update to Flash Player 10.
I installed Flash Player 10.0.32.18 on my Mac (OS 10.4.11).  Adobe.com tells me it's installed correctly, and working fine.
But ever since then, I haven't been able to play music on my band page or on anyone else's. Flash seems to work everywhere else on the web for me. But not on MySpace. There's just an empty space where my player used to be.  No music (only the thunderous sound of subscribers stampeding out of MySpace and over to Facebook).
Someone suggested I go to Adobe's Flash Player Settings Manager and select the box for "Allow third party Flash content to store data on your computer."  But no matter which browser I use, I cannot get an X into that box.  And even if I could, I don't know that this would make my music player visible and functional on MySpace.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Lightroom won't load after install

After having used Betas 2, 3 and 4, I have installed Lightroom. But when I start the program and locate the library, the "Locate Library" screen disappearns and LR doesn't budge. I see only the command line, ie, File Edit, View, etc. Most menu items are grayed out and there is nowhere to go. Any suggestions? I did relocate my images to a hard drive. But when I moved images in the past, LR had no trouble loading them once I browsed and pointed to the Library. Please help ASAP. Of course, I am on deadline!

  • Cd-rom with classic program won't load after installing classic

I tried to install a program that said it required classic support, so I installed classic from my installation disk.
Classic seems to be running without any problems, but now when I put in the cd-rom for the software I was trying to install it won't mount.
Other cd's seem to mount fine, but not this one.
Am I missing an extension or driver to mount a cd in OS 9?

WithaK, do you mean Classic 9 seems to be running on top of OS X, or that you booted the Mac is pure OS 9, please?
If Classic 9 is running over X, any CD should behave exactly as it did before until perhaps you try to view it from an OS 9 application.
If the Mac is booted in pure OS 9 it might need some format translators so exactly which files in System Folder>Extensions have the words "File Access" on the end of their names, please?

  • Itunes won't load after installing

I had itunes installed on my computer in the past, but after much trouble I removed it. (Was told that it would be easy to install again.) I had built up quite up quite an extensive library for my wife and I's ipod classics. I have tried several times to re-install itunes and it seems to have installed ok. When I try and open itunes a window pops up telling me that "itunes has encountered a problem and needed to close". I don't know what I have done wrong and I have NO idea of how to fix it.... Please help.

First check to see if QUicktime is OK, iTunes will not run if Quicktime does not.
If Quicktime owrks use this article:
    Xp
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421
    Vista version
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
If Qicktime does not work, give the error message.
Then try to open QUicktime preferences from the control panel(classic view). Give any error message in full.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
These are bad news for QUicktime.

  • Computer won't load after Install

    Hello,
Just this afternoon I had some installs waiting so I allowed them to go through and restarted after the install as usual. After restarting though my computer was sluggish and wouldn't respond to opening my printer bar, or my command to shut it down. My husband hard-booted it and this time when loading it got stuck at the white apple screen and never went any further. The fans were going overtime like it was overheating so we shut it down, took it apart and cleaned it because it hasn't been cleaned in several years.
This did not fix the problem though so I tried hitting CMD+s when it loaded to get the DOS screen and fix any install errors that may have happened. This did not work either though. The DOS screen never came up. All I ever get is the white apple screen that never goes any further. Does anyone have any other ideas for things I can try!?

Hi Melime, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD, but saves all your files and gives a new OS...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for aAn Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.

  • IWeb window won't load - and all menu options are greyed-out

I've used iWeb before (with a web site set-up), but I tried to open it today and the iweb screen would not open. The program menubar loads, but almost everything, including New Page and New Site are greyed out.
I checked my ME account and it is active and working.
Not sure what the problem is here - any ideas?

Hi, I had the same problem!
After one evening of pulling my hair out, I tried the following:
    1. Located the 'domain' file (or package). In my case at /*user/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
    2. moved the domain file to the desktop (or somewhere else)
    3. Started iWeb. I got the warning that iWeb needed a domain file in order to operate, and I confirmed that I wanted the program to create a new one for me.
    4. iWeb started as normal, but with no contents. I closed iWeb.
    5. I ctrl-clicked the original domain file on my desktop, and selected 'show package contents'.
    6. I ctrl-clicked the new, empty domain file in the Application Support/iWeb directory, and selected 'show package contents'.
    7. I deleted everything in the new, empty domain package file.
    8. And finally copied the contents from the old (seemingly corrupt) package file into the new one.
    9. Hooooray! iWeb started with the old contents intact!
